Supergroup CATEGORY 7 to Release Eponymous Debut Full-Length on July 26th

CATEGORY 7, the new heavy metal outfit boasting the all-star lineup of John Bush (Armored Saint, Anthrax), Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob, Sonic Universe, Noturnall), Phil Demmel (Machine Head, Kerry King, Vio-Lence), Jack Gibson (Exodus), and Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall, Overkill), will release their self-titled debut full-length on July 26th through Metal Blade Records.

With veteran musicians from so many legendary bands, it’s hard not to think of CATEGORY 7 as a supergroup. “I think we’re pretty super,” jokes guitarist Phil Demmel, who has earned mega-metal cred over the decades as a member of Machine Head, Vio-Lence, Kerry King, and has also played as a fill-in road guitarist for Slayer, Lamb of God, Overkill, and others. “Really, I feel like this is a band, not a side project. And I feel like we have written this incredible piece of music, and we’re not done. I’m so proud of the way this came together and the people who were involved. And I think we all feel super positive about this and what else we can do with it going forward.“

CATEGORY 7 has created an album that is fresh and familiar. The mixture of NWOBHM, thrash, punk-metal, and traditional metal is cohesive and sonically rewarding, establishing an eclectic musical backdrop for vocalist John Bush’s instantly identifiable vocals. At the same time, the diversity of styles creates its own template that’s ideal for headbanging, moshing, and voluble sing-alongs.

“It’s all about big verses and big songs, and it has a lot of the elements we’ve explored in our other bands,” explains guitarist and main songwriter Mike Orlando.

Take lead single, the upbeat album opener, “In Stitches,” which commences with piledriving double-bass drums, a feral thrash passage, and a fiery lead before toning down just enough for the distinctive vocals to stand out.

“It gets heavy, it’s thrashy at times, but it opens up in the verses, and then the double-bass drums come in and knock you off your chair, but in a great way,” Orlando says.

Bush further elaborates, “I read an article on an unhoused pregnant woman named Stitches who resided in Los Angeles obviously living a very difficult life that was compounded by mental illness and drug abuse. The encampment situation in my beloved city drives me bats. I balance between serious empathy and complete anger. The combination of imagining her life as well as my own internal turmoil led me to an almost humorous insanity state while writing this scathing album opener.”

Category 7 was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Orlando at Sonic Stomp Studios with art and layout by Carlos Fides at Artside Studio (Angra, Evergrey, Kamelot).

June 7, 2024 sees US hard rock / metal veterans HOLY MOTHER present the follow-up to “Face This Burn”, and their overall seventh studio album “Rise”! Coming as CD Digipak, Ltd. Vinyl LP and Digital formats via Massacre Records , the album pre-sale is available at: https://lnk.to/holymotherrise

Following the previously-released, first single “Fire”, today, the band has shared another groove-ladden album appetizer, a music video for the track “Jeremiah”! HOLY MOTHER frontman Mike Tirelli comments:
“Do you know when you hear a song name like ‘Jeremiah’? You automatically think Jeremiah was a bullfrog. But I wrote a song about Jeremiah, a bad man! This song is really about a corrupt billionaire businessman, and the people that get fooled by his persuasiveness.
The heavy groove and the riff of this song is what I like the best. And not to mention the heavily inspired Dio-ish vocal vibe that really puts this song over the top.”

“Jeremiah” is now streaming on all digital providers at https://holymot her.bfan.link/j eremiah, watch the video clip premiering here:

In a career that spans from the 1990’s until the present day, HOLY MOTHER has delivered some of the most blistering American, fist-pumping music of their genre and pulls no punches with its heaviest and most powerful release to date.

New album anthems like “Rise”, “Power”, “Fire”, “Rain” “Jeremiah”, and “Hex” will have you banging your head and stomping your feet, and the classic “Live To Die” from the critically acclaimed “Toxic Rain” album of HOLY MOTHER‘s past is brought to new life, channeling the spirit of the late, great HOLY MOTHER co-founder Randy Coven.

This album will melt your face, compel you to raise your fists and rebel and as HOLY MOTHER intend to lead the force of metal followers to their destiny with the driving force of the amazing Ronnie James Dio-style vocals of Mike Tirelli, the blistering shredding of the young guitar prodigy Mickey Lyxx, the pounding in-your- face drumming of powerhouse James Harris, and the blazing bass of the Brit, Wayne Banks. HUNTSMEN Share New Single + Music Video ‘In Time, All Things’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 2, 2024

Photographer credit: Sam Porter

HUNTSMEN has today shared the lead single and music video, titled In Time, All Things, from their upcoming third album, The Dry Land, which is set for release via Prosthetic Records on June 7. In Time, All Things‘ music video was directed by Ryan Luciani (GoodFriend), with the track ushering in The Dry Land‘s overarching themes of the liminal space between the living and the dead.

