FREDDY AND THE PHANTOMS’ New Album “Heathen Gospels” Out Now

Danish FREDDY AND THE PHANTOMS focus on big personal questions such as freedom, spirituality, betrayal and the eternal desire for power, money and carnal desire in their sixth studio album “Heathen Gospels”, out now via Target Records.

The album is a melting pot of country, blues and desert rock and their most fully-toned Americana record to date. The album offers a ride into the open landscapes with sky-high promises, while a deep desperation hides in the valleys of the mind. With these Heathen Hymns, the band focuses on big personal questions such as freedom, spirituality, betrayal and the eternal desire for power, money and carnal desires. 

“We have written the album during the autumn of 2023 and it is our most collective effort so far. Everyone has contributed to the songwriting and compositions, and we have let the songs and melodies dictate where the track should land, which has resulted in a very varied, unpolished and melodic expression that we have not explored in the same way before. In January 2023 we played in the USA for the first time, with three shows in Asbury Park, so no doubt some inspiration was brought home for this record” – states the band. 

“Heathen Gospels” was recorded in the band’s own studio in the countryside in Hornbæk on the North Coast of Sealand. The record is mixed by Knut Haavik (Hotel Hunger, Atterman etc.), who has assisted the band in bringing the cinematic qualities of the songs to life, while retaining plenty of warmth and presence in the sound. Sonically, the listener has arrived together with the band somewhere on the “Nordic Prairie” and is invited on a journey of discovery into an epic universe that stands on the shoulders of legends as The Band, Fleetwood Mac, ZZ Top and The Doors. 

“Heathen Gospels” is out today on LP (black vinyl, limited to 300 units) and digital formats via Target Records.

Rockshots Records is thrilled to announce the birth of LAY OF THE AUTUMN, a new band emerging from the creative vision of the talented Davide Scuteri.

Born from the desire to continue the musical legacy of projects like RAVENWORD and CHOIR OF VERITAS, LAY OF THE AUTUMN promises to make its mark in the symphonic metal scene.

Spearheaded by Davide Scuteri and joined by Cesare Ferrari (Bass), Davide Lovecchio (Guitars), and Michele Olmi (Drums), LAY OF THE AUTUMN embodies the essence of classic symphonic metal with a female vocalist, continuing the rich tradition established by Ravenword, following the release of their album ‘Transcendence’.

Just as a continuation of the Ravenword project, Lay Of The Autumn is a band born from the synergy between Davide Scuteri and Rockshots Records, who continue their collaboration together for an album set to see the light at the end of 2024.

The band’s first single “Si Sta Come D’Autunno Sugli Alberi Le Foglie”  underscores the full power of Lay Of The Autumn. 

As described by mastermind Davide Scuteri “this is a hermetic title. During the First World War there was a poet into the battlefield, his name was Giuseppe Ungaretti and he wrote these lines in his poetry “Soldati (Soldiers)”, as perpetual symbol of the life in the trenches. 
It’s an instrumental powerful and virtusistic song, in the style of the Stratovarius, which talks about the conflicting emotions which can live inside us, and the precarious condition of the life when the Lay of the Autumn comes”.

DISTORTED FORCE have released a new lyric video ‘Hellbroth’, taken from “Angelic Bloodshed” album. Watch it below.

Distorted Force is a band with a very weird approach to composition. Being in the substance of progressive metal implies long length tracks, unstable structure, and a lot of changes in a song’s general atmosphere. In recent years the band moves musically in the heavy/progressive area.
They started in Thessaloniki, Greece in 2008.

In the beginning of 2010 Distorted Force started their discography with a homonymous EP. A year later they released “A Dead Man’s Dream” showing obvious influences from Porcupine Tree and Anathema. The line-up changed and “Depersonalization” was out in 2012 with much heavier sound, that keeps up to date. In January 2013, “Fields in Desolation” was released, characterized by progressive metal elements which were about to increase over the next years. In December of 2014, the album “Taken by Force” paved the same progressive metal course that was carved in their previous albums. The next full-length album “Curves of Sidereal Cosmos” was the band’s first concept album and was released in May 2018, followed by flattering reviews from the music press all over the world.

Distorted Force have been performing live shows all over Greece and Europe
since 2008. On June 10th, 2023, the band released their seventh album “Angelic Bloodshed” via French Soman Records. This is considered to be the heaviest so far.

After the success of the 2022 mesmerizing debut album “Daughters Of The Night” (which mixed gothic-symphonic and power metal elements, alternating between fast & heavy neck breaking episodes and intense, piano-oriented ballads), Nocturna once again delves into the meaning of the term ‘duality’ and all its more morbid connotations.

The romantic inspiration of the lyrics of “Of Sorcery And Darkness” combines harmoniously with the band’s sophisticated sonic approach, and the celestial voices of Grace Darkling and Rehn Stillnight paint mysterious and sensual portraits of an ancestral time (yet so close to us).

Filippa Nässil Releases First Single ‘San Francisco (Swedish Version)’ from Upcoming Debut Solo Album

Filippa Nässil (founder, songwriter and guitar player in Thundermother) spent two months and three weeks in the USA touring with Thundermother in the fall of 2022 supporting the band Scorpions. On off days from playing she wrote lyrics for what came to be her upcoming debut solo album “American Diaries”, that is set for release autumn 2024. The album will contain both English and Swedish versionsof all the tracks on the album.Her first single “San Francisco (Swedish Version) is being released April 12, 2024.  

She booked the studio in Skåne, Klippan, Sweden (Lemon Recording Studio) whilst still in the States and wrote the music for the album in one month after coming home and recorded it in December 2022 and mixed it in Medley Studios march 2023 in Copenhagen.

Filippa started Thundermother 2009, she studied music production and guitar before that. In 2022 she studied in distance at London Songwriting Academy and she thanks one of her teachers Shelly Poole for pushing her to do a solo album.

About her first single “San Francisco (Swedish Version)”, and how it came to be, she had this to say: 

San Francisco is a part of my theme album “American Diares”. After two and a half months into the American tour with Thundermother supporting the Scorpions, and a month without my fiancé, he finally came to visit. We embarked on a journey to Ashbury, gazing out at the waters near Alcatraz, exploring Janis Joplin’s former residence, and strolling through the neighborhood. Our reunion was filled with deep love, stronger than ever before.“.

“American Diaries” is what it sounds like, her time in Chicago meeting her blues idol “Buddy Guy” and his family, she even got invited to his birthday party turning 86 years old. On “Buddy Guy’s Blues” she plays with his son “Greg Guy”. On “Green Fields Of Napa” she tells the story of getting accidentally high, eating food on a winery, on “Richmond, Virginia” about her favorite food mexican tacos called ‘pastor’, on “San Fransisco” when her boyfriend came to visit and the joy that brought, on “For Rudy”, she sings about her time in Texas, ending up on a night club and the new friends she made there. “Mount Shasta” is her personal favorite, high up in the mountains of north California, missing her love wishing she could share that beauty with him.“American Diaries” is a map over the USA, but in songs written, played and sung both in Swedish and English versions, by Filippa Nässil.

Filippas debut single “San Francisco (Swedish Version) is out April 12, via Despotz Records. Her debut solo album “American Diaries” is set for release in autumn 2024. The album will contain both Swedish and English versions of all the tracks on the album.
