DISTORTED FORCE have released the new lyric video ‘Clouds’ taken from the band’s “Angelic Bloodshed” album!
Distorted Force is a band with a very weird approach to composition. Being in the substance of progressive metal implies long length tracks, unstable structure, and a lot of changes in a song’s general atmosphere. In recent years the band moves musically in the heavy/progressive area. They started in Thessaloniki, Greece in 2008. In the beginning of 2010 Distorted Force started their discography with a homonymous EP. A year later they released “A Dead Man’s Dream” showing obvious influences from Porcupine Tree and Anathema. The line-up changed and “Depersonalization” was out in 2012 with much heavier sound, that keeps up to date. In January 2013, “Fields in Desolation” was released, characterized by progressive metal elements which were about to increase over the next years. In December of 2014, the album “Taken by Force” paved the same progressive metal course that was carved in their previous albums. The next full-length album “Curves of Sidereal Cosmos” was the band’s first concept album and was released in May 2018, followed by flattering reviews from the music press all over the world. Distorted Force have been performing live shows all over Greece and Europe since 2008. On June 10th, 2023, the band released their seventh album “Angelic Bloodshed” via French Soman Records. This is considered to be the heaviest so far.
October Noir collaborated with American gothic rock singer Myke Hideous (frontman of the gothic rock band The Empire Hideous, and previous member of the Misfits), alongside mixing engineer Kfir Gov, and mastering engineer Maor Appelbaum to create their new single “The Ages,” a brooding, dark, and gothic song that transcends traditional rock and metal to create an entirely new sound. Tom and Myke had been planning on creating music together since their side project “Momento Morti” several years back, and finally found their iconic sound together with this single.
The music video footage for “The Ages” was taken at the Dark Force Festival in New Jersey this year. It is a collection of footage from the crowd’s cell phones. It is the first time Myke Hideous has taken the stage since 2019.
With the help of mastering engineer Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Yes, Meatloaf, Sepultura, Sabaton, Eric Gales, Starset), whom October Noir had met through working on our third album “Fate, Wine, and Wisteria”, the song was taken to a whole new level. Maor eventually introduced the team to mixing engineer Kfir Gov, owner of Evil Snail Studios and lead singer of Seek Irony, who helped the team tune into their rock and metal influences to achieve the sound they desired.
The group teamed up to create a sultry gothic, slow-burning romantic anthem, filled with feelings of yearning and what could have been. Lyrics like “Within this box remains a key, to unlock my distant memories. For just one moment I held your hand, and the ages passed between us,” showcase the talented writing from Myke Hideous, while slow, brooding guitar exemplifies the classic goth/doom-rock influence of October Noir. The music video showcases a live performance from October Noir, and slow-motion head-banging and guitar strumming entrances the crowd and the listener.
“Tom and I talked on the phone and discussed our joint musical influences, and as someone who grew up on the likes of “Type O Negative” and “Paradise Lost”, I immediately connected with his vision and fell in love with “The Ages” and October Noir’s musical style. It was my pleasure working in close touch with Tom and Maor while paying close attention and responding to the band’s and Myke’s feedback, as we collectively brought their artistic and sonic vision to life in this song.” -Kfir Gov, mixing engineer for “The Ages” and owner of Evil Snail Studios
“As the creator of the lyrical content for the song “The Ages,” I find it to be a passionate love story like no other. I’ve written many of broken heart songs before with my bands, The Empire Hideous & SpySociety99, but this song was kind of different. It will have different meanings for other people than it does for me. But that’s just the way I’ve always written song lyrics. I allow the listener to define the song’s lyrics into their own personal meaning” -Myke Hideous, writer of “The Ages”
“I was approached by the band to work with them on mastering this song. I heard it and dug into it so much that I wanted to help them out by recommending a mix engineer who can really take it to the next level. So I recommended Kfir from Evil Snail Studios to mix the track. Kfir did a great job that I was very happy with, and I just sprinkled sugar on it by doing the Mastering.” -Maor Appelbaum, mixing engineer for “The Ages”
“The inspiration, for me, was everything happening sonically and lyrically. There is just something about it and I didn’t want it to go to waste. My interpretation of it was from the main wording “and the ages pass between us”. It just hits home and is very heavy. Like sitting in the clouds of lament and watching life escape you. You try to grip for control, but you find that nature, ultimately, controls all things; human or otherwise. Fate has a funny way of removing the things that you find are the most important.” -Tom Noir, founder, bassist, and lead vocalist of October Noir

Mammal have never been ones to shy away from tenacious themes throughout their career. Breeding music with a heartbeat that blisters and awes, the same tireless spirit that has accompanied Mammal’s journey over the years burns brightly on their upcoming second album ‘The Penny Drop’. Pulsing with pure rock’n’roll at its core, The Penny Drop calls out the wrongs of the world around us while emphatically flexing the group’s revitalised sonic direction and eclectic sonic influences.
