HOUR OF PENANCE Premiere New Single & Video ‘Devotion for Tyranny’

Italy’s brutal tech-death ensemble HOUR OF PENANCE premieres the first single & opening track “Devotion for Tyranny”, from its forthcoming album “Devotion”, which is set for release on April 5th via Agonia Records. The single is available in the form of a music video, below.

“We chose ‘Devotion for Tyranny’ as the first single because it’s probably the most straightforward and uncompromising song on the album, and it perfectly represents the main themes of the album,” HOUR OF PENANCE posits. “This animated video is heavily inspired by the mysterious atmospheres of Soulslike games and the hooded man represents the revolutionary vanguard that overthrows the established order based on wealth and oppression, that has left the Earth a barren and sterile land for a deformed and enslaved humanity to live in. The visual references to the elements of the alchemical process are a metaphor for the transformative power of the human will. It’s a dystopic vision of a not-so-distant future and a warning.”

The upcoming album – follow-up to 2019’s “Misotheism” – comprises long-standing members Giulio Moschini (guitars), Paolo Pieri (vocals & guitars) and Marco Mastrobuono (bass), alongside young blood, Giacomo Torti (drums). It was recorded at Bloom Studio and Kick Studio in Italy, with mixing and mastering handled at famed Hertz Studio (Vader, Decapitated, Behemoth) in Poland.

“Devotion is our anthem to the futility of war, with no light at the end of the tunnel,” the band comments. “The main theme of the album is the misguided devotion which we, the people, give to our leaders, who mercilessly send us to our deaths under the pretense of democracy; while being guided only by imperialist ambitions and greed. The faceless crowd of the artwork stands in worship of these deformed statues of false deities. Musically, the album builds on the 20-year-old, fast-paced trademark style of Hour of Penance, and enhances it with more technicality and catchiness, interspersed with epic landscapes.”

HOUR OF PENANCE has been consistent in crafting their sonic identity through a brand of complex, crushing and surgical death metal, which made them stand out as one of the most intense and talented representatives of the genre. Whilst tailored for hyper speeds and untamed brutality, the group doesn’t shy away from perceptive social metaphors in their dark imaginary and lyrics. Their energetic live show has led them to Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and Asia, touring with the likes of Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Devildriver, Deicide, Nile or Behemoth.

MERRIMACK Stream New Album “Of Grace and Gravity”, Out Today

Merrimack are gracing the sphere of black metal with their darkest, fastest and most ambitious album yet. Of Grace and Gravity blurs the line between sacrilege and sanctity with fierce guitars, thunderous drums and howling vitriol.

Of Grace and Gravity is released today, Friday, March 8 and streaming on Black Metal Promotion’s YouTube channel.

Order at https://redirect.season-of-mist.com/MerrimackGraceGravit

With a foundation deeply rooted in the genre’s unyielding soil, Of Grace and Gravity is a testament to Merrimack’s dedication to the art of black metal. From a cosmic abyss, the album spins a gripping narrative of heresy and rebellion.

Wallowing riffs and blast beats collide with hypnotized pangs of dissonance on lead single “Sulphurean Synods”. Vestal’s vocals spread like toxic fumes over “Dead and Distant Clamors”, which unfolds like a dark and depressive waltz.

Track-list
1. Sulphurean Synods (6:42) [WATCH]
2. Sublunar Despondency (7:07)
3. Dead and Distant Clamors (5:35) [LISTEN]
4. Wounds that Heal (6:44)
5. Starving Crowns (8:05)
6. Under the Aimless Spheres (7:01) [LISTEN]
7. Embalmer’s Wine (6:59)
Total: 48:13

MERRIMACK are back with their new album ‘Of Grace and Gravity’. Their third release for Season of Mist arrives after the re-print of their long sold-out debut ‘Ashes of Purification’, which followed the sizeable impact that their last album, ‘Omegaphilia’, had on the Black Metal Scene.

MERRIMACK can be categorised as extreme traditionalists that are driven by a burning desire to hone their skills and striving to bring their art to perfection. The band was founded by guitarist Perversifier a.k.a. Amfortas in 1994 with a clear vision to keep the black metal flame burning as an act of aesthetic terrorism – as adamantly based in the underground as opposed to any attempts to co-opt, commercialise or turn the style into a self-parody. Introduced by a number of demo recordings (‘Prologue’ – 1995, ‘Act 1’ – 1995, ‘Horns Defeat Thorns’ – 2001) and split releases (with Hirilorn in 1998 and Sargeist in 2002), the French gained respect in the scene by remaining true to their words.

