2022 seen EMBRYONIC AUTOPSY taking the death metal scene by storm with their brutal banger of a debut Prophecies Of The Conjoined. This summer, on June 14, 2024, the US act launches its sophomore studio album Origins Of The Deformed through Massacre Records! Coming as CD Digipak, Ltd. Vinyl LP and Digital formats, the pre-sale is available at: https://lnk.to/originsofthedeformed

Their new material follows the sick and twisted lyrical style from Prophecies Of The Conjoined, and continues the story of the alien/human hybrid theory. Diving into more guts and gore than ever before, Origins Of The Deformed does not hold back lyrically. With song titles such as “Dissolving In Acidic Afterbirth”, “Orgies Of The Inseminated”, or like today’s premiere of the album opening track “Dripping In The Vaginal Nectar”, EMBRYONIC AUTOPSY takes you on a grotesque filled journey of the senses. Musically, the band continues to bring the listener the raw and powerful sound they are known for, while adding in some extra twists and turns with elements of grindcore, Swedish death metal, brutal American death metal, and even moments using the vocal fry register.

Their new single, “Dripping In The Vaginal Nectar” featuring a guest solo of Jack Owen (Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, ex-Six Feet Under), is out now on https://embryon icautopsy.bfan. link/drippingin thevaginalnecta r The video clip is premiering here:

Vocalist Tim King comments: “This song is built on the horror movie theme, lyrically of genetically altered infants feeding on the nutrients of the host being or mother, so to speak. It takes the genetically combined alien/human hybrid offspring into full development. The song also features a solo by Jack Owen (Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, ex-Six Feet Under).”

EMBRYONIC AUTOPSY forthcoming rager was produced and mixed by Scott Roberts, and was mastered by Ulrich Wild at the Wilderness Studios. Origins Of The Deformed features high class guest musicians, such as James Murphy, Jack Owen (Six Feet Under, ex-Cannibal Corpse, ex-Deicide) and Terrance Hobbs of Suffocation. The killer album artwork was designed by Cutting Edge Metal Studios.

In contrast to the first single’s title, ‘Deathlike Silence,’ the outfit’s latest tune caused a stir among fans of melancholic and dark but also progressive metal. Today, the band present invite listeners to explore another chapter of the album in the form of its intense title track. Featuring the acclaimed Tuvan throat singer Albert Kuvezin (YAT-KHA) and Russian singer Emily Saaen, the song incorporates unearthly drones that add an otherworldly dimension to the track. Lyrically describing a shapeshifing entity, THE ETERNAL have masterfully crafted a piece of profound heaviness, with Mark Kelson‘s almost chant-like vocals enhancing the haunting and eerie atmosphere created by the rest of the group.

Indiana blackened thrash and speed metal band WRAITH has today announced their signing to Prosthetic Records, with their new album, Fueled By Fear, due to be released via the Los Angeles label on June 28. Accompanying the signing and album announcement, WRAITH has shared lead single and music video, Heathen’s Touch.

Stream Heathen’s Touch via Apple Music | TIDAL | Deezer | Bandcamp and Spotify
Pre-order Fueled By Fear here.

Speaking on the signing and album announcement, WRAITH comments: “We are beyond excited to finally announce our signing with Prosthetic, along with the announcement of our new record Fueled By Fear. As a band that has been around a little while, we believe that this partnership will help push us to the next level. It is an absolute honor to work with a label that has been so instrumental in metal, and we hope that we can leave our mark like many other Prosthetic artists before us.”

Of Heathen’s Touch, the band adds: “Heathen’s Touch feels like a pummeling introduction to our new record. I believe that the song displays all the elements WRAITH fans, new and old, have come to appreciate. The song rips from start to finish, and it has one of our favorite bridge sections on the entire record.”

What started as a one-man band in 2016, WRAITH has evolved into a propulsive beast of a band. Channeling a reverence to classic metal from a bygone era, WRAITH incorporate their distinctively blistering sonic signature to create something urgent and contemporary. The band have previously described their collective mission as follows: a war of aggression on the dour confines of the modern metal scene and total sonic annihilation.

Fueled By Fear captures the raw punk edge of their previous releases; a sound that will already be familiar to converts who have caught the band live in all their full-throttled abrasive glory. The album was self-produced by the band in Griffith, Indiana, with engineering, mixing and mastering handled by CJ Rayson. Each member brings their own influences and stylistic flourishes to the table, combining to create a tightly wound, cohesive collection of scorching tracks that reflect their individual personalities and tastes.

Thematically the album explores a dystopian landscape where the boundaries between fiction and reality are blurred, and global and political tensions form in a powder keg of fraught possibilities. Whilst the tales they weave are rooted in reality and an interest in religion, history and political science, they have given themselves free reign to explore the outer reaches of nightmarish possibilities.

