WEREWOLVES Share Visualizer for ‘Brace for Impact’, New Album Out Now

Australia’s angriest, WEREWOLVES have today released their fourth album, My Enemies Look and Sound Like Me, via Prosthetic Records. The death metal trio’s latest full-length is an uncompromising slab of extreme metal brutality, featuring songs that rage against the metal scene, themselves, nuclear destruction and abuses of power. WEREWOLVES continue their foray into the live circuit in October, on the Tech Trek Australia tour – with more details below.

Stream My Enemies Look and Sound Like Me via Apple Music | TIDAL | Deezer | Bandcamp and Spotify
Order My Enemies Look and Sound Like Me here.

Speaking on the album release, bassist/vocalist Sam Bean (also of The Antichrist Imperium, The Berzerker) comments: “EAT BLASTBEATS YOU FUCKING SKIDMARKS. WEREWOLVES triumphantly crawls up your urinary tract to hatch our fourth album, My Enemies Look and Sound Like Me, in your bladder.”

Contemplating the release, Bean continues: “Sorry, that came out wrong. We’re overjoyed to humbly offer our fourth release for your enjoyment. We trust that you’ll find that we’ve continued the run of growth and quality that we’ve become known for, and won’t disappoint any of you. We hope that you find this album a refreshing and enlightening listen that brings you endless joy. The satisfaction of our fans is paramount. We love you. We love all of you.”

Finally adding: “…shitcunts.”

My Enemies Look And Sound Like Me is the mature effort of a band approaching the midpoint of both their career and their lives, fine-tuning audio violence and desperate to leave nothing on the table before the hormones fade and dementia kicks in. Opener Under The Ground is an apoplectic death metal middle finger to the genre and all involved within it. Title track My Enemies Look And Sound Like Me demonstrates that the band have absolutely no intention of slowing down at all, while Destroyer Of Worlds is a slow creepfest that makes a lie of the previous sentence. Elsewhere, songs like Brace For Impact and Neanderhell demonstrate that WEREWOLVES are only getting more rabid with age – the BPM is appropriately crazed WEREWOLVES fare.

Mixing and mastering was handled, as always, by Joe Haley (Psycroptic), and the artwork is a remarkable simulacrum of modern social media discourse by long time collaborator Mitchell Nolte, and depicts two frenzied opposing groups of people massacring each other and themselves in a screaming horrified rage.

My Enemies Look and Sound Like Me tracklist:
1. Under the Ground
2. My Enemies Look and Sound Like Me
3. Bring To Me The Kill
4. Brace For Impact
5. Destroyer of Worlds
6. Neanderhell
7. I Hate Therefore I Am
8. I Knew Nothing Then and I Know Less Now
9. Do Not Hold Me Back

Upcoming WEREWOLVES tour dates:

Tech Trek Australia w/ Archspire and Ingested
11 October – The Zoo – Brisbane, Australia
12 October – The Basement – Canberra, Australia
13 October – Factory Theater – Sydney, Australia
14 October – The Corner – Melbourne, Australia

Finnish KHIRAL Release New Single ‘Versions Of Reality’

Death/thrash metal band KHIRAL from Helsinki, Finland releases their new single “Versions Of Reality” after a few years of silence. They released their second full-length album “Shards” on August 6, 2021. On that album the band took huge leaps forward in terms of composition, melodies and even lyrics compared to their debut album “Chained”. Despite the quiet life the band has not rested on its laurels. They have been working on new music and the lineup has found its shape for live shows.

“The band is doing currently quite well. We have been concentrated on making new music and we plan to release more new stuff this autumn. It’s been a few years since the last album, so it’s about time. The line-up is now in its final form with the addition of our new drummer Teemu Hass!” – Tuomo Vänskä, vocalist

“Versions Of Reality” is completely recognizable Khiral -song. Although the song’s arrangement and lyrics are more straightforward than before. The new normal in world today is different versions of the truth that Tuomo Vänskä handle in his lyrics.

The intention was to go in a slightly different direction in terms of composition than our previous albums. Without forgetting the certain type of weight and melodiousness of Khiral, that is familiar from our previous albums. On the riffs, I aimed to a certain kind of majesty and grandiosity. But at the same time a certain kind of flow and hard pounding” – Sami Lehtonen, guitar

“Versions Of Reality is a story of a person who is in the middle of a change. It is told from the point of view of the individual and not from a general point of view. For this person the change is terrifying. It is actually worse than death. The change leads to different versions of reality. And each version is equally real to the person experiencing it” – Tuomo Vänskä, vocalist

Khiral’s goal is to bring their music to a larger audience by playing concerts and releasing new material. If Children of Bodom, Amorphis, The Halo Effect, and Hypocrisy crash, then Khiral will likely crash as well

BLINDSTONE Unleash New Album “Scars To Remember”, Out Now

BLINDSTONE are proud to announce the release of their new album ”Scars To Remember”, today. After being the best-kept secret within the heavy side of blues rock, as part of the “closed” blues scene for two decades, the band has moved to Mighty Music and is finally getting the recognition they deserve.

”Scars To Remember” is the tenth album from the Danish-based blues power trio, which has its stylistic roots in the late ’60s and ’70s, with inspiration from bands/artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, and others.

“Scars To Remember” is out today on CD and digital formats via Mighty Music. Orders are available here.

