Israeli Thrash Metal machine STRIDENT have released a new video for ‘Paranoia of the Tyrant’ taken from their homonymous album.
Israeli Thrash Metal machine, Strident is heavily armed with old school riffs and the 80s vibe, having been influenced by the German Thrash scene (Sodom, Destruction and Tankard), as well as the American scene (Slayer, Megadeth and Exodus) while also having its roots deep in the high-energy rock-and-roll of Motorhead.
Since its inception in 2005, Strident has had three full-length studio albums and a huge number of live performances. The band’s debut LP entitled “On the Aim” came out in 2010 after which the band went on a semi-hiatus for almost a decade due to numerous lineup changes, but nevertheless Strident remained an active band playing big shows: opening for Overkill and Nervosa, to name a few. The second record, “March of Plague”, was released in 2019 through the Italian label “Punishment 18 Records”. It has a solid modern sound and it has been selling all over the world.
In 2020, the line-up changed again, this time the original guitarist Michael Shlyapochny became also the frontman while Yaniv Alkalay, Andrey Galchevski, Artyom Apekishev took over lead guitar, drums and bass respectively. With this line-up, the band went on 3 European tours (with Necronomicon, Archaic and Jet Jaguar) and released the third album, “Paranoia of the Tyrant”, which has received great praise both in live shows and in media spheres.
Strident has its own crushing energy, authentic style and tight live performance, exactly what people are looking for in this style of music.
Brimming with raw energy the post-punk and rock track seamlessly blends HIGHSOCIETY’s rock and metal EDM with the rock and post punk talents of Protect Your Heart. Featuring a vocal performance that ranges from soulful to brutal from Protect Your Heart layered through thrashing guitars and heavy rhythms
In their own words Protect Your Heart goes on to explain, “’Ghosts’ was a musical experiment; a creative adventure that Protect Your Heart and HIGHSOCIETY embarked on in an effort to celebrate their longtime musical friendship and decades-long collaboration. Fusing HIGHSOCIETY’s signature electronic sounds into their pop-punk/post-hardcore universe, Protect Your Heart wrote, recorded, and produced their genre-fluid take on the two-part ‘Ghosts’ release, resulting in a brand new sound for the band, and one that blends their EDM past into their pop-punk and post-hardcore present like never before.”
HIGHSOCIETY adds, “‘Ghosts’ is the culmination of a decade-long creative kinship between myself and the incredible talents of Protect Your Heart. As we evolved from our electronic roots in heavy bass music to embrace a more rock-focused sound, this track represents the perfect fusion of our individual journeys. “Ghosts” is our genre-defying celebration of the awesome musical history we’ve built together.”
Watch both versions:
The second part of the release “Ghosts” (DATAMOSHED) features HIGHSOCIETY’s signature blend of rock, metal, and EDM. Featuring Protect Your Heart’s brutal vocal performance wrapped around in a fierce drum and bass trappings HIGHSOCIETY dials the notch up to one hundred. “Ghosts” (DATAMOSHED) is an explosive collaboration featuring the best of both artists united.
With this collaboration, HIGHSOCIETY continues to expand his hybrid rock/EDM “DATAMOSH” world, following a string of original and remix collaborations with the likes of Escape The Fate, Attack Attack!, Micah Martin, Young Medicine, Becko and now Protect Your Heart. #datamoshforlife
The ascending bass music talent that is known as HIGHSOCIETY has been on a rapid rise as of late, thanks to his addictive blend of stadium-crushing future bass, metallurgic dubstep, and blazing trap. With a seemingly endless torrent of releases across standout labels from FiXT, Barong Family, and Universal Music, to Red Bull Records and Lowly Palace/Trap Nation, HIGHSOCIETY has firmly established himself as one of the most exciting new acts in electronic music.
Protect Your Heart is a DIY, Los Angeles-based five-piece known for their take on heavy pop-punk and easycore—or as they affectionately refer to it, “pop punk with breakdowns.”