Fueled By Fear tracklist:
1. Asylum
2. Fueled By Fear
3. Horses and Hounds
4. Shame in Suffering
5. Code Red
6. Ice Cold Bitch
7. Warlord
8. Merchant of Death
9. Heathen’s Touch
10. Hell’s Canyon
11. Vulture
12. Shattered Sorrow
13. Truth Decay
14. The Breaking Wheel

Back firmly in the real world, WRAITH have a busy year of live shows planned and every intention of getting heads banging with their mosh-ready brand of snarling heavy metal.

CARMINE APPICE Rebuilds Legendary Rock Band CACTUS with Powerful New All-Star Album “Temple Of Blues – Influences & Friends”

Coming off two acclaimed studio albums (Black Dawn, Tightrope), and an energized historic live album, Birth Of Cactus, founding member and world renown drummer Carmine Appice returns with the ultimate tribute to his legendary rock band. Temple of Blues – Influences & Friends, merges the members of Cactus with a super ensemble of guest artists, all of whom have called the group among their biggest influences. Once heralded by critics as America’s answer to Led Zeppelin, Cactus recorded four hard rockin’ albums for Atco Records before Appice and bassist Tim Bogert left to form their own supergroup: Beck, Bogert & Appice.

“The music of Cactus has always been steeped in blues tradition,” says Appice, who wanted the group to re-visit its best songs within a modern rock approach to traditional blues. “We kept hearing from so many of our music celebrity friends how much Cactus influenced them and how they would love to be a guest on a Cactus album. Even our label President, Brian Perera from Cleopatra Records, suggested to us that this album happens. So,Temple Of Blues was the logical next step.”

The album is set for release on JUNE 7th 2024 as a CD and also as double vinyl album.

Featured along with the current Cactus band is a who’s who of blues and rock icons: Guitarists Joe Bonamassa, Ted Nugent, Pat Travers, Warren Haynes, Vernon Reid, Steve Stevens, Johnny A (The Yardbirds), Ty Tabor (King’s X) and bassists Billy Sheehan (Mr Big), Dug Pinnick (King’s X) Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder), Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol), Rudy Sarzo(Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne), Kenny Aaronson (ex- Joan Jet and The Yardbirds), as well as members of Government Mule, Vixen, Rainbow, Zebra, and Whitesnake. Vocalist Dee Snider of Twisted Sister appears on the band’s remake of the Howlin’ Wolf classic “Evil,” and Appice’s bandmate in Vanilla Fudge Mark Stein turns in a powerful vocal on Little Richard’s “Long Tall Sally.” A second version of “Guiltless Glider,” appears as a bonus track with former Judas Priest vocalist, Ripper Owens. Another of Appice’s musical partners, Fernando Perdomo, also appears on the new record.

In addition to Appice on drums on all tracks, original Cactus guitarist Jim McCarty also appears on Temple Of Blues. Current band members vocalist/guitarist and harmonica player Jim Stapley and bassist Jim Caputo also appear on many of the tracks. Appice announced today a new member to the band’s line-up: guitarist Artie Dillon will handle guitar duties for live tours and plays on one track for the new album. Founding member Jim McCarty currently contributes as a writing and recording member of Cactus on occasion but no longer does live tours.

The current line-up of Cactus came together in 2021. Lead vocalist Jim Stapley comes from England and had worked with ex-Faces/Who drummer Kenny Jones in the Jones Gang and Humble Pie. “Nearly five decades after I formed this band, the time had come to re-invent Cactus once again,” says Appice, who also still drums for Vanilla Fudge, The Appice Brothers Drum Wars, and a hybrid tribute to former band leader, Rod Stewart. Adds Appice: “The music remains the same and Cactus is still a ‘hot and sweaty’ band. The level, quality and consistence of the band’s musicianship is as strong as ever.”

Cactus has had a long and turbulent history. Formed in 1970 from the ashes of Vanilla Fudge by Carmine Appice and Tim Bogert, the initial line up also featured McCarty (from Mitch Ryder and The Buddy Miles Express) and Amboy Dukes vocalist Rusty Day. While Cactus saw success from the start and soon built a loyal fan base, by early 1973 the band had collapsed mainly due to lack of real support from its label and the fact that Jeff Beck was now ready play with Carmine and Tim in BBA.

The band reformed in 2006, three decades after the tragic death of Rusty Day with Randy Pratt on harp (who also appears on this album) and Jimmy Kunes vocals. When the late Tim Bogert was forced into retirement due to complications after a serious motorcycle accident, Pete Bremy joined on bass before Caputo replaced him in 2020.

Now, with a powerful new line-up Cactus and an album the marries the band with some of the biggest names in rock and blues, embarks on a new and exciting musical journey to the Temple Of Blues.