Stream In Time, All Things via Apple Music, TIDAL, Deezer, Bandcamp and Spotify.

Speaking on the single and music video release, Chris Kang (guitar and vocals) comments: “We chose In Time, All Things as our first single because it is a sanctuary directly at the border between life and death, which is the subject matter of The Dry Land. It’s a place where an exhausted traveler can find respite while looking upon the mirrored realms, reflect upon their beauty, indifference, and desolation, and decide next steps.

“For those who have seen death, the warm light of the living day must share space in the heart with the frigid night of the eternal process. Where once the only direction was forward, now there is also back, where the dead remain, frozen in time. The survivor is pulled between both, their soul the prize in a war as old as existence. We hope to capture the possibility that both the night and day can coexist, balanced, within the still-beating heart.”

Following the release of their sophomore full-length, Mandala of Fear, in 2020 and The Dying Pines EP in 2022 HUNTSMEN’s intervening years between studio albums were marked with devastatingly contrasting highs and lows. Whilst their body of studio work continued to garner acclaim from fans and critics alike, chronic illness would become a recurring uphill battle for the ensemble. As these jarring mixed fortunes reached their apex towards the end of 2022, the band reached towards each other outside of their craft as old friends. Taking stock of four years of tribulations led to a reevaluation of what it is to be creatives and, in turn, ushered in a collective rebirth.

Writing sessions for The Dry Land saw a number of artistic firsts for HUNTSMEN, most notably with the first full collaborative inclusion of vocalist Aimee Bueno-Knipe. The creative process soon saw HUNTSMEN adding more black metal influences into their Americana and folk tinged doom, evidenced most overtly on tracks such as This, Our Gospel and lead single In Time, All Things. Elsewhere, HUNTSMEN’s knack for finely crafted and richly layered melodies offer moments of resplendence on the slow burning Lean Times and closer The Herbsight.

Mirroring the circumstances and environment that led to its creation, The Dry Land’s pacing is one rooted in the art of rise and fall dynamics both musically and lyrically. Tales of escaping religious violence, malevolent apparitions and death incarnate all play key roles throughout the album’s narrative thread. HUNTSMEN treat each tale as both exorcism and exaltation, adding a pervasively unsettling quality to The Dry Land that is sure to stick long after the runtime is over.

The Dry Land was recorded and mixed by Pete Grossmann at Bricktop Studios before being placed in the hands of Brad Boatright for mastering, with the resulting sound adding a towering grandiosity to the album whilst simultaneously highlighting HUNTSMEN’s newfound corrosive qualities. The Dry Land’s striking cover art was created by Derek Setzer, depicting an immolating dancer in high contrast black and white amongst rusted gold.

Through the fire, HUNTSMEN find themselves reborn on The Dry Land.

w/ Without Waves and Anatomy of Habit

Marc Stranger-Najjar – bass and vocals
Ray Bueno-Knipe – drums and vocals
Gavin Cushman – guitar and vocals

March/April UK tour wrap

The UK tour was like floating in a sea of sequins, bodily fluids and liquid ecstasy! Fantastic having Ward XVI along as support!

“the beauty of a Tragedy show…. pure escapism, blisteringly good music…there’s no one out there doing this as well as they do” – My Global Mind

“what makes Tragedy so special, the musical skill and metal interpretations are fantastic, but every single song is a classic that the audience know every word to. The end result is the band don’t play a single song themselves, each and every one is sung along to by the totally engrossed crowd.” – Livewire

“Watching the audience made my night. From the lady in black to my right who was absolutely losing her shit, to the one in front of me who was celebrating her birthday, to the guys behind me banging their heads to the heavier riffs… every single one had the biggest smiles on their faces throughout. Tragedy are the epitome of ‘party band’. Great music, great songs, great fun. Hands down one of those bands you just have to catch live.”” – Moshville Times

“the crowd and myself don’t care we are singing along, have the simply the best time to this twisted rock band.” – Metal Planet Music

WORMED Announce New Album “Omegon”, Out July 5th

Amidst the most infinite expanses of the universe – where modern advances in technology collide with ancient alien forces – stand the almighty Wormed. The brutal space invaders are poised to take another quantum leap into the world of technical death metal with their highly-anticipated fourth album. Omegon was recorded at BlackStorm Studios and mixed and mastered to perfection by Colin Marston. On lead single “Automaton Virtulague”, the band transcend into a crushing and heady new dimension.

