Blackened speed metal entity WORMWITCH have unleashed their eponymous fourth studio album today, July 26, 2024 via Profound Lore Records! The Canadian necromancers are now streaming the new offering in its entirety! The record can be heard at THIS LOCATION.

WORMWITCH sets out to combine a melodic blackened death assault with the ferocity and attitude of crust punk and classic rock and roll, jettisoning the burdens of ceremony and pomp that dominate the genre today.

The album can be ordered in various formats HERE.

The cover artwork for Wormwitch’s eponymous record was created by Abomination Hammer and can be found below along with the tracklist.

Tracklisting:
01: Fugitive Serpent
02: Envenomed
03: The Helm And The Bow [WATCH]
04: Inner War
05: Godmaegen [LISTEN]
06: Salamander
07: Wormsblood Necromancy
08: Bright And Poisonous
09: Draconick Sorcerous Canadian Witchknights [WATCH]

Like black wings from an obsidian sky, WORMWITCH descended from the darkness in 2015, somewhere upon the rain-soaked woodlands of coastal British Columbia. Animated from the bones of several local punk and metal bands, the new entity set out to combine a melodic blackened death assault with the ferocity and attitude of crust punk and classic rock and roll, jettisoning the burdens of ceremony and pomp that dominate the genre today.

WORMWITCH released their first demo, ‘The Long Defeat’ in 2015, and shortly after signed to Prosthetic Records, under whom they released ‘Strike Mortal Soil’ (2017), ‘Heaven that Dwells Within’ (2019), and ‘Wolf Hex’ (2021). During that time the band toured with the likes of The Black Dahlia Murder, Suffocation, Midnight, Necrot, Uada, Bewitcher, and many others, earning themselves a dedicated cult following and international critical praise. In 2022, WORMWITCH struck out to independently release a string of singles and embark upon several tours of North America. After a busy festival season, 2024 saw the release of a six-song split with Atlanta black-thrashers Sadistic Ritual.

Now, with blades meticulously honed and tempered under the light of a feral Canadian moon, WORMWITCH emerges once more to offer their fourth full length record. Simply self-titled, “Wormwitch” is a statement of a band coming into it’s own – a revelrous celebration of devilish speed, searing melody and diabolical intensity.

Wormwitch Lineup:
Robin Harris: Bass, Vocals
Colby Hink: Guitars
Israel Langlais: Drums

Recording & Mixing: Michael Kraushaar at Little Red Sounds at New Westminster, BC
Mastering: Brad Boatright at Audiosiege
Guest vocals: Erlend Hjelvik (HJELVIK) on “The Helm And The Bow”

Canadian blues, soul, and rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Marcus Trummer is pleased to announce his new upbeat, groove-driven single “Let You Down” released by Gypsy Soul Records on Friday, July 26th.

The single is available on all streaming platforms HERE.

“Let You Down” is the first single taken from Trummer’s debut album to be released in November.

Led by the infectious bass playing of Stacey Shopsowitz, “Let You Down” is peppered with Trummer’s tasteful guitar licks. The addition of catchy horn arrangements makes the song fit in perfectly alongside other classic soul hits. It’s a danceable, feel-good tune perfect for the summertime.

Although written from the perspective of a relationship, the lyrics can also be interpreted as an assurance to listeners that Marcus Trummer is here to stay. The main hook “I won’t let you down as long as the world is turning ‘round,” shines a light on Trummer’s mentality as a young and ambitious artist, eager to prove himself.

If “Let You Down” is any indication of what’s to come, Marcus Trummer is a fascinating artist to keep on your radar as he prepares to share more singles in the coming months.

A young blood with an old soul, Marcus Trummer marries modern sensibilities with tradition in his distinctive style that encompasses blues, soul, and rock. Dubbed “a precocious guitarist whose vocals possess a wise-beyond-his-years weariness” by the Calgary Herald, the Calgary-born artist is already earning critical acclaim and recognition.

In September 2019, Trummer was the recipient of the “Prophets of Music Emerging Artist Award” at Calgary’s YYC Music Awards. In 2022, he won “Blues Recording of the Year” at Calgary’s YYC Music Awards.

