Dark Affliction, the enigmatic Greek pioneers of atmospheric black metal, have emerged as a beacon of defiance in an era dominated by conformity. To ensure the essence of this magnum opus is fully realized, Theogonia Records, in collaboration with Mono Records store in Patras, Greece, has opted to release “Five Stages of Grief” exclusively in black vinyl LP and digital formats. Recognizing the brooding atmosphere and ethereal nuances of Dark Affliction‘s music, the label ensures the ultimate listening experience.

Joining Panagiotis Christias are masterful guest musicians such as Eleni Nota on drums, Nikos Mavridis on violin, Anastasia Kiritsi on vocals, and Sakis Bastas on piano, further elevating “Five Stages of Grief” to sonic transcendence.

Lyrics, crafted by Anastasia Kalampalika, add depth to this dark symphony, while the album’s visual identity, including cover art by Khaos Diktator Design (Gaerea, Lock Up, Nordjevel) and meticulous layout and design by Graphic no Jutsu (Gatekeeper, Nightrage), captures the band’s enigmatic presence.

Recorded and mixed at NoiseBox studio in Patras and mastered by John Milionis (Death Courier, Fuel Eater), “Five Stages of Grief” promises to be a symphony of darkness and light, despair and redemption – a testament to the unwavering dedication of Dark Affliction.

DAEDRIC Releases “Mortal Deluxe” Album, Out Now

If you thought Daedric’s release of Mortal was complete back in August of 2023, strap in. The ride is about to get a rocky. Daedric has released their Mortal Deluxe and it’s now available across all DSPs from FiXT.

“Mortal Deluxe is the final quest. An immense experience the listener deserves and a rousing conclusion to my debut installment” says  Daedric.

While the original was a full blown high octane ride the deluxe edition adds electrifying remixes from both SWARM, known for his dark EDM, and Voicians, known for his Drum & Bass Rock creations, as well as an electrifying reimagined version of “Only.”
“I’m very grateful to SWARM and Voicians for their incredible remixes of ‘Alchemy’ and ‘Coldharbour,'” explains Daedric. “I really feel that it completes my vision for “Mortal” as a full-spectrum musical journey. From Metal, Electronic, Pop and Rock. It’s all there.”

Singles from the album have already gained traction across multiple platforms including Spotify features on multiple official playlists, such as: All New Metal, New Blood, Heavy Queens, Epic & Melodic, Industrial Metal, The Core, Alternative Metal, Kickass Metal, Rock Hard, All New Rock, Progressive Metal, misfits 2.0 and more. Other notable editorial support has been seen from VEVO across Rock and Metal music video playlists on VEVO’s YouTube & App playlists as well as VEVO’s linear TV programming channels. The project has also quickly resonated with an international audience with strong support from the Eastern Europe platforms VK and Yandex supporting multiple tracks across the platform’s respective rock and metal playlists.

Listen to ‘Coldharbour‘ (Voicians remix):

The Texas-based metal venture Daedric‘s original debut album Mortal was a feral offering to the altar of Electronic Metal. From the triumphant entry of “Wretched” the band burst onto the scene with a stunning vocal performance from from Hope in their alluring music video for the debut single. “Wretched” set the stage for their next singles, the alluring yet brutal “Sepulchre” and the heavy industrial  “Dawnbreaker” each with their own accompanying music video setting the tone and quality the band wanted to share. The album was produced by Geoff Rockwell (Memphis May Fire, Crown the Empire) and Clay Schroeder, with all but “Wretched” being mixed by renowned mixer Joey Sturgis, also known for his work with Of Mice & Men, Asking Alexandria, and We Came As Romans.

Whether you’re an Elder Scrolls fan or just a music lover, Daedric leads you on a quest of apparent destiny with music that ranges from unrelenting breakdowns, incorporating hypnotic beats and cinematic transitions, coupled with vocals that range from ethereal to brutal, savage to soulful. The album performs a delicate dance between ethereal and ominous, delicate and harsh building up to new heights with each new single Mortal encapsulates the human condition in its entirety. We are flawed, we are brief, but we are vital.

