IN THIS MOMENT, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated, multi-platinum heavy alternative force of nature, have dropped their ninth full-length offering and debut LP for Better Noise Music, WITCH, today, August 28. Get it HERE.

Bold, emotionally resonant, and unmistakably IN THIS MOMENT, WITCH embraces everything that has defined the band’s legacy while confidently expanding their creative vision through towering anthems, mesmerizing melodies, unforgettable guest appearances, and a striking visual identity.

To accompany the record, the band also unleashed an epic cinematic music video for the new single “I Want To Believe,” featuring Gold-Certified, Southern California heavy alternative phenomenon Dayseeker. More than a music video, it’s a feast for the senses, pairing the song’s emotional weight with the band’s signature screen-worthy grandeur.

The track teems with emotion, energy, and essence of these creative outliers catalyzed by the back-and-forth of IN THIS MOMENT’s front-goddess Maria Brink and Dayseeker’s vocalist and mastermind Rory Rodriguez, whose smooth croon has elevated the band to one of the biggest breakout acts of the last two years. The sonic meeting point between two bands helping shape the future of heavy music creates one of WITCH‘s most anticipated moments — a crossover that underscores the strength, evolution, and creative camaraderie thriving within today’s rock community. Giving fans a whole lot to believe in, it’s a once-in-a-generation pairing without comparison.

Regarding the single, Brink revealed, “‘I Want To Believe’ is the flicker of light you protect as shadows close in. It’s reaching for a hand that’s slipping away, knowing endings are inevitable, yet still clinging for the glow of hope. It’s the quiet fight to believe in light while the world shifts, knowing that even as one chapter fades, another will dawn.”

Rodriguez echoed this excitement, “We had a chance to tour with IN THIS MOMENT last year and they were so kind to us. I was very excited about the idea of us creating something together musically and I think people are going to love it.”

IN THIS MOMENT preceded the LP with the standout “Crawl.” Beyond plugs from Metal Hammer and more, Revolver raved, “‘Crawl contains brawny riffage, stagger-stomped industrial rhythms and a fiercely hypnotic vocal performance from frontwoman Maria Brink that runs from fair-warning whispers to confrontational screams. Consequence Of Sound attested, “The dynamic single ‘Crawl’ features Brink delivering percussive verses and a melodic chorus, with some heavy screaming thrown in, as well.” The Nu Metal Agenda perhaps put it best, “Singer Maria Brink brings back to her quasi-rapping, something only heard songs such as ‘Sex Metal Barbie’ or ‘Roots’ or songs of their ilk, ascending to her place as modern metal’s supreme.”

WITCH showcases every side of IN THIS MOMENT: The fury, the femininity, and the fire. It’s an 11-track opus that does not relent in intensity and introspection. However, the band didn’t go it alone. This time around, the band also tapped Kim Dracula for “Heretic” and Kat Von D for a cover of the Pink Floyd classic “Another Brick In The Wall.”

“WITCH is my declaration of inner transformation,” states Brink. “It’s about embracing the duality within — taking pain, persecution, and struggle — and alchemizing them into strength and power. The album reflects both ancient trials and my own journey — where being a ‘witch’ means being a creator, connected to the universe, manifesting my own reality.”

The spell has been cast. Allow WITCH to possess you.

ITM teased this chapter with “Sleeping With The Enemy.” Beyond reeling in over 1 million streams, it earned critical acclaim. Rock Sound hailed it as “blistering.”

Led by the magnetic presence of Brink, the band has turned its fusion of spectacle, vulnerability, and massive melodic hooks into a global phenomenon, earning platinum-certified success and more than two billion career streams along the way.

Since coming to life in 2005, IN THIS MOMENT have presided over a diehard fan base under the watch of “mother” figure and aforementioned Brink — joined by co-founder and lead guitarist Chris Howorth, bassist Travis Johnson, guitarist Randy Weitzel, and drummer Kent Diimmel. They have steadily emerged as one of the most influential and impactful bands of the 21st century.

