MAVIS Release New Single & Video ‘Furry Tongue’

German metalcore quartet MAVIS have just released their second-ever single named ‘Furry Tongue’, which is out now via Arising Empire.

Stream/purchase ‘Furry Tongue’ here: https://arisingempire.com/furrytongue

Featuring vocalist Phil Donay, guitarist Manu Weller, bass player Mo Amrein, and drummer Jakob Schulz-Klein, Mavis stunned the music world with their recent release, ‘Tortured Land’. Now they’re back, venturing even further into uncharted musical territory with their new single, ‘Furry Tongue’. This latest masterpiece is a harmonious chaos, elegantly flitting between time signatures while maintaining a fluid, danceable rhythm.

“The complexity of ‘Furry Tongue’ didn’t compromise its groove. Achieving a song you can dance to was a pinnacle for us“, shares lead singer Phil.

‘Furry Tongue’ is a musical narrative that mirrors its lyrical content – it dances on the edge of intuition and overanalysis, exploring the tenuous balance that exists between the two and the exploitation that can arise from either extreme. Phil equates this delicate balancing act to the uncomfortable yet familiar sensation of a furry tongue.

Audiences are led on an auditory journey, meandering through exquisite melodies and clean vocals before being plunged into the intense, arresting breakdown riffs, a testament to Mavis’s skillful songwriting and performance prowess. If ‘Tortured Land’ was an introduction to their dynamism, ‘Furry Tongue’ solidifies their position as forerunners in innovative metalcore.

The visual component, a collaboration with Danny Jakov (deadapefilms), encapsulates the song’s essence. It oscillates between cerebral choreography and instinctive movement, translating the lyrical and musical duality into a visual spectacle that accentuates the emotive power of ‘Furry Tongue’. In this immersive experience, Mavis reaffirms that they’re not just musicians – they’re storytellers, blurring the boundaries between genres and artistic mediums.

Mavis are:
Phil Donay | vocals
Manu Weller | guitar
Mo Amrein | guitar
Jakob Schulz-Klein | drums

Legendary Psych-Rockers GONG Unveil Second Single ‘All Clocks Reset’

Following ‘Tiny Galaxies’, the first piece of the intergalactic puzzle, GONG return for the second instalment from the forthcoming album Unending Ascending, out November 3rd via Kscope.

With a suitably cosmic video from long time live collaborator Fruit Salad Lights, ‘All Clocks Reset’ takes the mind, body and spirit into realms that only Gong can conjure.

Pre-order and stream ‘All Clocks Reset’, here: https://gong.lnk.to/unending

Regarding the track, the band had the following to say : “Angular guitars! Pointillistic horns! Cataclysmic words! With gods and monsters on their tail, Gong insist you take a trip on the kinetic mainline to experience the dissolution of both ego and sense of self through the universal vehicle of knotty psychedelic rock. The apocalypse never felt so good.”

Following the success of 2019’s The Universe Also Collapses, Gong’s intergalactic voyage has once more entered Earth’s orbit with their new album Unending Ascending.

Set for release on 3rd November 2023, the new album promises another mind-expanding set of songs. Opener ‘Tiny Galaxies’ crackles with the electricity of supercharged sixties psych-pop, while ‘My Guitar Is A Spaceship’ is as close to an anthem as anything Gong have previously recorded. This uptempo, single-riff stomper is already a live favourite, garnering a positive reaction from a crowd of 90,000 Blur fans at Wembley Stadium in July 2023, when Gong frontman Kavus Torabi dropped it into his DJ set before Paul Weller took to the stage.

‘Ship of Ishtar’ is a rapt cosmic hymn where Gong make time itself stand still. Jet streams of kaleidoscopic melodies envelop ‘O, Arcturus’, to be followed by the lively polyrhythmic angularity of ‘All Clocks Reset’. ‘Choose Your Goddess’, a surprisingly muscular slice of ritualistic trance rock, ratchets up the intensity yet further. On ‘Lunar Invocation’ the band summons the Moon deities of yore with ululating feedback and squalling cymbals before the post-credits of ‘Asleep Do We Lay’ lull lugubriously, gently beginning the cycle all over again.

Unending Ascending tracklisting:

1 Tiny Galaxies
2 My Guitar is a Spaceship
3 Ship Of Ishtar
4 O Arcturus
5 All Clocks Reset
6 Choose Your Goddess
7 Lunar Invocation
8 Asleep Do We Lay

About Gong:

The universe of Gong began in 1969 when Daevid Allen was inspired by a profound psychedelic vision. A founder member of Soft Machine, Allen incorporated his spiritual and metaphysical leanings into an evolving collective. More a mythology than a band in the conventional sense, Gong established itself as one of the most unique, innovative and experimental rock groups of the seventies, through an exploratory mix of rock, jazz and psychedelia with elements of mysticism and surrealism, unafraid to deliver its messages directly, obliquely or whimsically. The current incarnation, who were put together by Daevid after his swansong album with Gong, ‘I See You’, honour his intention that Gong do not die with him, urging the band to “carry it on into new unknown heights and depths far beyond anything I could ever imagine myself”.

