Australian-based industrial rock heavyweights A SOMERSET PARADE are back in 2023 with a recent signing to the hard-hitting, Italian record label Wormholedeath. Together they will bring the fans of the band the long-awaited sophomore album CARCOSA.
Inspired by the 1895 cult classic book of short horror stories ‘The King In Yellow’ by Robert W. Chambers, CARCOSA is a dark collection of tales that exist in both reality and nightmares.
With over four years in development, the band have experimented and evolved not only their writing process but also their sound. Numerous rewrites, personal loss, adversity, and even a pandemic have all served to turn this defining album into the sonic masterpiece it is today.

Biography:
A Somerset Parade are an industrial rock band from Brisbane, Australia. Formed in 2015 and starting life as a pop punk/easy-core band, they released their debut EP ‘Bright Young Things’ in 2016, followed by the full-length album ‘Against All Odds’ in 2017.
The first single from their ‘Bright Young Things’ EP, ‘Next Life’ debuted on Australia’s Triple J Unearthed charts at number one, and remained there for three consecutive weeks with the accompanying film clip being featured on MTV’s Hits program. In July 2017 the band released the singles ‘Information Age ‘ and ‘Raise your Glass’ from their debut album and were nominated for industry awards in their home state of Queensland as well as New South Wales.
A Somerset Parade followed the release of the album with their ‘Ruins of This World’ tour in early 2018. This tour included Australian cities and regional towns and finished with three weeks in Europe (including Austria and Ukraine) playing to capacity crowds as well as a slot at the Noppen-Air Musik Festival in Austria.
In their time as a band, A Somerset Parade has had the good fortune to have supported artists such as Unwritten Law, Strung Out, Death By Stereo, Zebrahead, Guttermouth, Custard, Phil Jamieson, Butterfingers, and many more national and international acts.
In mid-2019 the band released the single ‘Clementine’ which was a departure from their pop-punk/easy-core beginnings. The response was overwhelmingly positive to their heavier sound and ‘Clementine’ garnered regular airplay on both national and international radio stations. The accompanying film clip also debuted on ABC Australia’s long-running music program, Rage. The following year the single was also nominated as a finalist in the ‘Heavy’ category of the 2020 Queensland Music Awards.
On the 17th of June 2021, the band released the single ‘Alpha’ from their upcoming album ‘CARCOSA’ and cemented their darker, heavier direction. The single and accompanying film clip debuted to much acclaim and saw the band being recognized again by the Queensland Music Awards.
With the band signing to hard-hitting Italian record label Wormholedeath, A Somerset Parade is looking forward to bringing their fans the long-awaited sophomore album ‘CARCOSA’ and becoming fully fledged members of the Wormholedeath family.

The upcoming album,Jailbreak, marks a decisive start of a new era in the band’s history, as it’s the first NERVOSA album with guitarist and founding member Prika Amaral on vocal duties, and showcasing the mighty new lineup completed by the immensely talented and well experienced Michaela Naydenova on drums, Hel Pyre on bass and Helena Kotina on guitars.

Breaking through barriers like an unstoppable steamroller, full-speed thrash outfit NERVOSA present their new studio album, entitled Jailbreak! With their previous record, Perpetual Chaos (2.8M plays on Spotify), NERVOSA not only secured their first chart positions (#18 GER Official Album Charts, #6 US Hard Music Albums, #9 US Top New Artist Albums charts), but also performed at some of Europe’s biggest festivals, such as Copenhell, Resurrection, MetalDays, Summer Breeze, Wacken Open Air, and many more.
Prika Amaral on the album: “I’m very happy with the result of how our new album turned out. This time, we were able to take even more risks and do new things. With two guitars the doors open to a whole new world of possibilities, in fact NERVOSA had two guitars in the beginning, but then we decided to go with one guitar for logistical reasons, since it would be easier to move with one less person for tours. Now NERVOSA has a much bigger structure that allowed this addition, and we are really enjoying this moment of the band. The process of writing this record was the most fun and brought the most musicality, enriching the band.
Helena Kotina adds: “I think Jailbreak is NERVOSA‘s most revolutionary record, both musically and lyrically. It was a very challenging process but at the same time very constructive. We were able to take care of every detail until we obtained the best result”
Among its various themes, Jailbreak explores messages of breaking free from everyone and everything holding you back from doing exactly what you want to do. It encourages the listener to be proud of who they are, and to trust in themselves and the strength that lies within them. The album kicks off with charging “Endless Ambition”, a track previously released in early 2023 that acted as a first harbinger for everything that is about to come on the album. The track immediately showcases the incredibly powerful attitude and talent of Amaral as frontwoman. Raging “Suffocare”, which deals with several aspects of toxic relationships, and “Ungrateful” continue on the path of the intense opening track. As a very special treat, NERVOSA spices up the intense track “When The Truth Is A Lie” with none other than an impressive guest contribution from legendary EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt, whilst INFECTED RAIN/DEATH DEALER UNION vocalist Lena Scissorhands provides another strong guest feature by lending her voice on “Superstition Failed”. “Elements of Sin” features some of the album’s most insane guitar work and thundering vocals, before uncontrollable closing track “Nail The Coffin” seals the 13-track album with a forceful thrash banger.

