Deathgrind band K.Y.M.I. from Finland releases their debut album this autumn via Inverse Records. The band’s brutal lyrics are about everyday life during the busy adult years and the mid-life crisis. The songs are a result of emotional outbursts packed into a form of brutal deathgrind.
The first single, RAATELIJA, is a story of a father suffering from a constant lack of sleep. The few mornings when it would be possible to sleep are repeatedly shattered by the relentless pet cat who wake its master in its hunger for food. It stalks and corrupts!

K.Y.M.I. is a one-man project by Kalle Ylönen, that will in the future also produce Viking jewelry and other artistic craftwork under the name K.Y.M.I.paja (smithery). Tuukka Ojansivu, a strong supporter of the project, is responsible for arranging the songs and recording the instruments for the upcoming album LIHA. The vocal recording, mixing and mastering of the album was done by Pasi Löfgren at Inka Studios.

The band has already proven their ability to captivate a broad audience, especially with their latest album, Sweet Poison (2022), which reached #13 on the German charts, and with its predecessor, Nothing But Wild (2019), the band entered the top 10 in Germany. Over the years, they have solidified themselves as a staple and listener favorite on international rock radio, but the best way to experience their incredible and untamable rock’n’roll energy is during their famous live shows. They were not only the first German band to perform at KISS Kruise in 2018 and 2019, but they also supported the living legends on their German shows and shared stages with immortal Aerosmith, Foreigner and the German rock icons Scorpions. In 2023, they welcomed back guitarist Norman Bites and united as a quintet.
Today, the band has revealed the catchy, classy opening track, “When You Fall In Love“, together with an official music video. THE NEW ROSES comment: “When I wrote ‘When You Fall In Love’, I just played around with that riff and then imagined us in the middle of a live show. I thought, ‘what should happen now to put a smile on everybody’s face, but make them wanna rock out at the same time?’ After that, the song kind of wrote itself and I just had to pick it like a flower…“
Title track “Attracted To Danger” is one of the album’s absolute highlights, combining smashing guitars with a raging hymn-like refrain and a stunning guitar solo, all topped with Timmy Rough’s incredible vocals. Overall, THE NEW ROSES present a heavier, rougher side, as is evident on the stomping “Four Wheels” with it’s heavy riffs, or closing track “Whiskey In The Backseat”, offering a heavier melody and dramatic audacity, like strong whiskey running down your throat. But still, the quartet stays true to their trademarks, delivering timeless hard rock hymns while unleashing a fiery energy and heavier touch on tracks like “Bring The Thunder”, then hitting differently when Timmy Rough presents the full range of his vocal skills on “This Heart”. Next, “Spirit Of A Rebel” creates a lighter atmosphere and invites listeners to celebrate life together under the sun. There’s room for calmer and more emotional sounds as “Natural Born Vagabonds” creates an authentic bonfire-like atmosphere. A more romantic side manifests often in the lyrics, but culminates in the deeply moving “Hold Me Up” – a duet with Scotland-based lead singer Gill Montgomery (The Hot Damn, The Amorettes). As her soft voice melts tenderly with Timmy’s rough timbre, the track succeeds as an emotional masterpiece of a rock ballad, marking a romantic ending to a wild love story. The album is wrapped up by a cover version by Neil Young’s iconic hit single “Rockin’ In The Free World”, making it their very own – and by that claiming their rightful place in the upper echelons of the international hard rock scene!

Combining angry and furious death metal and grindcore, I, Cursed is originally the brutal band of Eero Haula and Ville-Veikko Laaksonen, who are known from Atlases, Marto and Oceanwake, among others. In the wake of their new Death Holograms EP, the band announces that Guitarist Nico Brander of Marto and drummer Arttu Leppänen of Atlases and Marto are now permanent members of the band, having previously played live with I, Cursed.
“Death Holograms” EP, released on July 17th 2024 is produced by I, Cursed and Jerkka Perälä of Soft Neon Audiovisual, whose handprint can be heard and seen in the mixing, mastering, cover art and lyric video for the “Death Holograms” EP. The release of the singles and the “Death Holograms” EP is handled in cooperation by Finnish record labels Inverse Records and Meara Music which is also an agency and event producer based in Ulvila.

Combining angry and furious death metal and grindcore, I, Cursed, from the Pori / Ulvila area, is a brutal dredging of Ville-Veikko Laaksonen and Eero Haula, known from Atlases, Marto and Oceanwake, among others, which is fed to the Finnish metal scene in an atonal coldness. I, Cursed’s music is a mix of something old and familiar, the HM-2 sound of Swedish grind, and somewhat more modern and crushing production. The line-up of the band in July 2024 is completed by guitarist Nico Brander from Marto and drummer Arttu Leppänen from Atlases and Marto. FFO Coldworker, Gadget, Nasum & Rotten Sound.
Bonn area thrashers FABULOUS DESASTER are back with something new/old! “Hungry For Life” is one of the band’s oldest songs and was originally on the “Stay Hungry” demo from 2005.
In order to breathe new life into this timeless classic, which is still in the live repertoire, it was re-recorded in Soundsight Studio last year under the direction of Armin Rave. As a special bonus, the song also features the band’s original bassist Patrick “Bude” Hausmann on vocals. Rumor has it that the guys are also working on a new album, which will probably be released in spring next year. But more on that in a suitable place. Until then, you can pass the time with the single “Hungry For Life” on all popular download and streaming platforms!
