2024 is the year UNDER THE OAK release their third album, have the band’s international live debut, and continue to be good buddies who enjoy each other’s company.

The band shared: “The album The Last of a Dying Breed will be released in September, once again through our friends in Wormholedeath. Now that we are closing in on 40 years in the business as Metal musicians, it’s no secret that we feel the title reflects ourselves. We still prefer to work like we always have, and physical format and regular rehearsals are second nature. It’s natural for us to be a live band, and our goal will always be to be even better live than in the studio. As always, we have one foot in traditional Heavy Metal and the other foot in the world of Thrash Metal. The music must be melodic, ruthless, fast, and furious. We still pay tribute to our old heroes with the odd cover tune. There was only room for one of those on the new album, but in return, it will be one that you all recognize. For the first time, we are joined by a guest musician Jan-Erik Johansen, who plays triangle on the album. The album consists of ten original Under the Oak tunes and will be available on CD and vinyl in the fall of 2024.”

ILLEGAL MIND Releases New Single ’18 мне уже’

ILLEGAL MIND, the boundary-pushing alternative metal band, is back with a thunderous new version that’s set to turn heads and stir memories. This time, they’ve taken on the nostalgic Russian pop classic “18 мне уже” by Руки Вверх!, delivering a heavy metal rendition that’s as aggressive as it is nostalgic.

From Pop Nostalgia to Metal Fury: For those who grew up in the 90s, “18 мне уже” (which translates to “I’m 18 already”) was an inescapable anthem at every party. It was a song you either loved or loved to hate. Illegal Mind’s frontman, Maxx Dee, recalls, “This track was everywhere during my teenage years, and we all had a love-hate relationship with it. Covering it now is a way to channel that nostalgia into something powerful and new.”

Reimagining the Classic: Illegal Mind has infused the original pop tune with their signature hardcore energy. “We made it heavier, with breakdowns and intense guitar riffs,” Maxx Dee explains. The most notable change is the removal of the third verse, replaced with a ferocious breakdown that transforms the song from a nostalgic memory into a headbanging anthem. “It’s way better now,” Maxx laughs.

DIY Production: The track was recorded at Illegal Mind’s home studio in Ashkelon, Israel. True to their DIY ethos, Maxx Dee took the reins on production, ensuring every note and beat hit with maximum impact. “It’s all self-produced,” he says. “Recording everything yourself comes with challenges, but it also means you have complete creative control.”

A Band on the Rise: Since their formation in 2018, Illegal Mind has been making waves with their unique blend of post-apocalyptic themes and motivational messages. Their music, while often exploring dark, dystopian futures, aims to uplift and inspire. Tracks like “Free” from their EP Forbidden Content and the thematic “Bleeding Sky” have already earned them a dedicated following and coverage in international publications like Hard Rock Italy and the UK’s Power Play Magazine. With “18 мне уже (Metal Version),” Illegal Mind continues to push the envelope, proving that even the most unexpected songs can be reborn as heavy metal anthems. For Maxx Dee and Illegal Mind, it’s all about taking the music they grew up with and making it their own – louder, harder, and more intense than ever before.

Tehran-based alternative rock band Phantom-X has released its new single, “Māh”, meaning ‘Moon’ in Farsi, featuring Maryjane, now available on all platforms.

Listen to “Māh” here: https://fanlink.tv/pxmah

“Māh” explores a profound sense of being lost and aimlessly searching for unattainable goals. Alireza, the band’s vocalist and primary lyricist, penned this evocative track during the COVID-19 lockdowns, a period when the world seemed to be at a standstill. The song captures the collective feeling of uncertainty and introspection that defined that time, delving into themes of isolation, disconnection, and the elusive nature of purpose. Through its haunting melodies and introspective lyrics, “Māh” resonates deeply with listeners, offering a moving reflection on the human experience during one of the most challenging times in recent history.

Musically, Phantom-X embarked on an adventurous and experimental journey with their latest release “Māh”, diverging from their previous works by incorporating a range of electronic elements. This strategic shift aimed to modernize its sound and appeal to contemporary audiences while ensuring that Phantom-X retained the distinctive style that has defined its music over the years. By blending traditional instrumentation with cutting-edge electronic textures and synthesizers, the band succeeded in creating a fresh, innovative soundscape that both honors their musical roots and explores new sonic territories. The result is a song that feels both familiar and refreshingly novel, showcasing Phantom-X’s commitment to evolution and artistic growth without losing the essence of what makes the band unique. This daring fusion of styles not only broadens its musical horizons but also reaffirms its position as trailblazers in the music industry, unafraid to push boundaries and redefine its artistic identity.

Phantom-X bio:
Resilient alternative rock from the heart of Tehran, Phantom-X redefine the rock genre in contemporary Iran. Formed by vocalist Alireza Zandiyeh, drummer Tara Saidi, and guitarist Amin Sadeghi, Phantom-X have been setting new benchmarks for modern Persian rock music in their homeland. As an indie band, Phantom-X typically stay under the radar of Iran’s mainstream audience. However, since the band’s formation, Phantom-X have been steadily building a following through private performances. Their music is cheerful, upbeat, and highly versatile, while their lyrics address the challenges and tribulations faced by their generation. This contrast between the vibrant sound and poignant lyrics embodies the band’s philosophy of maintaining hope amid utter hopelessness.

The band was formed in 2019 from an idea of musicians who at the time were part of acts such as Black Rage, In-sight, Atlas Pain and Sojourner. After a debut show supporting Asphyx and some line-up changes, the band entered the studio to record their debut album “Front: Toward Enemy” in 2020. After its release in 2021, HUSQWARNAH kept themselves busy on the live front, sharing stages with acts such as Mortuary Drape, Baest, Discharge, High On Fire and Voivod. The latter show was recorded and then independently released under the title “Live At Bloom” in 2023.

HUSQWARNAH
‘s death metal is as genuine and convincing as it can possibly get, paying homage to certain traditional formulas dating back to the early nineties, with songs that are particularly compact in structure and dynamics, ideal for being performed live and thus reminiscent of bands such as Asphyx, Bolt Thrower and Benediction.

Line-up:
Maurizio Caverzan – Vocals
Lorenzo Corno – Bass/Backing Vocals
JP Lisi – Guitar
Emanuele Biondi – Guitar
Riccardo Rjillo – Drums
