RADIOBOT Release New Single + Official Music Video ‘This World’s On Fire’

Introducing Radiobot, a dynamic musical ensemble comprising the talented members Brett Scallions, Billy Harvey, and Eddie Wohl. This exciting band has unveiled their original debut single “This World’s On Fire” and it’s now available on all major music platforms via TLG/Virgin Music Group. The band will release their debut album in Spring 2024!

“At a time when the world certainly feels like it’s a mess, we hope listeners will enjoy the comical tongue in cheek lyrics in this song. That, along with the stomp beat, should get your booty shaking and have some fun with it,” says the band.

In regards to the video, the band states, “Billy, Eddie, and I always wanted to see ourselves as cartoons. Making this video was our shining moment to make a dream come true! Glen and Isabella Levanon had the perfect art style to make the treatment we wrote come to life. At a time when the World really is in a bit of a mess, we hope this video can provide a little comedy to lighten the state of things. Enjoy.”

RadioBot is a writing trio consisting of Brett Scallions, Billy Harvey, and Eddie Wohl. They got together for the first time in 2016, when Eddie invited Brett and Billy to his studio for a writing session. Though Brett and Billy had just met, Eddie’s suspicions were spot-on: after just a few days in a room, the trio had three new songs to share. (“It’s On,” “New Best Friend,” and “Rolling On.”) Despite the undeniable chemistry, however, conflicting commitments and touring schedules forced Radiobot into a temporary hiatus shortly thereafter.

Flash forward to 2020. Lockdown. Isolation. Life changed for everyone on the planet. Being in the same room is how music is made…right?!

This time, RadioBot refused to let anything get in their way. The project was revving up again, and even distance proved a surmountable hurdle. With Billy in Nashville and Eddie and Brett both in California, the group decided to pursue the project virtually, via Zoom and FaceTime calls. Their mentality: “never let anyone tell you that you have to be in a room together to write or record an album.” They started writing, and before you know it, they had written—and recorded—18 songs.

The age of the HOME STUDIO.

“Everything starts with a Billy riff,” Brett said of their writing process. “After we establish the main riff of the song, we add more parts as needed, all while creating vocal melodies. Once we have the song arranged, I’ll take it and start laying down the drums. After the drums are the way we want them, I send the drum tracks to Billy, and he starts layering his guitar parts. We just keep adding what is needed until we feel like the song is finished.”

Stay tuned for the forthcoming albums CONCRETE and DESERT later this year.

Brett Scallions is best known as the original lead singer of the rock band Fuel. Brett released 4 albums with the band and sold over 5 million albums worldwide. He also toured the world singing The Doors catalog with Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors. Brett was quoted as saying, _“We all try our parent’s shoes on at some point in our lives. It’s been nice to see what Jim’s felt like.” Other projects Brett has worked on include The X’s, Circus Diablo, and World Fire Brigade. He has performed with many of the top performers in the world including Slash, Dave Navarro, Tom Morrello, Mike McCready, Dee Snider, DMC, and Glen Campbell.

“Billy Harvey is the most famous person you’ve never heard of.” — AJ Croce.

A caffeine-addled do-it-yourselfer, Billy Harvey has navigated his career by quietly directing, editing, recording, and producing everything in sight. He’s produced records for artists like Crystal Bowersox (finalist on season nine of American Idol), Bob Schneider, Pat Byrne (winner of the first series of The Voice of Ireland), Charlie Mars, and Steve Poltz, to name a few.

He has also worked steadily as a side man, accompanying the likes of Patty Griffin, Kim Richey, The Forest Rangers, and The Courtyard Hounds.

He also played guitar in the hair band FLAME, if you want a chuckle.

Los Angeles based Eddie Wohl is a five time Emmy Award winning songwriter, composer, producer & mixer, whose projects have sold over 6 million units. As an artist he was signed to Epic, Elektra, Mercury/Island and had a production deal with Roadrunner Records. Growing up on the East Coast, Wohl was in his first band at age 15 and signed to his first record deal at the age of 25. Wohl’s major influences growing up included Black Sabbath, Stevie Wonder, Public Enemy and McCoy Tyner. Coming out of the NYC club/band scene he has spent many years honing his craft as a world- class songwriter and producer. In 1999 Wohl, along with his partners, launched the iconic New York based Scrap 60 Productions, which was responsible for producing such acts such as Anthrax, Ill Nino and H2O, to name a few.

His producing credits include a range of metal greats Fuel, Anthrax, Smile Empty Soul to glam punker Jesse Mallin and pop artist/American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi. Records that he’s produced embody performances by Bruce Springsteen, Robby Krieger, Roger Daltrey, Chino Moreno, Jakob Dylan, Josh Homme, Chris Shiflett, Jada Pinkett Smith and Dimebag Darrell.

