Classic HALFORD Records to Be Released on Vinyl for the First Time Ever

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 18, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Halford, Rob Halford. Leave a comment

It is universally agreed that one of the greatest heavy metal vocalists of all-time is Rob Halford – who is often referred to as the “Metal God” due to his distinctive, multi-octave singing voice, and his larger-than-life, leather n’ studs persona.

While best-known as the long-time singer of Judas Priest, Halford has also launched his own successful solo career. And now, two of his classic solo efforts will be issued on vinyl for the first time ever – Crucible and Made of Metal.

Both will be issued in several limited edition color variants – Crucible in the colors black (900 units), neon violet (500), ghostly purple (500), and black purple/navy splatter (100), while Made of Metal will be issued in black (900), white (500), coronetto (500), and ghostly (100). A limited number of copies of each variant will be personally signed by Rob Halford.

“I am really proud to see these two Halford band records released on vinyl for the first time,” says the Metal God. “My fans will love the packaging and care that went into these re-issues.”

Both albums were produced by Roy Z. 2002’s Crucible spawned such headbanging favorites as “Betrayal” and the title track (and saw Halford joined by Metal Mike Chlasciak – guitar, Patrick Lachman – guitar, Ray Riendeau – bass, and Bobby Jarzombek – drums), while 2010’s Made of Metal gave us “Till the Day I Die” and “Fire and Ice” (and saw both Chlasciak and Jarzombek returning, as well as bassist Mike Davis and Roy Z providing additional guitar work).

With vinyl’s popularity at an all-time high, these two vintage metal masterpieces by the Metal God will undoubtedly be highly sought after by collectors – grab them while you can!

ALIEN WEAPONRY’s New “Īhenga” Music Video Celebrates Legendary Te Arawa Explorer

In 2021, New Zealand’s global metal frontrunners ALIEN WEAPONRY released their sophomore full-length album, Tangaroa – a record immersed in important historical accounts and cultural heritage of the Māori people. Their role in uniquely spreading vital tales of their culture to an international audience even resulted in recent accolades – last year and for the second time, the band was awarded one of the most significant and prestigious awards in New Zealand’s music industry, the Aotearoa Music Award for Te Kaipuoro Rakapioi Toa (Best Rock Artist).

Today, the band continues to share their history with the release of an artistic new music video for Tangaroa album track “Īhenga”. The video tells the story of Īhenga – perhaps the greatest explorer of the Te Arawa people – and the nephew of one of the de Jong brothers’ ancestors, Kahumatamomoe.

The singing style on the track is known as mōteatea – an ancient form of poetry or chant sometimes used to convey who you are and where you come from by reciting your landmarks.

ALIEN WEAPONRY on the track:
“When the Te Arawa people first came to Aotearoa (New Zealand) from Hawaiki (greater Tahitian Island group), they set about exploring the new land. Īhenga traveled throughout the North Island of Aotearoa and named many places that still have these names today.”

Just announced – New Zealand based fans will have a chance to catch ALIEN WEAPONRY live in 2024! The band will perform at the Homegrown Festival, taking place in Wellington, NZ on March 16. This festival performance follows their upcoming set at Froth & Fury 2023, taking place in Port Adelaide, AUS on November 18.

ALIEN WEAPONRY won over fans and critics alike with their latest album, Tangaroa. The album coalesces the band’s growing maturation with an undisturbed songwriting process, resulting in their most inspired, honest and informed material yet. In addition to lyrics written in te reo Māori, many Tangaroa tracks feature traditional instruments, called taonga puoro, providing the tracks their own warrior-like attitude. While ALIEN WEAPONRY sourced inspiration from their culture and environmental surroundings while writing most of Tangaroa, the band also looked inward – drawing vision for other portions of the album from within.

Since releasing their acclaimed debut Tū (2018), ALIEN WEAPONRY‘s kinetic presence and sound – combining elements of thrash and groove metal with lyrics in the native indigenous language, te reo Māori – has attracted throngs of fans and media supporters across the globe. In addition to amassing millions of cross-platform streams and YouTube views, the band has seen bounds of success at SiriusXM Liquid Metal, was recently hailed the “future of metal” by Metal Hammer and was voted by Revolver Magazine fans as “one of the bands most likely to break out in 2021”.