To date, In This Moment has amassed over 2 Billion streams globally. In addition to the Gold-selling album, BLOOD [2012], the quintet has also garnered seven Gold and two Platinum singles, followed by a trifecta of Top 25 entries on the Billboard 200 with BLACK WIDOW [2014], and RITUAL [2017].

Between selling out headline tours coast-to-coast, the group performed in arenas and have appeared at countless festivals from Lollapalooza to Sonic Temple. They assembled their seventh full-length, the aptly titled MOTHER [2020] with longtime trusted collaborator Kevin Churko [Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch]. MOTHER breathed the activating mantra of an unbreakable spell, commenced on first single “The In-Between,” which received a GRAMMY® nomination in 2020 for “Best Metal Performance.”

In 2022, the band released BLOOD 1983 [BMG], a reimagined EP commemorating the ten-year anniversary of BLOOD. Then in 2023, the longtime staples of heavy music released their eighth studio album GODMODE [BMG], a 10-song record featuring the powerful lead single “The Purge,” a stunning cover of Björk’s “Army Of Me,” the collaborative track “Damaged,” which featured Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, and “I Would Die For You,” which appeared on the soundtrack for John Wick: Chapter 4.

The next era of In This Moment will amplify everything they’ve built with this mantra: “Your voice, our flame. Set your truth on fire.”

Poland’s premier architects of unholy chaos, AZARATH, return to claim their place at the altar of extremity. Emerging from a six-year silence following “Saint Desecration” (2020), the death metal group will release its new album titled “Scorn Eternal” on November 20 via Agonia Records.

“Scorn Eternal” conjures a cataclysm of sinister blast beats and possessed riffs, shattering dogma in a blistering onslaught of sacrilegious death metal. Unyielding, malicious, and executed with surgical precision, the band continues to fuel the black flame with their line-up intact & fit for sonic carnage: drummer Inferno (from the ranks of Behemoth), guitarist Bart (Armageddon, Damnation), bassist Peter (ex-Lost Soul) and vocalist Skullripper (Embrional, Hellfuck). This time, the album is enriched with an epic feel and new elements that were not present in earlier recordings.

“Scorn Eternal” was recorded at Sound of Records Studio between December 2025 & May 2026, and mixed at Studio Wieloślad in June 2026. The album was engineered, mixed and mastered by Haldor Grunberg (Satanic Audio). The cover artwork was painted by Marta Promińska (Hypnagogic Art).

AZARATH crept from the shadows over two decades ago and stands as a pillar of uncompromising Polish death metal, often touted as a demonic mutation of Krisiun and Immolation. The band has spent seven acclaimed albums – most recently 2020’s “Saint Desecration” – decimating stages across Europe and building a ferocious reputation for relentless, blasphemous brutality.

CALLIDER Releases New Single & Video ‘Hard To Regret’ from Upcoming Album

With ‘The Explorer’, CALLIDER (Stefan Lange) presents his second album, a sonic expedition that blends melodic death metal with literary depth and cultural reflection.

Today, CALLIDER releases the third new single for the emotional track “Hard To Regret”, complete with a music video, from the upcoming new album “The Explorer”.

Stream or download the single here: https://callider.bfan.link/hard-to-regret

“”Hard to Regret'”is a love song about a brief romance between two people who fall in love, but who have no room in their lives for each other. It’s a bittersweet celebration of the moment and the memory that remains,” describes Stefan Lange, adding: “The songwriting and arrangements are very much in the style of classic rock and probably not to the taste of die-hard metal fans. However, I felt that this song was a well-crafted piece and worthy of being produced and published, representing a more ‘mainstream’ aspect of my work.'”

Following the successful debut ‘Southern Stars’ (2023), Lange takes things a step further: rather than science fiction or Viking clichés, the focus here is on the search for universal values – a tribute to forgotten cultures, historical narratives and the question of what holds humanity together.

Musically, Lange breaks with genre conventions: wind instruments, oriental sounds (Makam music) and acoustic ballads meet classic metal riffs and varied vocals. The result is an accessible yet complex sound that delights even non-metal fans. The lyrics are political, philosophical and poetic – ranging from the unity of humanity (‘One Note’) to a critique of social division.