Although MERRIMACK decided to reach out to a larger audience with the release of their first full-length ‘Ashes of Purification’, the Parisians did not sever their roots with the underground at any time. With the following albums, ‘Of Entropy and Life Denial’ (2006) and ‘Grey Rigorism’ (2009), MERRIMACK closed ranks with the most influential, active, and authentic acts of the French black metal scene. Their classic combination of harsh sound with epic structures appealed to critics and fans alike and put the band on their celebrated first US tour with MARDUK and NACHTMYSTIUM in 2009.

After recording ‘The Acausal Mass’ (2012) in the legendary Necromorbus Studio (WATAIN, DESTRÖYER 666) again, MERRIMACK embarked on a European tour with Norwegian icons MAYHEM and accepted invitations to prestigious festivals such as Hellfest in their native France, Germany’s Party-San Open Air and Summer Breeze as well as Montreal’s Messe des Morts in Canada. With their previous album, ‘Omegaphilia’, MERRIMACK were breathing fresh life into an exhausted genre. While ignoring epithets such as progressive, post-, and avant-garde, the French focused on razor-sharp songwriting, captivating melodies, and close to perfect arrangements.

The ensemble now presents their latest album ‘Of Grace and Gravity’, an aural journey where grotesque assemblies of roosters and goats languish at the foot of heavens. Wallowing guitars and hypnotized passages of blasting drums collide with gravity-bound atoms in oblivious occlusion. MERRIMACK, in their enigmatic mastery, expose the futility of belief in occult ministries and slashes at the mask of the sky. The listener, questioned in their faith of the shadows and occult idols. Dare believe in the sulfurous whispers echoing through this blackened masterpiece.

LOST ZONE Premiere Lyric Video for New Single ‘Foreshadowing’, Feat. BLUTHUND

April 5, 2024 sees rock trio LOST ZONE release their much-awaited, new album “Ordinary Misery” via Drakkar Entertainment. The band’s sophomore studio offering is available for pre-order at  https://lostzone.bfan.link/ordinary-misery

With “Fighting Demons” and just recently, “Can’t keep running”, the South Tyrolean upstarters LOTS ZONE have already shared some tasty appetizers in support of their upcoming record release, where heavy guitar riffage meets hardstyle kicks, catchy vocals and memorable synth melodies, emphazising the band’s modern and electronic vibes. Now, the trio has unleashed a new lyric video for their latest single “Foreshadowing”, featuring Berlin-based rap punk act BLUTHUND!

Says LOST ZONE singer and guitarist Florian about the new single:
“’Foreshadowing’ is against hate and bullying on the internet! Braxi, singer of Bluthund, takes on the role of an angry German citizen who spreads hate on the net. A situation that is unfortunately often encountered these days. With this song we would like to draw attention to this topic and ask people not to behave like this. On the contrary, we should all become part of the solution!”

“Foreshadowing” (feat. Bluthund)” is out now on all digital streaming services at https://lostzone.bfan.link/foreshadowing, watch the lyric video now premiering here:

Ever since LOST ZONE debuted with their first EP, followed by Resilience in March 2022, the band quickly took the rock scene by storm band with a musical blend that has never been an easy task as they include influences from rock, core but also pop elements into their sound. Balancing between brutal, mean riffs and heavy beats, heartfelt ballads, a cover of Linkin Park’s In The End (with more than a half milion views to date), between alternative rock, metal core to almost covering the musical spectrum in its entirety, subtle similarities to Bring Me The Horizon, 30 Seconds To Mars and Linkin Park could be noticed. As Florian once said: „It’s impossible to fully hide our influences, but we do our very own thing.“ This is underlined by the fact that the Italian three-piece entirely writes, records and produces their music themselves and in their own studio, the Lost Zone Productions, that they built in 2017. Their upcoming, sophomore studio offering “Ordinary Misery” – due out on April 5, 2024 – will make no exception, while even doubling-down all expectations! Pre-order the album HERE!

Tracklist:

  1. Fighting Demons
  2. Shadow of my Memory
  3. All Again (feat. Philip From Fall to Spring)
  4. Can’t keep running (feat. Dystropia)
  5. Devil in Disguise
  6. You’re the one
  7. Out of my mind
  8. Voices (LZ Version)
  9. Hold me Tight
  10. Foreshadowing (feat. Bluthund)
  11. Where will this end?
  12. Nothing but a Dream

STRIDENT Release New Video ‘Paranoia of the Tyrant’ from Homonymous Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 8, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: STRIDENT. Leave a comment

Israeli Thrash Metal machine STRIDENT have released a new video for ‘Paranoia of the Tyrant’ taken from their homonymous album.

Israeli Thrash Metal machine, Strident is heavily armed with old school riffs and the 80s vibe, having been influenced by the German Thrash scene (Sodom, Destruction and Tankard), as well as the American scene (Slayer, Megadeth and Exodus) while also having its roots deep in the high-energy rock-and-roll of Motorhead.

