UK’s legendary GRAND SLAM have unleashed the video for “Spitfire”, the ferocious second single from the new studio album, Wheel Of Fortune – out on June 7th via Silver Lining Music.

“I simply can’t wait for you guys to listen to this track. It’s a complete monster!” exclaims front man Mike Dyer. “We had the music and the lyrics weren’t quite breaking through. I went to bed that night in the studio under considerable pressure from the boys and I read an incredible story about a young 12-year-old who had a fear of heights, he overcame his fear by jumping off a high board. Eventually, he moved from South Africa to Oxford, England and became a Spitfire ace, age 19!”

Grand Slam’s story has been a true journey of destiny, one where early unions ended up leaving unfinished business on the table, and one which finally sees the band attending to said-business with the brand-new album Wheel Of Fortune. From Archer’s faultless, fearless fret-driven song architecture on ‘Spitfire’ to Dyer’s swagger and style on ‘There Goes My Heart’. There are moments such as ‘Come Together (In Harlem)’ where the moody strut of original co-founder Phil Lynott is unmistakable, yet the multi-layered steamy swing of ‘Pirate Song’ makes it very clear Grand Slam are firing forwards with all guns blazing. Joined by Benjy Reid on drums and Rocky Newton on bass, the creative vigor and will to propel Grand Slam is stronger still, with the new album Wheel Of Fortune being the true statement to this.

“We have a direction that is in my heart, it’s a tribal thing,” Dyer explains, “and the Wheel Of Fortune album is Grand Slam in big boy pants without any scaffolding. This band is something very special; I’m slightly biased I know, but God, I’m really proud of that.”

Wheel Of Fortune will be released on digital and physical formats on June 7th. The album will be available in a variety of formats and pre-orders can be placed at this location

The first single/video released from the album, ‘There Goes My Heart’ is available to stream at this location (video directed, produced and edited by Paul M Green).

Grand Slam will also re-release their debut album Hit The Ground. Re-mixed, re-mastered and featuring new Artwork, Hit The Ground – Revised, will be released on May 10th on digital formats and June 7th on physical formats. Pre-orders can be placed at this location

With an overall joy at everything going in their world, Grand Slam will be here whether you are or not, because this not a band rumbling in from their past, it’s a band striding forward into their bright future.

“I want everybody to see this as a new band… and anybody that hasn’t heard Grand Slam since 1984, I want them to see this as a fresh invigoration of the project moving into the modern times” concludes Archer.

SiX By SiX, the progressive power trio comprising Ian Crichton (Saga), Nigel Glockler (Saxon) and Robert Berry (3.2), recently announced the release of their sophomore album ‘Beyond Shadowland’ on InsideOutMusic on 26th April 2024. The band reconvened in Berry’s own Soundtek Studios in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2023 to bend, shape, hammer and caress their diverse musical talents into 11 impressive new tracks.  With this album, they continue to define and build upon their unique melodic space, welding guitar-driven rock, metal and prog into a unique and powerful sonic setting.

Today the band are pleased to launch a video for the new track ‘The Mission’, and you can check that out here:

Robert Berry comments of the track: “The Mission is the closing track on ‘Beyond Shadowland’ and a song that I am incredibly proud of. Propelled by Nigel’s signature drumming and featuring Ian’s extraordinary unique guitar stylings front and centre, the song is the perfect way to finish the ‘Beyond Shadowland’ journey, while hinting at the music that we still have ahead of us. On our last album, the closing track Save The Night proved to be our most popular song, so we’re hoping to repeat the trick with The Mission!”

SiX By SiX are also extremely pleased to announce their first ever live date, with the band taking to the stage at the ProgStock festival in the United States in October 2024 alongside Saga and a number of other bands.

Find more details here: https://www.progstock.com/2024

Later this spring SiX By SiX expect to announce some European dates to take place in the autumn.

The bands self-titled debut, released in 2022, established the trio as a power chord-driven celebration of artistry, passion and persistence. Prog Magazine said that the record was “exciting, often potent and demands repeated listens”, while Classic Rock Magazine called it “an inspired opening salvo that bubbles with chemistry.”

Background:
Ian Crichton is best known as one of the founding members of Saga, alongside his brother Jim. Saga went on to sell roughly 10 million albums world-wide and continue to perform around the world. As the driving force behind SiX By SiX, Ian takes a cunning turn, in assembling another potent band but one that focuses on his guitar prowess.  This time with established players, each with a celebrated past, refined skills, and unlimited potential.

