ROT COVEN Premiere New Track ‘Inverted Chasm’ from Upcoming Album

ROT COVEN have revealed the second preview of their debut album “Nightmares Devour The Waking World“, due out August 15th 2024 via Aesthetic Death. An excerpt of the track “Inverted Chasm” is now streaming at Decibel Magazine.

ROT COVEN is a 2-piece, noise-drenched industrial death metal/sludge band.

MZ sings and plays bass and drums while DD focuses more on guitar, then both members slather everything in layers of noise boxes, scrap metal, ritual drums and processed field recordings. This duo has been creating music together in various bands for around twenty years.

Born of a lifelong love of cosmic horror, heavy riffs, and creeped-out industrial noise, the band that would become ROT COVEN first saw the light of day during the COVID-19 lockdowns of spring 2020.

The initial idea was to fuse ominous dark ambient synth textures with pounding “doom” style drums, but bass, guitars, vocals, and scrap metal percussion were quickly added to the mix resulting in a room-shaking cacophony equal parts Autopsy, Chu Ishikawa and the slow crawling No-Wave dirges of early SWANS.

ROT COVEN‘s first physical release “Nightmares Devour the Waking World” pairs two full-length albums: Phase I (initally self-released through the duo’s bandcamp) and the unreleased follow-up Phase II. Phase I builds colossal sludge riffs out of lurking death industrial dronescapes with the final track erupting into a supernova of scorching psychedelic leads and almost “doomgaze” melodicism, while Phase II descends deeper into the abyss, adding elements of unrelentingly ugly death metal to their apocalyptic scum-dirge.

Both albums explore a planet ravaged by cataclysms – storms of poison ash, churning acidic seas, and deserts that spread like a sentient organism. Colony collapse disorder on a galactic scale. A world where nature is so thoroughly gutted that reality itself starts to corrode, letting something seep in from “outside.” A hostile consciousness so massive and utterly alien that the last remaining humans begin to worship it as a god:

Hideous rituals of blood and fire.
Cathedrals sculpted from scrap metal and the shattered bones of the dead.
The soul slowly, inexorably, replaced by void.

ROT COVEN draws influence from Godflesh, Coffins, Abruptum, Wallowing, Body Void, Ramleh, Pain Teens, White Mice, Throbbing Gristle, Missing Foundation, Melvins, Flipper, early Butthole Surfers, Mighty Sphincter, No Trend, Einstürzende Neubauten, Lustmord and Megaptera.

Tracklist:

Phase I:
01. Blood Pours Out of the Sun
02. Feast of the Rotted Mother
03. Antimatter Halo
04. Queen of the Void
05. Those Who Worship Fallen Stars

Phase II:
01. Inverted Chasm
02. Psychological Contamination Zone
03. Accretion Disk Necropolis

A new era has begun for Togo based metallers ARKA’N ASRAFOKOR [Asrafocore = “Music of the Warriors” (“asrafo” means “warrior” in their mother language)]: their Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM) label debut is finallly out and this special day is even accompanied by a music video for the track ‘Final Tournament.’ It’s a song that celebrates the victory of truth, human unity and dignity over the lies, cowardice and greed of some individuals leading the world and dividing communities while it merges traditional chants and rhythms with the heavy sounds of the guitar, drums and bass in the unique ARKA’N ASRAFOKOR style.

The band state, “The time has come when people need to stop fighting against each other, and face those heartless and weak individuals, pitilessly, and bring them down in order to make them experience the mess they have created. This will be the real battle, the ‘Final Tournament’!”

Stand side by side with ARKA’N ASRAFOKOR in the ‘Final Tournament’ on YouTube:

“Wait till we meet again, you’ll see your fall, wait till we meet again, you’ll be caught!

Come and face the scale. Here we are. The day has come.
Let’s have this final fight. For the destiny of the whole humanity.”

100% created and produced on African soil, “Dzikkuh” (engl.: “Bring Back The Anger”) is a five-year exploration come to fruition. After their debut album “Zã Keli“ [2019], ARKA’N ASRAFOKOR have been deepening their research into their vision of metal stemming from the African continent. The cover artwork illustrates their vision: the group’s #metalfromthemotherland invites you to celebrate humanity and to unite through what they deem is right. It’s a call for justice, a call to resisting what crushes humans, defending our Mother Earth, heralding African wisdom. As a result, “Dzikkuh” showcases the work of the band on a darker and heavier sound that fits the spirit of the lyrics.

In order to celebrate the release of the “Mater Larvarum” gold marbled vinyl (300 copies), DEATHLESS LEGACY drop the “Absolution” official video.

“Absolution” symbolically portrays ‘sin’ in its many forms and delves into the twisted relationship humans have with it. Despite living in a secular Western society, the notion of sin is deeply ingrained in our psyche, lingering despite our efforts to overcome it. Steva takes on the role of Asmodeus, the tempting snake of Eden, the original bringer of knowledge and self-awareness, embodying the archetype of temptation that lives within each of us.

