Their brand new album single, “Erzsébet (The Countess)” is now streaming via https://mistermisery.bfan.link/erzsebet-the-countess

The band comments:

Sometime during the writing process of last year we realized that we have a habit of writing songs about specific characters, and one that we had not done yet was the infamous blood countess known as Elizabeth Bathory. This was felt like a perfect choice since our bass player Alister had actually traveled to Slovakia to see her castle ruins!

Fun fact: The voice of ‘the Countess’ and some other sound effects such as laughter and walking was recorded in the actual castle ruins in Cachtice where Erzsébet Bathory allegedly resided during her reign of terror.”

The new full-length was produced by MISTER MISERY at Unalive Studio, the cover art was designed by Stefan “GraveArt” Röhm. Pre-order your album copy now at https://shop.afm-records.de/de/mister-misery/

Blending clean and gritty vocals along with high-voltage riffs and anthemic choruses, MISTER MISERY have developed a unique sound and style, and one that captures the essence of all the sub-genres in modern heavy music. Since forming back in 2018, MISTER MISERY have released two critically acclaimed studio albums (Unalive and A Brighter Side Of Death) and several highly praised and top-playlisted singles to date. Paired with an obscene and theatrical appearance, they create an experience that speaks to all senses. MISTER MISERY has become a force that crushes stages on the biggest festival the scene has to offer, such as Wacken Open Air, Master of Rock, Full Metal Cruise, Hills Of Rock to name just a few. MISTER MISERY has played as support of some of the most prestigious bands in metal, such as Nightwish and Dream Theater in front of over 15.000 people. Their upcoming album and live dates will make no exception as one thing is for certain: MISTER MISERY will leave no survivors!

Theatrical emo rock group THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT today (April 19) share the first new music following their 2023 EP SOUNDS FROM BEYOND THE ABYSS (VOL. 1) via Better Noise Music. “You’re So Ugly When You Cry” features guest vocals from Bert McCracken of seminal emo rock outfit The Used who boast 2X RIAA Platinum certified releases (2002’s self-titled debut The Used and 2004’s In Love and Death), a RIAA Gold certification for 2007’s Lies For The Liars, and over 1.1 billion overall career streams. The song contrasts upbeat anthemic pop-punk melodies with lyrics about hitting rock bottom. “It’s not about healing, or the come-up later on, it’s about telling people ‘it sucks right now, I don’t like who I am when I’m like this, and I know you’ve felt the same way,” according to THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT vocalist LEE JENNINGS.

Listen/download “You’re So Ugly When You Cry (feat. Bert McCracken of The Used)” now at https://thefuneralportrait.ffm.to/ysuwyc.

“Working with Bert was a lifelong dream come true for us,” exclaims JENNINGS. “We all grew up with The Used being one of our biggest influences and it was a surreal moment when he reached back out saying he loved the song and wanted to be involved.”

THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT have also shared a captivating music video for “You’re So Ugly When You Cry (feat. Bert McCracken of The Used)” which introduces the “Coffin Crew” (the band’s name for their devoted followers) and their movement. Watch the video to find out more and the reveal of a special powerful ally to their cause via YouTube HERE or streaming below.

Lauded as one of Alternative Press’ “100 Bands You Need to Know,” THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT—LEE JENNINGS (vocals), CODY WEISSINGER (guitar), CALEB FREIHAUT (guitar/auxiliary), ROBERT WESTON (bass), and HOMER UMBANHOWER (drums)—have relentlessly toured across the country built an unwavering fanbase opening for acts including Shinedown, Ice Nine Kills, Underoath, Skillet, From Ashes To New, Starset, Pvris and ISSUES. The band’s intention for their music is to represent ‘outcasts’ from all walks of life–the weird, the misunderstood, the marginalized—which they showcase through their live performances which include extravagant theatrics, stage décor, costumed actors, and more. THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT will hit the road this spring as direct support to darkwave/emo rock group DEAD ON A SUNDAY from April 24 to May 10. They’ll also appear later in the year on festivals including So What?! Texas Music Festival (6/1), Louder Than Life (9/28) and Aftershock (10/12). See full dates listed below. German Swamp Metallers HELL IN THE SKIES have released their new single and video for ‘Vicious Scorn’ from upcoming EP “II“, set to be released on May 15th via Metalloscope Music.

Singer Asmoday turns his innermost self inside out in “Vicious Scorn“:
“I experienced a dark and mystical vision of a metaphysical nature, in which the fervent summoning of dark demons from the past took a fatal course.
The spirit of evil could be captured and channeled, putting the evoker in a high position to take over all control. Such bundled negativity was purposefully transformed into a higher power … a vicious army full of bitter hatred finally roamed the land like an infernally angry mob …”

As grim narrators of the dark, HELL IN THE SKIES present their artistic self-image. Yes, these evocative creators of their very own SWAMP METAL audibly feel called to higher things.

And with the unmistakable and hypnotically organic sound of their truly unique compositions, these instinctive masters guarantee a truly powerful (live) experience.

