KILLSORROW Stream New Album “Wasteland Chronicles”, Announce Line-Up Change

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 14, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: KILLSORROW. Leave a comment

KILLSORROW was created in 2008 in Krakow by guitarist Michał Sokół. The band’s roster changed multiple times before finally stabilizing in 2015. Each member of the band is an experienced musician who has played hundreds of concerts and supported world-class bands.

Music for new studio album titled “Wasteland Chronicles” was recorded at Heinrich House Studio (Azarath, Behemoth, Masachist) and Studio Centrum. All was mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström at Fredman Studio (In Flames, Arch Enemy, Sabaton, Dimmu Borgir, Septicflesh) in Goteborg. Cover artwork was done by duo Zbigniew Józefczyk and Michał “Xaay” Loranc (Evangelist, Kamelot, Konkhra).

On the new album the band presents a new musical face, they play mixture melody and aggressive of Trivium and In Flames with catchy Iron Maiden riffs and progression of Evergrey and Kamelot. All of the songs with themes referring to the Mad Max or Fallout series tell various loosely related stories.

November 3, 2023 band released full album on physical format as CD which could be ordered at their official website http://killsorrow.com/ and Via Nocturna webstore. Digital version of the album was released September 6, 2024 (here).

“We wanted to record songs that would be a good foundation for Piotr’s vocals, which is why the album has a slightly different character than the previous ones. It is more lyrical. You will find both fast and slow songs there, we mainly wanted to maintain the atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic wasteland, which we apparently succeeded in” – says Michał, the leader of the band.

The band is unfortunately parting ways with its vocalist and the two upcoming live shows are the last ones where you will be able to hear him.

“Piotr decided to leave the band because he is absorbed by his private matters. We are parting ways amicably and we keep our fingers crossed for him that everything will work out the way he wants. At the same time, in connection with this, a certain guest will appear at the upcoming concerts, but I do not want to reveal more about it, it is a surprise” – continues Michał.

Phoboian is a melodic death metal orchestra from Turku, Finland. The band’s music incorporates classical female vocals into heavy nordic melancholy. Phoboian was established in 2017 during an after party to a metal gig, and since has gathered six musicians to its ranks: singers Inka Laitinen and Eeva Korhonen, drummer Kristo Rautavuori, bassist Jonathan Åkerman, and guitarists Olli Kuure and Otso Turunen. After a long silence Phoboian is ready to release “The Plague”, the first single from its upcoming album.

Listen to the single on music services (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal etc.): https://push.fm/fl/phoboian-plague

“The Plague” tells about the extinction of mankind as a result of a deadly pandemic. It brings together medieval religious imagery and a modern scientific dystopia. Despite the macabre theme the song strives for beauty, and isn’t as much a prophecy as a warning. -Otso Turunen

“One of my favorite tracks from the upcoming album is definitely ‘The Plague,’ which harmonies and rhythms create an atmosphere that’s great to rock out to. Together with the guys and Eeva, we’ve crafted a song that truly represents who we are, conveying relevant themes as well. Its energy and guitar riffs showcase our band’s sound at its best. Working together has been inspiring, and I believe listeners will also experience that energy. ‘The Plague’ is a part of our journey and a story we want to share.” -Inka Laitinen

  • Composed by Otso Turunen
  • Lyrics by Otso Turunen
  • Arrangement by Otso Turunen & Phoboian

With the release of his upcoming solo album, The Art Of Letting Go, less than one month away, vocalist/guitarist/songwriter MYLES KENNEDY – known for his work with rockers Alter Bridge and Slash and the Conspirators – is releasing another incredible music video for the third song now available from the album.

The song, “Miss You When You’re Gone,” is a mid-tempo track that continues to showcase Myles’ lyrical ability to create a composition that resonates with its listener. The song talks about a relationship that is growing apart as Myles sings: “This is gonna hurt like hell, I know too well.” The music video is an animated masterpiece from the mind of Kennedy and longtime animated video collaborator Ollie Jones. The video tells the story of a girl who moves into a house and befriends a ghost that lives there. Their relationship continues through all phases of the main character’s life driving the meaning of the song home.

The debut single – the upbeat rocker “Say What You Will” – is currently moving up the US Active Rock charts with a bullet. Sitting in the Top 20 at Active Rock, the song is the most spun single of Myles’ solo career and has become an instant classic among fans and program directors alike. The music video – with over 1.5 million views to date – was directed by Gordy De St Jeor (Mammoth WVH) and tells the story of a bullied and timid student who breaks out of her shell with the help of a teacher, janitor and school principal portrayed by Kennedy, Uddin, and Tournier in the school talent show. The music video is now available worldwide and can be seen HERE.

