Prepare to be exorcised! Norwegian black metal upstarts ODIO DEUS are here to tear down the walls of hypocrisy with their blistering new lyric video for “The Con Man,” the latest single from their critically acclaimed album “Spiritual Syphilis,” out now via Wormholedeath Worldwide.
“The Con Man” is a sonic inferno that dissects the life and dark deeds of Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism. The track exposes Smith’s alleged manipulation and controversial practices, culminating in his violent demise.
About “Spiritual Syphilis”
“Spiritual Syphilis” is a meticulously crafted assault on the dogma and corruption that festers within organized religion. The album is a brutal fusion of traditional Norwegian and Swedish black metal, infused with the raw power of American death metal.
The music on “Spiritual Syphilis” is a testament to the united will of ODIO DEUS. All three members poured their creative fire into the album, forging a cohesive and punishing sonic experience.
Much-loved UK modern metal quartet Skarlett Riot return with their brand new album “Caelestia” on October 25th, 2024 via Despotz Records.
With the release of their upcoming album, ‘Caelestia‘, UK-based alt-metal quartet Skarlett Riot feel their stars have aligned, literally, this time! A band that has always put 100% into every release thus far, ‘Caelestia’ is, in the band’s own words, ‘the best Skarlett Riot release yet’. It’s an album that the band have worked hard on for many months. Bouncing back and forth on studio dates, working up a few songs at a time.
Which also gave the band time to be super critical and rework songs where they needed to. ‘Skarlett Riot’s sound is created by just 4 people infusing our influences and ideas together to create something we personally connect and relate to’ singer Skarlett states, clearly very proud of what she and the band have come up with , featuring brothers Luke (drums) and Danny Oglesby (guitars/screams) and bassist Tim Chambers. The band have consistently sought to develop, expand and grow their sound. Built around Skarlett’s always spectacular voice, the band add harsh vocals to add some aggressive colour to their palette, in amongst the tight rhythms and powerful guitar work.
The album is called ‘Caelestia’ (Latin for ‘Celestial’) and features artwork (by longtime SR art collaborator Christiane Gilbrook) that emphasises the band’s connection, not just in their music, but also personally. ‘If you look closely at the album artwork’ Skarlett offers, ‘you’ll see four constellations which represent our individual zodiac signs’. It’s an attention to detail that the band has cast over everything surrounding the album. From the way the songs were written, to the production and the way the band will present it to the world.
Guitarist Danny is ordinarily the main song writer, and he has contributed the bulk of the songs on ‘Caelestia’, although singer Skarlett has added some of the more personal songs this time around. Her lyrics reflecting a lot of upheaval in recent times, especially in her personal life. All of which has added some extra bite to the tracks featured on the album. With several singles already garnering great support at radio and across YouTube and social media, the foundations for this release have been laid. Tours with the likes of Esoterica, and several sold out headline shows have primed the band’s fanbase for the new record. ‘We’ve been working hard on this for a while now, Skarlett adds, ‘we are so excited to introduce our new album ‘Caelestia’ into the world!’
The band recorded their new album at Treehouse studios (Bullet For My Valentine, While She Sleeps, Fightstar).
The album ‘Caelestia’ is released worldwide on October 25th. It will be available on CD, LP, digital download and streaming.

Formed in 2011, SKAM are a hard rock power trio band from the middle of England. They have a reputation for delivering no nonsense, gutsy, classic sounding contemporary British rock music. To date, the band have independently released 3 albums. ‘It’s Come to This’ (2011) and ‘Peacemaker’ (2014) were released to critical acclaim and the band established themselves as a live force to be reckoned with.
A drive to innovate inspired SKAM to release ‘The Amazing Memoirs of Geoffrey Goddard’ (2017), a concept record based on the diary entries of a time travelling RAF pilot. And now in 2024, the band returns with new single ‘Fate Of The Souls‘, taken from ‘From The Depths‘, their most eclectic and ambitious album yet. Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated preeminent blues-rock guitarist, has just unleashed his latest single “Long Way Down,” a smoldering track that stands out as one of the most intense moments on his upcoming album Dirt On My Diamonds, Volume 2 out September 20th via Mascot/Provogue Records. “Long Way Down” takes listeners on a deep dive into a moodier, more introspective side of Shepherd’s sound. With its gravelly textures and selective, searing guitar solo, “Long Way Down” is a testament to Shepherd’s mastery of less-is-more. “It’s the least flashy solo on the record, but it cuts deeper because of it,” Shepherd reflects.
Dirt On My Diamonds, Volume 2 picks up where Volume 1 left off, pushing the boundaries of modern blues-rock while staying true to its roots. Shepherd wrote the material at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, channeling the studio’s storied history into the DNA of the album. “The whole reason we went down to Muscle Shoals was to soak up the vibe that’s been left in that room for so many decades,” Shepherd reflects.
Forced to hold back new material for the first time in his storied career, Shepherd admits that keeping these latest songs under wraps has been tough. “They’re sounding great in rehearsals and we’ve been dying to get out there and play them,” he says. Now at last, the standard-bearer for 21st-century rock ‘n’ roll is ready to put the cherry atop the Dirt On My Diamonds project with Volume 2.
“These are two unique albums that stand on their own,” Shepherd considers, “but together, I think they make for such a compelling package. We’ve had tremendous success in my career and I’m so grateful for that. But even now, I still feel like there’s always more to explore musically. I just want to keep pushing the limits.”

Filippa Nässil (founder, songwriter and guitar player in Thundermother) spent two months and three weeks in the USA touring with Thundermother in the fall of 2022 supporting the band Scorpions. On off days from playing she wrote lyrics for what came to be her upcoming debut solo album “American Diaries”, that is set for release autumn 2024 via Despotz Records.. The album will contain both English and Swedish versions of all the tracks on the album. Her second single “Mount Shasta” is being eleased August 23, 2024.
She booked the studio in Skåne, Klippan, Sweden (Lemon Recording Studio) whilst still in the States and wrote the music for the album in one month after coming home and recorded it in December 2022 and mixed it in Medley Studios march 2023 in Copenhagen.
Filippa started Thundermother 2009, she studied music production and guitar before that. In 2022 she studied in distance at London Songwriting Academy and she thanks one of her teachers Shelly Poole for pushing her to do a solo album.
“American Diaries” is what it sounds like, her time in Chicago meeting her blues idol “Buddy Guy” and his family, she even got invited to his birthday party turning 86 years old. On “Buddy Guy’s Blues” she plays with his son “Greg Guy”. On “Green Fields Of Napa” she tells the story of getting accidentally high, eating food on a winery, on “Richmond, Virginia” about her favorite food mexican tacos called ‘pastor’, on “San Fransisco” when her boyfriend came to visit and the joy that brought, on “For Rudy”, she sings about her time in Texas, ending up on a night club and the new friends she made there. “Mount Shasta” is her personal favorite, high up in the mountains of north California, missing her love wishing she could share that beauty with him.
The album “American Diaries” is a map over the USA, but in songs written, played and sung both in Swedish and English versions of all the tracks, by Filippa Nässil.