Nigel Glockler began his career in 1980 as the drummer for the British band Krakatoa. In 1981 he found an opportunity with singer Toyah.  By the end of the year, he joined metal legends, Saxon. Except for two brief absences, Nigel has been behind his massive drum kit as an integral part of Saxon ever since. His powerhouse drumming is the engine that drives SiX By SiX’s songs forwards relentlessly.

Robert Berry first gained international attention with San Francisco-based Hush, releasing well-received recordings and then touring the USA. In the mid-1980s Berry’s first solo album garnered positive reviews in the most influential trade publications and attracted the attention of several major labels. At the suggestion of one of those labels, Robert moved to the UK to work with guitarist Steve Howe (of Yes fame) along with drummer Nigel Glockler in an effort to revitalize GTR. When GTR stalled, Robert partnered with British rock legends Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer to form ‘3’.  With Emerson and Palmer, Robert achieved a top ten charting single and toured the USA. Robert’s melodic sensibilities complement Ian’s extraordinary guitar and Nigel’s signature drumming perfectly.

DUFT Release ‘Caved In’ Single from Upcoming Debut Album

Duft has released “Caved In”, second single taken from the debut album “Altar Of Instant Gratification” to be released on May 17th by Scarlet Records. PRE-SAVE/PRE-ORDER

The song’s lyrics tap into the anguish of witnessing someone weave a web of lies, stealing and manipulating for their own gains, while you attempt to sound the alarm only to be met with skepticism. When the facade finally shatters, and the destructive world of the deceiver comes crashing down, you feel a sense of triumph. It’s probably not a healthy feeling, but a great one nonetheless.

LISTEN HERE

ICE COLD METALCORE BRUTALITY
Recorded and engineered by Leifur Örn Kaldal and Þorsteinn Gunnar Friðriksson (Une Misère) at Veldið Studio;
Drums recorded by Benjamin Bent Árnason (Une Misère);

FFO: Code Orange, Jesus Piece, Zulu, End, Slipknot, God Forbid, Cancer Bats;

“Altar Of Instant Gratification” will be released in the following formats:

  • jewel case CD
  • vinyl LP
  • digital

“Altar Of Instant Gratification” showcases relentless musicianship amidst the calculated chaos of crushing metallic riffs, frantic tempos, punishing breakdowns and the lyrical rage of hardcore punk.

The main theme of the Reykjavik’s band is the ever present feeling that Planet Earth is falling to pieces: most people are too busy in childish pursuits of instant gratifications and avoiding pain to embrace the fact that the world has become a bleak hardcore place!

To strive in it, you must be willing to show courage, think critically for yourself and don’t buy into dogmatic truths – hold yourself accountable and stay true.

This ain’t no record for fainted hearts, indeed.

“Altar Of Instant Gratification” tracklist:
1 Intro
2 Caved In
3 Dragged Across Concrete
4 Instant Gratification
5 Waste From Birth
6 Scarfaced Blues
7 Doctrine
8 20th Century Doom

Another year, another spring. The world might still be burning, but at least the sun has graced the north with longer days and shorter nights.

Sänka Dig was initially intended for KNOGJÄRN‘s previous album “Mera Bedövning”, but it never really fit in. Somethings in life just need a little more time before they fall into place.

So, after letting it rest for a while, Knogjärn chose to have another look at Sänka Dig and this time they managed to weld into perfection. Now, one year after “Mera Bedövning”, Knogjärn is finally ready to release this little feisty beast, with an accompanying music video!

Look at is as little gift for the loyal fans to enjoy in the spring sun, while our guys are working on their next album, giving blood, sweat and tears.

Listen to the single here: https://orcd.co/sankadig

On Sänka Dig, Knogjärn comment:
“You know the feeling of talking to deaf ears. The frustration of trying to help someone who refuses to listen. Sometimes the only thing you can do is “let go” and let karma do its job.
This song puts into words the emptiness you feel when you’re witnessing someone ruin their own life and all you can do is watch”

Sänka Dig is written by Knogjärn and recorded and mixed by Oscar Nilsson in Crehate Studios. Master by Thomas “Plec” Johansson at Panic-Room Productions. Artwork by Carl Stjärnlöv

FFO: Everything raw, heavy, and hard.

ABOUT KNOGJÄRN
With its explicit Swedish lyrics and an emphasis on the “Hard” in Hard Rock, the unique sub-genre of Swedish Hard Rock is something you’ve got to love.

