East Bay thrash metal legends SADUS will make their long-awaited return this fall for the release of their first album in 16 years, The Shadow Inside, on November 17th via Nuclear Blast Records. Reunited in 2017, the band spent the last several years writing the record at their own pace, impervious to outside trends and influences, and recently finished recording with Juan Urteaga (EXODUS, TESTAMENT, MACHINE HEAD) at Trident Studios.

Featuring ominous artwork by accomplished artist Travis Smith (FLESHGOD APOCALPYSE, OPETH), The Shadow Inside, is a contemporary thrash classic with colossal, groove-laden riffs at break-neck rhythm and blistering solos. It’s the record fans have been waiting desperately for and one of the year’s most crucial metal albums.

The Shadow Inside Track List:

  1. First Blood
  2. Scorched And Burnt
  3. It’s The Sickness
  4. Ride The Knife
  5. Anarchy
  6. The Devil In Me
  7. Pain
  8. No Peace
  9. New Beginnings
  10. The Shadow Inside

Commenting on the record’s impending release, founding vocalist/guitarist Darren Travis says:
“I am giddy with excitement for this album to be unleashed upon the world. With the help of the entire Nuclear Blast team, we will bestow a hugely anticipated release of The Shadow Inside!!  THANK YOU for your interest in our little band for all these years. I hope you will find the same release of excitement that WE DO!! The love of METAL is the only reason for SADUS!! Thank you ALL for the undying SUPPORT!!!! Fucking SADUS!!”

SADUS unleashed the first single, ‘It’s The Sickness,’ late last year. Today, the band has unveiled the record’s next track, ‘Ride The Knife,’ which is available now for streaming and is accompanied by the lyric video below.

About SADUS:

It has been sixteen long years since the monstrous sound of SADUS last bestowed a new record upon the world, but the time has finally arrived. This November, Nuclear Blast Records proudly presents the triumphant return of the unconquerable SADUS with their sixth full-length studio album, titled The Shadow Inside.

Adorned with the compelling artwork of Travis Smith, the album cover depicts an all-consuming demon of the cosmos fiercely enveloping a tortured soul beneath, perfectly encapsulating the vision and duality that the songs on this record deliver. Founder and drummer Jon Allen shares his excitement about working with Travis once again, reminiscing about their collaboration on Elements of Anger. He points out that several tracks on the new album, such as ‘The Devil In Me’ and ‘The Shadow Inside,’ revolve around the idea of an internal entity constantly pushing us. At times, one might find themselves at the edge of reason, attributing their actions to the shadow within, an external force they blame for their choices. While not a concept album per-se, every song deals with life decisions and the importance of taking responsibility for one’s actions to unlock the best life has to offer. The track ‘The Shadow Inside’ boasts a heavier and slower tone, with a touch of classic, gut-wrenching grind, creating a fitting climax to the album.

A formidable darkness flows through tracks like ‘Anarchy’. Evidently influenced by the tumultuous post-Covid times of mass hysteria, looting, and general loss of control, the melody reflects this chaotic environment. Allen describes the track as “more straightforward and in-your-face, hitting listeners right in the gut. ”Despite the intensity, SADUS manages to retain their signature death/thrash blend, staying true to their old-school roots. The aggression remains palpable, allowing their music to speak for itself with raw, unapologetic power.

‘Scorched and Burnt’ follows suit, with its steady beat and chaotic vocals seamlessly intertwining with blistering guitar work. The track gradually transitions into an impassioned melody, igniting a fiery explosion as the song nears its conclusion. Although inspired by the literal wildfires that plagued California during its creation, ‘Scorched and Burnt’ delves deeper into the idea that individuals often feel like someone or something is constantly out to get them. Yet, in the end, the song urges unity, recognizing that every action, even in chaos, ripples through the lives of others.