The new EP “II” presents six magnificently powerful and richly contrasting compositions, which are also consistently convincing vocally – after all, every second is bursting with sincere and honest authenticity.

US Deathcore Unit WASTE Announce “In Bloom” EP + Stream Video Single ‘Worthless’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 19, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: WASTE. Leave a comment

US brutalists WASTE have unveiled new single / video ‘Worthless’, a beast of a track and perfect example of what to expect from their new EP, In Bloom, set for a 10th May release via Seek & Strike.

WASTE are the embodiment of sheer brutality, as they continuously churn out tracks that are full of heaviness and intensity. However, make no mistake, because this is not your typical deathcore band, as they incorporate more dynamics into their song-writing, which offers up a unique vision and uncompromising sound. This is most evident on their vicious, new song/video, ‘Worthless’.

WASTE states: “We are very hyped to be working with Seek & Strike. It’s just crazy to us that people enjoy what we are doing enough to want to work with us on a professional level. Ever since we started our aim has always been high and getting to work with the likes of a team such as Seek & Strike is such a privilege for us. We chose to work with them because we truly feel they are as excited as we are about what our future holds. They’ve already shown us that their goal is to grow the band globally, not just throw us money and have us fend for ourselves.

“With these new songs, we wanted to tell a story that shined light on our collective lives and experiences. We touch on things like mental health and general hardships, but we also address certain topics that we take issue with. It’s no question that the world has gone through some truly crazy, even traumatizing events over the past few years and this EP tells a story of our perspective during this time.

“Our new track, ‘Worthless,’ is the first single to be released from this collection of new songs. We actually chose this to take the lead as the first single because we feel it’s really the culmination of what all of these new songs bring to the table. The music video, while simple, we feel represents the chaos and frenetic energy that the song puts out.

“Something that every member of this band feels strongly about is that we don’t want to try to sound like a carbon copy of any other band in our genre. We simply bring many different elements of metal that we all enjoy and create a sound that utilizes a little bit of everything, but again our aim is not to take directly from a certified band. We’ll always be trying new things and with that comes something that all our listeners can find enjoyment in. We don’t stick to one specific genre, or style of metal. Each song is an attempt to deliver a new experience. We strive to create a full experience for our listeners. Whether they see us live or they are just listening to us. We want to leave them feeling like they just watched a movie or just listened to the soundtrack to one. We want to invoke an emotional reaction within our listener. With it be anger or happiness, sadness or excitement. Our music is made to take the individual through their own journey.

“There are plenty of things about this new collection of music that we are proud of, but there are most definitely a few that really showcase aspects about all these tracks. The first one being the vocal performance of this record. Jeremy came at each one of these songs with a vengeance and delivered an absolutely incredible display showcasing the range of his vocal abilities. Every single member will say the first thing that stands out are the vocals. Instrumentally, we also pushed ourselves above and beyond to create something truly dynamic, overly aggressive and unique.

“However, arguably and most importantly, is the production side. We, once again, worked with our good friend, Chris Whited of 1776 Recordings/Bodysnatcher drummer, for this recording. Chris has always been consistent and an absolute pleasure to work with, but this time around we can tell he took a certain different angle with this record, which resulted in the best sounding mix he’s ever done. Every detail was given the time it required to make it sound the way it needed. From the drum mix to the tones, vocals and the extra production side of things, everything that was done was done with purpose. We’re stoked for you all to hear it and thanks for the support.”

In celebration of the one year anniversary of the release of their debut album, Seven Keys to the Discomfort of Being, PREDATORY VOID are making the Digital EP Live at dunk!studios available on all digital platforms: https://predatoryvoid.lnk.to/LiveAtDunkStudios

Lennart Bossu (guitar) about the EP: “Getting together in a room and playing these songs live is a huge part of the essence of this band. The focus here was not so much on note-for-note perfection, but rather on the overall vibe of the performance. We like to think that this collection of live versions of the songs forms a nice addition to our album ‘Seven Keys to the Discomfort of Being’ that was released almost exactly a year ago now. It is also a farewell of sorts to our former bass player Tim who mixed this EP.”

PREDATORY VOID were accompanied by the talented Diana Lungu who filmed the recording of the EP and today marks the release of the 2nd part of the video that you can watch here:

Immerse yourself in the full experience by also watching Part 1: https://youtu.be/v_HukYJQpsI

PREDATORY VOID live:
07.07.24 (BE) Ieper – Ieperfest
20.07.24 (BE) Herk-de-Stad – Rock Herk

PREDATORY VOID came to be when guitarist Lennart Bossu (Amenra, Oathbreaker) found himself writing material that wasn’t really suited for Amenra. Lennart gathered a group of likeminded people living in the area of Ghent (BE): the versatile vocalist and tattoo artist Lina R, Thijs De Cloedt (guitar; Cobra The Impaler), and Vincent Verstrepen (drums; Carnation). Bassist Kris Auman joined the band after Tim De Gieter focused on Amenra and Doodseskader.

PREDATORY VOID line-up:
Lina R – vocals
Lennart Bossu – guitar
Tim De Gieter – bass
Thijs De Cloedt – guitar
Vincent Verstrepen – drums
