(0) is a Danish band that breaks down the boundaries between black, progressive, drone, and post-metal, completing its unique sound with Danish lyrics and growl vocals. All of this comes to life when (0)  in a dark sphere fuses intense, raw sound with a massive use of lighting and impressive visual elements to create a spectacle of a live performance.

After a four-year release hiatus, (0) is now back with its second full-length album,
KNÆK.MØRKE.MOD.LYS (Danish for BREAK.DARKNESS.AGAINST.LIGHT), adding further dimensions to the enigmatic band’s artistic work. Today sees the release of the album’s first single ‘Det Sortner’ (‘It Blackens’ in Danish), which is accompanied by a lyric video conveying the song’s dark theme, which according to the band is “..about hating yourself so much, that you don’t want to exist, and about how long time and how much strength is takes to move on from there.”

KNÆK.MØRKE.MOD.LYS will be released on vinyl and digital formats, and both are now available for pre-orders. The vinyl version comes in two editions with one being black version limited to 200 copies, which can be pre-ordered HERE, and a Green Marble version limited to 100 copies which can be pre-ordered HERE. The album can be pre-saved and pre-ordered on digital formats HERE. Also, (0) will be announcing forthcoming shows in near future.

Stream the single HERE

On (0)’s self-titled debut EP, listeners are first introduced to the band’s experimental and unconventional approach to various genres and their distinctive sound, built around insistent and patient guitar constructions. The band’s vision of letting the music speak for itself was reflected in minimal promotion and an anonymous appearance. This only fueled the growing interest around the band, which soon played well-attended Danish concerts, including festivals When Copenhell Freezes Over and Royal Metal Fest.

The debut EP and subsequent shows also gained international attention, and in April 2020, (0) released its debut album, SkamHan, via Napalm Records. Here, one is met with a wall of guitars, growling vocals with Danish lyrics, and drone-based melancholy. On the album, the band continues to navigate the shadowy intersections of black, progressive, drone, and sludge metal, but SkamHan appears more organic than the EP, offering a journey through seven tracks that dive into the darkest corners of the human mind. The release coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic, and (0) was only able to tour with the album the following year, embarking on a 14-day European tour and performing at several international festivals, including Mystic Festival in Poland and Gefle Metal Festival in Sweden.

Since then, (0) has remained creative, seeking new paths and crafting the music that has now become the band’s second album, KNÆK.MØRKE.MOD.LYS. The record features nine new compositions, recorded with producer Lasse Ballade (Konvent, Solbrud, Strychnos, etc.) over three weeks in the summer of 2023. As is characteristic of (0)’s sound, the album features an organic, analog feel that comes across as vibrant and alive in all its raw, untamed performance. The material is possibly elevated even further than in previous releases—the songs are sharply honed, and the production does justice to the band’s dynamic range, with the band’s amalgamation of experimental metal genres hitting with overwhelming weight.

Artwork by Sune Petersen aka MOTORSAW

The album title, KNÆK.MØRKE.MOD.LYS, is taken from a poem written by one of the band’s guitarists. While the poem is not included as part of the album’s lyrics, it is written on the album’s inner sleeve, as it resonates with the themes and vibe of the album. Melancholy is the feeling that permeates (0)’s sound and lyrics, and also the new album. The lyrics focus on the darker aspects of life, such as grief, depression, guilt and shame, frustration, and anger. The themes operate both on a deeply personal level and on a broader scale, with the title track addressing climate change and the frustration that comes with it. But light always plays a role for (0), and light becomes more evident when one has first been enveloped in darkness—light as a search, an instinct, and a will in humanity that pushes us to continue living, despite the darkness that will eventually consume us all.

INFIRMUM’s Sophomore Album “From The Depths I Cried” Out Now

Finnish Symphonic Doom Metal band INFIRMUM has released their sophomore album “From The Depths I Cried”. Early 2019 formed band has approached the genre in a unique and complex way. With a sound that explores aspects of classical music combined with the traditional weight and melancholy of Doom, they released their debut album “Walls of Sorrow” in 2020, followed by the EP “The Great Unknown” in 2022. In January 2023, they released the single “Sleep of Reason,” which featured a music video. With the departure of vocalist Anna Rose in 2023, Brazilian singer Sabine Blodwin joined the band, bringing a new perspective from a different culture.

