Dive into the depths of darkness with A FLOURISHING SCOURGE as they unveil their latest sonic masterpiece, the lyric video for “WOE.”
“WOE” is a powerful introduction to their forthcoming EP, “The Sickened Seed”, scheduled to be released via Wormholedeath.
This crushing track delves into the abyss of existential dread, exploring the decay of society and the agonizing search for purpose in a world choked by disillusionment. A Flourishing Scourge paints a stark portrait of the human condition, reminding us of our inevitable demise while hinting at a yearning for transcendence amidst the existential maelstrom.
A Flourishing Scourge was formed in 2013 by long-time friends Tye Jones and Josh Keifer as a creative outlet for their shared musical interests. Originally created as a studio project, it quickly gained interest and traction in the Seattle area. By 2015, Andrew Dennis and Kevin Carbrey had filled out the line-up and the band self-released their first EP, As Beauty Fades Away. By the end of 2017, they had firmly established themselves in the northwest metal scene and released their self-titled full-length debut.
After several years of performing in the Seattle area and throughout the West Coast, the band decided to focus on a follow-up album that would truly showcase their writing and musical abilities. The culmination of this effort has resulted in their third studio release, Sickened Seed. Mixed and mastered at Fascination Street Studios, it is the band’s most ambitious work to date.

Skull Riot has released their second single, “Same Old” today May 9th an exhilarating song about paranoia, regret, and what could’ve been. “Skull Riot is a bone-crushing noisy band fronted by J. Ferron on bass and vocals. The band is a power-duo (bass and drums), high energy, heavy and fast, riff-driven, hard rock band that will make you headbang and scream yourself back to life!
“I am excited to say that our music video for “SAME OLD” is out! I had the pleasure to work with @bigazull as the cinematographer and editor, such a talented young man. We had the honor to have @coledahill acting again in this one (he’s the skeleton in our BLOOD AND CROWS video). And @sam_epstein91 making his camera debut as an Oscar-winning actor. Thank you all. We had so much fun. Hope you all like it. -J. Ferron, lead vocals and bassist for Skull Riot
Check out the recent release: Music video for “Blood and Crows” released on April 12th
Described as electrifying hard rock, fans are often astonished to find that Skull Riot is only comprised of two members, J. Ferron who is the frontman, writer, bassist, mixer, and lead singer for the duo, and Sam Epstein on drums. With additional mixing and recording from collaborators Roberto de la Peña and 11 times Grammy nominee, Mauricio Garza, Skull Riot is a minimalist operation that functions at the highest level. Following in the footsteps of the very few bands that play two instruments live (The White Stripes, Death From Above 1979, and Royal Blood), Skull Riot takes a non-traditional approach to making heavy music.
Lyrics like “Put on your fake, fake, fake smile, like you did all those years…I never thought your pain would feel so nice. Feels so wrong, same old song, on and on, all night long…” take us through the journey of a lost soul and showcase Ferron’s intelligent songwriting skills. Coupled with slamming drums and powerful bass guitar riffs, Skull Riot showcases talented musicianship with only two main instruments at the forefront.
With influences ranging from Royal Blood, Queens of The Stone Age, Priestess, Megadeth, Pantera, Mastodon, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Velvet Revolver, to Nirvana and The Sword, Skull Riot combines heavy metal with grunge rock to bring a new style to heavy metal and rock music that excites fans across the nation.
Hard Rock Duo with Punk Rock Angst, Skull Riot Plans to Release Five More Singles and an EP by The End of Summer.
“Same Old” will be followed by a video release on May 9th, a new single “Chasing Lights” on May 24 and a video release on June 3th, and an EP release with three singles and one more new song, “Running Away”, this July.
Originally from Mexico City, J. Ferron continued his career in music by pursuing a Masters degree in Film Scoring at Cornel School of Contemporary Music in Los Angeles in 2014. Taught by mentors such as Norman Ludwin (arranger for Michael Giacchino (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Jurassic World), Abraham Laboriel, Mauricio Guerrero, Tony Neiman, and Mauricio ‘Otto’ De Togni, J. Ferron developed a unique talent and voice for music that made him the artist he is today.