“Scars To Remember” tracklist:

1. Embrace The Sky
2. A Scar To Remember
3. Down For The Count
4. Waste Your Time
5. Drums Of War
6. Drifting Away
7. In The Eye Of The Storm
8. The Fields Of Bethel
9. Shining On Through
10. World Weary Blues

Formed more than two decades ago and having played countless shows in those years, Blindstone hit it hard in the US, due to their sound, and released most of their albums on the American label Grooveyard Records. Despite the long run, the band saw a turning point in their career when, in 2020, they were hired as the backing band for the blues legend Walter Trout, for a series of successful concerts around Denmark. This experience was a factor in inspiring the band to seek a slightly more direct and basic stylistic approach on their new album. The blues influence is particularly obvious in songs such as ”Down For The Count”, ”Waste Your Time” and ”World Weary Blues”.

Blindstone has always worn its influences on its sleeves, and ”Scars To Remember” does indeed contain obvious tips of the hat to influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Trout, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Gales, Jeff Healey, and others.

As always with Blindstone, Andersen’s guitar work is a focal point, as is the tight ensemble playing of the band – for example, the instrumental ”The Fields Of Bethel” comes to mind – but the band’s lyrical universe has reached new levels of seriousness and depth in the band’s new collaboration with Swedish lyricist Peter Svensson, who contributed lyrics to a large part of the album. The major concerns of recent years, with a global pandemic and war in Europe, have led the band’s lyrics in a more serious, soul-searching direction, as illustrated by songs like ”A Scar To Remember”, ”Drums Of War” and ”Drifting Away”. In other words, there are no stripper poles, hot-rodded cars, or silver dollar coins to be found in the lyrics, this time around.

”Scars To Remember” is a strong entry in Blindstone’s extensive discography, and should appeal to fans of the band’s previous releases, the aforementioned artists, and fans of heavy, blues-based rock in general.

Lineup:
Martin Jepsen Andersen – guitars/vocals
Jesper Vegeberg Bunk – bass
Sigurd Jøhnk-Jensen – drums

“You Better Run is an energetic rock/metal song with a powerful heavy riff, exploding drums, and bluesy crowley vocals! I wrote the lyrics of this song picturing a man who is choked by the environment around him and he finally explodes! In this song, this depressing environment is pictured as a man, a tyrant, that is controlling and pressing the main character’s life…That pressure leads to his personal revolution and reverses the whole situation. The main character now seeks and destroys everything that chained him and sets himself free! You Better Run is a song that is driving every human to break all the things that chain him. It’s a calling for freedom!”

“Thrown into the Void is a very fast song, with a lot of blast beats, skanks and tremolo riffs, “an old school Melodic Death Metal song” you could say… speed, melodies, blasts, growls… a little touch of clean vocals and a simple but melodic guitar solo… that’s what my doctor recommended me these days 😉“

JORDSJØ Reveal “Salighet” Album Details + New Single ‘Sankeren’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on August 12, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: JORDSJØ. Leave a comment

Norwegian Prog Rockers JORDSJØ are back with a brand new studio album that sees the duo continue on a musical journey that is inspired by Nordic jazz and folk music, classical 1900s music, and sensory expanding 60s and 70s rock.

Titled “Salighet”,  the album will be the fourth full-length work from multi-instrumentalist Håkon Oftung (TUSMØRKE, BLACK MAGIC, THE CHRONICLES OF FATHER ROBIN) and drummer KRISTIAN FRØLAND, and it promises to be one of the most significant Prog albums of 2023, melding progressive rock with fantastic melodies and an added Folkish twist for good measure.

Whilst waiting for the 6 October release of “Salighet”, Karisma Records have released “Sankeren” a single taken from the album, which can be streamed or downloaded from a variety of services at https://link.karismarecords.no/Jordsjo_Sankeren

According to JORDSJØ, “Sankeren”, which translated means “The Harvester”, is a short-form fairytale about a group of travelers who meet a figure who lives only from what he can harvest. As the band explains:

The song is a tribute to living life, and all the things one gathers on one’s journey. Sankeren lives outside society, but is filled with knowledge and inner richness. The music builds on the story – starting and ending with the same theme, while the hectic middle part simulates the effect of the tea Sankeren serves to the visitors before they wake up in a house filled with artifacts from an unknown time.

Within the album itself, JORDSJØ continue their musical journey, scaling the  heights and plunging into the abysses as they go, because with “Salighet” the band explores different forms of ecstasy through compositions and lyrics. It could take the shape of dance, a mountain hike, a fairytale, religious pondering or other kinds of inner travels, all enveloped by a colourful symphonic folk-rock sound.

With its grand dynamics and dramatics, the music of “Salighet”  serves as a counterpoint to the mundane everyday existence, and expresses a longing for mystery and alternate realities.

Mastered by Magnus Guldbrandsen at Jelöy Sound Mastering, and with artwork by Sindre Foss Skancke, track listing for  “Salighet”  is as follows:

01. Invokasjon
02. Sankeren
03. Salighet I
04. Salighet II
05. Ura
06. Danseritualer fra Jordsjø – Prosesjon & Ekstase
07. Stjernestigen

“Salighet”  will be released in CD, Digital, LP, and Limited Edition Transparent vinyl formats, and is now available to pre-order from:
