PSYCHOTIC WALTZ: Two More Albums + Demos Compilation from Back Catalogue Re-Issue Campaign Out Now

After having successfully released their 5th and comeback studio album “The God-Shaped Void” in 2020 via InsideOutMusic, US Progressive Metal pioneers and innovators PSYCHOTIC WALTZ are now finally making their entire high-quality catalogue available again on LP/CD formats worldwide via the label too.

Across two chapters of re-issues with street dates in May & July 2024, the band’s classic first four albums – “A Social Grace” (1990), “Into The Everflow” (1992), “Mosquito” (1994, now with new artwork by Travis Smith) and “Bleeding” (1996) – are available newly re-mastered by Patrick W. Engel / Temple Of Disharmony as 2CD Digipaks with tons of rare or previously unreleased bonus material as well as expanded layouts.

The main albums are additionally re-issued as Ltd. Gatefold coloured LP editions on 180g vinyl.

An additional demo rarities compilation (of some of the bonus material) entitled “To Chase The Stars (Demos 1987 – 1989)” is also available as Ltd. Gatefold 2LP edition, making this re-issue campaign an exciting and indispensable project for both longtime connoisseurs of the band as well as more recent, new-generation members of the ever-growing progressive music community.

They sound better than ever, thanks to the meticulous mastering done by Patrick W. The latest and still current PSYCHOTIC WALTZ album “The God-Shaped Void” showcased the band’s first new music in 23 years and managed to achieve official sales chart entries in the following countries upon release in 2020: Germany: # 9, Switzerland: # 8, Austria: # 26.

Written and recorded with their full original line-up, the basic tracks for “The God-Shaped Void” were recorded with engineer Ulrich Wild in the band’s hometown of San Diego, then the rest of the recordings at Studio D in Austria and finally the material was mixed/mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Fates Warning) at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. The album’s Artwork was created by longtime visual partner Travis Smith (Katatonia, Riverside, Nevermore).

SARCATOR Sign Worldwide Deal with Century Media Records, European Tour with HELLRIPPER Starts This Week

Century Media Records is thrilled to welcome SARCATOR, four young men from Trollhättan, Sweden who have dedicated their lives and souls to blood, fire and death.
 
At the young age of 14-20 SARCATOR released their first demo tape, Visions of Purgatory, via the American label Redefining Darkness Records in 2019. Just two years later the quadrumvirate got nominated for best rock/metal album for the Swedish music award P3 Guld with their 2020’s self-titled debut release for the same label. After releasing their 2nd album, Alkahest, via Black Lion Records in 2022, SARCATOR finally got a proper chance to play live, captivating crowds with their intense, blackened live shows. With their current line-up fully committed to the band despite their young age (all members are between 19 and 25) it was time for them to record their 3rd album which will be out via Century Media Records in early 2025 and bring SARCATOR to the forefront of an emergent, highly determined new generation of Scandinavian extreme metal bands.

RITUAL Reveal Video Trailer for Upcoming “The Story of Mr. Bogd – Part 1” Album

Much curiosity was aroused when Karisma Records recently announced the details of the upcoming album from Swedish Prog Rockers RITUAL.  Primarily because this was to be the band’s first release in 17 years, but also because the title “The Story of Mr. Bogd – Part 1”, implied that therein there is a tale to be told!
 
And indeed there is, because, as fans of the band will know, RITUAL are quite adept at storytelling, as their previous five albums have shown, and this time they have chosen to tell the tale of Mr Bogd, an affluent,  well-established member of society who comes to the realisation that his life holds no satisfaction for him.  But what else can he do?  Well, he can leave his job and his comfortable urban life, and seek out an alternative. 
 
So, together with his coachman Parkhurst, and, riven with doubts, but convinced of the rightness of what he is doing, off he sets on a journey through an increasingly wild and dangerous environment.
 
And now, thanks to the vivid imagination of artist Javier “Canelito” Herbozo, we are being afforded not just a musical glimpse into “The Story of Mr. Bogd – Part 1”, but also a visual one, in the form of a Video Trailer that can be seen below.