Since his move, J. Ferron has consistently sought out opportunities for collaboration with other artists and has played live and in the studio with up-and-coming artists such as Register Offender, Dans Eco Dance, Santoros, Strip Metal, Halibut, James Rensink , Rainee Lu, among many others. He is also currently working for the 11-time Grammy nominee producer, Mauricio Garza, at The Room Studios in Los Angeles as a recording and mixing engineer as well as producer and freelance film composer.
Working with talented names in the industry such as Dharius, Tiro Loko, Jonathan “Sugarfoot” Moffett, Mrs. Banks, Sueco, KRS ONE, among many others, J. Ferron continues to build over 550 credits (and counting). As a recording, mixing and mastering engineer.
During COVID, J. Ferron decided to create a band project that he could lead from bass and would feature only two members, and thus, Skull Riot was born. Ferron’s unique approach to singing and screaming, along with his unique songwriting and instrumentation, keeps audiences engaged and provides a fresh take to traditional rock music. Following the steps of Lemmy, Mike Kerr, and Jack White, J. Ferron attempts to establish heavy music with this unique concept and band formation bringing to the attention to the power of the bass guitar.
St Louis, Missouri fantasy-driven technical death metal band SUMMONING THE LICH has announced their sophomore album, Under The Reviled Throne, which is to be released via Prosthetic Records on July 26. Alongside the album announcement, the band has shared the lead single and accompanying music video, My Horrors Unending. SUMMONING THE LICH head out on tour in support of Vale of Pnath and Abigail Williams this month in the United States, with full dates and details below.
Speaking on the album announcement, David Bruno (vocals) comments: “We are beyond excited to finally announce our next album with Prosthetic Records, Under The Reviled Throne. After conquering his enemies in the Kingdom of Rodor the Lich has succumb to his own madness and now targets dominion over all of the planet Arrias. This album tells of his horrific conquest of the continent as he makes his way to the eastern kingdom of Bastell intent on humanity’s destruction, the gathering of those who will stand against his wrath, and visions of the past events that have led us to these darkened days.
“This album thematically is definitely darker in tone than United In Chaos and we worked really hard to match the Lich’s ferocity and malevolence sonically whilst still trying to write catchy fun death metal. We returned to our producer wizard Jack Daniels at The Armory Recording Co who helped guide us and was instrumental in crafting this beast along with editing and programming assistance from Elisha Mullins. Then of course the master wizard John Douglass crushed it as well and made this thing really come to life”
Of My Horrors Unending, Bruno continues: “My Horrors Unending is one of my personal favorite songs we’ve written. It’s heavy as hell while keeping the energy high as the Kingdom of Bastell learns of the Lich’s imminent approach with his massive army of Sin, Witches, and corrupted humankind; all told by a messenger from their front line of defense. It’s also really the tipping point right before a major shift in the album and offers a solid representation of the tone of the album as a whole.”
Under The Reviled Throne tracklist: 1. Return to the Soil 2. Reviled Crystal Wielders 3. The Forest Feasts 4. My Horrors Unending 5. Bastell Dirge 6. The Carrion Fleet 7. Arrias Groans 8. Will to Survive 9. Potion Seller 10. The Void Gate 11. Praise to the Bog
After three years of extensive US touring and shows with the likes of Allageon, Gorod and Inferi among others, as well as headline stints, SUMMONING THE LICH set about bringing Under the Reviled Throne to life. Intended as a death metal equivalent to The Empire Strikes Back in scope, the group set their sights on raising the stakes in both story and songwriting.
SUMMONING THE LICH took the considered approach of eschewing superfluous technicality in favor of a leaner and more streamlined focus on song structure. Each of the tracks on Under the Reviled Throne were written with the purpose of guiding the listener through the eponymous Lich’s descent into misanthropy and tyranny, without sacrificing their idiosyncratic sound.
This balancing act of dexterity and structure is exemplified best on cuts like Return to the Soil and lead single, My Horrors Unending. The latter of which succinctly merges SUMMONING THE LICH’s inclination for extremity and stop and start dynamics with rhythmic pummelling and memorable hooks.