In 2022, Trummer snagged a nomination for “New Artist of the Year” at the Maple Blues Awards in Toronto. The following year, he travelled to Colorado to perform as a finalist in the 2023 Telluride Blues Challenge, which he would go on to win.

Marcus Trummer’s music draws inspiration from the timeless sounds of the 60s and 70s. With his warm and emotive vocals, Trummer pays respect to classic soul singers like Bill Withers and Al Green.

His expressive guitar work channels the impassioned approach of players like B.B. King and
Jimi Hendrix. Packed with raw emotion and honesty, Trummer’s songwriting is not to be
overlooked. His thoughtful lyrics examine universal subjects of love and coming of age,
unpacking experiences that resonate with all listeners.

DISTORTED FORCE Release New Lyric Video ‘Approaching Event Horizon’

DISTORTED FORCE have released a new lyric video ‘Approaching Event Horizon’, taken from “Angelic Bloodshed” album, released on June 10th, 2023 via French Soman Records. Watch the video below.Distorted Force is a band with a very weird approach to composition. Being in the substance of progressive metal implies long length tracks, unstable structure, and a lot of changes in a song’s general atmosphere. In recent years the band moves musically in the heavy/progressive area. They started in Thessaloniki, Greece in 2008.

In the beginning of 2010 Distorted Force started their discography with a homonymous EP. A year later they released “A Dead Man’s Dream” showing obvious influences from Porcupine Tree and Anathema. The line-up changed and “Depersonalization” was out in 2012 with much heavier sound, that keeps up to date. In January 2013, “Fields in Desolation” was released, characterized by progressive metal elements which were about to increase over the next years. In December of 2014, the album “Taken by Force” paved the same progressive metal course that was carved in their previous albums. The next full-length album “Curves of Sidereal Cosmos” was the band’s first concept album and was released in May 2018, followed by flattering reviews from the music press all over the world. Distorted Force have been performing live shows all over Greece and Europe since 2008.

On June 10th, 2023, the band released their seventh album “Angelic Bloodshed” via French Soman Records. This is considered to be the heaviest so far.

Classic Rockers THE SWEET Return with New Single/Video ‘Little Miracle’

One of the most instantly recognizable – and successful – rock bands of the ’70s was The Sweet, who scored a string of hit albums and singles due to their highly melodic and anthemic sound and glam look. And now, the group is proud to announce the July 25th release of their new hot single/video “Little Miracle” on Dark Star Records, via Sony/Orchard.

This pop rock funky love song is another example of The Sweet’s departure from the norm. Model Dominique Mercedes makes her stunning debut appearance in the video, and her innocent yet enticing beauty captures the essence of true love. Singer Patrick Alan Stone along with his band mates deliver the goods, with a catchy tune that has the legs to go all the way.

The Sweet’s classic ’70s line-up was comprised of Brian Connolly – lead and backing vocals, Steve Priest – bass, backing and lead vocals, Mick Tucker – drums, backing and occasional lead vocals, and Andy Scott – guitar, keyboards, backing and lead vocals.

After the passing of Connelly (in 1997) and Tucker (in 2002), Priest wanted Sweet to carry on and for its line up to possess the talent, feel and high energy that The Sweet had in its glory days. Priest’s new line-up was an instant smash success, playing hundreds of concerts across the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, and many other countries around the world – for well over a decade, until Priest’s passing in 2020.

Shortly after, it was decided that The Sweet should continue onward, as Stevie and Richie were part of that line up and were asked to carry on by Steve. Sweet 2024 is comprised of frontman Patrick Alan Stone, guitarist Jimmy Burkard, keyboardist Dave Schulz, bassist Stevie Stewart, and drummer Richie Onori.

The band achieved massive commercial success around the globe in the ’70s, including such hits as “Ballroom Blitz,” “Fox On the Run,”  “Love Is Like Oxygen,” “Little Willy,” “Blockbuster,” “Action,” “Teenage Rampage,” and “AC/DC,” among many others.

“Little Miracle” is just the beginning of the groups ascension into a whole new demographic listening audience, with many new songs yet to come.