As a composer Wohl has received five Emmy Awards for his work on his NBC San Diego and Washington DC Olympic and news promos. Having had numerous song placements on TV, including Superbowl XLVII, The CBS Superbowl Pre-Game show, “CBS Super Bowl 50th Anniversary” spots the NFL on CBS, NBA on NBC, The Rio Olympics, The NHL, NCAA Basketball, PGA Golf on CBS and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

Wohl’s diverse music influences, collaborations and background allow for a unique approach to his craft.

Swedish blackened death metal masters NECROPHOBIC will be releasing their tenth studio album, ‘In the Twilight Grey,’ on March 15, 2023 via Century Media Records! To celebrate, the band is now sharing the devastating first single, “Stormcrow,” along with a music video! The clip was directed by Claudio Marino for Artax Film and can be found at THIS LOCATION.

The band comments: “‘Stormcrow’ was one of the first songs written for the new album. The idea was to take the very classic Necrophobic elements and blend them with a slow paced bridge with a strong heavy metal feel. The lyrical theme is about a wounded beast rising from the depths who lays his trust in a winged so called ‘truth sayer.’ Maybe we should be careful about letting the stormcrows carry our words to the world…”

‘In the Twilight Grey’ is now available for pre-orders HERE

The artwork for ‘In The Twilight Grey’ was created by Jens Rydén and can be found below along with the tracklist!

‘In The Twilight Grey’ Tracklisting:

  1. Grace of the Past
  2. Clavis Inferni
  3. As Stars Collide
  4. Stormcrow
  5. Shadows of the Brightest Night
  6. Mirrors of a Thousand Lakes
  7. Cast in Stone
  8. Nordanvind
  9. In the Twilight Grey
  10. Ascension (Episode Four)

With over thirty years of active, nefarious service under their spikes and bulletbelts, NECROPHOBIC are undisputed legends of the death and black metal scene. Formed in 1989 by drummer Joakim Sterner, the Stockholm blackhearts propagated a singular and fearless vision from the very start.

Eschewing the self-conscious amateurism and primitive sonics that many of their peers held dear, NECROPHOBIC established a bold and vivid identity of their own, conjuring a densely melodic, but endlessly wicked take on macabre extreme metal that countless lesser bands have since emulated.

You can take a deep dive into their history via the rereleases of their entire back catalogue that Century Media Records made available in 2022 HERE.

Yet again “In the Twilight Grey” was produced, mixed and mastered by Fredrik Folkare (of death metal icons Unleashed) at Chrome Studios, Stockholm and engineered in close collaboration by Folkare and the band themselves. For the artwork they teamed up with Jens Rydén, another likeminded institution from the Swedish scene.

Line-Up:
Johan Bergebäck – Rhythm guitar
Joakim Sterner – Drums
Sebastian Ramstedt – Lead guitar
Anders Strokirk – Vocals
Tobias Cristiansson – Bass

Previous news

Beyond the Gates has just revealed that Norwegian iconic metal band Satyricon will play two unique concerts in Grieghallen as the festival’s artist in residence!

Since the early 90s Satyricon has been a flagbearer and innovator within the confines of Norwegian Extreme Metal – always searching for new ways to challenge themselves and the listener. From songwriting to visual art, production and presentation – Satyricon has always strived to be ahead of the pack.

‘Horns & Diadems’ are two unique sets that celebrate the music and art of this treasured duo, as well as honoring their impact on Norwegian music history and culture. From the early beginnings with ‘Dark Medieval Times’ and ‘The Shadowthrone’ to milestone albums such as ‘Nemesis Divina,’ the groundbreaking ‘Rebel Extravaganza,’ to chart toppers ‘Now,Diabolical’ and ‘Deep Calleth Upon Deep,’ Satyricon has made no compromises in their 30+ year career as a genre defining entity.

The two concerts will have completely different setlists, spanning from the early days – featuring songs that haven’t been performed live for many, many years – up until present day.

Satyricon frontman Satyr comments: “What we are doing here is an example of the route this band has taken. A residency at the mighty Grieghallen feels like a natural next step following appearances at the The Norwegian Opera and Ballet and the art exhibition, Satyricon & Munch at the Munch Museum. We will try and show everyone exactly what this band is about and we very much look forward to it already.”