Daedric has collaborated with labelmates Celldweller, Fight The Fade, Andromida, Void Chapter, and Kaixo for a gamut of well received singles that have also pulled in more fans across the world. After dropping a variety of singles, music videos, and collaborations Daedric has amassed over 300K followers across all platforms, scored mentions on Louder Sound, Punk Rocker, Metal Hammer, and Metal Injection. They’ve also gained notoriety on the Daedric Official Tik Tok Account covering the hit single “This Is Halloween,” and Daedric’s track “Abandon,” a collaborative effort with Andromida, found its way into the spotlight when Ubisoft chose it for inclusion in a promotional trailer for Rainbow Six Siege.

Upon Daedric‘s inception in Late 2020, they had a goal to create a dark Synthwave project that established a modern fantasy element that was lacking across the dystopian-filled genre. With Geoff’s captivating production, Clay’s syncopated riffs and Kristyn’s hypnotic vocal delivery, “Wretched” was forged and set forth an inevitable sound. More importantly, it opened the doors for true exploration. Over the next year Daedric would expand their writing across multiple genres, blending metal drums and industrial grooves with an amalgamation of synth, guitar and orchestration, all leading to a diverse soundscape to showcase Kristyn’s immense vocal range.

Daedric explains, “Our goal was to create something unique and captivating, yet grounded in raw human emotion and I truly believe we accomplished that.” Mortal is not a predictable journey, much like the quests of Skyrim and Oblivion, it is bound by a fatal pulse. We are truly alive. We are ‘Mortal.'”

LOCK HORNS Release First Single + Video ‘The Golden Mean’ from Upcoming Album

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: LOCK HORNS. Leave a comment

Northern Irish metallers, Lock Horns have been busy working on the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Molon Labe’ opus, and are finally ready to reveal details of their fierce new studio LP, ‘Red Room, which is due for release on May 31st, via The Distortion Project and Code 7 Distribution.

As the expression goes; “Good things take time, but great things take longer”…
This is very much the case with Belfast Progressive Metal four-piece, Lock Horns, who have emerged from the depths of an intensive creative period with an album that stretches the bands creative horizon to new levels of intensity and unbridled passion.

Recorded in late 2022, ‘Red Room‘ went through a process of evolution, from as far back as late 2019/early 2020, before the global pandemic forced the world into somewhat of a dystopian nightmare. By the time the world opened up again, Lock Horns found themselves in possession of material that was now three years old, and not a reflection of who they had become in a post Covid world.

The introduction of an 8-string guitar had drastically changed the bands creative potential, and a decision was made to wipe their creative slate clean, and embrace the rich vein to which they had stumbled upon.
It was at this point, when ‘Red Room‘ was born.

Speaking of the new album, guitarist Junior Afrifa says; “Boundaries were pushed on this album, sonically and physically from a playing perspective. I truly believe this a seven-track album that is most definitely, ‘all killer and no filler’, as well as being  full of unique songs that take an unexpected turn at every corner.”
He continues; “From seven-minute chaotic riffs, to three minutes of polyrhythmic nightmares, this album is the brainchild of all four of us, and we’re all immensely proud of what we’ve created. Trust me when I say,   it’ll be well worth the wait.”

Speaking of the album cover artwork he says: “The album’s overall theme is ‘Control’ and the struggle it brings. The control over someone else, yourself or the entire population and or the complete opposite which is no control thus anarchy.”

With a scheduled release date of May 31st (via The Distortion Project label and Code 7 Distribution), ‘Red Room’ features seven earth-shattering cuts of premium Progressive Metal, loaded with exceptional musicianship and punishing brutality.

LOCK HORNS released the first new single, ‘The Golden Mean‘ on March 22nd, order links here.

‘Red Room’ track-listing:
The Origin of Evil Impulses
Rust
Skin and Bones
Lab Rat
Impression of a Dream

DORIAN SORRIAUX Tackles Substance Abuse And Mental Illness on New Track ‘Just a Little More’

Former Blues Pills songwriter/guitarist DORIAN SORRIAUX tackles substance abuse and mental illness on new folk rock track “Just a Little More”.

Stream the single

Dorian Sorriaux will release his upcoming album “Children of the Moon” later this year on The Sign Records. Best known for being the lead guitarist of Blues Pills for 6 years, Dorian has toured extensively all around Europe and Australia with Blue Pills playing some of the biggest European Festivals like Rock Am Ring, Hellfest, Download, Rock Werchter, Wacken, Roskilde, Sweden Rock, and opening for bands such as Deep Purple, John Fogerty, Rival Sons, and Europe. He released several EP’s, two studio albums and two live albums before leaving the band in 2018. Now focusing on his solo project, Dorian creates beautiful singer-songwriter and psychedelic folk music inspired by the artists of the 60s and 70s, such as Neil Young, Nick Drake, and Van Morrison.