The artwork (a Polynesian catamaran following the stars) symbolises humanity’s journey: we navigate through crises – but what are our guiding stars? Humanity, solidarity, moral principles. ‘The Explorer’ is not an album to listen to in passing, but an invitation to reflect.

GRAHAM BONNET Leads All-Star Ensemble Through ‘Smoke On The Water’ from Upcoming “Purple Storm – A Tribute To Deep Purple”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on August 29, 2026

Hot on the heels of Cleopatra Records’ much-applauded tribute to Ritchie Blackmore’s “other” band, Ride The Rainbow, November 13 will see the release of Purple Storm – A Tribute To Deep Purple – and once again, the stars of hard rock, metal and more pour out to bring their own unique twist too some of the most beloved anthems in the hard rock pantheon.

One cut from this hard-hitting album has already slipped out, in the form of the mighty Angel’s take on “Woman From Tokyo,” a super-limited edition 12-inch single released, and immediately sold out, earlier this summer.

Now comes “Smoke On The Water,” a dynamite recasting of what is sometimes described as the ultimate metal riff, with vocals by former Rainbow frontman Graham Bonnet, alongside Lynch Mob guitarist George Lynch, Dream Theater/Yngie Malmsteen keyboard player Derek Sherinian, Blue Oyster Cult bassist Joe Bouchard, and Black Sabbath/Derringer drummer Vinny Appice.

Famously, “Smoke On The Water” was written around Deep Purple’s experiences in Montreaux, Switzerland, when fire gutted the venue in which they were intending to record their sixth studio album, 1972’s Machine Head. They retreated instead to another nearby venue, the Pavilion, but it swiftly proved grossly unsuitable.

Within hours of the band plugging in for the first time, the switchboard at the local police station was screaming in protest as the entire neighborhood, it seemed, phoned in to complain about the noise.  And Deep Purple had only just got started.

Bassist Roger Glover recalled,”‘The only thing we recorded there was a riff of Ritchie’s which we called ‘Title #1.’  The police were actually outside banging on the doors, the roadies were holding the doors shut until we finished recording it.  One can almost hear the banging as the song fades out.”

The group was evicted on the spot, but “Title #1” was regardless destined to enshrine Montreaux as firmly into rock’n’roll legend as Route 66 or Strawberry Fields;  Which makes it even more remarkable when Glover continues, “We finished the track, but we really didn’t think much of it. When we went back to it a week later, it was, “oh, what are we going to write over this?”  So we wrote something, put it on the album, and that was it.’

“It” was “Smoke On The Water,” titled for the clouds of black smoke that billowed out over Lake Geneva as the Casino burned.

Of course, there are a multitude of further Purple classics featured on Purple Storm – 11 of them to be precise, including “Highway Star,” “Child In Time,” “Space Trucking’,” “Woman From Tokyo,” “Black Night”… each of them paramount among  the songs that truly confirmed Purple’s superstardom, both at the outset of their career (“Hush,” their debut US hit single) and into later years too (the title track from 1984’s Perfect Strangers).

The guests, meanwhile, represent several generations of rock glitterati – L.A. Guns, Chris Adler, Chris Poland and David Ellefson (Megadeth), Alan Davey (Hawkwind, Hawkestrel), Ronnie Romero and Bob Daisley (Rainbow), Jonathan Cain (Journey), Pat Travers, Arthur Brown, Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Rod Stewart), Thor, Rick Wakeman (Yes, David Bowie), Mick Box (Uriah Heep) and more.

LEE RITENOUR’s Kaleidoscopic Fretwork Dazzles on His New Album “Live At Ronnie Scott’s”, Out 23rd October

When Lee Ritenour takes the stage, all bets are off. For almost 60 years, the Grammy-winning LA guitarist has chased his muse through a kaleidoscope of genres, conjured alchemy alongside the scene’s greatest players, shed his creative skin whenever it got too comfortable, and walked the high wire each night as the crowd held its breath.

So when it came to catching the sparks on his latest live album, the 74-year-old naturally turned to the fabled London club that shares his rebel ethos. Live At Ronnie Scott’s will be released on 23 October via The Players Club / Artone Music Group, and will be available on LP, CD and digitally. As a taster of what is to come, check out the first single, ‘Is It You.’