Adds festival manager, Torgrim Øyre: “We’ve always strived to be able to offer our festival audience something unique – to take them on a journey that you can’t experience anywhere else. Working with Satyricon on this project is an exemplification of just that. The band has a tremendous history and is an artist that has always pushed the boundaries of the genre, never doing anything by halves. Rest assured – they won’t do that this time either. Satyricon has been creatively restless from the get-go, something that has resulted in a rich and diverse catalogue. We can’t wait to hear the band take a deep plunge into their history and and take us all on a Supersonic Journey from their roots and beyond.”

The concerts will also include guest musicians who have made a mark on Satyricon’s illustrious history. The two shows will take place in the iconic Grieghallen Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3. The event will be enriched with a variety of art exhibitions and other Satyricon related activities.

Expect the unexpected.

Beyond the Gates Festival 2024 has recently revealed a very special and rare all-star tribute to Quorthon and the music of Bathory! Under the banner of Blood Fire Death, the unique set will not only see former members of Bathory take the stage, but will also feature current and past members of Aura Noir, Darvaza, Emperor, Enslaved, Gorgoroth, Mayhem, Primordial, Satyricon, Watain + Whoredom Rife.

Beyond the Gates comments, “2024 marks 20 years since the passing of Thomas ‘Quorthon’ Forsberg. Quorthon is widely regarded as one of the most influential musicians and composers in the world of extreme metal. It’s safe to say that Black Metal as we know it today would never have been the same without the music of Bathory. The trademark riffing, the production and all over aesthetic is omnipresent in all the bands that has later made their mark on the genre.

“On the final day of Beyond the Gates 2024 a massive line-up featuring members and ex members from bands like Aura Noir, Bathory, Darvaza, Emperor, Enslaved, Gorgoroth, Mayhem, Primordial, Satyricon, Watain and Whoredom Rife will gather in Grieghallen to pay tribute to Quorthon’s legacy and the music of Bathory.

“The concert will be rounded off with a spectacular production, elevating the music and the imagery of the legendary band like you’ve never seen before.

“Gather, Bathory hordes!”

Beyond the Gates Festival recently revealed the return of its third annual Beyond the Gates Experience, which offers special guided tours in the heart of Bergen (NO) by some of the Norwegian music scene’s own icons! These once-in-a-headbanger-lifetime experiences will be offered to fans during the festival, which includes a tour to the infamous Fantoft Stave Church with Finn Håkon Rødland, the Black Metal Landmarks tour with Tore Bratseth, and Beyond the Black Metal Classics – a guided tour of Grieghallen with Pytten!

Fans can purchase their tickets and select their preferred date and time HERE.

Black Metal Landmarks with Tore Bratseth

Metal legend and storyteller bar none, Tore Bratseth (Old Funeral, The Batallion, Bömbers) will take you on a trip to the outskirts of Bergen to show visitors a series of key locations in the Norwegian black metal lore. The trip includes stops at the Lysekloster ruins, where a series of legendary photo and video shoots have taken place, as well as the bunker where Euronymous was photographed for the “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” promo cycle. Another stop on the trek is the location of the original Os Rock Club where Mayhem rehearsed before the recording “DMDS” in Grieghallen, and also regular rehearsal place for Old Funeral and Amputation.

This trip will go by bus from outside of Grieghallen (Nygårdsgaten).

Beyond the Black Metal Classics – a guided tour of Grieghallen with Pytten

If you want to get an in-depth look at how some of the most renowned black metal classics from the 90s came together, look no further! Legendary producer Pytten has offered to take the Beyond the Gates audience on a guided tour of Grieghallen, where he recorded seminal albums such as Enslaved’s Vikingligr Veldi, Frost and Eld, the first two Emperor albums, In the Nightside Eclipse and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk, Gorgoroth’s Pentagram and Antichrist, Mayhem’s De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, and Immortal’s Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism, Battles in the North. Without a doubt, all of these records were instrumental in shaping what became the sound of the inimitable Norwegian Black Metal scene in the 90’s.

In an effort to make this an intimate experience for all attendees, there will only be a very limited number of tickets available for each group.

Fantoft Stave Church Tour with Finn Håkon Rødland

Any self-respecting black metal aficionado knows the dark story of the genre’s origins, which includes the infamous Fantoft Stave Church arson that took place on June 6, 1992. Now rebuilt exactly as it was before the fire, fans can get a personal tour of this legendary site with black metal historian Finn Håkon Rødland.

