Album of the year contenders DÅÅTH have released an instrumental edition of their critically acclaimed The Deceivers full-length digitally today Friday, June 28th, on Metal Blade Records!

Monstrously heavy but beautifully orchestrated, blessed with melodies that will haunt anybody fortunate enough to hear it, The Deceivers is at once a devastating reminder and giant leap forward that showcases the technical wizardry and brutal intensity that the Atlanta, Georgia-bred band is capable of. The record includes a variety of guest guitar solos across numerous tracks by Jeff Loomis (Nevermore, Arch Enemy), Mark Holcomb (Periphery), Dean Lamb (Archspire), Per Nilsson, (Scar Symmetry, Meshuggah), Spiro Dussias (Platonist), and Dan Sugarman (Ice Nine Kills), with renowned video game composer Mick Gordon (Doom Eternal) contributing sound design and synth to “Purified By Vengeance.”

Stream DÅÅTH’s The Deceivers (Instrumentals) HERE

Blabbermouth lauded a “modern metal record aimed squarely at connoisseurs and tech freaks, but it also has some huge tunes and barrels of charisma.” MetalSucks concurred, “The Deceivers is destined to go down as a career highlight for DÅÅTH; a jewel in their crown if ever there was one. It really is that good.” Metal Injection hailed an “epic and rhythmic prog album…” Added Knotfest, “Each track is a labyrinth of complex rhythms and searing melodies, offering a rich auditory experience. The technical skill and compositional daring make it a standout in the metal community.“

Comments founding guitarist Eyal Levi on the instrumental edition of The Deceivers, “I’ve always wished that our fans could get a chance to hear all the little and not so little details that go into our songs. DÅÅTH’s music is like peeling back the layers of an onion – there’s a lot more going on than you might think. When vocals are added, the copious amount of guitar layers, orchestration, synth, sound design, and percussion might fade into the background, and that’s ok, because what really counts is how the song hits you. However, these songs are built as instrumental compositions first. Vocals don’t come into the picture until the songs can stand on their own instrumentally. We’re giving you the chance to hear the album in its pure instrumental form. It’s your opportunity to really dive into all those hidden layers and appreciate the depth of the music.”

[Artwork by Adrian Baxter]

Adds Jesse Zuretti (orchestration, synth, guitars), “Instrumental albums sometimes serve as a break from the vocals for fans. But in the context of The Deceivers, it’s really more about giving the orchestra and synths a chance to shine. Especially when the vocals are so commanding and powerful, it’s hard to hear the nuances behind them. The instrumental version of The Deceivers allows the listener to have a new experience when listening to the album they’d already listened to. And for those who haven’t heard the vocal version, it’s a chance to piece the music together in a unique way.”

Watch DÅÅTH‘s previously released videos for “Hex Unending” HERE, “Ascension” HERE, “Unwelcome Return” HERE, and “Deserving Of The Grave” HERE.

The Deceivers earned the #11 spot on Current Hard Music Albums chart upon its first week of release! Elsewhere, the record took the #14 position on the Top New Artists Albums chart, #39 on the Current Rock Albums chart, and more! See additional chart positions below.

DÅÅTH began their journey in 1999 and stayed busy for just over a decade before its 2011 hiatus. In that time, the band released four studio albums – Futility in 2004, The Hinderers in 2007, The Concealers in 2009, and their self-titled LP in 2010. Tours with Slayer, Nile, Cattle Decapitation, Dark Funeral, Cynic, Dragonforce, Goatwhore, Chimaira, Dying Fetus, and Devildriver followed. DÅÅTH also landed a coveted spot on Ozzfest playing before tens of thousands of fans in outdoor amphitheaters across the US, in addition to the infamous and long-running metal tour Summer Slaughter.

After twelve years on hiatus, DÅÅTH found their ideal new home at Metal Blade, signing to the label and wasting no time creating new music, cover songs (Death‘s “The Philosopher” and Morbid Angel‘s “Where the Slime Live“) and reissuing previous albums. The first new song from the revitalized DÅÅTH, “No Rest No End” (released ahead of the album in February 2023), features guest solos by Spiro Dussias and now-DÅÅTH member Trujillo, who impressed Levi so much while guesting on the track that he was invited to join the band.

