CREST OF DARKNESS‘ new album “My Ghost” will be released in the next October. Now it’s time to present “Call Of The Moon” the first single that the band releases today on vinyl as a 7″ EP and available at https://shorturl.at/HCBau and in digital format.
A lyric video created by Marcelo Silva (Motion Graphics) can be seen below.
Just two songs but a great release featuring the title track, “Call Of The Moon” for sure one of the songs that better represents the extreme inner journey that Ingar and his bandmates undertake this time, and a side B track, one of the most progressive episode of their entire career. It’s titled “The Awekening” and presents Roy Nikolaisen’s magnificent trumpet in an extreme context such as that of Black Metal.
Recorded at MLP Studios with Nils H. Maehlum at the helm and mastered by Giuseppe Nicolò (aka Buzz) at Lost Soul Studio, “Call Of The Moon” represents the first step of a long trip that will open us the doors to “My Ghost” an album that the same Ingar Amlien admits to be the more personal album ever created by the band. We just have to wait and we are sure that it will not disappoint you.
Inspired by French electronic music, “XRAY” is a mesmerizing fusion of brooding electronic beats and evocative lyrics. The Anix delves into themes of fleeting connections and emotional detachment, underscored by a haunting melody. With lyrics like “Backseat ride, your touch is skeptical” and “I’m not the same, you’ll never know,” the track captures a sense of introspective melancholy and unresolved tension, resonating deeply with listeners.
“XRAY” is a captivating blend of alternative and electronic music, distinguished by its chill mood and atmospheric soundscapes. The track’s pulsating rhythm, driven by synth and drums, creates a compelling backdrop for this exploration of vulnerability and resilience. The single sets the stage for what promises to be an innovative and emotionally charged album.
The Anix is the alternative / electronic-rock project of Los Angeles artist/producer Brandon Smith. Known for pushing creative boundaries with his genre-blending mix of alternative rock with dark melancholic undertones drenched in an array of synthesizers, The Anix’s music has captured the attention of global editorial curators with prominent features across official playlists from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Yandex Music, and more. The Anix has received press support from outlets like Revolver, Substream, and Outburn magazines as well as features in TV and video game franchises including Call of Duty, Destiny, Mass Effect, and WWE.
Cairo Knife Fight have released a new EP ‘Dream Season,’ their first collection of songs since their 2017 album ‘Seven.’
Reflecting on the journey since their last release, Gaffaney states, “Dream Season is our first collection of songs since our last album ‘Seven’ in 2017. Those years have been full of myriad ups and downs, like all lives, so it’s great to see the shore again and be still here, still working.”
The EP’s artwork, crafted by Barny Bewick at Indium Design, is a tribute to Théodore Géricault’s iconic painting “The Raft of the Medusa.” Gaffaney highlights the importance of the creative team surrounding the band, saying, “We sometimes don’t talk enough about the creative work that surrounds a band, and we’re very fortunate to have a group of creative people who have been there with us since the beginning. That might be the legacy of this band that I’m most proud of.”
Previously, CAIRO KNIFE FIGHT released a live version of their 2011 track ‘The Violence of Action’ via Golden Robot Records, bringing fans a powerful, raw live performance that captures the essence of the band’s dynamic sound. The release of ‘The Violence of Action’ feels timely, and it’s still one of my favourite songs, even after all these years,” shares frontman Nick Gaffaney. “It takes me back to the early days of the band, when we were forcing equipment to do things in the looping world it was never designed to do and running with the inspiration wherever it took us.”
‘The Violence of Action’ was originally written in a storage unit in Christchurch, New Zealand, where the band endured the biting winter with only glow-in-the-dark carpet to muffle the sound. This unique environment played a crucial role in shaping the song’s raw energy. The newly released version is a live performance recorded at Kingsize Soundlabs in Los Angeles in 2015, capturing the unfiltered and visceral essence of Cairo Knife Fight.
Cairo Knife Fight is redefining what two musicians can create live, slaying audiences across the globe with their beautiful, yet raw and primal uniqueness. Formed in New Zealand, and now splitting their time between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Cairo Knife Fight is: Nick Gaffaney on lead vocals, drums and keyboard bass (all at the same damn time) and… George Pajon Jr. (Grammy winning guitarist for some of the biggest names in the business: Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Carlos Santana, Macy Gray, John Legend, Nas and Sting, just to name a few) creating seemingly limitless guitar soundscapes and incendiary riffs.
The band’s incorporation of various loops and live treatments defies believability and pushes the limits of what two musicians can do on one stage.
Norwegian gothic doom metal sensations EVIG NATT are thrilled to announce their signing with WormHoleDeath Records for the release of their upcoming album, “Vaketimen.” This exciting collaboration marks a significant milestone in the band’s journey, promising a new chapter of powerful music and captivating performances.
“We’re incredibly excited to partner with WormHoleDeath Records,” states the band. “Their extensive distribution network and deep connections within the metal scene make them the ideal partner for Evig Natt as we embark on this new chapter.”
EVIG NATT’s music is aggressive but subtle, noisy yet beautiful, a maelstrom of symphonic darkness that could only be described as Orchestral Gothic Doom Metal. >From the unholy metal grounds of Karmøy, west Norway, this band follows in the footsteps of Einherjer and Enslaved, featuring ex-band members of both.
EVIG NATT was started as a studio project in 2003, by vocalist Kirsten Jørgensen and bassist Stein Sund. Soon after that, EVIG NATT recruited drummer Harald Magne Revheim. In 2006 EVIG NATT signed with Omvina Records, and released their highly acclaimed debut album «I Am Silence» in early 2007.
EVIG NATT added Oskar Naley on vocals, Ruben Osnes, and Arne Marton Tangjerd on guitars for the recording of their darker and heavier second offering. After signing with Black Bards in 2009 “Darkland” was released to raving reviews in April 2010. This alliance saw EVIG NATT featured in national magazines worldwide, including Metal Hammer and Scream.
EVIG NATT released their third self-titled album «Evig Natt» on March 19th, 2016 and off the back of that got to tour countries such as Belgium and Japan. EVIG NATT’s sound is unique, blending everything from progressive metal to black metal, and incorporates inspiration from bands like Anathema, My Dying Bride, Swallow The Sun, and The Provenance. This is a band to keep an eye out for!
To celebrate their signing with WormHoleDeath, Evig Natt unveils their first single and a stunning accompanying video: “Når Lyset Svikte”.
“Når Lyset Svikte” is available now on all major digital platforms, here.
Translated as “When the Light Fails,” the track delves into the depths of despair, exploring the emotions of surrendering to darkness when the will to fight fades. The song is sung in Evig Natt’s native Norwegian dialect, specifically on their home island of Karmøy. Vocalist Kirsten Jørgensen feels a deep connection to her lyrics in this dialect, making them more direct and emotionally potent.
The video for “Når Lyset Svikte” depicts the terrifying experience of sleep paralysis, where the sufferer may experience hallucinations upon waking or falling asleep. The visuals capture the sheer terror of this phenomenon. The concept was brought to life by the immensely talented filmmaker Thomas Mortveit (Shady Shades) and his incredible crew, with support from Filmkraft AS.