Comprised of members Matty McDonald, Jake Bratrude, Anthony Palazzole, Mauricio Prado, and Kean Bartelman, Protect Your Heart has earned a reputation for radio-ready hooks, genre-agnostic songwriting, and big, booming breakdowns, culminating in a sound that is uniquely their own.
Following the release of their independent debut LP “[re]introduction” in the fall of 2022, Protect Your Heart experienced a number of “firsts” in 2023—selling out their first headline show at the infamous Viper Room in Los Angeles, embarking on their first-ever headline tour, “The Gone Forever Tour,” and launching three new singles, music videos, and the band’s flagship apparel line.
As Protect Your Heart looks to continue their upward trajectory and pushes forward in 2024, fans can expect a bevy of new sounds, new singles, and unexpected collaborations as the group remains focused on refining their sound and pushing PYH forward through their relentlessly determined DIY attitude.
Southern Rockers 13South drop new single “Reckless.” Coming from the backwoods of Magnolia, MS, 13South have been described as “If Lynyrd Skynyrd and Junkyard had a baby.” These Hard Southern Rockers have dredged through adversity and the windfalls of life to bring you songs that are fun and rebellious renderings of the lifestyle and mystique of this band.
“’Reckless’ is a short interpretation of my life. I went from a partying misfit to meeting the woman I would fall in love with and spend the rest of my life with. I know a lot of people will relate to this song,” said 13South founder Chris Blevins.
From JACK RUSSELL (Jack Russell’s GREAT WHITE),“Reckless is a rocking great song, and I would expect nothing less from my dear friend, Blevins.”
From ANTHONY CORDER (TORA TORA),“This song reminds me of an intimate jam on the front porch. Acoustic groove reminiscing of mid-America gratefulness and taking nothing for granted.”
13South are signed to G4L Records. They debuted with their hit single “Mississippi Way” which was nominated for “ROCK SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR” at the 9th Annual JOSIE MUSIC AWARDS at the legendary Grand Ole Opry.
With his previous band Voodoo13, Blevins has toured all over the Southeast and then some having shared the stage with greats such as: Junkyard, Jackyl, Better Than Ezra, Warrant, Great White, John Corabi, Candlebox, Trixter, Blacktop Mojo, Them Dirty Roses, The Nixons, Adelitas Way, Wicked Wisdom, Buck Cherry, Faster Pussycat, Naked Beggars, Rehab, Sponge, Alice In Chains, Josh Todd Band, Black Stone Cherry, Ra, and Powerman 5000.
Following the success of their previous two new singles “Devil Teasin’ Me” and “The Way I Am,” Canadian roots and rock band The Commoners are pleased to announce the Friday 8thMarch release of “Too Soon To Know You” – the third single taken from their highly anticipated third studio album, Restless. Released by Gypsy Soul Records on Friday 21 June 2024, the new album is available to pre-order at www.thecommoners.ca/store.
Following their critically acclaimed 2022 sophomore album Find A Better Way, the Canadian roots rock quintet continue their dedicated musical journey to provide listeners with a hearty dose of Southern-style swagger accentuated with slide guitar, organ swell, and heartfelt vocals.
“Too Soon to Know You” is available today, March 8, 2024, across all major streaming platforms, and promises to be a sonic testament to The Commoners’ evolving musical journey. The single is available to stream HERE.
Lively organ and crisp guitar support a soaring top line in this reflective track that wonders what might have been. Stirred by nostalgia, singer Chris Medhurst reminisces about a bond broken by time, offering a listen that will surely inspire a trip down memory lane. “Too Soon To Know You” will stick in your head for several days.
Having wrapped up a bustling 2023 filled with recording sessions and a UK tour alongside Grammy-nominated duo Samantha Fish and Jesse Dayton, The Commoners have solidified their position as a must-watch act.
The release of Restless will mark the quintet’s return to the road in 2024, with numerous festivals in the UK and EU, including Made of Stone, Steelhouse, and Moulin Blues Festivals, already scheduled for this summer. From the speakers to the stage, one thing is certain: The Commoners are spearheading a party rock renaissance, and the audience is cordially invited.