“As a festival, Beyond the Gates is immediately lovable. Bergen is intrinsically part of that embrace… Sure, Norway’s expensive, but seeing the best bands out there, taking in a Tolkienesque fjord or two, pilgrimaging to Fantoft church, hitting up Gaahl’s art gallery (Galleri Fjalar) nestled in the quaint houses at Bryggen while Freyr gleefully and continually pisses rain on you from the heavens? All worth its weight in hordes of kroner.” – Decibel Magazine, December 2022 issue

Since the inception of the Beyond the Gates festival, fans have been coming to Bergen to see performances of their favorite Norwegian artists in their home environment. As most visitors know, nature and local culture has always been a poignant source of inspiration for the bands emerging from the Bergen scene. Yet again, Beyond the Gates will give all of the traveling fans the opportunity to get an unique insight into all aspects of the Norwegian Metal scene and the local culture in general. In that regard, we’re putting together a series of events before and during the festival so that all of you can discover what inspired – and still does – the Norwegian metal scene.

More special events will be announced, including exclusive listening parties, music and culture panels, in-depth live interviews, and a wealth of of events and activities that will give you a Beyond the Gates Experience that will last for a lifetime. Stay tuned for more…

Lilla Veneda was initiated and founded in 2009 in Wrocław (Poland) by Virian. Band took the name from one of the most famous Polish romantic tragedies – Lilla Weneda written by Juliusz Slowacki.

Virian said: “We were looking for the name that will be unique but also adequate the musical atmospehere. Lilla Weneda is dark tragedy immersed in the pagan period of time (pre-Polish). It reminds the best tragedies written by William Shakespeare but with the slavic background.“

Lower Silesian band already unleashed brand new song titled “Colossi” from upcoming studio album titled “Primordial Movements“. Once again band used the services of Przemysław Nowak from Impressive-Art Studio (Asgaard, Odraza, Outre). The album’s premiere is scheduled on February 29, 2024. Pre-order will be available soon at Szataniec.pl. Cover artwork by Anna Sobczak.

Virian about lyrics and new album: “The core of the lyrics since the demo, then continue on the debut album is a riddle of existence. It’s a mixed of a science, philosophy and poetry. On the newest LP we try to present the lates discovers from the science and philosophical trends to explain who as humans we are, where the world comes from and where as a civilisation we are going. Probably it’s not hard to understand it but to accept it. Hence we don’t want to lie to ourselves but try to be as curious and rational as possible. Of course the rule of the science is to constantly questioning what we already know to make a progress.

That is in our DNA so be sure that musically and lyrically we always be a little different but it’s a natural evolution instead of revolution but never say never…“

VESTINDIEN Reveal First Single ‘Forbi Stillheten’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on December 11, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: VESTINDIEN. Leave a comment

As work on VESTINDIEN’s sophomore full-length album “Verdande” nears completion, Dark Essence Records has managed to give fans of the band an early Christmas present by releasing one of the finished tracks as a single.

Almost three years on from the release of VESTINDIEN’s 2020 debut full-length “Null”, the new single, titled “Forbi Stillheten”, bridges the gap from where the band were then, to where they are today.

“Null” served to introduce fans to VESTINDIEN’s unique approach to a dark, harsh and sinister old-school metal sound, and whilst “Forbi Stillheten”  is still very much rooted in metal, this time it also references 60s psych and 70s prog.

Described by the band as  “A hymn to the people who see the world as something they belong to, rather than something that belongs to them”,  “Forbi Stillheten” can be streamed or downloaded from a variety of services at THIS LOCATION.

Formed in 2009 and named after the last known brothel (now a museum) in Bergen, VESTINDIEN  had a reputation as an up-and-coming hardcore band with a heavy metal twist, and a solid following eager to witness VESTINDIEN’s frenetic live shows.  But one year after the release of their 2011 EP “We are the Lords of Hellfire”, the band inexplicably called it a day.

Several years later VESTINDIEN re-emerged with a more introverted, and less hardcore and aggressive, approach to their music.  Hints of the band’s hardcore roots were still discernible, but VESTINDIEN’s sound had manifested itself into a dark shroud that conjured up the essence of black metal, punk and old school rock’n’roll. As a result “Null”  was filled with songs that were dark, desperate and desolate, but also packed hard punches of energy and groove.

Details of the new album itself are still being kept under wraps, but we can reveal that “Verdande” was written in a basement in Bergen, as well as  on a secluded island in the Barents Sea.  The latter’s location out in the open sea, has literally, and figuratively, given VESTINDIEN more air and space do develop their music, without sacrificing any of those claustrophobic and chaotic roots from the underground.

VESTINDIEN’s lineup is comprised of Slettsnok on vocals,  guitars and synth, Fader War and Henrik Paulsen on guitars, Karl Johan Johannessen on drums, Petter Beyer on synth and Pål Eirik Veseth on bass, and more information about the band can be found on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Vestindien/
