Ambassador of melancholic metal, Segmentia releases “Nuclear Sun”, the second single from its upcoming debut album. The song plays with contrasts: delicate guitars give way to epic soundscapes while moods of hope and despair alternate. Almost cinematic and built on power metal foundations, the song is a tribute to songwriter Jere Luokkamäki’s years with Celesty.
“For me as a composer, Nuclear Sun was the moment I stopped being cautious about my power metal background”, says Luokkamäki.
“I laid the foundation for the song on a work trip to Kajaani. The wintry surroundings of the small town and the soldiers on the streets once again got me thinking about the state of the world and how we treat this planet. At times humanity seems determined to bring disaster upon itself, and that is the feeling I wanted to bring into the song”, Luokkamäki continues.
The band’s trademark melancholy strongly colours the universal message of Nuclear Sun.
“Jere’s song was clearly an ode to nature, and it fell to me to finish the unfinished lyrics. The melody is at times almost cheerful, but it is above all the lyrics that underline the deep despair that so often consumes me as well”, says the band’s vocalist Kansana, who took part in writing the lyrics.
The performance video for the song is the band’s first of its kind and, at the same time, the second part of an audiovisual trilogy. Visually understated yet striking, the video successfully captures the band’s look and presence on stage.
“The setting of the video continues to root the band in the atmosphere of Southern Ostrobothnia. In Before the Dawn, the first music video of the trilogy, dawn was only just breaking. Now the core of the sun blazes in the sky at full force in the Nuclear Sun video, leaving no one untouched”, comments Tomi Salminen / Tojusa Media Oy, producer of the music video.
With this release, Segmentia showcases another side of its musical identity. The song is now available on all streaming platforms, and the music video can be watched on the band’s YouTube channel.

Edi Žorž joins CELTIC HILLS: a new international chapter begins
In 2026, CELTIC HILLS welcome Slovenian guitarist Edi Žorž as the band’s new lead guitarist, adding his experience, technical ability and deep connection with traditional heavy metal to the group’s evolving sound.
For nearly two decades, Žorž has been one of the most respected musicians in the Slovenian metal scene.
Born on May 26, 1982, in Slovenia, he began his musical journey with Fosgen, before becoming guitarist for Nova Gorica thrash metal band Keller. He later expanded his artistic path through Shutdown, while becoming a key member of Madbringer, the tribute band dedicated to legendary Slovenian heavy metal pioneers Pomaranča.
His connection with Pomaranča reached a major milestone in 2024, when he was invited to perform as surprise guitarist during the band’s 45th anniversary reunion concert at Kino Šiška in Ljubljana. Sharing the stage with founding guitarist Mijo Popovič, Žorž received strong recognition from the Slovenian music community, which celebrated his performance as the contribution of the “sixth horseman” of the legendary band.
His arrival represents more than a lineup change: it strengthens the artistic bridge between the Italian and Slovenian metal scenes and brings a new dimension to the CELTIC HILLS sound.
“I Am Vril”: a new sound from Los Angeles
The first result of this new era is the powerful new single “I Am Vril”.
The track was recorded and produced in Los Angeles by Eddy Cavazza, producer, recording engineer and founder of Silent Ghost International, a creative reality operating between Italy and the United States.
Cavazza’s experience in the rock and metal world includes production work with several international artists and bands, bringing his expertise in sound production and his cinematic approach to the new CELTIC HILLS release.
“I Am Vril” represents a new step forward for the band: a song where epic storytelling, emotional intensity and heavy metal power meet a modern international production.
The track preserves the unmistakable CELTIC HILLS identity while introducing a renewed energy shaped by the new lineup.

Beyond Seventh Dimension is an atmospheric metal project from Finland that started as a one-man instrumental project in 2025 and quickly escalated. Vocals were added to the concept right after the first song, and suddenly there was talk of an EP or a full-length album. Now there is an album, and there has also been talk of making a proper band out of this at some point, but time will tell.

”’It’s All Dark Now Where Your Eyes Used To Be” is about coming to terms with the realization that death comes for us all”, Wailin Storms vocalist and guitarist Justin Storms says. “I started writing this song when I was in Belgium, after I saw an old church that looked like a skull. It’s the last song on The Arsonist and is very spare and sad, but there’s also a sliver of hope. Life is temporary and that’s where its beauty lies”.

