NEÀNDER Release Brand New Acoustic EP “ir”

After releasing two critically acclaimed albums and EPs, Berlin-based doom metal collective neànder is venturing into new territory and has released its first acoustic EP, entitled “ir”, via Through Love Records. Listen to the full EP here:

“The idea of recording acoustic songs has been around for a while,” says Jan Korbach, who released his Alternative Country solo debut under the name ATEM in 2022. “During writing the ‘Concrete Americana’ album, I had the idea of recording a quieter and more intimate version of a neànder song“. Michael Zolkiewicz adds “apparently the time was right to realise this vision“. The “ir” EP was recorded for the first time entirely by the band. It was produced and mixed by guitarist Patrick Zahn: “Our aim was to create an authentic acoustic sound. We edited as little as possible and tried to capture the sound of the individual instruments as if you were standing right in front of us,” he says. The iconic cover artwork was created by drummer Sebastian Grimberg.

Tracklist:

  1. yola des goz (acoustic version)
  2. eremit (acoustic version)
  3. aas
  4. malven (acoustic version)

“ir” is out now on all major streaming platforms, with a strictly limited 12“ EP to follow in April 2024.
Pre-orders are available at THIS LOCATION.

Furthermore, in 2024 the instrumental collective, whose members were previously active in bands such as And, Patsy ‘O Hara, Earth Ship and rapper Casper’s live band, will perform at Desertfest Berlin and many other events. But then again as a fully amplified band. So keep your ears open and an eye on the band to ensure you don’t miss any news!

Norway’s wryest export BOKASSA welcomes the new year by dropping possibly their most sardonic single yet. After touring with Therapy? right up to the Christmas festivities, BOKASSA barely pauses for breath, ricocheting into 2024 with the release of bold new single “The Ending Starts Today.”

BOKASSA states:
“What better than to start 2024 with a brand new “demotivational poster” in song form? Why not accept failure already, instead of clinging on to that last bit of hope? Say no more, friend! Bokassa’s here with a rifftastic new barnburner that will fulfill all your pessimistic needs for the new year!”

Listen to the single at https://orcd.co/theending-bokassa

The track is taken from their upcoming, new album All Out Of Dreams, due out February 16th via Indie Recordings.

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen (Meshuggah, BabyMetal, Madball, Sick Of It All, The Haunted) in Antfarm Studio in Denmark in June 2022.
The band also has guest artists for the first time, in the form of Lou Koller from the NYHC legends Sick Of It All and Aaron Beam from the stoner rockers Red Fang!

BOKASSA about “All Out of Dreams”:
“All Out Of Dreams is an album where the feeling of resignation is present on several of the album’s tracks. Whether it deals with one’s own failures, maybe you feel the system failed you, perhaps because of failed government policies, or that you’ve just given up on it all.

The common denominator is that everyone you encounter, or hear from in the lyrics have lost hope, which is something the album’s title – All Out Of Dreams – alludes to.

The name of the album could also be seen as a direct reference to our own career, and the dream of owning our own private island in the Pacific. Unfortunately the masses have yet to develop good taste in music, so that dream is rather non-existent at this time.”

Finnish punkroll band UGLY PUNCH released their second single and music video Cool Sunglasses. The track is taken from their self-titled debut EP due to be released on February 22nd by Secret Entertainment.

The band comments:
” Cool Sunglasses is a more upbeat track than the previous single, which moves forward with a strong groove. (Of course!)

This song doesn’t go for the fancy stuff either, but keeps it simple but through the UGLY PUNCH filter of course.

The lyrics of the song tell it like it is.

“You may have all the superficial shit, but I’ve got something you don’t.”

You can see the content as it’s simply stated, or you can see it in more depth. Everyone can choose. But either way. It’s worth picking up this second single now, because there’s more to come! ”

UGLY PUNCH is a band with roots in groovy rock and punk music. I guess you could say a kind of “punkroll” sound with a personal touch. This gang was founded in 2023, but they all have a long history in music. Our base is a great space in the middle of the forest in Tampere.

The goal is to keep our music accessible and something that is easy to get under your feet. Also, that there’s a certain good vibe about what we do and that we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Nevertheless, we do this with all our heart and soul.
The first self-titled ep will be released in early 2024. A full-length album is also planned and will be released in the coming year.

Line-up:
𝘎𝘶𝘳𝘶 𝘚𝘶𝘬𝘳𝘢𝘮 – 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘳 & 𝘷𝘰𝘤𝘴

ORTHODOX Get Hook Up from Iconic 90s Jeans Brand JNCO

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 11, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: ORTHODOX. Leave a comment

ORTHODOX, the dynamic nu metalcore band hailing from Nashville and famed for their “BIG PANTS MUSIC,” now rep JNCO, the manufacturers of the world’s biggest jeans and a brand synonymous with the 90s’ nu metal fashion scene.

The band has long drawn inspiration from the era that the jeans brand dominated. Not only has the company provided the band with an array of pants and shirts, but the nod is affirming to the band’s music: both in terms of influences and the “BIG PANTS MUSIC” moniker they proudly rep.

Adam Easterling, the charismatic vocalist of Orthodox, expressed his excitement about this collaboration: “JNCO played such a wild role in the culture of the music I dreamt of playing as a kid, so this full circle moment is pretty surreal. I never thought back when I was starting my first shitty bands and playing to nobody that down the road my team would have the recognition and support of such a notable name.”

JNCO’s stamp of approval is a testament to the enduring legacy of the nu metal era and its ongoing influence on contemporary artists. ORTHODOX’s love for the famed jeans brand is not only a nod to their musical roots but also a celebration of the revival of 90s fashion trends in today’s music scene.

The band is set to showcase their new apparel at upcoming shows, promising an electrifying fusion of their hard-hitting music and iconic 90s style.

ORTHODOX is:

Adam Easterling – Vocals
Austin Evans – Guitar
Ben Touchberry – Guitar
Shiloh Krebs – Bass
Mike White – Drums

With their upcoming, fourth studio album “Daenacteh”, Norwegian melodic death metal band DECEPTION are broadening their creative songwriting. The result is a bigger sound with more experimental passages and more harmonic content than ever before in the Stavanger collective, while they’re looking to dive deeper into the international market to expand their audience.

With lyrics and music of taking you the listener on a journey through the desert following a young woman trying to care for her family in a brutalitarian state during a national emergency, “Daenacteh” hits the spot on grandiose, epic melodic death metal with the right amount of symphonic influences.

“Daenacteh” will be released on LP (black vinyl, limited to 300 copies) and digital formats via Mighty Music on March 22nd, 2024. Pre-orders are available here.

Drawing inspiration from bands like Wintersun, Septicflesh and Blood Red Throne, Deception create brutal, hard hitting, technical music surrounded by dark, beautiful and majestic soundscapes with the use of orchestral instruments and synths. After two initial full-lengths, “The Mire” (2021) was the first album going in this direction and was well received both nationally and internationally. Throughout their career, Deception have toured abroad, headlined multiple national tours and have supported acts such as Hypocrisy, Insomnium, Testament and Entombed among others.

Recently, the band got an extra spotlight after singer/guitarist Sindre Wathne Johnsen was announced as Blood Red Throne’s new singer.

“Daenacteh” will be released on LP (black vinyl, limited to 300 copies) and digital formats via Mighty Music on March 22nd, 2024.