This new release with the aforementioned lineup demonstrates the same driving force and unpredictable musical quality that has always been the hallmark and essence of The Sweet’s iconic sound.

Confirmed Engagements:

July 25 Hollywood CA – The Bourbon Room
August 23 Regina SK – Shake the Lake
August 24 Toronto ON – Sobey’s Stadium

Modern metal quintet The Oklahoma Kid have released a visualiser for their brand new single ‘Masquerade’, out now via Arising Empire. Known for their very own blend of genres, the avant-garde five-piece never fall shy of pushing the boundaries and breaking old conventions.

The song is taken from the band’s upcoming EP Featherminded, which will be out on 22nd August via Arising Empire. Pre-save Featherminded here: https://arisingempire.com/featherminded

The track combines aggressive instrumentation with melodic hooks, creating a dynamic tension that reflects the song’s thematic depth. This single further establishes The Oklahoma Kid‘s penchant for pushing musical and thematic boundaries, solidifying their reputation as innovators in the genre.

The Oklahoma Kid deliver breathtaking modern metal that bridges the gap between technical intricacy and energising rhythms. Since forming in 2012 the band – consisting of David J. Burtscher, Fred Stölzel, Robert Elfenbein, Tomm Brümmer and Andreas Reinhard – have consistently pushed boundaries and have established their foundation in the German metal scene.

After their successful debut album Solarray (2019) and struck by the global pandemic, The Oklahoma Kid set their focus on writing new music with one simple goal in mind, to better themselves and give every fan something to crave for – their 2022 album Tangerine Tragic.

Tangerine Tragic is built on the strengths of their debut Solarray. It plays with new ideas and concepts, comes gentle as a breeze and strikes hard as a wrecking ball. The album was recorded and produced by Jan Kerscher (Ghost City Recordings) and mixed and mastered by Lance Prenc (Alpha Wolf, Polaris, Dealer), which gives the production its full-blown punch.

The Oklahoma Kid toured the country with renowned acts such as Stick To Your Guns, Carnifex, EvergreenTerrace and Hatebreed, electrifying crowds with their passionate, relentless performance.

The Oklahoma Kid are no longer an insider tip and a force to be reckoned with. Whether you experience them live at a festival or on record in your living room, The Oklahoma Kid will change your perception of what metal is capable of.

The Oklahoma Kid are:
Tomm Brümmer | Vocals
Fred Stölzel | Guitar

Finland’s Thrash Metal Titans PRESTIGE to Reissue Iconic Album “Parasites In Paradise”, Out August 9th

Finally available again as a remastered reissue: PRESTIGE‘s third album “Parasites In Paradise”!

This album stands out as their most brutal, technical, aggressive, and fastest among the classic PRESTIGE releases. Remastered by Alexander Krull at Mastersound Studios and slated for re-release on August 9, 2024 via Massacre Records, available only as CD Digipak and Ltd. Vinyl LP (red + black vinyl), the pre-sale has just started at: https://lnk.to/parasitesinparadisereissue

This record serves as the band’s response to emerging music trends, notably the grunge scene. Following their hiatus in the autumn of 1992, they managed to avoid producing any awkward grunge-influenced albums, unlike many significant thrash bands of that era. This consistent adherence to their unique style sets PRESTIGE apart.

For the production of the album, the band chose a new studio and a different producer as for their previous releases. This time produced by Jani Viitanen and PRESTIGE, “Parasites In Paradise” was recorded in July/August 1991 at Harasoo-Studio. They paid careful attention to both the songs and the production, spending more time in the studio than ever before; roughly three weeks in total.

If you appreciate high-speed thrash with attitude and no compromises, this album is a must-listen for you!

Album Tracklist:

  1. Parasites In Paradise
  2. Will This Ever End?
  3. Crack Children
  4. Sniff
  5. Barbarella
  6. Offender
  7. That Makes Me Sick
  8. Too Greedy
  9. From The Cradle To The Grave
  10. Hop 2, 3 ,4
  11. Break The Ice
  12. Thursday The 12th
  13. Lack Of Sanity
  14. I Ain’t The One

Line up:

Jan ”Örkki” Yrlund – guitars
Aku Kytölä – bass, vocals
