DOG EAT DOG to Re-Release Long Lost Studio Album “Walk With Me” on September 20th

DOG EAT DOG‘s album “Walk With Me”, released by Nuclear Blast in 2006, is an impressive testament to the band’s creative power and musical versatility. Although it was only available for a short time, it has left a lasting impression and is one of the hidden gems of rock music.

Dog Eat Dog, known for their innovative blend of rock, punk and funk, experienced a period of intense creativity in the early 2000s. After several successful albums and tours, the band decided to create an album that would reflect their musical development and experiences of the last few years. Work began on “Walk With Me” and the band members spent countless hours in the studio perfecting their musical ideas.

In 2003 they found a new management company, Vibra, and came into contact with Claus Grabke. They worked with him on songs such as “M.I.L.F.”, “Hell Yeah”, “Cannonball” and “Undivided” for their new album. Marta Jandová from Die Happy sings guest vocals on the latter.

The album was recorded with a lot of passion and dedication. Each song on “Walk With Me” tells its own story and reflects the band’s personal and collective experiences. The powerful rhythms, catchy melodies and profound lyrics show Dog Eat Dog at the peak of their creativity.

“Walk With Me” is packed with energetic tracks that perfectly showcase the band’s unique blend of rock, punk and funk. Songs like “Undivided” and “Walk With Me” are bursting with dynamics and showcase the band’s musical diversity. Particularly noteworthy are the powerful guitar riffs and the lead singer’s distinctive voice, which give each song a special touch.

The production of the album is first class, with a clear and dynamic sound that perfectly captures the energy and passion of the band. The careful mixing and well thought-out song structure make “Walk With Me” a pleasure to listen to, both at high volume and in quiet moments.

Despite the high quality of the album, “Walk With Me” was only available for a short time. This was due to internal problems at Nuclear Blast and unexpected legal complications, which meant that the album had to be withdrawn from the market after a short time. These unfortunate circumstances meant that many fans were unable to purchase the album, making it a coveted collector’s item.

“Walk With Me” is an outstanding album that captures the creative essence of Dog Eat Dog at their best. The combination of catchy melodies, powerful rhythms and a fascinating origin story makes it an essential part of any music collection. Now fans finally have the chance to buy this masterpiece again as a CD digipack and Ltd. edition orange vinyl – and it’s also available digitally for the first time.

The line-up of the band on “Walk With Me” was John Connor (vocals), Dave Neabore (bass, vocals, guitar), Brandon Finley (drums) and Sean Kilkenny (guitar, vocals). The album was recorded at Claus Grabke Studios, Gütersloh, Germany and produced by Claus Grabke and Dog Eat Dog.

Michael Sweet: “We’ve evolved, we’re not the Stryper of 86, this is Stryper 2024”

Posted by metalshockfinland on July 13, 2024

The Metal Voice recently spoke to Front man Michael Sweet of Stryper about the bands upcoming studio album ‘When we were kings’ which will be released on Sept 13, 2024 via Frontiers Records.

Excerpts for the chat
When asked about the new studio album
“We really listen to the fans. I like to post questions and get fan response and not only get it but actually give the fans what they want. Let’s face it, if it wasn’t for the fans no band would have a career. The fans make you who you are. It’s a balancing act trying to appease the fans and appease yourself. It’s really difficult. We want to please the fans and we want to please ourselves, so we want to feel good about the music and be happy too. We’ve evolved. We’re not the Stryper of 86 we never will be ever again and we’re not ashamed of that. We just won’t be that. We’re a new band. Now this is Stryper 2024 and hopefully everyone’s still on board and there’s new people coming on board now with the new sound. There’s little bits of modern music in there you can hear the little things here and there but not too much. We’re not a modern rock band we don’t want to be but we want to step into 2024 and not sound like 1986 again. “

When asking some people not liking his voice
“There are still the haters out there that don’t like my voice or who say my voice is demonic (laughs) and that’s ok. I understand I have a very interesting voice, it’s very unique. Love it or hate it, that’s fine. If you don’t like it I get it. If I was not in Stryper I might hate my voice too. It’s very operatic, it’s very over dramatic Not everyone loves Dio’s voice either. I have friends that can’t stand Dio’s voice because they thought he was over dramatic and I’m like to each his own. I have friends that can’t stand Rob Halford’s voice. They can’t listen to Priest because of his voice. I get it but I’m not here to please everybody I’m here to please the fans. I’m here to please myself and at the end of the day I’ve been successful and nobody can take that away from me.”