Knogjärn are a band with their heart and soul buried deep within this genre. Their take on melodic hard rock combined with heavier elements from hardcore and metal makes Knogjärn into the perfect music to shake of yesterday and move into the future with.

Pumping up the listener and turning everyone into a true Swedish Hard Rock fan.

Since the start in 2015, Knogjärn has delivered nothing but sonic raging anger with an unapologetic, IN-YOUR-FACE attitude. The foursome drops super-charged records, but they hit even harder when on stage: “We want you to like our live performance even if you don´t like our music”, the band states.
Their records are the testimony that Knogjärn always give 100%! Hard’n’heavy riffs with raging vocals and explicit lyrics speak beyond their vernacular, beloved by their ever-growing crowd of fans.

Kim Eriksson – Vocals
Markus Hurtig – Guitar
Rasmus Sörbom – Bass
Johan Hidén – Drums

KIARA LAETITIA Returns with Acoustic Cover of Linkin Park’s ‘In The End’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 17, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Kiara Laetitia. Leave a comment

Rock singer, artist manager and mental health advocate Kiara Laetitia returns from a six-year hiatus, during which she explored various creative avenues, including organizing a virtual music festival and writing a book. The artist’s comeback single is an acoustic cover of Linkin Park’s historic track ‘In The End’ – a song that held significance for Kiara during her battles with panic attacks and depression.

Stripping back the glitchy, distorted aesthetic of the original, Kiara’s rendition is performed over an emotionally charged piano accompaniment paired with a delicate vocal performance that fills the atmosphere with vulnerable delivery. As the track progresses, Kiara’s confidence steadily crescendos, growing to a powerful final chorus, wrapped with elegance and passion.

Kiara shares a comment on the track, “I’ve always loved In The End since day one when I found the video on MTV. It wasn’t an easy moment for me, I was living at home with my parents, panic attacks were so bad I could barely leave the house and no one could understand what I had. Chester’s voice immediately gave me goosebumps, I felt like it ripped my soul in pieces but at the same time it gave me hope.  In The End to me is the battle with my demons”

As an artist, Kiara’s highlights have come in the form of 2007 album The Last Gate and 2013 solo EP ‘Fight Now’, both of which topped the charts at #3 on the Japanese Rock & Pop charts and #15 on Amazon Music Italy, respectively.

In 2014, she embarked on a new venture, founding record label and artist management company, Musicarchy Media. Under Kiara’s guidance, bands have shared stages with acts like Steel Panther, Backyard Babies, The Pretty Reckless, and Skindred, touring extensively across the USA, United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany, and Russia.

In 2019, Kiara published book ‘NEVER GIVE UP The Real Secrets Of The Music Industry’, offering advice to independent musicians. The following year, Kiara created Online Female Fest, the first all-female virtual festival in its genre. With artists from three continents, four hours of music and over fifty thousand impressions, the festival showcased performances from notable figures like Share Ross from Vixen and two-time Grammy nominee Lacey Sturm.

FULL OF HELL Unleash Video for Title Track of New Album “Coagulated Bliss”

American grindcore outfit Full of Hell will release their brand new full-length Coagulated Bliss on 26th April via Closed Casket Activities – and today they unleash the title track together with a new music video directed by by Will Mecca.

Pre-orders for Coagulated Bliss are available here: https://closedcasketactivities.com/collections/full-of-hell

Stream the single here: https://orcd.co/coagulatedbliss

Dylan Walker comments: “This song is a lyrical summation of the record as a whole. Seeking the unattainable. Drowning in it.”

Spencer Hazard adds: “Dave and I wrote this song with a band like Today is the Day in mind. Noisy guitar and jazzy drums but a riff that gets stuck in your head.”

Full of Hell burst forth with incredible force from the small, dagger-shaped city of Ocean City, Maryland, 15 years ago. Over five full-lengths, five collaborative full-lengths, and countless splits, EPs, singles, and noise compilations, they’ve evolved at extraordinary speed, their music becoming more complicated and technical without ever slowing down or losing its soul. Everything on a Full of Hell album feels like a blur: smears of guitar, harsh noise shaken like gravel in a bag, singer Dylan Walker’s snarl and bite carrying him into outer space or into the core of the earth. They’re coiled, interlocking, impossible to penetrate, and they move with alarming speed.

