VEIL OF THE SERPENT Return with Jonestown Inspired New Single ‘Death Cult’

Heavy metal masters VEIL OF THE SERPENT make their crushing return, as the band releases their first new music since their breathtaking “Gallery Of Sin II” EP in October 2023!

Inspired by the horrific happenings in Jonestown, “Death Cult” is another intense metal anthem in the band’s discography, that takes listeners down a merciless dark path, back to the traces of the cruel happenings on November 18, 1978 in Guyana.

Singer James about the song:
“The Jonestown Massacre was a traumatic event in United States history. Though it occurred around 50 years ago, the underlying factors that led to their demise are still in present in the world today. Power, greed and megalomania fuel cult leaders and their flock to attempt to transcend being human. We tried to write this song as historically accurate and respectful to the victims as possible. Becoming a victim of a cult is not something people do on purpose. It is our duty as family, friends, and neighbors to save as many victims of cults in the future and those who do not realize they are in one today.”

Drummer Felix adds:
“We worked for quite a while on this one and we’re proud that “Death Cult” is finally unleashed. Actually it’s the only stand alone release from Veil Of The Serpent for 2024. I don’t want to give away any details to spoil the surprise, but trust me, we have something huge planned for later this year. Stay tuned!”

“Death Cult” is out now on all major streaming platforms. Check it out HERE.

And if that wasn’t enough excitement for one day, the band also released a brand new lyric video for the song.

About the band:
VEIL OF THE SERPENT is a multi-national heavy metal band that was founded in 2021 by guitarist Gene and his son Felix. The two mooted the idea of working together in 2020. One year later they found a very talented singer in James who completed the band’s line-up.

VEIL OF THE SERPENT is:
James – Vocals
Gene – Guitars
Felix – Drums

IZZY REIGN Releases New Single + Lyric Video ‘The Sunken Place’

Inspired by the scenes from the movie Get Out, Izzy Reign‘s latest release “The Sunken Place” is the first single from her next album due out early 2025.

Energetic and fierce, “The Sunken Place” is a deep dive into personal introspection. In her own words Izzy Reign explains, “Creating this song, for me, it was a way to reflect on a personal quality of mine that I’ve always disliked about myself. The Ability to manipulate situations or opinions of other people. Although knowing this ability personally stems from learned survival mode. It is written from the perspective of those who use this ability for their own advantage. The inspiration heavily derived from the film Get Out.”

“The Sunken Place” stands as a testament to Izzy Reign‘s ability to push the boundaries of genres, featuring a potent blend of synth, drums, guitar, and bass wrapped around an electrifying dichotic vocal performance from the queen herself. Surreal to brutal, hypnotic to raging, Izzy Reign hits both self reflection and deep narrative the single captures the essence of metalcore and alternative metal while weaving in EDM elements for a truly unique sound. “The Sunken Place” is a tantalizing introduction to Izzy Reign‘s upcoming album.

Bold. Eclectic. Rebellious. Izzy Reign thrives on originality and thinking outside the box. Her music is nothing short of a reflection of this. Her father was an avid drummer and she grew up singing to Alanis Morissette, Jewel, and Madonna with her mother. Inspired by Enter Shikari’s music video “Sorry You Are Not A Winner” and the musical stylings of Imogen Heap, Izzy took the plunge into the industry and played her first live show when she was 15 years old.

Since then she’s taken a deeper dive into production, songwriting and performing, working with a variety of artists that come through the production house she shares with producers Jon Eberhard (I Prevail, Skillet, Sleeping With Sirens) and Nick Matzkows (Wind Walkers, Until I Wake, ENMY, Attack! Attack!). Over the past four years she has released a myriad of covers, originals and music videos on her YouTube channel racking up millions of views. She has received notable attention for her popular The Nightmare Before Christmas cover of “This Is Halloween”, which has over 10 million streams across Spotify and YouTube along with 25,000 videos using the sound on TikTok.

In 2023 Izzy came to the attention of the US-based record label FiXT, through the discovery of her independent release, “Broken By Design”, which showcased a new edge to Izzy’s sound. Signing on for a multi-album deal, Izzy Reign is now set to release her debut album with FiXT in 2024.

