French modern melodic death metallers SUJIN – formally known as Whisper Night – have released a lyric-video for ‘Winter Breeze’, second single taken from the debut album ‘Save Our Souls’ to be released on February 16th, via Scarlet Records.
Aggressive, catchy and always very intense, Sujin’s debut album aims to break down the boundaries and take the classic melo-death sound to the next level, embracing deathcore, progressive, thrash and even mainstream metal in the process.
Organically merging extreme sounds, rough vocals, punishing rhythms and epic melodies and solo, ‘Save Our Souls’ is about a planet on the verge of collapse – the Earth.
The artwork represents a pre-apocalyptic landscape where the last bastion of mankind took refuge on a gigantic tree; the sparkling triangle is the last power source of this broken world. It’s a strong symbol of rebellion and a message of revolt and hope from Sujin, whose members are personally committed to the preservation and defense of Nature.

Folk artist Amanda Gonsales enchants with the unveiling of her latest lyrical opus, “Noite Morta,” encapsulated in a visually stunning and emotionally evocative lyric video. “Noite Morta” is taken from the EP, “Sacro,” out via Wormholedeath.
“Noite Morta” (Dead Night) was composed on a cold night, during the winter of 2013, in Évora, southern Portugal. Its lyrics were written exactly in front of the Roman Temple, in a historic complex that also includes the Sé cathedral and the Palace of the Inquisition. The solitude of the beginning night presented me with this song, which on that day, didn’t even intend to become a song yet. Sometime later the melody came out, I can say it was through it that I dared to compose.
“Noite Morta” takes me to this scenario, but also to other landscapes that it opens up and allows me. I’m entering. “Noite Morta” touches the cold, the loneliness, the rawness, and hardiness of life, at the same time that it opens us to a mystery, something that is always in suspension, and that carries us to some place where we feel extremely alone and at the same time connected. With all. It’s that place of solitude where we like to be, where at least for a moment we give thanks and realize that we are part of something that is beyond. “Noite Morta” is also a prophecy of death, someone who comes to look for us, the irony that we imagine this great entity would have when it invited us to leave. “Noite Morta” is dark, ironic, deserted, sinister, icy, dense, ethereal, challenging, and peaceful as a last breath should be.
“Noite Morta” speaks of our death. A surrender, where we let ourselves be carried away and be part of something much bigger. The peak, which makes us feel extremely connected with life.
Amanda’s artistic expression transcends conventional boundaries, as she invites her audience to embark on a multisensory journey through sound and stage performance, transporting them to realms beyond the ordinary fabric of space and time.

Sweden’s ALFAHANNE, whose ability both on and off stage to produce their own infectious, crowd-pleasing “Alfapocalyptic Rock” has endeared the band to a legion of fans since the 2013 release of their debut full-length “Alfapokalyps“, will be back this year with their fifth album “Vår tid är nu”.
But, although fans will have to wait until the 9th February to hear the album in its entirety, Dark Essence Records have today released a new single taken from the album. Titled “Wolfman” the track can be streamed or downloaded from a variety of services at this location, whilst the video, by Necrolust Productions, can can be seen on YouTube, below.
Commenting on the track, ALFAHANNE noted that:
The song includes brilliant Steel guitar work which is something different for us, but make no mistake, “Wolfman” is as “Alfahanne” as it gets. It’s a classic Rock song but it comes with a twist because we have never been afraid of turning left when the road turns right.
Whilst “Vår tid är nu” is unmistakably ALFAHANNE, replete with the band’s mix of Black Metal, Classic Rock, Punk and a healthy dose of Rock n Roll, it is, nevertheless, their heaviest album to date. The catchy melodies and the punk swagger are all present, but so too is a an underlying bleak atmosphere that is reminiscent of both the early days of Black Metal and the 80s.
With album cover art by Roger Pettersson and photography by Uffe Sandin, tracklisting on “Vår tid är nu” is as follows:
Intro
9:e cirkeln
Eremiten (Feat. Doedsadmiral)
Elden har vaknat
Alfa omega (Feat. Nattefrost)
Wolfman
När allt faller-Kaiken Kaatuessa (Feat. Spellgoth)

Finnish modern metal band Volucrine released a new single Riptide. The track is taken from the upcoming fourth studio album ETNA which is set to be released on February 16th 2024 via Inverse Records.
Vocalist Jupe Velin comments: “Riptide is the story of a life lost in a storm of mental distress and pressure. There is still hope for a recovery, but the journey to the surface is getting longer by the day as the bottom inches closer and closer. Or is the bottom only an illusion as well? A mere landmark on the way to the endless depths below? We have been saying that we’ve returned to a heavier expression with the upcoming album and Riptide really lives up to all expectations in that regard. If our soon-to-bereleased album ETNA is a kind of survival story of a fragile psyche, RIPTIDE serves as a prologue bursting with explosive power. We’ve injected the song with a generous helping of punk attitude and hardcore energy to spice up our familiar alternative metal formula. So the course is clear! The crew of Volucrine welcomes you to board this dilapidated vessel sailing through the surges of a broken mind!”
Volucrine are a modern metal band that grew up by the cold Kymijoki river, in the shadows of Kouvola’s concrete structures. Founded in 2009, Volucrine’s mission has been, ever since the beginning, to tell stories of relatable emotions and challenges; to reflect and articulate humane themes beyond the borders of pain. The band’s style of genre-defying melodic alternative metal with vigorous guitar riffs, catchy choruses, and varied, rich vocal arrangements has only grown and refined over the years. Volucrine’s characteristic sound is created by mixing elements of progressive metal, melodic death metal and metalcore with the conventions of pop and rock music. This mixture creates a heartfelt but heavy style of music, where genuine emotion and primal frenzy go hand in hand.
At the beginning of 2024, the band will release their fourth full-length album, ETNA, and are eager to get back on stage after spending a long time working in the studio. Volucrine thrive on energetic live shows and are a true force of nature on stage, bringing a positive energy and uncompromising power to each performance. Operating at the turning point of their 15-year journey, the reformed band is finally in its purest form and is ready for everything the future has to offer.