DÅÅTH:
Eyal Levi – guitar
Sean Z – vocals
Krimh – drums
Jesse Zuretti – orchestration, synth, guitar
Rafael Trujillo – lead guitar
David Marvuglio – bass

Today, Finnish-Australian metallers THE ETERNAL release their long-awaited seventh studio album, “Skinwalker,” through Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). It’s way more than a new album though: marking some kind of fresh start of the group with a renewed line-up, the 9-track offering doesn’t only please long-time followers of the band but also appeals to many new listeners outside of their previous fan base by successfully exploring new sonic territories besides their comfort zone. “Skinwalker” can now be enjoyed in its full splendour, and to mark the occasion, the group have prepared a video for the track ‘Under The Black,’ which can also be found on the album.

Stream/purchase the track: https://theeternal.rpm.link/undertheblackPR

The track offers a compelling showcase of THE ETERNAL‘s progressive inclinations, blending dynamic shifts and emotive storytelling into a captivating sonic journey. With the introduction of guest Santeri Kallio‘s (AMORPHIS) Hammond organ, the track ignites into motion, driven by its pulsating energy. Guided by expressive guitar work and propelled by commanding drums and resounding bass lines, the listener is lead through a series of exhilarating peaks and valleys, where haunting vocals take centre stage. Dynamically, the track navigates the spectrum from fragile intimacy to bombastic progressive metal, showcasing THE ETERNAL‘s adeptness at crafting multifaceted compositions.

Order “Skinwalker” in your preferred physical format [CD-digipak or transparent/black marbled 2LP], stream it on your favourite digital service provider (DSP), or order it digitally now, here: https://theeternal.rpm.link/skinwalkerPR.

“Skinwalker” is a continuation of THE ETERNAL‘s rich musical legacy and yet is set to be a defining moment creatively for the band. The album features several notable guest appearances including Tomi Joutsen (AMORPHIS), Santeri Kallio (AMORPHIS), Sami Yli-Sirniö (KREATOR) and award-winning Tuvian throat singer Albert Kuvezin (YAT-KHA) to name a few. Recorded at guitarist/singer Mark Kelson‘s Lucidity Sound Studios and Jan Rechberger‘s Moon Unit Studios and produced by Kelson, Rechberger as well as guitarist Richie Poate, the record was mixed by Mark and Jan at Moon Unit before sending it off to Crystal Mastering in Melbourne, Australia. PENTAGRAM Reveal New Lineup for Upcoming New Album And Tours

Posted by metalshockfinland on June 27, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: PENTAGRAM. Leave a comment

The doom metal pioneers PENTAGRAM reveal a brand new lineup for their upcoming new album and tours. PENTAGRAM have recently signed to Heavy Psych Sounds for the reissue of their “Review Your Choices” and “Sub-Basement” albums as well as the long-awaited follow-up to their 2015 full-length “Curious Volume”.

A new chapter dawns on the mighty PENTAGRAM, and the modern lore unfolds with the arrival of an electrifying new lineup. Around legendary frontman and band founder Bobby Liebling comes the melodic power of guitarist Tony Reed — known for fronting Seattle rock stalwarts Mos Generator as well as producing and engineering some of the modern heavy scene’s cornerstone releases from Electric Wizard to Blues Pills — and the sheer grooves of bassist Scooter Haslip, also of Mos Generator and former Saltine. The new lineup is rounded out by scene heavyweight and internationally renowned drummer Henry Vasquez of Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan, The Skull/Legion Of Doom and Sourvein.

Recently signed to European powerhouse Heavy Psych Sounds Records, PENTAGRAM is currently entering the studio, poised to usher in a bold era with a new album and tours that will see the band traveling to distant ends of the globe.

The band’s return to the States will be elevated by a headline performance at Levitation 2024 on November 3rd in Austin, TX. The night’s stage will be honored by a live resurrection of hometown legends The Sword.

PENTAGRAM is set to reissue the “Review Your Choices” and “Sub-Basement” albums (originally released in 1999 and 2001 via Black Widow Records) in a fully remastered version engineered by Tony Reed, with preorders starting on July 2nd via www.heavypsychsounds.com.