With Arrias under existential threat, Under the Reviled Throne is a dazzlingly ambitious tale of hope and resistance in the form of its protagonist Taane (introduced on previously released album track, The Forest Feasts). Elsewhere, The Carrion Fleet’s narrative of the city of Bastell succumbing to flames at the hands of the Lich’s army ushers in the ominously brooding
Upping the stakes to dizzying heights, SUMMONING THE LICH offers plenty in the way of light among the shadowy figures that lurk within the Lich’s universe of malevolent chaos. All is not lost.
SUMMONING THE LICH tour dates: w/ Vale of Pnath and Abigail Williams 17 May – The Black Sheep – Colorado Springs, CO 18 May – The Marquis Theater – Denver, CO 20 May – The Underground – Phoenix, AZ 21 May – The Usual Place – Las Vegas, NV 22 May – Brick by Brick – San Diego, CA 23 May – Humdinger Brewing – San Luis Obispo, CA 24 May – Chain Reaction – Anaheim, CA 25 May – Neck of the Woods – San Francisco, CA 26 May – Harlow’s – Sacramento, CA
SUMMONING THE LICH is: David Bruno – Vocals Ryan Felps – Guitars Nick Muckerman – Guitars TJ Chilton – Drums

The Plague‘s latest pop punk ballad, “Living In The Past,” delves into themes of introspection and healing, touching on regret, grief, and the desire for redemption. The Plague explains, “I’ve lost a lot of close people to me in the past years. I hope this song can help anyone struggling with grief.”
The song opens with haunting synthesizers, setting the stage for a journey through the complexities of feeling lost and pondering what could have been. Throughout the lyrics, there’s a raw portrayal of the human experience, with references to loss, addiction, and missed opportunities alongside a yearning for forgiveness and understanding. Amidst the sadness, there’s a message of moving forward, suggesting that embracing change and moving forward is possible. Through its heartfelt reflection and relatable themes, “Living In The Past” offers comfort to those struggling with their past while hinting at the possibility of renewal and growth.
“Living In The Past” showcases The Plague‘s signature blend of rock and pop punk, with elements of modern and alternative rock woven seamlessly throughout into a ballad that journeys through despair and aspires to hope.
The Plague is the brainchild of producer/engineer David Adam Monroe, a pioneer of Future Punk. The Plague’s post-apocalyptic themes portray the struggles of being human, encouraging people to break free of the superficial and to know they are not alone.
David has been playing music from an early age, highly encouraged by his parents, he received an electric guitar at age ten and took off emulating his favorite bands at the time; Greenday, Smashing Pumpkins, and other 90’s rock bands. His career took off at age 16 when a promoter got his high school band on the Van’s Warped Tour.
As a producer/engineer, David has produced records with many artists including Glen Matlock from the Sex Pistols and multi-platinum engineer Earl Cohen. As a musician, he has toured internationally–including 4 years on Van’s Warped Tour— and has played with bands such as Tony Levin, My Chemical Romance, Story of the Year, NoFx, The Used, Yellow Card, Three Days Grace, and many more. ThePlague‘s debut album Hope For the F.U.T.U.R.E. was released independently in 2017.
In 2018 The Plague remixed Circle Of Dust’s “Embracing Entropy” (feat. Celldweller), through artist-owned record label FiXT. The Plague eventually signed to FiXT in 2022, and re-released the debut album with remastered tracks, new art as well as bonus tracks throughout the 2023, ahead of a new album slated for release in 2024.
“My goal with The Plague was to make futuristic Christian rock, when I was producing bands in Boston, my assistant showed me Celldweller and said, “This guy is dope and reminds me of you!” I chased Celldweller’s blend of synths and guitars, and that exploration process helped me discover my own sound. When I finished the record I emailed James (FiXT Manager) with the spirit of a little brother and said, “Hey James, look! I self-produced a futuristic rock record that I’m releasing on my label! You guys inspired this!” By some wonderful miracle he was excited too!” – The Plague