Talking about the song, Ritenour says, “This one has definitely evolved. There’s some videos out there of people recreating the ’80s version, and they do it very well. But I’ve taken a different approach with the tune, because it was such a big hit, but it was never an easy tune to play live – it was always challenging for everybody. So when you hear this version from this band, it completely has its own flavour. The reason being that the two singers on it are both Brazilians, Munir Hossn, the bass player, and Tatiana Parra, the female singer.”

He adds, “And this is a funny story, because I decided I wanted to start doing ‘Is It You’ again, and I had a feeling Munir could handle it. So I sent him the song a year ago, and he wasn’t so familiar with it, because he’s too young for that period. But he called me back and said, ‘Yeah, Lee, that’s a great song, I think I can do it. There’s only one problem: I’ve never sung a song in English’. He’s sung songs in French, Portuguese, Spanish…So I laughed and said, ‘Well, let’s give it a try.’ So what’s nice about this version is that I don’t try to force the two singers to Americanise, if you will, the vocal performance. They’re definitely both singing with accents, and we have a softer, slow-groove approach to the song that lends itself to Munir and Tatiana. So I’m very happy with the way it turned out.”

Performing a total of eight shows at the iconic Soho club in March 2026 – with a fresh setlist each time – was the only way this prolific artist could hope to represent every side of his career. Across his 50-strong back catalogue, Ritenour has shapeshifted from ’70s fusion hotshot to ’80s chart-crossover star, from the honorary ambassador for Brazilian jazz to one quarter of ’90s supergroup Fourplay – and beyond.

Every song feels fresh and alive, thanks to the bandleader’s bold arrangements and the rip-it-up energy of a young band featuring Giorgi Mikadze (keys), Munir Hossn (vocals/bass), Grégoire Maret (harmonica), Tatiana Parra (vocals) and Ritenour’s son, Wes, driving the shows from his drum stool.

“I’ve had the chance to play every kind of music with every kind of artist,” reflects Ritenour, “and that’s the way Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club is set up too. Obviously, since 1959, it’s seen the history of jazz, from Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis and Nina Simone, to Jeff Beck and Jamie Cullum. But also rock, soul, blues, you name it – it’s all been through there.”

Born in Los Angeles in 1952, he was playing guitar by eight, “serious” by 12, and soaking up everything that Sixties flashpoint had to offer. “My dad used to take me to hear Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, Joe Pass and Jim Hall,” he reflects. “But there were also the rock guys coming through LA back then, like Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton.

But Ritenour grew up fast, and from the late ’60s he was a first-call sessioner for giants like Frank Sinatra, Pink Floyd, B.B. King and Tony Bennett. “I’d get called for Steely Dan or Quincy Jones would ask me to come by the studio at midnight,” he says of those gun-for-hire years. “Somebody once added up that I did 3,000 recordings for artists, movies and TV shows. It was incredible reaching the top tier as a studio musician. But I always had a desire to write my own songs and records – to be an artist.”

In ’76 and ’77, Ritenour established his own solo career. For the next four decades, he would shift gears and outrun categorisation at every turn, from his pop crossover on 1981’s Rit, to winning a Grammy in 1985 for Early A.M. Attitude, and not forgetting Fourplay’s audacious jousts with fellow crème-de-la-crème musos Bob James (keys), Nathan East (bass) and Harvey Mason (drums). Perhaps his eclectic vision was best summed up by 2010’s hugely ambitious and star-studded 6 String Theory album.

Live At Ronnie Scott’s is an artist performing with no safety net. As Ritenour reflects, the atmosphere during that March residency was electric and just a little dangerous, with London’s most discerning jazz fiends expecting fireworks from one of the US scene’s most fabled players.

“I have a history at Ronnie’s, going back to the ’70s. It’s such an iconic room, and the audience is so sophisticated. If you don’t deliver, it’s probably not good. But this band has been playing together consistently for the last few years, so we came into Ronnie’s already very glued, and the audience felt it from the very first song.”
