MIASMIC SERUM to Release Debut Album “Infected Seed” on June 14th

Rising from the vibrant Italian underground, comes death metal outfit MIASMIC SERUM and their debut album, “Infected Seed”, set for release on June 14th 2024 on their new label homes of Night Terrors Records (tape) and Chaos Records (CD format).

The first single “Mortal Training”, featuring Jason Netherton of MISERY INDEX, is now streaming HERE.

MIASMIC SERUM is an old-school death metal power trio born in late 2022, between Venice and Treviso, Italy. The band’s style takes inspiration from early 90’s American death metal, leading to a viperous sound that is conceptually related to poisoning, intoxication on the whole, toxic plants, animal venoms, and even personal previous psycho-nautical experiences. In fact, ‘Miasmic Serum’ stands for an unhealthy exhalation of a serum, which can be identified in the animal and plant kingdoms. Two entwined snakes in the band logo depict the Caduceus symbol, which represents a lethal dose, and the therapeutic one.

All lyrics in “Infected Seed” take inspiration from various realms and cultures, including personal experiences in the world of psychonautics, revisited with Aldous Huxley and Terence Mckenna’s literary works, between dystopian fiction and psychedelic culture, which is also based on the main use of sacred plants. Furthermore, other major analyzed themes are the Eleusinian mysteries of Ancient Greece and the shamanic traditions of the peoples of South America.

MIASMIC SERUM‘s musical style is poised and pure: guttural but clearly enunciated vocals, catchy blastbeat sections, multiple tempo changes without losing sight of classic songwriting, vicious atmospheres and speed-shredding riffs and solos that harken to the earliest days of the genre.

The single “Mortal Training”, features guest vocals from Jason Netherton of MISERY INDEX, while the title track “Infected Seed” features guest vocals from Fiore Stravino of FULCI.

The album artwork and illustration are designed by the Colombian artist Julian Mora Ibañez.

SHALLOW SIDE Premiere New Single/Video for ‘Filters’ Feat. Elias Soriano

Hailing from Cullman, AL Shallow Side, comprised of Eric Boatright, Heath Fields, Sam Bower & Codey Red, are pleased to announce the release of their new single “Filters”. It is the band’s first collaboration and they were excited to have Elias Soriano of NONPOINT not only help create parts of the song, but be a part of the music video.

“Filters” is likely the heaviest song in Shallow Side’s catalog, and with a brutally blistering bridge piece by NONPOINT’s Elias Soriano, it should come as no surprise. This song embodies the essence of what the band wanted to achieve in a new album, both lyrically and compositionally.

It’s the follow up to “You’re The Reason” released in 2023 which brought Shallow Side more radio success. The song charted here in the United States at #30 on Billboard; #33 on Mediabase; #14 of SMR; #29 on Auxio charts.

Since coming into the rock scene, Shallow Side has released a little of everything – including several EPs, a full-length album, plus a number of assorted cover songs and singles.

Their EP, ONE purred three radio singles: “Rebel”, “Renegade” (a powerful Styx cover) and “Can You Hear Me” that began to get them noticed and earned them the title of Loudwire’s ‘Best New Artist of the Year’. ELOUR (pronounced “allure”) is what Elizabeth Ghandour categorizes as Femme Rock. Elizabeth’s direct lyrics, diverse background, and classically trained voice, combined with Ned Barclay’s soaring guitar, Joe Scarpellino’s tasty bass, and Ryan Vee’s creative drumming, yields a sound that’s raucous and rebellious, and yet very stylish.

I see my music as empowering for females because of my honesty. I think women often try to keep their emotions in check because it’s so easy to be called crazy or hysterical or to be seen as “too much” or too intense or aggressive, while males seem to get away with much more, without being labeled or ostracized. I like to lean into those labels and challenge those stereotypes by showing that there is strength in showing emotions, even if they’re emotions that are discouraged for women, such as lust, rage, or anger. “Good Girl” challenges the notion that women should suppress valid emotions to satisfy some external (patriarchal) version of “good.” “Reputation” and “Beautiful Girl,” each in their way, go further and recommend throwing off unhealthy, limiting societal chains.

I titled my album “Blood Running” after a lyric from the song “Ha.” The song displays the anger I felt after a relationship breakup, but underneath the anger was immense hurt. I was unseen and my pain and struggle didn’t matter. I feel it’s a bit of a female anthem because as females we are often dismissed or unacknowledged. We play so many valuable roles in a society that is still run by men. Our effort seems endless and often we are left feeling powerless. I hope that the album inspires people, and women especially, to find validity in all their emotional expression, and to claim their own power.

ULTIO Unveils ‘A Thousand Times More’ Single from Upcoming Album

5 years exactly after “Fera”, ULTIO is back with yet another relentless slab of pure, abrasive Black Metal.

This new full length album is an emotionally shattering experience crafted with the intent of re-evoking a time when Black Metal was simply Black Metal – dark, menacing, uncomplicated and extreme.

ULTIO is a project by Giorgio Barroccu (DERHEAD) and “Cor” can be considered like the twistedly demented brother of “The Grey Zone Phobia”, DERHEAD’s latest album released back in March 2023.

Another side of the same, dark coin – ULTIO shares DERHEAD’s very same dramatic tension and despair, however showcasing here a magnificently unrestrained and raw soul: behind a gloomy wall of freezingly cold riffs and shrieking screams ULTIO ascends maniacally, building a sense of impending peril and oppression – dissonance after dissonance.

Similarly to the previous release, the writing and recording process of the new full lenght album “Cor” was also very instinctive and took place in the space of only a few weeks: the result is something furious and unhinged, raw and visceral – and yet, somehow, grandiose and triumphant in all its bestial savagery.

RAVEN to Release Box Set of Seminal Album “All for One”

For The Metal Voice Kenny Kessel recently spoke to Mark and John Gallagher from the NWOBHM band Raven on April 27, 2024 in New Hope, Pennsylvania at John & Peters club.

When asked about their third album ‘All for One’ 
“This year is the band’s 50th anniversary, this album is 41 years. We came out with this album and it made an impact and in some ways we are still competing with this album, we are up against that history of that record. For us ‘All for one’ made a little bit of a first step  into the USA.  ‘All for one’ is a seminal record, that third album. it’s really a stamp of who we are and that is not taking anything away from our other albums. And of course it’s the title track, All for one, one for all. It’s like we are connecting with the people who come to see us. We are all kind of together. I still look back fondly on this record. We’re doing a box set for this record. It’s going to be a little bit of everything but it also includes a lot of rare stuff that’s  beyond what’s on this record.”

When asked about seeing former Raven drummer Rob ‘Wacko’ Hunter for the first time in 35 years.
“We never talked to Rob after he left for 5 years. Then I had a business thing come up, got him on the phone and we were on the phone for 3 hours. It was kind of nice to reconnect with Rob (recently on this tour). We picked right up where we left off. It has been 37 years since I have seen him.”

When asked about Raven  Having The Same Song Title As Metallica ‘Seek & Destroy’ on 83′ Tour
“Yeah we did laugh about it. We never heard either one’s (song before). All we heard from Metallica was No life til Leather (demo). I just remember hearing  like, ‘Hit the light’, ‘Whiplash’ “
