CACTUS have released a new single “Parchman Farm” featuring special guests Joe Bonamassa & Billy Sheehan. The single comes from the upcoming album Temple of Blues – Influences & Friends releasing on June 7th as a CD and also as double vinyl album via Cleopatra Records. The new album merges the members of Cactus with a super ensemble of featured artists, all of whom have called the group among their biggest influences. Once heralded by critics as America’s answer to Led Zeppelin, Cactus recorded four hard rockin’ albums for Atco Records before Appice and bassist Tim Bogert left to form their own supergroup: Beck, Bogert & Appice.

Vocalist Dee Snider of Twisted Sister appears on the band’s remake of the Howlin’ Wolf classic “Evil,” and Appice’s bandmate in Vanilla Fudge Mark Stein turns in a powerful vocal on Little Richard’s “Long Tall Sally.” A second version of “Guiltless Glider,” appears as a bonus track with former Judas Priest vocalist, Ripper Owens. In addition to Appice on drums on all tracks, original Cactus guitarist Jim McCarty also appears on Temple Of Blues. Current band members vocalist/guitarist and harmonica player Jim Stapley and bassist Jim Caputo also appear on many of the tracks. Appice announced today a new member to the band’s line-up: guitarist Artie Dillon will handle guitar duties for live tours and plays on one track for the new album. About Cactus
The current line-up of Cactus came together in 2021. Lead vocalist Jim Stapley comes from England and had worked with ex-Faces/Who drummer Kenny Jones in the Jones Gang and Humble Pie. “Nearly five decades after I formed this band, the time had come to re-invent Cactus once again,” says Appice, who also still drums for Vanilla Fudge, The Appice Brothers Drum Wars, and a hybrid tribute to former band leader, Rod Stewart. Adds Appice: “The music remains the same and Cactus is still a ‘hot and sweaty’ band. The level, quality and consistence of the band’s musicianship is as strong as ever.” Cactus has had a long and turbulent history. Formed in 1970 from the ashes of Vanilla Fudge by Carmine Appice and Tim Bogert, the initial line up also featured McCarty (from Mitch Ryder and The Buddy Miles Express) and Amboy Dukes vocalist Rusty Day. While Cactus saw success from the start and soon built a loyal fan base, by early 1973 the band had collapsed mainly due to lack of real support from its label and the fact that Jeff Beck was now ready play with Carmine and Tim in BBA.
The band reformed in 2006, three decades after the tragic death of Rusty Day with Randy Pratt on harp (who also appears on this album) and Jimmy Kunes vocals. When the late Tim Bogert was forced into retirement due to complications after a serious motorcycle accident, Pete Bremy joined on bass before Caputo replaced him in 2020. Now, with a powerful new line-up Cactus and an album the marries the band with some of the biggest names in rock and blues, embarks on a new and exciting musical journey to the Temple Of Blues.
Get ready to experience the raw power thrash metal, infused with cultural influences in the debut EP from Saudi Arabia’s DUNE. “Years Of Chains” clocks in at a succinct 18 minutes, with four tracks, each full of tasty riffs, engaging vocals, and a variety of metal elements that keep listeners engaged and offer something new every playthrough. The EP is a testament to the band’s relentless pursuit of heavy music with an aggressive feel and heavy melodies. DUNE shares their excitement for the release:
“Years of Chains” is an EP that we wrote years ago but didn’t get a chance to properly record due to multiple difficulties coming our way, after years we have chosen a list of the songs from the originals we have for the EP. The recording process was fun yet we looked for perfection to make the songs as we imagined them with the best quality that we could make.”
Known for their unique fusion of thrash metal with djent, nu metal, oriental, and groove metal influences, DUNE‘s sound is a sonic journey that defies traditional genre boundaries. The EP artwork represents the struggles that we all have, having parts of the lyrics from each song pouring into the skull head and then pouring from the eyes and mouth, a representation of struggles and spiral into madness and to a dark place.
“Years Of Chains” explores themes around culture, urban legends, and personal issues, providing listeners with a unique perspective on heavy music. DUNE‘s commitment to delivering an intense and fun experience with raging tones is evident in every track on the EP and is suitable for those who enjoy Testament, Slayer, Pantera, and Metallica.
VICOLO INFERNO, one of the latest signings for Rockshots Records roster is proud torelease their third studio album “Circles” today. Instinctive, energetic, melodic, dark, and intense, “Circles” is the quartet’s most mature and experimental recording to date.
“Circles” like its predecessor dances among various colors of the soul, from the most intimate and convoluted to the angry, to the amused and ironic. The track listing was chosen to guide the listener through a journey. The writing process for this record has been consolidated for years, although somewhat against the current.
“We are “romantic supporters” of songwriting in the rehearsal room. We always start from a vocal line or a guitar riff, and if there is inspiration, the first version is laid down, which is then refined and shaped over time like a piece of wood by a sculptor.” says the band. “It is said that the third album is canonically the one of awareness; it is certainly the one in which we put more care into arranging the songs, where we experimented with some stylistic figures never used by us before, both in music and in singing. For once, we would like to venture to say that we think it is our best album (although it is always difficult to say which child you love most) for ideas and execution, but as always, the hope is to reach the audience, which will be the judge in deciding whether our feelings hit the mark or not.”
The band describes this new single “Suspended” as a social critique stating that “The attention span of society for any content or experience is just a few seconds but our stories are too complex to be summarized in a few words.”