They have now reached terminal velocity. Having created their own context, they’re now able to walk around within it, to survey its terrain, to visit far corners and see who’s nearby. Their forthcoming album, Coagulated Bliss, sounds like Full of Hell, but it’s nothing like any Full of Hell record that’s come before it. These songs are trimmer, less freighted with anxiety, more interested in opening up than speeding away. Its bile is sometimes funnelled into traditional song structures. It never shies away from the extreme harsh noise, unrelenting spirit, and pitch-black sadness of previous Full of Hell records; if anything, the leanness of these songs makes them feel even heavier. Nevertheless, there are tracks here you might find yourself whistling hours after listening. It’s an extraordinary and unexpected evolution in sound for a band who made their name on rapid metamorphosis, and it’s the logical endpoint of everything Full of Hell has covered so far. “I wanted to try to take every aspect of what we’ve done from previous releases and integrate it into this one,” guitarist Spencer Hazard says.

These songs feel huge, totemic, groundshaking. Take the album’s first single, ‘Doors to Mental Agony‘— which premieres today alongside a music video directed by Erich Richter— which sets up a circle pit, then blasts it apart with a grindcore chorus, and slides away on a slanted riff.

Coagulated Bliss was written and recorded shortly after Full of Hell completed When No Birds Sang, their collaborative album with Nothing. Working with the Philadelphia shoegazers gave Full of Hell new insight into the emotional and artistic power of classic pop songwriting, and to the importance of following a song where it wants to go. “That was a good experience of learning how to find what actually services a song,” Hazard says. “Even with Roots of Earth Are Consuming My Home, even when we’ve had an extreme grindcore influence, I still wanted it to be catchy.” Walker also cites the band’s work with The Body for helping him to “recognize that there was value in pop music.” Accordingly, Coagulated Bliss features some of Full of Hell’s strongest songwriting: Gone is the frenetic flailing of Garden of Burning Apparitions and Weeping Choir; in its stead is a richer, thicker sound, one that’s considerably less ornamented—and somehow heavier than ever.

While the focus on songwriting already makes Coagulated Bliss the most grounded album in Full of Hell’s catalogue, it’s also the first Full of Hell record that tries in earnest to reflect the world around it—not in some broad, monotony-of-evil way, but the everyday horrors of life in small town America. Three of the four members of the band were raised in Ocean City. Hazard and Bland still live there, while Walker is located in central Pennsylvania and bassist Samuel DiGristine relocated to Philadelphia. “The American dream is small towns,” Hazard says. “But anyone that’s grown up in a small town realizes it’s just as f*cked up in a small town as it is in a big city—if not more, because it’s more condensed.”

Walker’s lyrics have always framed their suffering with what he calls “fantastical, metaphorical sh*t,” but on Coagulated Bliss his writing is clear and direct. The album’s title is meant partly to reflect the idea of the over-pursuit of happiness leading to misery—whether in addiction, greed, or anything else. “Your happiness is just out of reach and you don’t know why,” he says. “Too much of this bliss, you think you’ve found your endpoint, but it’s really just this small, tiny, little thing that’s going to ruin your f*cking life. And that could be anything.”  The album’s viciousness and Walker’s clear reading of the world around him might scan as misanthropy, but it comes from a place of disappointment that’s driven by a deep love for people and life and the world. “There’s not a lot of anger, to be honest,” he says. “I’ve never felt anger when we’re playing, ever. It feels like electricity that’s built up in my body that has to get out. But I feel more profoundly sorrowful than I ever do anger.”

The world may be in a constant state of bitter flux, but Full of Hell have never sounded more at home in it. “We’ve shed any kind of ‘do we belong in this space, what do people expect of us,’” Walker says. “The joy is in the pursuit.” The loosening of their grip on the direction of their music has made it feel paradoxically closer to the bone. “People tend to burrow themselves so deeply into things they love,” Walker says. “It’s too much of a good thing, and it almost cheapens it.” By paring back their sound, Full of Hell aren’t just finding a new way forward: They’re proving that a little bit less of a good thing can add up to so much more.

See Full of Hell on the road in April and May across North America with Dying Fetus.

Coagulated Bliss was recorded at Developing Nations in Baltimore by Kevin Bernstein, mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit Recording Studio in Van Nuys California and mastered by Nick Townsend of Infrasonic Sound in Los Angeles California. Full of Hell is Spencer Hazard (guitar/electronics), David Bland (drums/vocals), Samuel DiGristine (bass/sax/vocals), and Dylan Walker (vocals/electronics/lyrics), with new guitarist Gabriel Solomon joining following the album’s completion.