When asked if the new album is the best Stryper album of all time?
“Here’s the thing, I do. I absolutely do and I’ll tell you why I do because I really believe that it is. Here’s the deal, when I listen to this latest Stryper album I’ll go back and listen to older Stryper albums. I’ll listen to something from ‘Fallen’ and then from ‘Goddamn Evil’. I’ll listen to something from ‘Even the devil believes’ or ‘No more hell to pay’ and then I’ll listen to something from ‘Final battle’ and that all sounds really good and cool. But this (album) has a little extra special sauce on it. I’m not sure what it is but it may be just because it’s fresh and new I don’t know but I really think that we certainly haven’t gone backwards. We haven’t gone down a step or a level. I think we’re certainly right there with all those other albums but I think maybe even a little beyond those albums and time will tell if fans agree. The goal is for me and the band to make our best album. I don’t think we have yet. I think we’re getting better as we go. I think all these recent albums blow away the past. I know people get mad at me for saying that that’s okay because those people have memories that are tied to those albums and Nostalgia that’s tied to those albums but we blew away uh To hell with the devil and In God We Trust three or four times already.

When asked about his thoughts on how the state of Louisiana has become the first state to require that the Ten Commandments be displayed in every public school classroom Bill HB71
“I don’t really know a lot about that, it’s something I’ll have to research and read up on. I do know this, just about everything else is allowed in schools right now. Children basically pledging allegiance to a rainbow flag you know, that’s okay, that’s perfectly acceptable. I mean so why can’t the Ten Commandments be in there? Why can’t the Bible be in there you know?  That’s where I have a problem. If we’re going on to allow everything else, then you have to allow everything else, or not.”

Polish guitarist & producer Jakub Zytecki is pleased to announce he has signed a worldwide deal with InsideOutMusic. A forward-thinking player, Jakub has been described as an ‘ambient shredder’ by Guitar World, and was recently seen touring Europe, USA, Japan & Australia alongside Plini.

Jakub comments of the signing: “It fills me with joy to enter the next chapter of my career with the great InsideOutMusic on my side! I’m grateful for your support and there will be plenty of new music for you from me. I cannot wait to experience what the future holds while fully embracing all the emotional facets this journey brings.

InsideOutMusic label-head Thomas Waber adds: “Jakub belongs to a new generation of extremely talented guitar players, that can also write great songs. We are excited and proud to be building a career and future together!”

To coincide with the announcement, a brand new single titled ‘Bound By Better’ has been launched, featuring guest appearances from Piotr Gibner of Múlk on vocals, as well as sax player Jared Yee from Sungazer.

Stream the track at https://jakubzytecki.lnk.to/BoundByBetter-Single

Of the track, Zytecki says: “I started the initial demo of the song in April, so the whole thing came out rather quickly. I really liked the vibe of the demo – it felt like a hug that perhaps is a little bit too strong and slightly too aggressive. An angry joy kind of thing.

Lyrically it’s probably about a middle finger towards the whole need of a constant self-improvement. A fuck off to the whole self-help industry that is shouting and screaming at every corner. Yet, it is probably about surrendering to that as well. It’s full of contradictions and I like it this way.”

Jakub will head out on a European headline tour later this year, including an appearance at Euroblast Festival in Germany. Find the full list of dates below:

InsideOutMusic recently announced the signing of US-based rising instrumental progressive metallers Sometime In February to a worldwide deal. Today the band are pleased to announce their new single, ‘The Bad Fight’, is out to stream everywhere now, and for this one they received the help of a few friends. As the band explains:

“The song came together quickly, and as soon as it was written we knew we had to pull out all the stops for it. We asked our friend Paul Waggoner of Between the Buried and Me to feature on it with a guest solo that is pitch perfect. Eric Guenther of The Contortionist contributed keys, synths, and sound design to take it to the next level. Dan Briggs, also of BTBAM, sprinkled additional sound design on top. And of course, we love to feature saxophone when we can, so our friend Rich Castillo of The Callous Daoboys added his touch to create a tasteful layer.”

The video for the track was shot by Luke Gura inside a courthouse near the bands hometown. Watch it here:

July 14th – Mag Bar, Louisville, KY
July 16th – Amityville Music Hall, Long Island, NY

Originally founded as an instrumental solo project for guitarist Tristan Auman in 2020, Sometime in February became a fully rounded prog rock trio with the addition of drummer Scott Barber and bassist Morgan Johnson after making the jump from studio to stage following the release of their EP ‘Here Goes’ in 2021.

