Finnish extreme metal band Saasta has released the second single “The Envy” from their upcoming album “Cesspool” to be released on May 8th 2026.

In every person’s life there are moments when death’s cold call feels more comforting than the pain of continuing to live. Sometimes the only thing standing in the way of that final passage is cowardice.

The Envy is a merciless depiction of the weakest moments in an individual’s life. In those moments, existence feels like nothing more than the maintenance and feeding of a personal, earthly hell. A person sinks into the deepest depths of despair, where hope does not appear as light, but hangs by fragile, fraying threads, always on the verge of breaking.

The Envy expressed in the song is not directed at material possessions or worldly achievements, but at death itself — at total peace and the absence of pain. It is a mindset in which even worms seem freer and more human than a breathing, suffering person.

The purpose of The Envy is not to romanticize self-destruction, but to strip it of all glamour and false shine. It is ugly, desolate, and raw. In its world, holiness smells of rot.

Musically, The Envy is both fresh and distinctly original Saasta. Painfully heavy and stripped-down death metal meets black metal riffs that twist familiar icons into distorted forms. The Finnish lyrics add their own harsh character to the song, reinforcing its message in a way that is both beautiful and unsettling.

Saasta is an extreme metal band from Kotka, Finland. Formed in 2020 the band combines the mercilessness of black and death metal, with the more subtle nuances of doom. The combination is dark and groovy metal with its own distinctive sound, where strong lyrical expression meets raw energy. Saasta is known for their intense stage presence and uncompromising effort.

Recipients of the “Young Artist of the Year” at the UK Blues Awards 2025, ZSG are best known for their explosive live shows and their signature blend of 70s classic blues rock and modern alternative influences. Over the past few years, the Kent-based trio have steadily built a loyal following who are fans of blistering, raw-to-the-bone live shows. Their exciting sound combines classic British R&B with punk energy, outstanding musicianship, and pure dynamite.

Released in September 2025, the band’s album Straight To It is a fitting title for the Zac Schulze Gang’s debut studio album: the trio doesn’t mess around with niceties, preferring to play the kind of blues-infused rock’n’roll that grabs your throat and doesn’t let go.

Frontman, guitarist Zac Schulze, is a world-class shredder, playing with precision, speed, and passion, but the focus of the trio isn’t just his solos. The Zac Schulze Gang is an undeniable gang, a group unified by a like-minded sensibility that adds an electrifying charge to their rock’n’roll. Zac Schulze rides the thunder generated by the rhythm section of his drummer brother Ben Schulze and bassist Ant Greenwell. The trio create a massive roar, all without losing sight of their songs.

The blend of melody and muscle gives Straight To It a visceral kick. Branching away from the blues that provided the trio their initial inspiration, the Zac Schulze Gang opens the album with “The Rocker,” whose breathless hooks almost feel like a rallying call, and sustain that energy through the blitzkrieg rush of “High Roller.” This hard edge is complemented by the bright power-pop of “Angeline” and “Betterland,” an alt-rock anthem that soars toward the skies.

The Zac Schulze Gang’s sound and work ethic harks back to the much-loved live dynamic and relentless touring schedules of 70s icons including Rory Gallagher and Dr Feelgood. Their unique sound also embodies elements of heritage classic rock acts like AC/DC and Thin Lizzy, while giving a nod to contemporary influences like Turnstile, Royal Blood and Queens of the Stone Age.

The Gang have made lasting impressions at esteemed festivals including Eric Clapton’s Crossroads in LA, Planet Rock’s Winter End in 2023 and Fairport’s Cropredy Festival, and the Rory Gallagher Tribute Festival in Ballyshannon where the band first exploded onto the scene.

SERPENTHEIR is a Gdańsk-based experimental metal project rooted in symphonic black and melodic death metal. With a versatile discography of 4.5 albums, including the phantasmagorical ‘Hypernature’s Vines’ and the dreaming, ethereal ‘Oneirism’, the project attempts to answer sonic questions like, ‘What happens when you fuse groove metal with symphonic black metal?‘ and ‘How would a journey from Industrial to the Baroque unfold?‘.

Their compositions are often unstable, feisty, and temperamental. The combination of a drum machine with melodic riffs under massive layers of synths creates an effect of oversaturated, mechanically-conducted extremity.

Serpentheir has undergone a metamorphosis through a mostly solitary decade of geographic shifts and creative defiance. Conceived by Maurizio Pullman (aka Dr. Caligula), the project has meticulously built a 4.5-album discography—from the cold echoes of the 2017 EP ‘Undertones of Yore’ and the grueling “meta” struggle of the ‘Protracting the States Invariant’ era, to the prolific one-year from-sketch-to-release experiment ‘Shadow People’, which has reignited the nearly smoldered out creative process.

Now based back in Gdańsk, the project has finally shed its one-man skin. The fold has expanded to include a full lineup of dedicated composers, pushing the project’s musical horizons further with the promise to never become complacent and always strive to evolve.

With the 2026 release of ‘Iridescence’ and the band finally hitting the stage, another chapter of mechanically-conducted extremity begins.

MORRATH’s New EP “Obscure Abominations” Out Now

MORRATH‘s story begins in 2017 when teenage maniacs founded a thrash metal band Prowler in their small hometown in western Poland. After few years of local gigs, loads of lineup changes, leaving Maslakowski and Jankowski as the only original members and finding a drummer capable of playing blastbeats, they changed their name to Morrath, following their musical shift into heavier and faster playing, improvement in skills and to simply get a fresh start.

Within 5 years they released: “Inhumanity Enthroned” (2021, EP), “Centuries of Blindness” (2023, album), “Przegnity Konglomerat” (2025, split) and now they are releasing brand new EP titled “Obscure Abominations“. They also played numerous amount of live shows and shared the stage with bands like Incantation, Nocturnal, Arkona, Vomitory, Anima Damnata, Stillborn, Baalzagoth and Gallower.

Music for “Obscure Abominaion” EP was recorded during fall in 2024:

All was mixed and mastered by Michał Grabowski (Christ Agony, Towards Hellfire, Feto In Fetus). Cover artwork was done by Mieszko Jankowski (Coffinwood, Leprozorium, Night Lord). On the new record few guests performed:

EP is released digitally and as limited CD up to 300 pcs by Polish underground label Necroscope Blasphemia. Physical release will consist live tracks from split “Przegnity konglomerat” released in 2025 on strictly limited edition to 80 tapes. Pre-order of the upcoming EP is available on Bandcamp (here).

Band comments new EP: “We decided to make our music more dark, moody, transcendental and even psychedelic or ‘acidic’, while still making sure we deliver the right amount of aggression and brutality. Guitars, bass and vocals were recorded in less professional space than those of the album, which gave us more control over the sound, more time to work etc., so “Obscure Abominations” finally have the sound we think works the best for our music“.

The signs at GENERATION STEEL continue to point to stormy weather. While the band is currently in the final stages of recording their third album, the German metal commando is pleased to announce that they will be joining their compatriots IRON SAVIOR and MYSTIC PROPHECY on their double headliner tour starting in November, completing the Teutonic metal trio.

“We can’t wait to present our new line-up and our new songs to you. The Heavy Metal Mania tour is the ideal setting for this. Together with our friends from Mystic Prophecy and Iron Savior, we will deliver metal madness to you. Stay metal!
