Ahead of its release this Friday on the twisted Time To Kill Records roster, Decibel Magazine today presents an exclusive stream of “Internal Torment”, the merciless sophomore LP from Finnish death metal crew CRYPTIC HATRED.
Inarguably the band’s most diverse work to date,“Internal Torment” ventures far beyond the conventions of old school death metal, without surrendering an ounce of viciousness. Strong nuances of doom and creepy melodies can be heard throughout the record’s ten tracks concluding fittingly with a suffocating wall of sound that leaves its listeners bruised, battered, and shaken.
The album highlights the band’s surgical and intuitive take on death metal mechanics – yet also channels eerie atmospheres and dimensions through moments of tension and tranquility, coexisting in a fragile balance. Between riffs born of primal rage, to melodies seemingly from other worlds, “Internal Torment” is an album that delivers on all levels of darkness in uncanny and transcendental ways. Brace yourself for a journey through the unknown, rendered in haunting, mesmerisingly cryptic death metal!
Tracklist:
01. Death Is Upon You 02. Breeding of Evil 03. Chasm of Void 04. Homicidal Intentions 05. Mesmerized by the Malignant Gaze 06. Tomb of Desecration 07. Mauled To Flesh 08. Beyond Hatred 09. The Passage 10. Internal Torment
CRYPTIC HATRED emerged from the depths of the Finnish underground death metal scene in 2020, with their debut demo titled “Free From The Grave”. Founded in 2019 by a group of four school friends driven by their passion for extreme music, the band quickly gained recognition for their intense and visceral old school sound.
Initially drawing inspiration from the old-school Florida death metal scene, CRYPTIC HATRED embarked on a journey of sonic exploration, pushing the boundaries of their genre and forging their own unique path. With a relentless dedication to their craft, the band honed their skills and evolved their sound, blending elements of death metal with haunting melodies and cryptic atmospheres. As CRYPTIC HATRED continued to refine their sound, they gained a reputation for their mesmerizing live performances, where the raw energy of their music collided with an aura of mystique and darkness.
In 2022, CRYPTIC HATRED released their debut album, “Nocturnal Sickness” which received critical acclaim for its unrelenting intensity and haunting melodies. The album showcased the band’s ability to seamlessly weave together brutality and their cryptic harmonies, leaving a lasting impression on listeners.
Now, as they prepare to unleash their sophomore album, “Internal Torment”, upon the world in the summer of 2024, CRYPTIC HATRED stands poised to solidify their place as pioneers of their cryptic metal take on death metal. With each track crafted to evoke a sense of inner thoughts and existential dread, “Internal Torment” promises to be a journey all the way from Florida Death Metal bomb blast beats, to melancholic Finnish death metal atmospheres.
Driven by a relentless passion for their art and an unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of extreme music, CRYPTIC HATRED continues to defy expectations and redefine what it means to create truly mesmerizing and cryptic metal. With their sophomore release on the horizon, the band’s enigmatic allure shows no signs of fading, ensuring that their legacy will endure long into the future.
The gates of “Upswing” open and introduce you to the amazing world of PANTHEØN BAND with “Man On The Run”, the first single from the Roman band’s 2nd album. Watch the lyric video below.

Finnish melodic death metal project Magnadur is excited to announce the release of their latest single, “Dog of Baskerville”. This electrifying track sets the stage for their upcoming third album, Unholy Punisher, slated for release on September 6th.
“Dog of Baskerville” delves into the mystical and legendary tale of the Baskerville dog, a famous mystery from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories. The intriguing narrative, combined with Magnadur’s signature brutal vocals, hard-hitting drums, and heavy guitar riffs, makes this one of the standout tracks on the forthcoming album.
Fronted by Tomi Perrakoski, renowned for his Metal Madness Weekly podcast, Magnadur continues to push the boundaries of death and dark melodic metal. Perrakoski’s passion for the genre is evident in the depth and intensity of their music. He channels his energy into creating compositions that are both heavier and more brutal, while maintaining a melodic core that resonates with fans.
Perrakoski’s inspiration for “Dog of Baskerville” and the entire Unholy Punisher album is deeply rooted in the movie world and personal history. Drawing from the rich legacy of his grandfather’s brother, Harry Bergström, one of the first and most influential composers in Finnish movie history, Perrakoski infuses his music with cinematic storytelling and heavy, unseen melodies. The lyrics of many songs on the album are inspired by movie narratives and real-life events, offering a unique and immersive listening experience.
“Unholy Punisher” promises to be Magnadur’s best album to date, featuring a collection of tracks that showcase the band’s evolution and artistic growth. Fans can expect a blend of intense melodic death metal with compelling stories that draw from classic tales and modern influences.