This time around, the music is just as powerful as before – and bound to be just as successful “one way or another.”

“Bass player Mark “The Animal” Mendoza of Twisted Sister, turned me onto Cactus. They were the hardest, heaviest, fastest (check out their version of “Parchman Farm” live at the Isle of Wight festival if you want proof) band of their time, setting the standard for hard rock/heavy metal bands to come! I was hooked! (Thanks, Mark!)

Cut to the early 90’s and during rehearsals for our new project Widowmaker, drummer Joe Franco and I play “Evil” for the ‘young guns’ in our band and their minds are completely blown. The next rehearsal I walked into my them jamming “Evil” like they’d discovered a new form of rock! I joined in on vocals, our producer heard us laying into it and said we had to put the song on our album (“Blood and Bullets”). “Evil” became a staple of every live show we played over the next couple of years.

To get a call from Carmine Appice, asking me to sing this song on a Cactus album is one of the highlights of my career. He told me I sounded more like the late great Rusty Day than anyone else he ever heard. Of course I do! You don’t fuck with perfection! Thank you Rusty, Timmy, Camine and Jim for showing me the way and allowing me (Carmine and Jim) the chance to do this. I am honored to rock with such greatness.” – Dee Snider, November 2023

“It was 1971, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Deep Purple and Yes were my go to bands, and one day I went to visit a musician friend who played me” Long Tall Sally” by Cactus! From the beginning Jim’s guitar intro I was hooked! The riff was so heavy, and when Rusty sang the first verse my mind was blown. A Little Richard cover!!!!..the reason I play rock music was because of Little Richard! So I listened to the whole album. Great song writing, Carmine’s brutal drumming, TIM’s bass and Jim’s guitar playing, So inspirational they were! Rusty had a special knack for writing amazing down to earth lyrics! I loved his voice! I learned to sing and play every song and I never looked back. These albums still stand the test of time!! Cactus is one of my ALLTIME favorite bands. This is why I said “Yes” to playing on this record.” – Dug Pinnick

SYK are relentless in their pursuit of sonic evolution. Since 2013, the Italian band have consistently delivered avant-garde metal that will make your head not only bang but spin. Their new album is even more innovative and intense. eartHFlesh doesn’t just push the envelope. It tears it apart.

eartHFlesh is released, Friday, May 10, and you can listen to all eight pummeling and thought-provoking songs on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

eartHFlesh showcases syk’s deadly expertise. The album is brutal yet meticulous in its craft. Frontman Stefano Ferrian (guitars), alongside stellar performances from Marcello Cravini (guitars), Alan La Roca (bass), and Federico Leone (drums) plunge listeners into a dark and ambitious vision for progressive metal.  Hard-hitting tracks such as I am the beast and the Cross are groundbreaking journeys through despair and destruction, while fitting perfectly within the album’s overarching narrative of societal decay and internal strife.

syk’s collaborative history, which includes unexpected stage performances with metal icons like Phil H. Anselmo and connections with influential labels such as Housecore Records, underpins eartHFlesh‘s significance in their illustrious career.

1. I am the beast (6:02) [LISTEN]

3. I’ll Haunt You In Your Dreams (6:08)
4. eartHFlesh (5:42) [WATCH]

SYK is a metal band that came into existence in 2013 when Stefano Ferrian and Federico De Bernardi di Valserra decided to embark on a new musical venture following the disbandment of their previous project, .psychofagist. They were soon joined by the immensely talented vocalist Dalila Kayros, whose vocal skills left a deep impression on the band during live performances.

In May 2014, syk released their debut album titled Atoma through L’Inphantile Collective. The album caught the attention of Philip H Anselmo from Housecore Records, who not only expressed his appreciation for the band’s work but also offered them a deal for their second album. This second album, titled I-Optikon, was released on December 2, 2016, and was produced by Philip H Anselmo himself. The album was notable for its technical compositions that offered a unique and unparalleled listening experience, as Metal Trenches aptly described it.

Following the release of their second album, the band welcomed their long-time friend Marcello Cravini as a permanent member, taking on the role of the second guitarist. syk subsequently embarked on extensive tours across Europe in 2017 and 2018 and had the honour of being the official support act for GODFLESH during their Italian/Slovenian run in May 2018. Additionally, they also participated in the prestigious Roadburn Festival in the same year, further cementing their reputation as a promising metal act.

In 2019, Federico made the difficult decision to leave the band due to personal reasons, and shortly after, the global pandemic hit, disrupting the band’s search for a new drummer. However, towards the end of 2020, Mauro Maraldo joined syk as their new drummer, and with their lineup complete, they wasted no time in entering the studio to record their third album. This album, titled Pyramiden, was released on March 11th, 2022, through Housecore Records/Nuclear Blast. The album’s distinct and powerful character earned syk high praise, with MetalheadCommunity recognizing them as one of the most promising metal acts of the time.