Listen to the album on music services (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal etc.): https://push.fm/fl/infirmum-fromthedepthsicried

Guitarist and composer Timo Solonen tells about the album:

“Some of the album songs were actually ready already when we released our previous EP but we didn’t have time to finish them at that point. So the path has been quite long with this album. Many songs were also left out of the album because we didn’t want to do a double album this time. Maybe some of those will be released in the future. But we’ll see how it goes.

Usually we start working with new material so that I make the raw version and send it to the rest of the band and then we start to arrange it as a band. We work mostly so that everybody does their parts by their own and luckily it’s nowadays possible because band members live all around Finland.

People have been asking for a new album for a some time now. And here it is! I believe and hope that the waiting has been worth it.

We have plans to do live shows as soon as pieces come together with it. Live show is the thing in this kind of music.

As the album was in production we had a clear vision to give more room for cello and Elya nailed it. Erna’s keyboards also play a big role and lift up the different mood on the songs. After Sabine came in the whole band took several leaps forward and tha fact that she comes from totally different culture brings wonderful twist to the band’s sound. Myself and Hanska went to Juho Räihä’s studio to test some ideas for the drum tracks and I really love Hanska’s style on drums! Joonas also gave several new ideas to the songs that brought in some diversity that they needed.”

Tracklist/ ISRC -codes:

01. Pact – GX5MV2401714
02. Everlasting – GX5MV2401715
03. Burn – GX5MV2401609

05. Peace – GX5MV2401720
06. Ephemeral – GX5MV2401721
07. Icamiabas – GX5MV2401722

INFIRMUM’s music today can be described as profound and conflicted, exploring the darkest sides of human emotions, diving into the depths of madness, pain, sickness, and death, while still finding brief moments of hope, offering an atmospheric journey through the darkest corners of the human soul. Combining beauty and ferocity, their compositions are rich in textures and nuances with strong, reflective lyrics.

The current lineup includes Sabine Blodwin (formerly of Moonwitch, Draconian Opera, Pettalom) – Vocalist, Taka Eliel (Sanctuary of Hate) – Vocalist and Bassist, Erna Siikavirta (formerly in Lordi, Children of Bodom as session keyboardist, Sinergy as session keyboardist, Arthemesia and Deathlike Silence) – Keyboardist, Joonas Siikavirta (Begrim) – Guitarist, Timo Solonen (Grain of Pain) – Guitarist, Hanna-Leena “Hanska” (Mourning Wood) – Drummer, and Elya – Cellist.

BROTHERS OF METAL Share New Music Video for Colossal Album Title Track ‘Fimbulvinter’

[photo: Kim Larsson and Marit Woxmark]

November 1, 2024 will see Swedish metal vikings BROTHERS OF METAL release their forthcoming magnum opus ‘Fimbulvinter’ through AFM Records. Today, the heavy metal collective is presenting a colossal video clip for their epic album title track!

‘Fimbulvinter’ is ‘the great winter’ in Norse mythology,” as the band recently explained. “A winter that is colder and darker than all other winters and lasts for three years. It’s one of the first significant indications that Ragnarök is coming.”

Stream ‘Fimbulvinter’ now on all digital providers via: https://brothersofmetal.bfan.link/fimbulvinter-single

BROTHERS OF METAL are a spectacular phenomenon on the international metal scene, their catchy yet powerful songs and martial outfits, including archaic weaponry, paying homage to both heavy metal and the Norse gods. Their first two album releases ‘Prophecy Of Ragnarök’ (2017) and ‘Emblas Saga’ (2020) have earned the Swedish band an outstanding reputation, and now BROTHERS OF METAL are ready to take the next step: Their forthcoming studio album ‘Fimbulvinter’ showcases all of the eight-piece’s strengths, but also includes some significant new elements. “The core sound is still there, but we’ve also evolved as songwriters, so the songs have more depth and width than before,” Nilsson points out. “Our songs follow the same themes as before even though we’ve ventured into new territories and explored new stories, as it were. We always aim to have one song that fits everyone on each album, with the result that our hymns tend to sound like a lot of different genres of metal. That’s how we like it. We’re Brothers of Metal, we can play whatever we want to!”