About signing to Heavy Psych Sounds and reissuing “Review Your Choices” and “Sub-Basement”, PENTAGRAM frontman Bobby Liebling stated: “Pentagram was conceived 53 years ago! We’ve seen many ups and downs and if the decades have given us anything, its wisdom. We know our new studio album is the best one we’ve ever written. We also realize that we need the perfect partner who not only understands the music but also knows the importance of packaging and presentation. After a meticulous search for the right record label, we are proud to announce that Pentagram has signed with Heavy Psych Sounds! They are fans first, musicians themselves and believe in the music as much as we do! On the topic of our best albums, Heavy Psych Sounds will also reissue my favorite Pentagram album to date, “Sub-Basement” and its companion, “Review Your Choices”. These two sorely overlooked albums will finally get the packaging and distribution they deserve. Joe Hasselvander did an incredible job on the instrumentation of these albums and co-wrote some of our thickest and most demented material. No longer will these records be passed by and overlooked! They stand tall next to any album perceived as “heavy” back in 1999/2000.”

PENTAGRAM is considered one of the very pioneers of the doom metal genre alongside Black Sabbath and Witchfinder General. Formed in 1971 in Virginia by Bobby Liebling (vocals) and Geof O’Keefe (drums) with Vincent McAllister on guitar and Greg Mayne on bass, the band was prolific in the underground scene of the 1970s, producing many demos and rehearsal tapes, but did not release their self-titled full-length album until reforming in the early 1980s with a new lineup. With vocalist Bobby Liebling remaining the only original band member throughout the band’s 50-year career span, Pentagram has welcomed many well-respected musicians from the heavy and doom metal scene, with members spending time in other acts such as Raven, The Obsessed, Place of Skulls, Internal Void, Spirit Caravan.

BEAST IN BLACK Release New Song + Music Video ‘Power Of The Beast’

Posted by metalshockfinland on June 27, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Beast In Black. Leave a comment

BEAST IN BLACK is known for their dynamic blend of power metal, 80s pop, and electronic music. Their critically acclaimed albums Berserker, From Hell With Love, and Dark Connection have solidified their global presence, along with notable tours and festival appearances. Their energetic live performances and unique sound have made them a standout act in the modern metal scene.

Today, BEAST IN BLACK unleash a new tune, along with a magnificent video – ‘Power Of The Beast’!

This electrifying, uptempo anthem captures the essence of BEAST IN BLACK´s signature style, featuring powerful riffs, soaring vocals, and an unforgettable chorus that will have you singing along.

The video for ‘Power Of The Beast’ is directed by Katri Koppanen, who has previously directed BEAST IN BLACK’s stunning visuals for ‘Moonlight Rendezvous’, ‘One Night In Tokyo’ and ‘Hardcore’.

Listen to the song on all platforms: https://beastinblack.bfan.link/potbsg

Mastermind Anton Kabanen comments:
“’Power Of The Beast’ takes us one step further in showcasing our passion towards high energy music, unstoppable beats, solid melodies, (synth)riffs and a meaningful message. It’s dedicated to everyone who’s in need of encouragement, motivation, determination and inner strength to aspire onward. The message of the song is like the unyielding attitude and empowering resolution of Guts, the protagonist from the manga “Berserk”. That said, the lyrics are indeed a hybrid based off “Berserk” and my own lifeview and experiences.
With musical influences heavily permeated by the so called Super Eurobeat, which I have absorbed through the years, I think it’s fairly justified – but obviously with a tongue in cheek – to describe this song as Super Eurobeast! It’s the first of its kind but we promise you it’s definitely not gonna be the last!”

Music video director Katri Koppanen tells about her inspiration for the video:
“I began working on the music video script when only fragments of the lyrics were available, and Anton had just a few initial ideas about the song text. Even in the early stages, it was clear that the song’s message was going to be empowering and energetic, which resonated with me, especially given how dark, chaotic, and overwhelming the world has become in recent years. Quite often, I catch myself missing the innocence of movies from the 80s and 90s, where bad guys always got what they deserved. Inspired by that, I wanted to create something fun based on my favorite movies from that era—something that leaves you in a good mood at the end.”