Furthermore, in the last few years alone, ALIEN WEAPONRY has had the privilege of performing with the likes of Guns N’ Roses, Gojira, Slayer, Black Label Society and more.

ALIEN WEAPONRY are:
Henry Te Reiwhati de Jong – Drums, Backing vocals
Lewis Raharuhi de Jong – Guitars, Lead vocals
Tūranga Porowini Morgan-Edmonds – Backing vocals & guitar

EIVØR Signs with Season of Mist, New Album Coming in 2024

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 18, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: EIVØR. Leave a comment

Season of Mist is proud to welcome EIVØR to the label’s roster!

Eivør has come a long way. She was born and raised in Syðrugøta, a tiny coastal village on the northern part of the Faroe Islands. This icy and windswept backdrop still ripples behind her boundless vocals, which have led her to become one of the most acclaimed artists in the Nordic world.

Just like her inspirations Björk and Sigur Rós, Eivør has won the Icelandic Music Prize more than once, along with multiple Danish Music Folk Awards and the 2021 Nordic Council Music Prize. Her combination of dark electronica and Faroese folk have racked up close to a billion streams, sold out tours in Europe and the United States and soundtracked God of War Ragnarök and Netflix’s flagship series The Last Kingdom.

But don’t just take our word for it. Metal Hammer described her voice as “stunning, classically-trained…going from glorious to demonic in a flash”, while Prog compared her electronic beats and “spine-tingling” vocals to Portishead and Kate Bush.

“My team and I are incredibly proud and excited to work with Season of Mist,” Eivør says. “After a few years of self-releasing my music, I am very much looking forward to becoming part of the SOM family and to all the new adventures that lay ahead.

“We are equally thrilled to partner with Doomstar Bookings on all our upcoming live shows. An exciting run of 2024 concerts is coming soon!”

Be on the lookout for announcements about Eivør’s next album, which will come out in 2024.

Live band
Mikael Blak – Bass, synths
Mattias Kapnas – Piano, synths
Per Ingvaldur Højgaard Petersen – drums

EIVØR is an artist perfectly attuned to the savage vicissitudes of nature. Born & raised in Syðrugøta (population: 453), a tiny community on one of the northerly Faroe Islands, the singer-songwriter grew up surrounded by a harsh, windswept landscape and the North Atlantic, a rugged backdrop that has, unsurprisingly, deeply influenced the music she creates.

With ten studio albums under her belt, as well as numerous collaborations with artists including Àsgeir, John Grant, Einar Selvik (Wardruna) and Dan Heath (Lana Del Ray) Eivør can be considered to be one of the most eclectic artists of the Nordics and one of the most mesmerizing live vocalists of her generation.

The winner of the 2021 Nordic Council Music prize and awarded twice with the Icelandic Music Price, multiple Danish Music Folk Awards, as well as the Faroese Music Award, Eivør is part of a new wave of Nordic artists rapidly building passionate international fan bases with music that honours their ancient cultural & musical folklore. At last count, Eivør’s music has been streamed close to 1 billion times and she has been playing sell out tours in both Scandinavia, Europe and the US.

Eivør also soundtracks and features on all seasons of the flagship Netflix hit series The Last Kingdom (co-written with Ivor Novello/BAFTA-nominated John Lunn.)

The new official The Last Kingdom album ‘Destiny Is All’ – written and produced by John Lunn, Eivør and Danny Saul, was released earlier this year. Eivør also recently featured on the God of War Ragnarök score and on the soundtrack to the hit video game and performed at the 10 year Game Awards anniversary show at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in June.

Eivør is currently working on a new album, to be released in 2024.

NEW MODEL ARMY Unleash New Album “Sinfonia”, Out Now

NEW MODEL ARMY’s ‘Sinfonia’ has arrived, and it’s the album they’ve spent a lifetime working towards. It is a triumph in every sense of the word.

From the opening fully orchestral ‘Overture’ – which gently sets the mood before launching full-throttle into ‘Devils Bargain’ – to the closing of ‘Wonderful Way To Go’, it’s an album full of highlights. Performed with Sinfonia Leipzig, conducted by Cornelius During, and arranged by long-time friend and guest-violinist Shir-Ran Yinon, it is a unique take on the band-plus-orchestra approach, yet somehow, distinctly New Model Army.