The process of creating The Shadow Inside was unhurried and unencumbered by unnecessary roadblocks. SADUS allowed their creativity to flow naturally, collecting riffs and writing together in person. The band took their time, nurturing and developing their musical ideas until they evolved into the powerful tracks we hear today. Allen emphasizes that their drama-free and family-oriented approach to making music is one of the reasons their sound speaks so powerfully to their fans. Collaborating with Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios added another layer of refinement to the album, as his expertise in death metal played a vital role in shaping its overall sound.

All that being said, SADUS is not a band that simply stands apart from the crowd for the sake of being different. They stand tall, unswayed by mass hysteria and media influences, choosing to make their own decisions and encourage others to do the same. In a world filled with disinformation and false flags, they emphasize the importance of being smart, using common sense, thinking for ourselves, and remaining aware of our surroundings.

As November approaches, the anticipation for The Shadow Inside is sure to grow. With their uncompromising vision, SADUS continues to stand as a beacon of authenticity and integrity within the heavy metal community, forever forging their path in the ever-evolving landscape of music.

FELLAHIN FALL Announce New EP “Urbana”, Out November 17th

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 3, 2023

Brooklyn’s lauded gothic metal quintet, FELLAHIN FALL, has announced plans to release their awaited next record, “Urbana,” on November 17th. The EP, mixed and mastered by Kevin Antreassian (The Dillinger Escape Plan), is a doom laden, gothic masterpiece that recalls legends like Type O Negative and Paradise Lost.

Recently the band released the record’s first single, “Bury Me,” which is accompanied by the music video below, as debuted by MetalSucks.net.

Commenting on the single, the band states:

“‘Bury Me” is our first truly ‘Urban Doom’ song. It thematically delves into our hubris and explores the overarching pride and overconfidence that often blinds us, and leads us down paths of self-destruction and regret. Through the song, the narrator engages in dialogue with a figure, believing he’s confronting death. The narrator is cocky and unrepentant, but ultimately and bitterly grasps that he’s actually talking with himself.“

FELLAHIN FALL’s new EP, follows their 2020 full-length debut, “Tar a-Kan,” and further explores the band’s signature “urban doom” sound, a gloomy fusion of doom metal with a modern and urban sonic aesthetic. In addition to the new single, “Bury Me,” the EP also features the band’s cover of Woods of Ypres song, “Everthing I Touch Turns To Gold (Then To Coal)” (produced by Drewsif).

Adding about the EP, the band says:

“‘Urbana’ is an EP that pivots Fellahin Fall towards a more intimate and personal direction. At moments, it’s whimsically tongue-in-cheek, and at points more crushing and raw. Drawing heavy inspiration from the legacy of gothic bands hailing from Brooklyn, this EP seeks to anchor listeners to a distinct place and moment in time. Every track is crafted to evoke emotions, bridging the gap between the past’s haunting melodies and the contemporary Urbana of NYC.”

“Urbana” Track List:
1. Grey Morning
2. The Parting
3. Bury Me
4. Everything I Touch Turns To Gold (Then To Coal)

Fans can catch FELLAHIN FALL on stage at upcoming East Coast gigs this fall.

FELLAHIN FALL Tour Dates:
Sept 7 – Brooklyn, NY – The Meadows
Oct 21 – Milton, DE – Brimming Horn Meadery
Oct 27 – Queens, NY – The Wild Goose
Nov 24 – Middletown, NY – Quinz Pinz
Nov 25 – Wallingford, CT – Cherry Street

About FELLAHIN FALL:
Fellahin Fall is a gothic-industrial metal band born out of the crushing urbana of Brooklyn, New York. Atavistic yet post-human, Fellahin Fall tells tales of an atomized man’s yearned escape from the Metropolis.

Formed in 2019, their debut album ‘Tar a-Kan‘ (2020) captivated critics and listeners alike. Metal Injection praises it as a “specific brand of gothic doom is the perfect soundtrack to a chilly, overcast morning,” while Metal Sucks lauds “A Fading Whisper” – the album’s gripping opener – as “…lumbering, billowing music with anguished, rotund vocals and haunting hooks to create something that’s sure to burrow under your skin. Seriously: you’re not gonna be able to shake this one off easily, and if your hair isn’t already jet black, it will be by the time this track is done. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.” No Clean Singing has called the music as something that will  “pound the back of your neck, but its darting keyboard tones and sweeping synth layers vividly spawn images of an isolated electronic entity in the midst of a vast and barren landscape.”