ANOTHER NEIGHBOR DISAPPEARED Release New Single ‘Washed’, New Album Out Now

Posted by metalshockfinland on June 29, 2024

Portland, Oregon Progressive/Post Rock crew, Another Neighbor Disappeared have today released their new album ‘How To Stay Conscious While Drowning’, featuring recent single ‘Molar’, and new track, ‘Washed’.

Featuring eight atmospheric sonic cuts embedded with a captivating, and at times, ominous aural landscapes, the four-piece present their sophomore LP with new single ‘Washed’, which is also released today in conjunction with the album.

For fans of ‘Explosions in the Sky’, ‘Pelican’, ‘…And So I Watch You From Afar’, and ‘Russian Circles’, ‘How To Stay Conscious…’ sees the band delve deep into the subconscious where they explore a wide scale of emotions through a captivating soundscape.

Speaking of the album the band says; “Each track on our album is born from a distinct feeling at its inception, relying solely on emotion to convey its essence since there are no lyrics to guide the listener. These songs reflect a chapter of our creative journey, capturing moments of inspiration, experimentation, and personal growth. Together, they form a tapestry of sound that speaks to the essence of our musical evolution.”

‘How to Stay Conscious While Drowning’ track-by-track breakdown…
1. Molar
The track, ‘Molar’ was inspired by an overwhelming sense of anxiety, specifically associated with the growing void in todays society. The flourishing intensity of the track reflects the increasing stress that society puts on people, driving them to a breaking point or sorts”.
2. Washed
An up-tempo piece with a dark undertone, ‘Washed’ draws inspiration from the atmospheric style of Interpol. The main riff and lead lines drive a rhythmic verse that culminates in a powerful chorus, lifting the song with each progression.
3. Not a Dead World
Amidst life’s escalating pressures, ‘Not A Dead World’ offers a sanctuary of calm and hope. Structured in distinct sections that build in intensity, it’s a dynamic piece that resonates deeply, particularly in our live performances.
4. Breathe
‘Breathe’ captures the essence of breaking free from the suffocating routine of everyday life. The first half symbolises breaking through barriers, while the latter half evokes a sense of rebirth and renewal, akin to a refreshing breath of air.
5. This is Called
Breaking away from our typical style, ‘This Is Called’ embraces a straightforward rock vibe, reflecting our desire to challenge and explore new musical territories.
6. Click
‘Click’ experiments with subtle shifts in time signatures, aiming for a seamless listener experience where changes are felt rather than explicitly noticed. This approach adds a layer of intrigue to the song’s structure, inviting deeper engagement.
7. Math
Born during the Covid lockdown, ‘Math’ emerged organically from remote jam sessions in our home studios. Infused with upbeat rhythms and unconventional time signatures, it stands apart musically.
8. Euclid
With ‘Euclid’, we delve deeper into unconventional time signatures while ensuring the song remains engaging. Balancing complexity with accessibility, we aimed for a composition that challenges without overwhelming.

Background: Another Neighbor Disappeared is an American four-piece instrumental alternative/experimental band hailing from Portland, Oregon. Known for their dense combinations of different melodies and extended track lengths. Their distinctive sound draws from post-rock, math-rock, and other heavier influences.

Live Performances: When performing live, Another Neighbor Disappeared is noted for their ability to replicate and even expand upon their recorded material. This is achieved through the use of sampling, an extensive array of effect pedals, and loop pedals to build layers of sound. Their live shows are atmospheric, highlighting their entirely instrumental style.

Musical Style and Influences: The band’s sound has evolved towards a more indie/experimental direction, with increased use of effects and cleaner guitars. While they are often compared to bands like Russian Circles and God Is an Astronaut, they cite heavier acts such as, And So I Watch You from Afar, Body Hound, and Pelican as recent influences. Although they employ the standard soft/loud dynamic common to most post-rock bands, Another Neighbor Disappeared prefers tightly structured songs and melodies over the genre’s typical expansive compositions.

Recent Developments: In 2023, the band underwent a lineup change, welcoming back their original drummer and subsequently releasing their third album. This new offering showcases a more robust and driven sound compared to their previous releases.
With the introduction of samples and keys, their songs now have a much larger and more dynamic sound.

Another Neighbor Disappeared are:
Darryl O’Beirne – Guitar
Peter Schauer – Bass
Mark Willey – Drums
Julian Smith – Guitar

Finnish industrial metallers TURMION KÄTILÖT have released their brand new song ‘Schlachter‘. It´s the band’s first track sung in German and features Chris Harms of LORD OF THE LOST.