Once again, the band who have made a career of existing outside the confines of genre take something tried and tested before dismantling and assembling it again in their image.

Sinfonia” is available as a double-CD hardcover Media-book, triple 180g vinyl gatefold, digital download and streaming. All first print CD and vinyl LP editions include the full show on DVD.

A strictly limited earBOOK edition with double-CD, DVD, Blu-ray, 80-page book and an exclusive bonus CD with 8 songs from the band’s SO36 show in Berlin on July 17th 2022, as well as various bundles are available via an exclusive direct to consumer web shop.

Norwegian EUNOMIA Release New Single ‘Another Dimension’, New Album Out Now

Norwegian adventure power metallers EUNOMIA released their sophomore full-length “The Chronicles of Eunomia Part II” on Rockshots Records on September 15th. The band has already previewed two singles off the album “The Story Goes On” and “My Heart” earlier this summer. To kick off their album’s release, they are sharing a new music video for the track “Another Dimension”. It’s a fun and top-notch energy boost song on the album. It is one of the band’s favourites as it has a lot of high-power metal screams, a keyboard solo, plus a catchy chorus. The song tells the confrontation between the allies and a dark wizard called Dorgormir to claim the staff to open portals to the realm of the dead. The band explains further:

“With this song, we wanted to go back to the glory days of bands such as Gamma Ray and Freedom Call, while still putting in some more aggressive “modern” approach as well. We wanted it to be a huge singalong song, but with an epic bridge section that really makes the vocalists shine with some insanely high pitch vocals.”

Recommended for fans of Rhapsody Of Fire, Twilight Force, Dragonforce, Freedom Call, and Hammerfall, “The Chronicles of Eunomia Part II” is now available from Rockshots Records as of September 15, 2023, at the following link – https://bit.ly/Eunomia2

Presenting epic, bombastic, fast, powerful fantasy through their compositions, this second record from Eunomia is a group effort, as the first full-length was completely written by band founder, vocalist, and keyboardist Peter Danielsen. Joined by his brother Marius Danielsen (Legend of Valley Doom), bassist Alexander Ormseth, guitarist Magnar Winther Skorgenes, and drummer Alessandro Kelvin (Perc3ption), the tracks on this new offering are more powerful and stronger than before with much more variety than their first effort.

“The Chronicles of Eunomia Part II” also features guests Alessandro Conti (Twilight Force), Arnaud Ménard (Alkemyst), Jimmy Hedlund (Falconer), Matt Krais (ShadowStrike), Ty Christian (Lords of The Trident), Mikael Dahl (Crystal Eyes), Olaf Hayer (Luca Turilli’s band, Dionysus), and Anders Sköld (Veonity). Overall, this second full-length has everything from power and symphonic metal elements to contagious choruses, fast double bass drums, and even slow epic songs that fit the storytelling perfectly.

“Everyone in the band has helped shape the new album. We worked hard to get this album the way it sounds. Re-written parts on many songs to make them as perfect as we could. I think the fans will hear that the band has evolved and become better, tighter, and more creative than on the first album. Better melodies, better songwriting, and even more epic than ever. We have leveled up significantly on this album. I believe this album is 10x better than the first one and I think the choruses will be stuck in the minds of fans and I hope they press the replay button many times after listening to it for the first time.” adds Peter Danielsen.

Marius Danielsen also adds:

“As the mixing and mastering engineer for this album, I must say it has been quite a journey. My brother and I have worked closely together on this album for about two years. Learning new mixing tricks and carefully carving out space for every single instrument in a dense mix consisting of 250 tracks or so per song has been a cool process to be part of. I think we managed to create an epic-sounding Power Metal album full of glorious melodies and memorable hooks.”

Not slowing down, the band is already in the works for writing “The Chronicles of Eunomia Part 3” and looks forward to performing live.

“I can’t wait to bring back Eunomia as a live band again now that most of us live in the same city again. We will try to tell the story of Eunomia with great energy, perfect performances, amazing guest artists, and awesome setlists.”