Ohio-based old-school thrash outfit WAR CURSE will unleash their third full-length, Confession, on October 20th via Blacklight Media!
Having built a devout fan base for their thrash-oriented metallic attack starting with 2015’s Final Days and cemented with 2019’s Eradication, WAR CURSE returns in 2023 a more refined animal. In fact, it could be argued that the ten tracks of Confession stand as WAR CURSE‘s Black Album, having the courage to move beyond what they’re known for and to focus on songwriting, groove, dynamics, and melody, without compromising on muscle one iota.
“We experimented with new sounds, old sounds, took in new influences, old influences, and let the songs come together as organically as possible,” notes guitarist Justin Roth. “As far as our current direction, the music we consume is all over the map, a lot of it way outside of the metal sphere. I hear bands doing new, interesting things with their music and I want to be able to do the same with mine. If I lose my thrash card for it, oh well, I’ll hand in my battle vest.”
With extensive touring plans in 2020 falling apart due to the pandemic, WAR CURSE spent several months in purgatory before deciding to dust off their instruments and start writing a new album. With the uncertainty of not knowing if they would ever get a chance to play music again, it was speculated that this could be the band’s swan song. With the world in a strange place, motivation came and went, reflecting the tumultuous day to day change in information. This led to the writing process taking a year however it was time well spent.
“We demo recorded every song two or three times, picked them apart, edited them, and then rehearsed them in a room together. We allowed the process of collaboration and experimentation to take us wherever the wave carried us. Compared to previous releases, we were a lot more critical of ourselves during the writing and recording of this album. We set out to make an album in the truest sense of the word, not just a collection of songs.”
This is very much apparent when listening to Confession, from the agitated, muscular title track with its widescreen chorus, to the driving “Power Of The Powerless,” or the equal parts triumphant and steamrolling “Sowing Division,” every track standing on its own while taking its place in the overall picture. A major aspect in pushing their sound forward is the vocal contributions of Blaine Gordon, who emanates confidence in ways he has not previously. “On Eradication, Blaine replaced our previous vocalist in the studio, on very short notice, and mimicked what was already written. This was the first time he got to add his creative input. He pushed us in a more melodic direction, and [guitarist Joshua] Murphy and I backed him up with guitar parts that felt harmonious with his vision. Likewise, when a part called for heavy or dirty vocals, Blaine returned the favor tenfold.”
In advance of the release of Confession, today the band unveils the record’s first single, “Miracle Broker,” and its accompanying video. A hard hitting, vibey, melodic stampede that throws back to the band’s hardcore roots, “Miracle Broker” takes on shady televangelists. Manipulative figureheads create mass psychosis through masterfully crafted brainwashing campaigns and suckers fall into the trap.
Elaborates Roth, “‘Miracle Broker’ is an unapologetic knife to the chest of corrupt religious figureheads, masquerading as modern day Gods. For years I’ve tried to disguise my hardcore roots, keeping our songwriting far away from outside influences. ‘Miracle Broker’ is the result of breaking that rule and writing a song for myself, not for an audience. It’s moody, it’s heavy, it gets straight to the point, and it’s catchy as all hell. Consider it ‘crossover reimagined.’“
All songs on Confession were recorded, mixed, and mastered by Neil Tuuri at Amish Electric Chair Studios. The album art, layout, design, and photography were handled by Justin Roth. As an added bonus, the record includes a cover of Grip Inc.‘s “Rusty Nail.” Notes Roth, “Covering ‘Rusty Nail’ was our way of honoring our former bassist Jason Vie Brooks (Grip Inc., Exhorder). Blaine was tasked with filling the massive shoes of late Grip Inc. vocalist Gus Chambers, and the remaining band members agree that he did so with flying colors.“