MC Raaka Pee comments: “Schlachter” deals, as its name suggests, with themes related to slaughter, which refer both to concrete slaughtering but also metaphorical meanings, such as mental or societal tearing and destruction. The idea for making this track began from wanting to challenge my younger self by making a remix of our first single, “Teurastaja.” As per usual, things got positively out of hand, and the track became our first single made in German. Chris edited the text to reflect the mood of today’s world. The beat of the hammer can take you anywhere!”

FINISH TICKET Release New Track + Lyric Video ‘Float Away’ from Sophomore Album

Bay Area staple alt rock group FINISH TICKET shared their alluring new track “Float Away” yesterday,  June 28, across digital platforms. With a strong rhythmic pulse, trebly guitar lines, dreamy synths, and an irresistible melody, it’s featured on their much-anticipated sophomore album ECHO AFTERNOON (due September 6 via Better Noise Music).

“Float Away” was written by vocalist Brendan Hoye during a period of writer’s block he experienced during the COVID pandemic. “With life on pause around the world, it felt impossible to draw inspiration from anything,” shares Hoye. “oyHNothing was thrilling during lockdown, but everyone was searching for hobbies, watching tv shows, and making bread.  I thought about how these were fun distractions, but I never felt like I was escaping the mundaneness of my reality.  I thought harder about what had recently been providing me with that escape and decided I would write the most embarrassing song I’d ever written, but that it would never see the light of day.”

“Fast forward a few months and I showed the band the song thinking it would be a good laugh,” Hoye recalls. “Unfortunately, to my horror, they loved it and insisted it be on the record.  It’s a song that saved me as a writer, a song that makes me cringe when I remember that my grandma listens to my music, a song that feels right at home in our live show, and a song about giving.”

Stream “Float Away” now at https://finishticket.ffm.to/floataway.

Co-produced by FINISH TICKET, Jim Kaufman (Danny Worsnop, Helmet, Atlas Genius), and Michael Coleman (Chappel Roan, Sure Sure, Em Beihold), ECHO AFTERNOON’s 12 tracks show the band at their most vulnerable as they narrate the struggles and anxiety of being stuck in limbo while trying to find an escape to a brighter future. The album is an emotional roller coaster allowing listeners who’ve faced the uncertainty in their own lives to relate and to look forward to a brighter future. Pre-order ECHO AFTERNOON on cd, vinyl and/or digital LP now at https://finishticket.ffm.to/echoafternoon.

FINISH TICKET have toured alongside the likes of Twenty One Pilots, Ed Sheeran, Fall Out Boy, AWOLNATION, and The Beaches. They’ve also made key festival appearances including Bonnaroo, Life Is Beautiful, Outside Lands, and Lollapalooza.

Catch them on the road this summer with indie rockers Nico Vega across North America from July 22 to August 2. Tickets are available now HERE.

Dates as follows:
7/22 Detroit, MI – The Shelter
7/23 Toronto, ON – Velvet Underground
7/25 Philadelphia, PA – The Foundry
7/26 New York, NY – Racket
7/28 Boston, MA – Brighton Music Hall
7/30 Washington, DC – The Atlantis
8/1 Nashville, TN – The Basement East
8/2 Chicago, IL – Empty Bottle

ABOUT FINISH TICKET:

FINISH TICKET have taken fans, and themselves, on a rollercoaster ride throughout their career with a whirlwind of highs and lows. After creating a wave with sold-out shows across the Bay Area and their debut album Tears You Apart, they were picked up by Atlantic Records who released their EP When Night Becomes Day. They made their debut late-night TV performance on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” In 2019, FINISH TICKET self-released their hit track “Dream Song,” which garnered over 4.1 million streams and saw the band embark on a successful headlining tour, selling out multiple venues across the country. Then COVID hit in 2020 and put everything to a halt.

After spending the past three years writing and recording their second full-length album, Echo Afternoon, FINISH TICKET signed a record deal with Better Noise Music and released the record’s first track “Changing” in July 2023. This was supported by a U.S. run with The Beaches followed by a summer long tour which included a performance at Lollapalooza (alongside headlining acts Billie Eilish and Karol G) and Arizona’s Innings Fest.