Pyramiden received further acclaim when it was included in the ProgSpace Awards 2022 under the category of ‘Album of the Year 2022/Extreme Prog Category’, alongside esteemed acts like Fallujah, Allegaeon, Cult of Luna, and Conjurer. Unfortunately, soon after the album’s release, both Mauro and Dalila had to depart from the band due to personal reasons.

However, syk, known for their sonic evolution, decided to press on. Founding members Stefano and Marcello continued working on their fourth album while actively searching for new members. Alan La Roca joined the band as the bass player, solidifying the lineup, but the search for a drummer remained a challenge. It wasn’t until Federico Leone answered their call that the band found their new drummer. With the lineup in place consisting of Stefano Ferrian as the new frontman, guitarist, and main songwriter, Marcello Cravini on guitars, Alan La Roca on bass, and Federico Leone on drums, syk took on a new form.

In early 2023, syk caught the attention of Season Of Mist, who signed them for the release of their fourth album, eartHFlesh. This album not only marks the band’s latest offering but also signifies their first decade as a band. With a reinvigorated sound and an intensified sonic progression, syk continues to captivate listeners and solidify their place in the metal scene.

THE COLD STARES Announce New Album “The Southern”

The Cold Stares, known for their electrifying blend of blues-rock, have just announced details of their highly anticipated seventh studio album, ‘The Southern,’ set for release on September 6th via Mascot Records. Delving deep into their Southern roots for the first time on record, the album embodies a true reflection of their heritage. “When it came time to record this album, I thought about everybody giving us this Southern rock tag, and decided to intentionally write songs that explore that,” says singer-guitarist Chris Tapp. “In doing so, I realized that being Southern, for me, is more than an accent, and a setlist of songs. It’s about family and tradition.”

Pre-order The Southern here – https://lnk.to/TheColdStares

Tracklisting:

  1. Horse to Water
  2. Coming Home
  3. Looking For A Fight
  4. Blow Wind Blow
  5. Confession
  6. Level Floor Blues
  7. Seven Ways to Sundown
  8. No Love in the City Anymore
  9. Giving It Up
  10. Woman
  11. Mortality Blues

The latest single from the album, “Coming Home,” is a plaintive, bluesy number played on dobro, echoing the depth of Southern familial ties and personal resilience. “Perhaps our most rootsy song to date, I wrote this song after a trip back to my hometown in Kentucky,” Tapp shares. “Touring the world and seeing so many countries has made me realize how unique the place I grew up was, and this song is just about getting back to our roots and where we came from.” Tapp sings about the enduring advice of his father: “My Father said son don’t forget to pray/Cause you know there will come a day/When this old world turns against you/You better have a plan to make your way.”

Initially formed in 2012, The Cold Stares began its career as a duo, but expanded its sonic firepower with the addition of bassist Bryce Klueh in 2022. The Cold Stares has been praised by Classic Rock Magazine, No Depression, and American Songwriter, among other outlets; reached #1 on Amazon Music’s Blues Rock album chart; earned prime sync license placements in commercials, on major network television, and on sports games. Their song, “Mojo Hand,” is the trailer song for Cyberpunk 2077, and has amassed over 10 million streams on YouTube. The band has shared stages with
Larkin Poe, Rival Sons, Reignwolf, JJ Grey & Mofro, Spoon, Grand Funk Railroad, and Thievery Corp.

Though the trio has below the Mason-Dixon Line origins, the group mines a woolier sound than expected. Fuzzed-out guitars, Zep-style riffs, and fleet-fingered Cream-style improvisations abound, as do nods to Delta blues.

“Our version of the South is different,” says Tapp. “When Brian and I were young, we would sit in with these old guys at the local lodge, at the time they were still playing the old hits by Bad Company, Robin Trower, and AC/DC mixed in with country and southern rock – artists like the Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd. When I heard Free’s ‘All Right Now’ I thought they were from Georgia!”

Drawing from the wild tales his grandfather shared with him, Tapp’s cinematic songwriting weaves narratives as vivid as the Western movies they watched together. These stories of crooked cops and outlaw heroes, and local legends like “Hoppy” who tapped out rhythms while shining shoes, infuse the album with a rich, narrative depth. It is thus fitting that one of the standout tracks is titled “Coming Home,” a song that encapsulates the essence of these tales and the sense of returning to one’s roots.

“We are so proud to tip a hat to Kentucky on this album, and embrace being ambassadors of the South,” Tapp concludes, bringing the journey of ‘The Southern’ full circle—a heartfelt tribute to the land and stories that shaped them.