From stomping fuzz on its opening track ‘Moscow’, through to sensual swagger on ‘Slings and Arrows’, polished melodics and salient alternative rock on ‘Doubt’, irreverent nu metal-laced rage on ‘Live Bold And Dangerous’ and toe-tappin’ funk/rock fusion on closing track ‘Five Days’, ‘The Penny Drop’ wields a vast palette while also consistently holding up starkly accurate thematic mirrors. “The main themes on the album are politics,” shares Ox, “setting up guillotines, smashing the fash, punching up, our inability to tolerate fools. Musically, fresh, mature, sexy bare bones rock and fucking roll. This album is not for the kids. It’s frown up fun. Pete [Williamson] wrote 100 riffs in 30 days, Zane [Rosanoski] turned them into songs with his V-drums and laptop in another month, then I came down from Newcastle and free-styled for 24 hours over two wild days in Melbourne. After that Jimi Maroudas came on board to produce and hone the 17 best tracks, which became the 12 on the album. After plenty of arguments, compromises and massaging by Forrester [Savell] later, we decided we were done.”
Since forming and releasing their debut self-titled EP in 2006, Mammal have toured relentlessly while also crafting a formidable reputation for their animated live performances, timeless sonic creations and authentic, working-class political activism that has garnered the quartet an ever-growing cult-like status across the globe. Revered as a “must see” rock’n’roll juggernaut, Mammal’s back catalogue includes their striking singles Smash The Pinata, The Majority, Hell Yeah and Think, with their touring history also spanning headline shows in London, Perth, Auckland, Brisbane and everywhere in between, as well as supports with some of the heavy scene’s towering giants, including Kiss, Avenged Sevenfold, Sebastian Bach, Cog, Grinspoon, Spiderbait and Shihad to name a mere few.
A band who also walk the walk alongside their musical calls-to-action, Mammal have also previously volunteered their live services, raising much-needed funds for various charities, supporting Interchange, the Refugee Action Collective and Fitzroy Legal Service over the years.
A band who says what they want, how they want to, as loudly and proudly as possible, ‘The Penny Drop’ is set to be a natural continuation of the ever dynamic and growing Mammal legacy “We feel ready and raring to go,” says Ox. “We say what we want, how we want and play loud and proud. We believe that at its best, rock and roll is a form of rebellion. Punters know when they come to the show that we give shit, about the music, about them. About their schools and unis, their hospitals and parks, their housing situation. Their favourite bands. We always punch up, and we aren’t pulling the ladder up behind us.”

JINJER, Ukraine’s most dynamic musical force, has just unleashed a new live video for their gripping anti-war anthem, “Home Back”. The live version of the song is cut from their highly anticipated first official live DVD/BluRay, Live in Los Angeles, set to be released this Friday, May 17 via Napalm Records. Originally the track appeared on JINJER’s 2019 studio album, Macro. This meaningful song holds profound significance and perfectly embraces the sense of the new live album. In fact, filmed on December 22, 2022 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA, USA, Live in Los Angeles not only honors their endurance through recent challenges, but also celebrates their triumphant 15-year journey.
During these years, JINJER attained remarkable milestones, touring globally and captivating millions at prestigious festivals like Hellfest, Rock am Ring, Graspop Metal Meeting, Download Festival and Rocklahoma USA. Moreover, their latest triumph, the acclaimed studio album Wallflowers, broke charts worldwide, soaring to #1 on both the US Billboard Top New Artist Album charts and Canadian Hard Music album charts, #2 on the US Hard Music album charts, #5 on the official UK Rock & Metal album charts and #7 on the official German album charts.
JINJER on “Home Back”: “Since it‘s original release back in 2019, ‘Home Back’ has become another anthem for JINJER and our followers. From its upbeat musical groove to its lyrics charged with pacifism and unfortunate predictions about the state of the world we find ourselves in today, we felt like this was no brainer to release as the third single for the Live In Los Angeles DVD!”