Omegon comes out July 5 on Season of Mist. Pre-order and Stream: https://orcd.co/wormedomegon

On “Automaton Virtulague”, Wormed twist technical brilliance and brutal elegance into an alternative universe. The song opens a hole into the album’s overarching, mind-bending, sci-fi narrative. A shadowy hacker named Krighsu battles against galactic civilizations over the mysterious Omegon, a cosmic substance that defies the grasp of mere mortals. Behind the double helix of guitarists Migueloud and D-Kazar, Phlegton’s blackhole growl bends the fabric of space and time.

The video for “Automaton Virtulague” was created by Polyhedron with concepting and post-production by Phlegeton Art Studio.

Cover art by Phlegeton – “Phlegeton Art Studio”

Tracklist
1. Automaton Virtulague (4:13) [WATCH]
2. Pareidolia Robotica (4:56)
3. Protogod (4:48)
4. Pleoverse Omninertia (3:44)
5. Malignant Nexus (1:58)
6. Virtual Teratogenesis (4:28)
7. Aetheric Transdimensionalization (4:53)
8. Gravitational Servo Matrix (4:25)
9. Omegon (7:31)
Total runtime: 41:00

Space – the final frontier. Yet, when WORMED reach out into the void, the results sound far more like a dark space opera inhabited by bizarre aliens, genetically and technically evolved meta-humans struggling for power and survival in galactic empires. Now, the nano-technological war has been unleashed in the void to defeat the last sower of human life, Krighsu!

Odd-time signatures, avalanches of breaks and complex rhythmical as well as melodic patterns will excite every aficionado of extreme technicality, while growls down-tuned strings and double-bass assaults will more than satisfy extreme metal connoisseurs. While being outstandingly skilled musicians Wormed are avoiding any self-indulgent show of prowess for its own sake. Instead, the five-piece from Madrid clearly lays its emphasis on creating atmospheric songs, which develop and grow along the underlying story.

Originating from Spain’s capital Madrid in 1998, Wormed immediately made an impact in the death metal scene with the release of their ‘Floating Cadaver in the Monochrome’ MCD (1999). Following a promo CD under the title ‘Voxel Mitosis’ (2001), the first studio album ‘Planisphaerium’ received high acclaim by critics and fans alike in 2003. In the wake of their debut full-length, the Spanish received invitations to international festival shows and touring around the globe. Wormed performed in Japan alongside GORATORY and VOMIT REMNANTS and afterwards hit Europe with MALIGNANCY and DESPONDENCY.

A creative hiatus, partly due to line-up changes and filled with re-issues of their previous released as well as the single ‘Quasineutrality’ (2010) finally ended, when their sophomore album ‘Exodromos’ came out in 2013. On their third full-length ‘Krighsu’ (2016), the fast-rising Spanish Sci-Fi tech death prodigies are telling a dystopian cosmic story with lyrics and music joined into an overarching concept. Its intense brutality, dissonant dynamic riffing, and tremendous heaviness combined with an amazing futuristic concept, which introduced the character Krighsu – last human in the cosmos, harvested top reviews and saw Wormed headlining in the US and co-headlining in Europe.

In the summer of 2019, Wormed brought their ultra-technical cosmic sonic onslaught to new heights on their 4-track EP ‘Metaportal’, released through Season of Mist. Praised as a monstrously satisfying addition to their catalogue, the EP bridged the gap between their previously released 2016 ‘Krighsu’ and their newest project. Atmospheric yet faithful to the skull-crushing mindboggling textures they’ve given fans over the years, ‘Metaportal’ allowed Wormed to come to terms with the loss of Guillermo Calero in 2018 and move forward.

On ‘Omegon’, Wormed’s upcoming 2024 release, they continue the story of Krigshu, a timeline hacker entangled in manipulation by cosmic forces. As viciously as the aggression they bring on their technically impressive instruments, Krigshu battles his way to unlock the mysteries of Omegon, a mysterious cosmic substance holding ultimate power. With 9 tracks of ultimate interstellar chaos, a story unfolds and Wormed prove yet again that they reign supreme on the technical death metal genre.