From the opening guitar riff of the title track “The Art Of Letting Go” to the haunting melody of album closer “How The Story Ends,” MYLES KENNEDY is back with a collection of songs that is sure to cater to old and new fans alike. Songs like “Mr. Downside,” “Miss You When You’re Gone,” and “Saving Face” showcase the memorable storytelling that has become synonymous throughout all of Myles’ projects. The Art Of Letting Go marks the return of Myles, backed by his band comprised of Zia Uddin on drums and Tim Tournier on bass. The album is scheduled for release via longtime label home Napalm Records on October 11, 2024.

About MYLES KENNEDY:
As a prolific songwriter, powerhouse vocalist, and proficient guitar player, MYLES KENNEDY tunes into the rhythm of his surroundings and goes with the flow. Fronting Alter Bridge, his soaring vocals, open-hearted lyrics, and airtight riffs have fueled the group’s global impact as a gold-certified, arena-filling force of nature over two decades-plus. On the microphone for Slash and The Conspirators, his towering range has consistently stunned audiences since 2010. Becoming a celebrated collaborator, he’s the rare presence just as comfortable on a track with Disturbed, Halestorm, and Sevendust as he is with Gov’t Mule and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels. It’s why he’s generated over one billion cumulative streams, earned gold and platinum certifications worldwide, uplifted countless fans, and KERRANG! christened him “one of rock’s finest vocalists.” It’s also why he’s carved out his own lane. 2021 saw him deliver his acclaimed sophomore opus, The Ides of March. It impressively notched a total of four #1 debuts across three countries, toppling the Billboard US Top Current Hard Music Chart, the UK Official Rock & Metal Chart and Official Independent Album Chart, and Canada’s Hard Music Albums Chart. Beyond generating 10 million-plus streams, it incited unanimous critical applause from American Songwriter, Guitar.com, LoudWire, Guitar World, and more. RIFF hailed it as “a fantastic and must-listen record,” while Classic Rock Magazine awarded it “4.5-out-of-5 stars,” going on to attest, “The Ides of March confirms Myles Kennedy as a musical powerhouse.” With two solo efforts under his belt and sold out headline tours in the rearview, a sense of keenly honed intuition guides his third full-length LP, The Art of Letting Go [Napalm Records], led by the single “Say What You Will.”

CAVALERA Discuss Re-Recording of “Morbid Visions”, “Divine Conspiracy” + “Schizophrenia”

In an interview with the Czech Project Backstage, Max and Igor “Iggor” Cavalera talked about the revival of their early Sepultura works through their project Cavalera. While they continue to release new material under Cavalera Conspiracy, they have decided to re-record Sepultura’s early work under the Cavalera name. The goal? To honor their musical past while maintaining the energy and spirit of the original Sepultura.

In the interview, Igor explains:

“It can be a bit confusing for newcomers. With Cavalera Conspiracy, Max and I write completely new songs. Under Cavalera, however, we re-record older works and perform them live. So, it’s two sides of the same project, but with different focuses.”

“At the end of the day, it’s about the music that Max and I have made since the early days of Sepultura. Cavalera represents the essence of our shared history. There are some differences between the projects, such as the re-recordings with Cavalera and the creation of new music with Cavalera Conspiracy, but at its core, they remain the same project,” he adds.

Max also emphasized the importance of the original Sepultura spirit:

“Everything comes from the same root. The same spirit we had back then is still here today. And the most important thing – and I think the fans feel this – is that the spirit of the original Sepultura is also present in Cavalera. People wanted to feel that essence, and that’s what we’re achieving with these re-recordings. With Cavalera Conspiracy, we’re creating new music, which we will continue to do, but with Cavalera, we can perform the classic Sepultura material live.”

Despite the name change, the Cavalera brothers still see themselves as the keepers of the legacy they built decades ago with Sepultura. After the classic lineup dissolved in 1996, Max left the band, and Igor followed later in 2006. The brothers reunited in 2007 under the name Cavalera Conspiracy. With both projects, they aim to keep the original spirit of the band alive.

“We plan to keep going for a long time. None of us are thinking about retirement. We’re musicians, we’re rockers – life artists, as they say,” Max concludes.