Originally released in 2022 as the sixth studio album of the Italian horror metal visionaires, “Mater Larvarum” is available for the first time in vinyl witnessing the Deathless Legacy unstoppable creepy march.

ASSEMBLE THE CHARIOTS Celebrate “Unyielding Night” Album Release with Video + Single ‘Departure’

Posted by metalshockfinland on July 21, 2024

Finland’s Assemble The Chariots return with a brand new epic, full-length concept album, Unyielding Night, out now via Seek and Strike. They have also unveiled new single, ‘Departure’, which perfectly showcases the band’s dynamic song-writing prowess and encapsulates the overall tone of the record.

‘Departure’ is an intricate extreme metal masterpiece and its video is equally as bombastic as the song itself, which quickly pulls you into another dimension with its grandiose landscape. Assemble The Chariots are poised to cement themselves as one of the genre’s best with this new album, which is simply undeniable.

Assemble The Chariots state: “From the beginning, our collective mindset was to primarily focus on the story and to ignore musical trends and boundaries, as we wanted the album to feel like a movie soundtrack. We also wanted to make playing the songs live fun as well. This means that instead of only writing super technical and complex songs, we took a different approach by contrasting the more challenging parts with more simpler elements whenever the songs needed them. This provided us the freedom to perform and enjoy the music on a whole different level.

“Our newest single, ‘Departure,’ is where things get f*cking real, story-wise. This is the end of this story, but the beginning of a grand one. This means that since the beginning it was clear that this was going to be the opening track for the album, and as such, will be the introduction to the main theme/melody found throughout the album, in almost every song. To contrast this, it was decided that the lyrics of the song would tell the end of the album, and all the other songs in between it. Chronologically, ‘Departure’ is what happens basically right after the battle that our previous single, ‘Galactic Order,’ is about. This means that while the album is absolutely crafted to be musically cohesive, but story-wise there are a few time warps.

“Our new music is a non-traditional combination of traditional elements to create an epic showcase of what metal can be in modern times. The way the songs have been arranged and composed keeps the listener aware and drags you into the song. Every note and hit has been carefully crafted with a greater picture in mind. This, in conjunction with the highly thought-out lore behind the songs, creates a combination that truly feels fresh and unique in a pretty saturated field. Our sincere wish is that anyone who stumbles upon this album, would be open to listening to it as a piece of heavy metal history, instead of an example of what a specific genre should to them sound like.

“If you like blast-beats, mega-epic orchestrations, spectacular live shows and nerding out to intricate lore, or if you are just yearning for a unique sounding metal band to add to your song libraries, Assemble The Chariots is your band.”

TYSTNADEN Release New Single + Video ‘Forsaken’ from Upcoming Album

Italian Modern Metallers TYSTNADEN have premiered their new single and artful video for ‘Forsaken’, taken from the band’s upcoming album “The Black Swan”, set to be released on September 13th via Elevate Records.

TYSTNADEN explain the thematic background of their
new single and the video for “Forsaken”:

“We are concerned with the terrible topic of war and all the immense suffering that still emanates from it – all of us who are doing well in our everyday lives should always be aware of this.

‘Forsaken’ reveals what we’ve become used to: brutality and pain as an alarming norm. Those living in this harsh reality soon fade into oblivion.

In the music video, only the eyes of the pure can pierce through the brutality to truly see the hate and suffering. Confronted with an animated cubist painting, Anna begins to witness everything, feeling the pain, fear, and abandonment in her own flesh.

The adults and the less pure remain blind to this reality; for a moment, Anna even sees them as part of the brutality. But eventually, everything returns to normal, as that’s how we all continue to move forward, even the purest. And thus, they remain forsaken.”

Note: this album features songs with single-word titles, a stylistic choice that reflects the band’s belief that the impact, strength and intensity of a single word can communicate more than many …

After years of silence, the Italian band returned to their strengths in 2023 and began to cultivate their roots with a valuable maturity. And so the songs that make up their new album “The Black Swan” were brought to vibrant life.

TYSTNADEN have entrusted the production of their new album to Fabio D’Amore (Serenity, Perchta) at Synonym Of Sound Studio, which is located between Silz in Austria and Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy.

The mix of this fourth album benefits from the collaboration with Francesco Marzona and the title is a tribute to Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s 2007 essay in which he discussed the powerful effects of rare and unpredictable events and the human tendency to find simple explanations for these events after the fact.
This theory has since become known as the “Black Swan Theory”.

TYSTNADEN say about their new album:
“As adult human beings, we’re accustomed to making decisions based on our experiences, roughly calculating some risks, and relying on predictions…
We often overlook the existence and significance of black swans, which can sometimes lead to disastrous consequences. Let’s embrace uncertainty, open the eyes of our minds and hearts.”

Band explains about the new photo (top above):
“In this image, each of us wears an emotion.
Our faces have been distorted, just as war distorts souls and everyday reality.
We are part of a normality that should not be considered normal.
With this, we unveil the first layer of the intricate journey that gave birth to the
new single and video ‘Forsaken‘.
The face painting blends the horror of war with the beauty of art.”

Giulia Coletti • Guitars