Combined with Ross Hayes Citrullo’s infectious guitar riffs, the new single delivers a song of quality and distinction. It’s the perfect follow-up to the previous singles, “Devil Teasin’ Me” and “The Way I Am.” “Devil Teasin’ Me” proved a popular staple on UK rock radio, with a 10-week run and over 100 spins on Planet Rock.
A natural evolution from their 2022 album Find A Better Way, the forthcoming album Restless offers a peek behind the curtain of success, revealing the gruelling routines and ragged emotions that hide behind the glamorous aesthetic of a rock band on the rise. With introspective, slower-tempo numbers pocketed amongst rip-roaring anthems, the new album, recorded at RHC Music in Toronto, is a portrait of a hardworking group revitalizing a classic genre.
“As with our previous album, we wanted to marry old and new southern rock together in a way that was unique to the band’s Canadian roots,” says the Commoners guitarist and producer Ross Hayes Citrullo. “By adding the soul and rock elements of The Black Crowes, and the southern blues rock undertones of The Allman Brothers to a production style akin to Blackberry Smoke and Rival Sons, I think we developed an authentic sound that compares sonically to some of our favourite records across all of those music genres.”

TRACK BY TRACK
Devil Teasin’ Me – A bonafide banger with anthemic group vocals and electric riffs, “Devil Teasin’ Me” captures self-reckoning wrapped up in rock ’n’ roll. Lush background voices lend heat to the chorus, supporting Medhurst through a feverish performance.
Shake You Off – Gutsy guitar and driving percussion push “Shake You Off” from the speakers, initiating a gripping track that will have heads bobbing from start to finish. Punchy bass and searing organ pierce the arrangement, rousing listeners to a fever pitch as The Commoners attempt to break loose from restraints.
The Way I Am – A rowdy riff catapults The Commoners into “The Way I Am”, joined by kick drum thuds that strike the chest, immersing the listener in a track made for stadiums. Tension builds into an infectious chorus spiked with vocal support by Sandra Bouza. A guaranteed hit, “The Way I Am” sees The Commoners united in conviction, playing with the confidence of a band that knows exactly who they are.
Restless – Delicate picks and strums open “Restless”, lending a subtle Celtic feel to the track which evolves into a flourishing arrangement with piano and harmonic guitar accents. Within “Restless”, The Commoners unpack life on the road, folding the struggle and discomfort of pursuing a dream into a show-stopping number.
Gone Without Warning – A gritty riff puts fire under “Gone Without Warning”, launching The Commoners into a track that boils over with tension. Featuring a heavy hitting chorus with soulful backing vocals by Chantal Williams, the track is further elevated by the combined voices of bassist Ben Spiller and drummer Adam Cannon.
Who Are You (Ain’t Knocked Down) – Crunchy guitar cuts through the speakers, accented by stark percussion, and piano in this true party rock anthem. Certain to raise listeners to their feet, “Who Are You” features peppy organ alongside call and response vocals that kick this confrontational track into overdrive.
Body And Soul – Ambient slide guitar and viscous drones set the tone for a smoky and sultry number with a masterful arrangement that goes down smooth. Throbbing with rhythmic bass and percussion, “Body And Soul” traps The Commoners in a tangle of temptation.
See You Again – A true roots-rocker, “See You Again” is an ode to love and loss, good times and memories made, featuring a chorus fit for kicking up dust on the backroads with the windows down. Full-bodied acoustic guitar guides this track through contemplation to celebration.
Too Soon To Know You – Lively organ and crisp guitar support a soaring top line in this reflective track that wonders what might have been. Stirred by nostalgia, singer Chris Medhurst reminisces about a bond broken by time, offering a listen that will surely inspire a trip down memory lane.
All That We Have – Resonant acoustic guitar pairs with an honest vocal performance by Chris Medhurst for a reflective, poignant track. Lyrically centered around acceptance and finding peace through life’s troubles and existential anxieties, “All That We Have” is a tender affirmation of support.