Anticipation builds for their forthcoming EP, “Urbana,” slated for release in Fall 2023. Mixed and Mastered by Kevin Antreassian (The Dillinger Escape Plan). This new release dives deeper into the 21st century, showcasing an innovative sound which they’ve dubbed as ‘Urban Doom’ – a gloomy fusion of doom metal with a modern and urban sonic aesthetic.

Having shared the stage with the likes of Swallow the Sun, Wilderun, Abigail Williams, and recently Fires in the Distance, Fellahin Fall’s lineup features songwriter Nodar Khutortsov, Patrick Reilly of Tengger Cavalry, drummer Eugene Bell and rhythm guitarist Raphael Pinsker of Fin’amor, and the bassist Mark Morrill.

CREAK Premiere New Music Video for ‘Hare in the Woods’

Newcastle, UK nu-metal / metalcore band CREAK are today premiering a new music video for Hare in the Woods via Metal Injection. Hare in the Woods is taken from the quartet’s recently released debut album, Depth Perception, which is available via Prosthetic Records.

WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR HARE IN THE WOODS VIA METAL INJECTION HERE.

Speaking on the premiere, CREAK vocalist Jack Dunn comments: “We feel like Hare In The Woods is the best song to sum up CREAK as a band, and we wanted to make sure that the video matched that feeling.

“Working with Murry Deaves was an opportunity for us to try something new and see how close we could get to incorporating all of those anxious feelings that inspired the song, and give us a chance to really capitalise on the old art-house horror influence. Murry really understood what we were trying to do, and we’re all stoked on how everything has come together. We’re really excited about the fact we’ve managed to do a video that feels like those old films.

“There were a lot of new elements in the filming process that were new to us and felt like a step up. This was our first time using real post-production effects, and the way Deaves was able to put some of the shots together felt like a movie. We shot everything over a day at Antwerp Mansion and it was a really great day for us to finish off the videos for the album.”

Speaking on the recently released Depth Perception, Dunn adds: “We can’t get across how much we appreciate the response we’ve had to the album so far, and it really means the world to us that people have taken the time to check it out. When we first started putting Depth Perception together we couldn’t have imagined that we’d be in the position we’re in now and that we’d have had as much support as we have.

“We’re finalising future shows at the moment, to make sure that when we tour the album it’s as big as possible and everyone who has supported us has a chance to see these songs at their best when live.”

The four piece from Newcastle set out initially to craft a new EP to follow on from 2020’s rapturously-received Bitter Picture vignette, but once writing was underway, the ideas kept on coming. Channeling the same furious vitriol found on their earlier singles and the EP, CREAK managed to push their boundaries further still – finding room for experimentation within their chaotic vision. Citing influences such as Yüth Forever and Sworn In, their background in hardcore is rarely far from view, but eerie Lynchian interludes, clean vocals and metallic sensibilities contribute additional layers that elevate their sound.

Lyrically and thematically the tracks are saturated with pure emotion, fuelled by – amongst other things – the anguish that accompanied Dunn’s mother’s journey with cancer. Using CREAK as an outlet for  processing his feelings during that time, he adds: “I was feeling guilty about my own emotions, and going over things in a circle in my own head trying to get to a point where I could try to become comfortable with them.” Finding it easier to work through his feelings through his lyrics than to verbalise in ‘real life’, Depth Perception is something of an anthology of dread, pain, mortality – and hope.