Axe shredders can now conjure the wickedly distorted riffs and eerie, melodic dissonance that Necrofier harnessed on their most recent album, Burning Shadows in the Southern Night. Idiot Box Effects has blessed the band with their very own custom guitar pedal.
“The new Echo Drive is a collaboration between me and the KILLER black metal band Necrofier”, says Atarimatt, who’s been making effects and noiseboxes full time under the name IdiotBox since 2011. “Plug this sucker in and bring on TOTAL SOUTHERN DARKNESS!!!”
The Necrofier Echo drive is a tube screamer-style overdrive pedal. It runs into two separate echo circuits. The left switch is for echoes, while the right switch does overdrive. Each knob is named after a different raw ingredient in the band’s evil alchemy: Reflection (echo 1), Chaos (echo 2), Alchemy (echo signal mix), Flame (overdrive volume), Strike (overdrive intensity) and Darkness (tone).
A limited run of first-edition, autographed Necrofier Echo Drive pedals are available on Bandcamp while supplies last. The pedal can also be purchased through the IdiotBox Effects webstore.

Deep within the scorching cauldron of Texas, the alchemists of Necrofier have brewed another potent dose of American black metal with their sophomore full-length, ‘Burning Shadows in the Southern Night.’ The Houston four-piece honors the time-tested virtues of traditional black and heavy metal, even taking an organic sonic approach, tapping seven-time Grammy-nominated producer and engineer Joel Hamilton (Unsane, Tom Waits, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, etc.) to lend his magic touch for a natural sound.
“The goal going into the new record was to start setting ourselves apart from our contemporaries,” explains Necrofier drummer Dobber Beverly. “One of those ways was changing what the record sounded like. Moving away from the clinical and sterile nature that most productions suffer from and back into a real room with real instruments and performances. Our friend and esteemed producer/engineer Joel Hamilton had expressed interest in venturing back into the metal world and offered to make the record with us at his facility, Studio G Brooklyn. The results will speak for themselves hopefully, as this record breathes and spits fire wherever it’s played.”
“Dobber and Joel have become good friends since they recorded the last Oceans of Slumber album with him, adds Necrofier guitarist and vocalist Bakka. “After that, Joel wanted to record something heavy, so we made the trip to New York City to record in his legendary studio. It was an amazing experience in a great studio; besides having all the gear, he also created an environment where we challenged ourselves and brought everything up to the next level.”
‘Burning Shadows in the Southern Night’ doesn’t just simply pick off where Necrofier’s debut album left off, but displays a conscientious effort to double down on the elements that made ‘Prophecies of Eternal Darkness’ successful. The solos are more plentiful and intricate, the hooks are more anthemic, and the overall musicianship is bolder and more daring. Speaking of the band’s evolution, Bakka explains, “I think this collection of songs represents us very well. We have grown together as a band and it shows in the new songs. Also, for this record we flew to NYC and recorded all day long for 10 days straight. I love recording this way because it captures a certain magic. The whole band is immersed in the process and it’s all we would think, do, live and breathe during the process.”
Another core facet of Necrofier’s allure is being a black metal band from Texas. “Where you live always helps shape someone,” says Bakka. “It helps shape our style and tone in ways, it’s hot most of the year, so as we burn, it gives us warmer tones and more of a heavy metal influence than when compared to our brothers from the North.”
To that avail, Necrofier isn’t your typical black metal band, and so this isn’t your typical black metal record as there’s a healthy amount of traditional metal influences, particularly within the guitar work. While conceptually, the band doesn’t heavily rely on Satanic themes, exploring deeper human philosophies and the occult like burning for your dreams or spiraling out on a psychedelic trip and exploring the beyond. “While there isn’t overt satanic worship in the lyrics, I would still say that he is a friend of ours,” Bakka cheekily says. “There are Occult themes on this record, but at the same time, it does take a philosophical approach.”
Further illustrating the influence of their environment, Necrofier also heavily explores one of Southern America’s most fabled myths. “The new record touches on selling your soul at the crossroads,” adds Bakka. “I like to take a different approach and touch on the elements of the esoteric world and dive into the forbidden or hidden that surrounds us in our lives every day.”
As the Texan black metal outlaws saddle up for record two, they are leading the charge as one of the contemporary purveyors of black metal revivalism. ‘Burning Shadows in the Southern Night’ is certain to elicit a sense of nostalgia for those who dare to lay ears on this vicious new offering.