Live in Los Angeles was a spontaneous decision by the band, recorded as raw as possible, to emphasize the passion that can come from a live show. This release is an explosive mixture of JINJER’s discography – featuring fan favorites like “Sit Stay Roll Over”, “Call Me A Symbol” and the game changing “Pisces”. The live album contains 16 songs in various audio formats, with some strictly limited: the Deluxe Digipack features not only a DVD, but also two more songs, “Wallflower” & “Disclosure!”, recorded in Paris in 2023.
With feisty growls and soul-shattering clean vocals, the live energy of frontwoman Tatiana Shmayluk presented on Live in Los Angeles leaves the listener breathless, whilst lethally groovy riffs and multifarious drums culminate to a technical masterpiece, cutting sharp like a razorblade. Live in Los Angeles is JINJER at the top of their game – breaking every rule in heavy metal by doing things their very own way, and preparing fans for the next step of their world domination!
JINJER on Live in Los Angeles: “Our sold-out Los Angeles show at the end of our 2022 tour was the perfect time and place to do something special – something like a long-awaited DVD/live album by JINJER! The totally packed, legendary venue, the crazy west coast vibes, and most importantly, the band delivering it with full force after being on tour for 6 months around the globe – from Europe to Australia and back to the USA – made this an extra special night. For the fans who joined us that night at The Wiltern, it was an unforgettable concert, but now every single JINJER supporter around the world can experience and enjoy an ideal set featuring our biggest hits from older albums as well as recent bangers. This is not just a DVD or a live album, but a celebration of the first 15 years of the JINJER story, right before we move on to the next chapter…”

Before taking the stage at Tuska Metal Festival 2024 on Saturday, SulfuriS is offering a taste of their upcoming debut album. Shatterpoint, out May 16th, is a bombastic track full of high-octane beats, merciless shredding, and blood curdling screams. It warns against repeating a painful chapter in history from almost a century ago.
“Shatterpoint is about the violent rise of fascism and the loss of a shared sense of reality. It details aspects of the far-right’s playbook. And where those games may lead. Shatterpoint is a stage from whence it will be difficult, or impossible, to return. When all that we’ve built together lies on the floor in broken shards. Lest we take too hard a particular political stance, the song at least is of the controversial opinion, that perhaps humans come in a variety of forms. And that maybe all those different people have a right to exist in society”. – says lyricist and SulfuriS vocalist Vincent Lilium.
Later this summer, yet still before the band’s performance at Tuska Metal Festival, they’ll release one more single. Then finally, a full-length debut album, CORPUS//ANIMUS out on August 2nd via Inverse Records. The record is themed around exploring the material and spiritual worlds, through the framework of alchemy. It promises to be brutal, technical, filled with catchy hooks, grandiose as well as soothing moments.

Moshpit Nation is hosting an exclusive premiere of “Infected Seed”, the new single from Italian death metal trio MIASMIC SERUM. The song is the title track and latest preview of the band’s massive debut album, out on June 14th 2024 on their new label homes of Night Terrors Records (tape) and Chaos Records (CD format).
The first single “Mortal Training”, featuring Jason Netherton of MISERY INDEX, is also streaming HERE.
MIASMIC SERUM is an old-school death metal power trio born in late 2022, between Venice and Treviso, Italy. The band’s style takes inspiration from early 90’s American death metal, leading to a viperous sound that is conceptually related to poisoning, intoxication on the whole, toxic plants, animal venoms, and even personal previous psycho-nautical experiences. In fact, ‘Miasmic Serum’ stands for an unhealthy exhalation of a serum, which can be identified in the animal and plant kingdoms. Two entwined snakes in the band logo depict the Caduceus symbol, which represents a lethal dose, and the therapeutic one.
All lyrics in “Infected Seed” take inspiration from various realms and cultures, including personal experiences in the world of psychonautics, revisited with Aldous Huxley and Terence Mckenna’s literary works, between dystopian fiction and psychedelic culture, which is also based on the main use of sacred plants. Furthermore, other major analyzed themes are the Eleusinian mysteries of Ancient Greece and the shamanic traditions of the peoples of South America.
MIASMIC SERUM‘s musical style is poised and pure: guttural but clearly enunciated vocals, catchy blastbeat sections, multiple tempo changes without losing sight of classic songwriting, vicious atmospheres and speed-shredding riffs and solos that harken to the earliest days of the genre.
The single “Mortal Training”, features guest vocals from Jason Netherton of MISERY INDEX, while the title track “Infected Seed” features guest vocals from Fiore Stravino of FULCI.
The album artwork and illustration are designed by the Colombian artist Julian Mora Ibañez.