Most of the songs for the record were penned by guitarist Dawid Grahn, Singer Ylva Eriksson and drummer Johan Johansson. The other band members were also involved in the songwriting process, namely Mats Nilsson and Joakim Lindbäck Eriksson (both vocals), guitarist Pähr Nilsson, bassist Emil Wärmedal, drummer Johan Johansson and some additions from new live guitarist Christian Larsson. ‘Fimbulvinter’ was recorded at the Massiv Musik’s Studio in Mockfjärd, Sweden and, like its predecessors, produced by Erik Berglund. Artist Sallai Péter contributed the cover design again, emphasising the tracks’ Nordic flair visually. Speaking of which, if you can’t wait to see BROTHERS OF METAL live on stage, you will have the chance to do so from November 1, 2024, when the band will embark on an extensive European headline tour through nine countries. Find all tour dates below!

CROSSBONE SKULLY Team Up with NIKKI SIXX on New Track ‘High On You’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 29, 2024

Photo Credit: Kim Moran – Artwork by Mark Wilkinson

CROSSBONE SKULLY have teamed up with Mötley Crüe bassist and founding member Nikki Sixx on their latest track, the seriously red hot “High On You,” a song about romantic obsession with an anthemic shout-it-to-the-heavens chorus. The song and its artwork—designed by Mark Wilkinson (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest)—nods to the plight of ‘Crossbone Skully,’ the central character in a parallel mythology developed by the band’s founder and frontman Tommy Henriksen. His story is unfolded in CROSSBONE SKULLY’s upcoming debut album EVIL WORLD MACHINE, set for release on November 22 via Better Noise Music. The narrative will also expand in a forthcoming graphic novel and animated film, Thing #1, due in 2025, which features voiceovers by SIXX.

“Crossbone Skully is doing something visually unique while blending kickass riffs and great songwriting with this project,” says SIXX. “I’m excited for them and can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”

Henriksen (who’s also the guitarist and musical director for Alice Cooper’s band and member of Hollywood Vampires) says of the track:
“‘High On You’ shows the taste of young, pure love…the type that gets you hooked on the bug! Love is an everlasting drug!”

Watch the music video for “High On You” streaming below or directly via YouTube HERE. Stream/download “High On You” HERE.

CROSSBONE SKULLY’s debut album EVIL WORLD MACHINE was executive produced by the legendary Mutt Lange, who emerged from retirement just for this project.

EVIL WORLD MACHINE is a rock concept album that echoes similar dystopian visions such as David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars and Diamond Dogs.

Henriksen enlisted a sterling group of supporting musicians for the album including guitarist Tommy Denander, keyboardist Jamie Muhoberac (My Chemical Romance, John Mayer, Seal), bassist Chris Wyse (Hollywood Vampires, Ace Frehley, The Cult, Ozzy Osbourne), drummer Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper, Hollywood Vampires), the late UFO bassist Pete Way, mixer Olle Romo (Muse, Bryan Adams) and producer/mixer Mike Plotnikoff (AC/DC, Aerosmith).

Spoken-word appearances appear throughout the album from   A-list actor/musician and fellow Hollywood Vampires bandmate Johnny Depp as the voice of “The Sorcerer,” Alice Cooper as “The Bringer of Light,” Joe Perry as “Big Bad Bone Crusher”, Nikki Sixx as “The Crooked Crow,” and Kane Roberts as “Alpha Watchman.”

Pre-orders for EVIL WORLD MACHINE digitally as well as on CD, Vinyl and various merch bundle options are available now at https://crossboneskully.ffm.to/ewmalbum.