“Just a Little More” is the third single leading up to Dorian’s new album “Children of the Moon”. An emotional track tackling the issues of abuse and mental illness, the single is available on all streaming platforms from the 22st of March.

Dorian comments:
When I wrote this song I showed it to a friend of mine that really liked it, he passed away some months later and the meaning of this song became more clear. It’s a song about mental illness and substance abuse and despite the dark theme in the lyrics, it is an uplifting song of hope for anyone struggling with these issues. The song is accompanied by backing vocals, mellotron and percussions.

Many young players look to the guitar heroes of the 60s and 70s for inspiration, but very few are able to channel their influences as mesmerizingly as Dorian Sorriaux. When the young French guitarist burst onto the scene with rockers Blues Pills, he displayed an incredible maturity and expressiveness as a musician that was captured on their 2014 self-titled debut. Comparisons with legendary bluesmen Peter Green and Paul Kossoff weren’t hyperbole; you could hear their quality in Dorian’s playing touch. Following the success of Blues Pills’ second album Lady In Gold (2016), Dorian Sorriaux revealed surprising new depths to his talent as a singer / songwriter with his debut solo EP Hungry Ghost. The EP received wonderful reviews and allowed Dorian to tour all over Europe as a solo act opening for Myles Kennedy. He now reveals a much more personal style of music and songwriting with his upcoming record Children of the Moon coming out in 2024 on The Sign Records.

Extreme metal force MASS PUNISHMENT proudly unveils their official music video for the powerful track “Godless America,” extracted from their highly anticipated album “Proving Grounds, Vol.1,” set to be unleashed via Wormholedeath.

This song is a visceral reaction to the nightmare of chaos and division that has gripped the United States to its very core. From the harrowing events of September 11, 2001, and the subsequent wars, to the tumultuous lockdowns, protests, and riots, compounded by economic turmoil and faltering leadership, all exacerbated by a corrupt government teetering on the edge of civil unrest. Directed by the band’s vocalist, Erick Laurino, this marks their second music video endeavor. Expertly blending visually striking scenes of real-life events with a compelling performance by band members Erick Laurino and Christopher Milos, this production is guaranteed to mesmerize viewers and ignite a call for change.

Mass Punishment is a 4 piece Metalcore/Extreme Metal band based out of New Jersey music designed to inform as well as hit as hard as the facts and events the songs are written about. Current events on a social, political, environmental, and economic scale. Of government corruption and depopulation with a population facing death by design.

A unique fusion of influences from iconic bands like Pantera, Slayer, Fear Factory, Megadeth, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Korn, Misery Signals, Emmure, Slipknot, Rush, and Soulfly, Mass Punishment delivers a sound that is both powerful and evocative.

Mass Punishment is:

Erick Laurino (Vocals)
Christopher Milos (Guitars)
Scott Ferguson (Bass)
Brian Donat (Drums)

About BELUSHI SPEED BALL:

Belushi Speed Ball is a Kentucky-based band founded in 2013 as a studio project amongst friends with a penchant for cliché crossover thrash. Their first live performances came soon after, enthralling a rapidly growing fanbase with a uniquely interactive brand of theatrics and unorthodox approach to releases and merch.

Dubbed “one of the funniest fucking things I have heard this year” by The Needle Drop’s Anthony Fantano, Belushi Speed Ball are inspired by bands from Toxic Holocaust and Anthrax to Gwar and Municipal Waste, to whom they simultaneously play homage and satirize a mean comment from a fan in their song “Ripping off Municipal Waste”, which was voted one of Leo Magazine’s top 20 songs of 2022. With a reputation for both trashing venues and meticulously cleaning them up after each individually themed performance, Belushi Speed Ball are masters of executing the unthinkable.  From playing out of a Mad Max-esque moving van and starting Terminator-inspired 300-person Nerf gun fights to releasing entire albums in N64… or Furby… formats, nothing is sacred as they continue evolving as, in the words of Metalsucks, “a freakshow of blistering thrash dedicated to laughing its ass off at blistering thrash.”

This year, Belushi Speedball are readier than ever to keep that momentum going, with yet another album mastered to perfection by Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust, as well as a host of festival appearances, tours, and merch set to drop over the months to come.