The Carolina-based group has kept their foot on the gas ever since, touring throughout the Southeast US and releasing their follow-up, the debut LP ‘There Goes’, in 2023. Their first full-length record gained attention from prog fans and peers alike, with Tristan receiving an invitation to join Between the Buried and Me in a live capacity throughout the Parallax II: Future Sequence Tour.

The band comments: “We are thrilled to be signing to the world’s premier label for progressive music, InsideOutMusic. Sometime in February wouldn’t exist without many of the artists on their roster, and it’s an honor to stand beside them. Thomas Waber has been supportive and encouraging to us for some time now, and we’re excited that we found the right moment to work together and make InsideOutMusic the home for the next era of Sometime in February.”

InsideOutMusic label-head Thomas Waber adds: “We are extremely excited to be working alongside this talented young US band. After talking to them for a while, it felt like now was the right time to welcome them to the fold, and on the evidence of the new track ‘Hiding Place’, bright things are ahead!”

AVATARIUM Reveal Details of Forthcoming Studio Album “Between You, God, The Devil and The Dead”, Unleash First Video Single ‘Long Black Waves’

Swedish doom and hard rock collective, Avatarium, has finally revealed the first details about their forthcoming studio album, entitled “Between You, God, the Devil and The Dead”! Slated for release on January 24, 2025 via AFM Records, the band’s sixth full-length offering will be available as ltd. LP Vinyl (Black, Orange/White, Silver), 2-CD Ear Book, CD Jewelcase and Digital formats. The physical album pre-sale has just started at: https://shop.afm-records.de/avatarium

A first single, the album opening track “Long Black Waves” – combining gloomy hard rock with heavy doom metal accents – is now premiering below! Avatarium guitarist Marcus Jidell states:

“The first song is a heavy, doomy dark gospel named “Long Black Waves”. It’s a homage to bands like Led Zeppelin, Mountain and Black Sabbath. And as always we try to find our own twist on things to get the good ol’ Avatarium vibe going. Enjoy!”

“Long Black Waves” is now streaming on all digital providers at https://avatarium.bfan.link/long-black-waves

More than ten years ago with founding Avatarium, Candlemass icon Leif Edling made the doom metal world a darker and ultimately more interesting place. Over the next years, they released two EPs, four critically acclaimed full-length records, and a live DVD, ‘An Evening With Avatarium – Live in Stockholm’. Edling eventually left Avatarium‘s ranks due to health issues, but the band forged onward, and 2022 found them capping off a prolific decade with their latest album and AFM Records debut, ‘Death, Where Is Your Sting’.

Following the much-acclaimed record release, lauded by fans and music press worldwide and numerous live appearances at prestigious festivals or on tour with acts such as Swallow The Sun, early 2025 will see the Swedish doom maestros even double down on all expections! Their forthcoming studio offering, “Between You, God, The Devil and The Dead”, featuring eight new enthralling tracks, showcases the band’s exceptional songwriting skills and qualities. Avatarium have evolved since their 2013 self-titled debut, and although they have always introduced new elements along the way, with their epic fusion of a doom-ladden occult sound and dark, heavy yet melancholic, poetic facets, the Swedish collective fronted by extraordinary vocalist Jennie-Ann Smith proves, why they belong to one of the most unique acts the modern heavy music scene has to offer!

“18 months ago we decided to make another album and now it’s (finally) written, recorded and mixed!“ Jidell says. “At one point I thought we would never be able to finish it but here we are now! This album has the doom, the old school heavy metal riffs, the acoustic numbers and the classic dark gospel of Avatarium. I am very proud of what we have achieved and if this is our last album, we’ll definitely end with a bang!”

“Between You, God, The Devil and The Dead” was produced and mixed by Marcus Jidell, with a mastering by Svante Forsbäck (Candlemass, Amorphis and many more). The album artwork was created by Erik Rovanpera.

“Between You, God, The Devil and The Dead” Tracklist:

  1. Long Black Waves
  2. I See You Better In The Dark
  3. My Hair Is On Fire (But I’ll Take Your Hand)
  4. Lovers Give A Kingdom To Each Other
  5. Being With The Dead
  6. Until Forever And Again
  7. Notes From Underground
  8. Between You, God, The Devil and The Dead

AVATARIUM is:
Jennie-Ann Smith (Vocals)
Marcus Jidell (Guitars)
Andreas Habo Johansson (Drums & Percussion)
Mats Rydström (Bass)