The collective of Kavus Torabi, Dave Sturt, Fabio Golfetti, Ian East and Cheb Nettles is the most stable in Gong‘s illustrious history, having written, recorded and toured together for eight years since Allen‘s passing. A dynamic, powerful and explosive live band, their music draws from the credo of the original Gong while remaining committed to pushing the composition, performances and message into new realms, paying no mind to nostalgia. Gong in 2023 continue the ethics, attitude and lifestyle that was always woven into the fabric of the band.

Gong’s Unending Ascending will be available on CD / Black LP / Limited edition Green LP and Digitally.

About the band:
MERCYFUL FATE is hard at work on a new album and back in June of 2022, gave fans a taste of the new material when they debuted a song called “The Jackal Of Salzburg” in Germany as well as at Psycho Las Vegas. The band’s current lineup is King Diamond on vocals, Hank Shermann and Mike Wead on guitars, Bjarne T. Holm on drums and Joey Vera on bass.

MERCYFUL FATE was formed in early 1981 in Copenhagen, Denmark by vocalist King Diamond and guitarist Hank Shermann. They were later joined by guitarist Michael Denner and bassist Timi Hansen, and soon thereafter drummer Kim Ruzz would join to complete the band lineup. The band recorded two demos in 1981 and later signed with Rave On Records in Holland for the recording of their successful self-titled EP, released in November of 1982. The Mercyful Fate EP was soon in heavy rotation around core metal radio stations, launching a new breed of heavy metal with their unique sound.

The band joined Roadrunner Records in 1983 and their debut full-length, Melissa, was recorded and released that same year. The following year, MERCYFUL FATE returned to the studio to record their now legendary Don’t Break The Oath full-length, released in September of 1984.

MERCYFUL FATE embarked upon a two month US tour in support of the record, which took them across the States several times sharing the stage with the likes of Motörhead and Exciter. The shows had created a brush fire within the metal community. The band reaped recognition globally, closing the year with a five-date tour in Germany with Motörhead, Girlschool, Helix, and Talon.

MERCYFUL FATE‘s first concert of 1985 was in their hometown of Copenhagen at an old movie theater with a large capacity. The show sold out and their stage show exhibited a new level of distinction. The night was a huge victory and a new highlight for the band.

By April of 1985 however, MERCYFUL FATE decided to part ways for each to pursue new challenges. The King Diamond band was born and reaped critical acclaim the following years with five studio albums on Roadrunner Records. King Diamond has since signed with Metal Blade Records and is going stronger than ever before.

In the Summer of 1992, MERCYFUL FATE decided to reunite and penned a new deal with Brian Slagel and his label, Metal Blade Records. In The Shadows was released in 1993 and was an instant triumph furthered by a sold out US tour.

MERCYFUL FATE has gone on to release another five studio albums and have toured Europe, the US, and South America multiple times. The highlight of 1999 was their critically acclaimed album 9 which was followed by a European tour with Metallica, where King Diamond and Hank Shermann joined the band onstage several times for the medley “Mercyful Fate” which Metallica had recorded on their Garage Inc. double tribute album the year prior. Tours in the US and in South America followed, marking the band’s last live performances for over a decade. MERCYFUL FATE then went on hiatus, but made a brief appearance when members joined Metallica onstage in 2011 for their 30th anniversary show in San Francisco, California.

LAMB OF GOD Unleash Explosive New Single ‘Evidence’

Back with a crushing anthem, LAMB OF GOD unleash a brand-new single entitled ‘Evidence’. The GRAMMY® Award-nominated metal titans originally recorded the song during the sessions for their acclaimed 2022 opus and ninth full-length LP, Omens. They’ve uncovered it in honor of the latter’s one-year anniversary today.

Listen to ‘Evidence’ here: https://lamb-of-god.lnk.to/Evidence

Regarding the single, vocalist Randy Blythe shared, “One of the more baffling aspects of modern day life is the conscious rejection of empirical facts in favor of Internet echo chamber emotional security blankets. Truth is not subjective, no matter how uncomfortable that makes some people. Art is though, so enjoy the song, however you may choose to interpret it.”

Exploding as a signature LAMB OF GOD pit-starter, ‘Evidence’ barges in with a pummeling polyrhythmic groove fortified by airtight riffing. Against this backdrop, Blythe’s apocalyptic observations cut deep as he muses, “The road to hell is paved with bad concessions,” before repeating on the refrain, “The body politic has decomposed.” It culminates on one last burst of cathartic energy baptized in distortion and venomous screams.