Since migrating to North Carolina’s inland coast circa 2014, Wailin Storms have caught fire with noisy, bluesy explosions of Southern gothic rock. Hot on the heels of critical high praise and thunderous applause from crowds on both sides of the Atlantic, the band’s fifth album and first for Season of Mist fans their flames with reckless abandon. While surrounded by darkness from the outside world, The Arsonist burns with all of our heart’s desires.
“I’ve always been fascinated by fire”, Wailin Storms vocalist and guitarist Justin Storms says before alluding to a time when he came dangerously close to accidentally burning his family’s house down. “It speaks to our inherent attraction to danger and annihilation, but also, our hope for transformation”.
Born the son of a church pianist and Baptist preacher, Justin Storms converted to the church of rock ‘n’ roll after listening to the teachings of his older brother. “He was responsible for getting me into outsider music”. After forming Wailin Storms in his home state of Texas and a pass through New York City, Storms hunkered down in Durham, North Carolina, where he was joined in 2014 by the band’s current drummer Mark Oates (Bats & Mice) and bassist Steve Stanczyk.
Debut full-length One Foot in the Flesh Grave laid a solid foundation for Wailin Storms in 2015 with an East Coast and Midwest tour that led to their first appearance at The Fest. 2017 follow-up Sick City infected more ears with coverage spreading from CVLT Nation to NPR. It was their third album, though, that really opened the floodgates. Rattle was featured by The Needle Drop and named one of the best albums of 2020 by Treble, Riff Magazine, Angry Metal Guy and Machine Music. More attention from Decibel and Metal Hammer came two years later around The Silver Snake Unfolds, which was followed by the arrival of guitarist Ben Melton, as well as shows and tour dates with everyone from City of Caterpillar, pageninetynine and This Will Destroy You to Acid Bath, Eyehategod and Young Widows.
“If Bauhaus, Killing Joke, and Black Sabbath had a child, this would be it”, Metal Injection proclaimed about Wailin Storms.
Brooklyn Vegan concurred. “It’s just loud, heavy, dark rock music, and it’s awesome”.
The Arsonist can be traced back through Wailin Storms’ past. Recorded by Matt Talbott of Hum in full analog, the album rekindles the band’s roots in raw-to-the-bone blues punk as a heated response to today’s vat of overproduced music and AI slop. By experimenting with swoons of Rhodes organ, “Heart of Mine” recalls the Roadhouse from Twin Peaks. “Some of these songs are more primitive and stripped down, harkening back to the four-track recordings that the band started with”, Storms says. “The recordings contain flaws but remain human in all the right ways. They could be a murder ballad or an old folk song that’s sung around the campfire”. Other early influences soak into the songwriting’s weathered fabric: Flannery O’Conner’s grotesque sensibility, Cormac McCarthy’s unflinching fatalism, Old Regular Baptist hymns. With its sideways gust of riffs and moaning chorus, “The Wind” blows loud enough to wake the entire cemetery.
“Because the heart wants what the body wants and the mind wants what the eyes want”, Storms gravely intones. “Won’t you take me through hell”.
Wailin Storms throw heavy splashes of surrealism into the fires of The Arsonist. “Many of the lyrics draw from the same imagery and emotions conjured by David Lynch, especially his film Wild at Heart”,Storms says. “Dead End” opens the album by taking a harrowing turn of its own when the drum’s rattle leads straight into a waking nightmare. “Calm night / Birds keep plucking out our eyes”.
While shrouded by a doomy and dreamy atmosphere, The Arsonist is inflamed by real life anxieties. Taking inspiration from René Magritte, the album’s cover art, which is heavily shadowed except for a tiny house gone up in flames, was painted by Storms himself. “These songs are steeped in the trials and tribulations of everyday life”, he says. The title track is slowly engulfed by love’s eternal flame. “Like the wind controls the sea”, he croons over the gentle sway of his guitar. “You always had a hold on me”. The thunderous climax surges with such feverish intensity that it threatens to send the night of passion up in smoke.
Amidst the wreckage of The Arsonist, Wailin Storms do find a semblance of peace. “It’s All Dark Now Where Your Eyes Used to Be” ends the album with a ghostly flicker of gothic romance. “I know a place where we can sit and grow old”, Storms offers with grim assurance. A piano tolls like death’s bell as he glimpses up at a church that resembles a skull. “There’s a sliver of hope in coming to terms with death”, he concludes. “Life is temporary and that’s where its beauty lies”.

“‘Psyclops’ was the final song completed for our newest self-titled offering. It was part of the last batch of music completed with Jeremy Von Epp & myself on the home stretch of our writing sessions & it came together quickly. The song itself is a hypnotizing stomper. Heavy footed like millions of people marching against how things stand in the status quo. Norman’s lyrics for ‘Psyclops’ should be left to the interpretation of the listeners. About FORBIDDEN: Formed in 1985 in Fremont, California as Forbidden Evil, FORBIDDEN quickly became one of the defining bands of the Bay Area thrash metal movement alongside the genre’s biggest names. Following lineup changes that solidified the classic lineup featuring vocalist Russ Anderson, guitarists Craig Locicero and Glen Alvelais, bassist Matt Camacho and drummer Paul Bostaph, the band released their landmark 1988 debut ‘Forbidden Evil’ before shortening their name to FORBIDDEN. Acclaimed follow-up albums ‘Twisted Into Form’ (1990), ‘Distortion’ (1994), and ‘Green’ (1997) showcased the band’s technical precision, melodic songwriting, and Anderson’s unmistakable vocals, while extensive tours with acts including Sacred Reich, Exodus, Death Angel, Testament, and Malevolent Creation helped cement their reputation as one of thrash’s most respected acts. After disbanding in 1997, FORBIDDEN reunited in 2008, released the acclaimed comeback album ‘Omega Wave’ in 2010, and toured internationally before going on hiatus once again in 2012.
FORBIDDEN returned in 2023 with founding guitarist Craig Locicero joined by longtime members Matt Camacho and Steve Smyth, alongside vocalist Norman Skinner and drummer Chris Kontos. The revitalized lineup made its live debut at Belgium’s Alcatraz Metal Festival before returning home for sold-out Bay Area performances supporting Death Angel’s annual Christmas shows. Focused on creating new music, the band entered a new creative era in 2025 with the release of its first new song in 15 years, “Divided By Zero,” with more new material set to follow in 2026 as FORBIDDENcontinues writing the next chapter of its legendary career.