At its heart, “The Story of Mr. Bogd – Part 1” is a story about maintaining ones innocence, and finding sanity and self- esteem, and deciding what we are prepared to give up in order to do so. It is a blissful blend of road movie, classic fairytale, buddy movie and adventure epic, set in an imaginary land in an era reminiscent of late 19th century Europe. And its musical soundtrack covers a large amount of stylistic ground. Ground that ranges from intense and powerful rock, to musically elaborate and intricate tracks, along with some odd and even quirky moments, and of course some acoustic, folky songs.

When they formed in 1993, RITUAL immediately established a distinct progressive style that is very much their own.  Influenced by the progressive rock and hardrock of the ‘70s, as well as contemporary bands, RITUAL’s sound has always been song-based, melodic and intense, with a great stylistic variation, and plenty of folk music influences seeping in. The latter feature is not least due to the band’s frequent use of acoustic instruments like bouzouki, mandola, whistles and the Swedish nyckelharpa (a keyed fiddle).

With a  lineup composed of Patrik Lundström on lead vocals and guitar, Fredrik Lindqvist on bass, mandola, dulcimer, recorder and vocals, Jon Gamble on keyboards and  vocals, and Johan Nordgren on drums, nyckelharpa and vocals, RITUAL have established themselves as a confident and powerful live band through numerous tours around Europe and appearances at international festivals such as Rites Of Spring Fest in the USA and Baja Prog in Mexico.

RITUAL’s next live appearance will be on the 20th July at the Night of the Prog Festival, at the Loreley Amphitheater, in Bornich, Germany.

LORD OF THE LOST Unleash Live Version + Video of Poignant Hit ‘Ruins’

LORD OF THE LOST have revealed their live version of “Ruins”, cut from their upcoming live album, LIVE at W:O:A, out August 2, 2024 via Napalm Records! The single is originally featured on their Napalm Records studio album debut, Thornstar (2018, #6 Official German Album Charts).

After two European tours with Iron Maiden, participation in the Eurovision Song Contest finals, a #1 charting album, and an almost completely sold out European tour, the band played their first ever mainstage performance at Wacken Open Air in 2023, when they closed the festival day as “deadliners” after Iron Maiden. The set was recorded and will be released as Live at W:O:A, which is “a dream come true”, as Chris Harms stated during the show.

SATAN Announce European Tour Dates for September 2024

Long-running heavy metal icons, SATAN, will spend September roadbound on a month-long European tour. The journey begins with seven dates through the UK and Ireland with special guests, Seven Sisters followed by a stop at Pyrenean Warriors Open Air Fest in Torreilles, France. SIX FEET UNDER will be touring in support of their fiery fourteenth studio album, Killing For Revenge, released earlier this year via Metal Blade Records!

A gnarly beast of a record that’s not for the faint-hearted, Killing For Revenge dishes up nightmare-inducing imagery courtesy of Barnes via the vocalist’s trademark guttural vocals. Both the album title and darkly detailed red-hued album cover by artist Vince Locke are perfect containers for the brutality within.

Forged as a side project for Barnes during his final years with the band that he co-founded, Cannibal Corpse, SIX FEET UNDER became the frontman’s sole focus in 1995, coinciding with the release of their debut, Haunted. Only Barnes remains from SIX FEET UNDER‘s original incarnation, but the quality has remained remarkably consistent. The current lineup of Barnes, guitarists Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) and Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell, and drummer Marco Pitruzzella make for a devastating unit.

Killing For Revenge marks the second album that Barnes and Owen have created together since reuniting for 2020’s Nightmares Of The Decomposed. Owen also produced the record. The chemistry between the five men is palpable. From the opening moments of “Know-Nothing Ingrate,” which kicks off the vile proceedings, it’s immediately clear that SIX FEET UNDER focused their energies into something that’s as brutal, lyrically visceral, and musically dazzling as one would hope for from the ground-breaking Tampa-bred death metal lineup.