Alongside the new single, tomorrow LAMB OF GOD will share their Making Of: Omens documentary wide for the first on the actual one-year anniversary mark of the album. Initially released last year on-demand for a limited one-month release alongside physical CD and Vinyl merch bundles, this marks the wide-release of the inside look at the process of writing and recording the metal icons celebrated ninth album.

LAMB OF GOD just concluded a busy summer. They supported Pantera on the legendary band’s first headline tour since 2001, performing to sold out amphitheaters and sheds on a nightly basis. In between, they concurrently packed venues on their own headline jaunt across North America.

2022’s Omens notably marked the band’s sixth consecutive Top 15 debut on the Billboard 200 in addition to capturing #1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, #3 on the Top Album Sales Chart, #3 on the Top Rock Albums Chart, and #5 on the Top Vinyl Albums Chart. Not to mention, it has amassed an unprecedented 60 million streams and counting. Get it here: https://lamb-of-god.lnk.to/Omens

Be on the lookout for more from LAMB OF GOD soon.

SHAKRA Release New Single ‘What You See (And What you Don’t)’

After their latest, chart-topping album, Invincible (available HERE!), that entered a phenomenal #1 in the Swiss album charts, SHAKRA return with a thundering encore! The Swiss hard rockers are hitting the gas pedal with their new single, “What You See (And What You Don’t)”, blasting through with an attitude reminiscent of Mötley Crüe’s glory days!

“We all know that phrase,“What you see is what you get.”However, that’s only half the truth because what you get also comes with what you don’t see.” The band comments. In a world where appearances often deceive, SHAKRA‘s new single offers a piercing look into the duality of reality.

Lyrics like “Every ‘good’ has its ‘bad,’ Even a joke can make you sad,” serve as a haunting reminder that everything comes at a cost. With the powerful voice of frontman Mark Fox and the band’s crisp riffs, the song will take you on a soul-searching journey to question what is genuine and what is illusory. “What you see and what you don’t is what you get,” sings Fox, reminding us that life often comes with unwelcome surprises, and it’s up to us to navigate through its complexities. So take a closer look, and then another, because all that glitters isn’t always gold.

The new SHAKRA track, “What You See (And What you Don’t)”, is now available on all digital services at THIS LOCATION!

“You are invincible — You can achieve anything, not if you believe in it, but if you know it…and that makes you invincible!” That’s the core message of the band’s latest album offering, Invincible, that was lauded by both rock fans and critics alike. Released in June 2023 via AFM Records, SHAKRA have proved why they are not only invincible but belong to one of the most enthralling, powerful acts the hard and heavy rock scene has to offer!

IRON SAVIOR Celebrate Record Release Day With ‘Together As One’ Video

In support of their brand new, critically-acclaimed studio album, Firestar, German power metal force IRON SAVIOR has shared a music video for “Together As One”. The band’s new offering is out now on AFM Records, and can be ordered at THIS LOCATION!

“Together As One” is easily one of the best songs ever written by me,” is IRON SAVIOR frontman, Piet Sielck, convinced. “But that goes for the entire new album. FIRESTAR turned out to be one of the best Iron Savior works within 25 years of band history. Why? We have no idea… it’s just like that!”

IRON SAVIOR‘s Firestar features a wide range of influences from hard rock to pop, all calibrated to heavy metal trademark the band is known and loved for. But sometimes pure coincidence or seemingly inconspicuous little details can turn a very good album into an outstanding release. In the case of Firestar, it has come as a real surprise even for Sielck that the new songs surpass the material of the impressive 2020-album Skycrest. In fact, the cornerstones of the current offering were already set and pointed to a successful production within the tried and tested framework, when all of a sudden everything turned out rather differently: “Just before the recordings were finalised, I was inspired by the muse, totally of the blue. I wrote two more songs out of nowhere and changed a third one on the spur of the moment. And suddenly, ‘Firestar’ turned into an even better record,” Sielck recently said, admitting that this unexpected creative surge “triggered great emotions” in him.

IRON SAVIOR have again come up with an exceptional studio album in Firestar, enhanced by Felipe Machado Franco’s impressive cover artwork. The cherry on the cake is the powerful production courtesy of Hamburg’s Powerhouse Studio, including intelligently positioned keyboard parts and the anthemic background choirs, supported by Sielck’s 17-year-old daughter Frida and her boyfriend. Without any doubt, Firestar turned into a bonfire in many respects – Happy Release Day!

Firestar track listing:

  1. The Titan
  2. Curse of the Machinery
  3. In the Realm of Heavy Metal
  4. Demise of the Tyrant
  5. Firestar
  6. Through the Fires of Hell
  7. Mask, Cloak and Sword
  8. Across the Wastelands
  9. Rising from Ashes
  10. Nothing Is Forever
  11. Together as One

IRON SAVIOR is:
Piet Sielck (vocals, guitars)
Joachim “Piesel” Küstner (guitars)
Jan S. Eckert (bass)
Patrick Klose (drums)