The album took shape over several months between 2021 and 2022, with Connor Sweeney (formerly of Loathe) reprising the role he took on for Bitter Picture, producing, mixing and mastering the twelve blistering tracks. The live recording achieves the near-impossible task of capturing the frenetic, unbridled vigor of their live show; their angular metalcore punctuating an eerie soundscape permeated with anxious energy. With high hopes and boundless enthusiasm, CREAK are gathering pace as an unstoppable force.

Depth Perception tracklist:
1. Crossroads
2. Hare in the Woods
3. An Endless Black
4. Doomed
5. Restless Dreams
6. Harrow
7. Left to Heaven
8. Depth Perception
9. The Early Hours Know My Secrets
10. Cold Shoulder
11. I’m Not Alone in the Dark
12. A Head Full of Rain

INFERNALIZER Releases Video for New Single ‘What We Do In The Shadows’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 3, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: INFERNALIZER. Leave a comment

Infernalizer is the brand new creature conceived and brought to life by the creative mind of Claudio Ravinale to portray his own take on the heavy metal genre. Ravinale is best known as the vocalist of Italian death metal veterans Disarmonia Mundi, who has achieved worldwide recognition with their high-octane melo-death throughout two decades and featuring Bjorn “Speed” Strid (Soilwork) among their ranks, along with being in other recognizable bands such as The Silverblack, 5 Star Grave and The Stranded.

Heavily influenced by 80’s metal acts such as Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, and Danzig, Ravinale‘s new project Infernalizer relies on the use of gloomy keys and eerie samples, paying homage to more somber gothic rock acts like Type O Negative and The Sisters Of Mercy. Vocally closer to contemporary acts like Rob Zombie and Wednesday 13, the range of influences also includes evocative cinematographic soundscapes that provide Infernalizer‘s songs with a more solemn and nocturnal atmosphere.

Ready to follow up the 2021 debut album “The Ugly Truth”, Infernalizer presents the new full-length “After Dark” set to be unleashed in October 2023 via Rockshots Records.

Constantly balancing between aggressive moments and gothic atmospheres properly supported by deep crooning vocals and more irate outbursts. This new record is deeply rooted in 80’s metal and often prone to arena rock choruses, sets an eerie and nocturnal mood especially when it comes to the use of keyboards, often reminiscent of classic horror movie themes.

The desire to go towards more gothic rock territories on this new offering is fully represented by tracks like “Death Wish”, “This Is My Yard” or “Falling In Slow Motion”, while the planned-to-be-released singles “What Did You Expect?” and “What We Do In The Shadows” (both mastered at Sterling Sound Studio in Nashville by legendary Grammy-winning mastering engineer Ted Jensen) are open-heart love letters to 80’s hard rock. There’s no shortage of bangers as well with songs like “The Dark Passenger”, “Moon of Blood” or the title track providing the more muscular edge of the album.

Infernalizer frontman Claudio Ravinale comments:

“People that loved the previous album are gonna dig this new one because we basically took our time to refine the formula, focus properly on how we wanted the record to sound, and had a starting point to evolve from. Usually with the first album you simply take a leap in the dark and see how it goes, with the second one you already have a layer of bricks to build on and that’s exactly what we did. This is pure and simple entertainment. I’m not here to preach, I’m not here to make the world a better place, I simply want people to have a good time listening to this music, nothing else.”

Today, Infernalizer presents the new video for the second single “What We Do In The Shadows”.

“Right after we finished writing “WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?”, the band wrote this one and as soon as it was finished we immediately decided it was going to be the second single. It somewhat mirrors on the B side of the vinyl what “WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?” does on the A-side. It has been mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound Studio in Nashville as well. While the intro of the track might have a little Ghost vibe it was originally intended as a tribute to Deep Purple. As soon as the song kicks in the whole 80s metal vibe explodes again into another modern-day tribute to what is widely considered the best era of metal and hard rock. The chorus clearly represents the intention to write an arena rock-style anthem to sing with fists in the air, the lyrics focus on the inner fascination with the darker sides of human nature. If you dig Ghost, Lordi, Wednesday 13, and Alice Cooper this one is for you!” adds Ravinale.