Since its inception in 2005, Strident has had three full-length studio albums and a huge number of live performances. The band’s debut LP entitled “On the Aim” came out in 2010 after which the band went on a semi-hiatus for almost a decade due to numerous lineup changes, but nevertheless Strident remained an active band playing big shows: opening for Overkill and Nervosa, to name a few. The second record, “March of Plague”, was released in 2019 through the Italian label “Punishment 18 Records”. It has a solid modern sound and it has been selling all over the world.

In 2020, the line-up changed again, this time the original guitarist Michael Shlyapochny became also the frontman while Yaniv Alkalay, Andrey Galchevski, Artyom Apekishev took over lead guitar, drums and bass respectively. With this line-up, the band went on 3 European tours (with Necronomicon, Archaic and Jet Jaguar) and released the third album, “Paranoia of the Tyrant”, which has received great praise both in live shows and in media spheres.

Strident has its own crushing energy, authentic style and tight live performance, exactly what people are looking for in this style of music.

HIGHSOCIETY and Protect Your Heart have united to produce a double header with “Ghosts.” The new release arrives in two forms, rock and DATAMOSHED.

Purchase/Stream: https://link.fixtmusic.com/ghosts

Brimming with raw energy the post-punk and rock track seamlessly blends HIGHSOCIETY’s rock and metal EDM with the rock and post punk talents of Protect Your Heart. Featuring a vocal performance that ranges from soulful to brutal from Protect Your Heart layered through thrashing guitars and heavy rhythms

In their own words Protect Your Heart goes on to explain, “’Ghosts’ was a musical experiment; a creative adventure that Protect Your Heart and HIGHSOCIETY embarked on in an effort to celebrate their longtime musical friendship and decades-long collaboration. Fusing HIGHSOCIETY’s signature electronic sounds into their pop-punk/post-hardcore universe, Protect Your Heart wrote, recorded, and produced their genre-fluid take on the two-part ‘Ghosts’ release, resulting in a brand new sound for the band, and one that blends their EDM past into their pop-punk and post-hardcore present like never before.”

HIGHSOCIETY adds, “‘Ghosts’ is the culmination of a decade-long creative kinship between myself and the incredible talents of Protect Your Heart. As we evolved from our electronic roots in heavy bass music to embrace a more rock-focused sound, this track represents the perfect fusion of our individual journeys. “Ghosts” is our genre-defying celebration of the awesome musical history we’ve built together.”

Watch both versions:

The second part of the release “Ghosts” (DATAMOSHED) features HIGHSOCIETY’s signature blend of rock, metal, and EDM. Featuring Protect Your Heart’s brutal vocal performance wrapped around in a fierce drum and bass trappings HIGHSOCIETY dials the notch up to one hundred. “Ghosts” (DATAMOSHED) is an explosive collaboration featuring the best of both artists united.

With this collaboration, HIGHSOCIETY continues to expand his hybrid rock/EDM “DATAMOSH” world, following a string of original and remix collaborations with the likes of Escape The Fate, Attack Attack!,  Micah Martin, Young Medicine, Becko and now Protect Your Heart. #datamoshforlife

The ascending bass music talent that is known as HIGHSOCIETY has been on a rapid rise as of late, thanks to his addictive blend of stadium-crushing future bass, metallurgic dubstep, and blazing trap. With a seemingly endless torrent of releases across standout labels from FiXT, Barong Family, and Universal Music, to Red Bull Records and Lowly Palace/Trap Nation, HIGHSOCIETY has firmly established himself as one of the most exciting new acts in electronic music.

Protect Your Heart is a DIY, Los Angeles-based five-piece known for their take on heavy pop-punk and easycore—or as they affectionately refer to it, “pop punk with breakdowns.”

Comprised of members Matty McDonald, Jake Bratrude, Anthony Palazzole, Mauricio Prado, and Kean Bartelman, Protect Your Heart has earned a reputation for radio-ready hooks, genre-agnostic songwriting, and big, booming breakdowns, culminating in a sound that is uniquely their own.

Following the release of their independent debut LP “[re]introduction” in the fall of 2022, Protect Your Heart experienced a number of “firsts” in 2023—selling out their first headline show at the infamous Viper Room in Los Angeles, embarking on their first-ever headline tour, “The Gone Forever Tour,” and launching three new singles, music videos, and the band’s flagship apparel line.

As Protect Your Heart looks to continue their upward trajectory and pushes forward in 2024, fans can expect a bevy of new sounds, new singles, and unexpected collaborations as the group remains focused on refining their sound and pushing PYH forward through their relentlessly determined DIY attitude.
