IMPERIAL AGE have announced their Homecoming Acoustic Concert in London and Livestream, taking place on August 16th.

IMPERIAL AGE shared:

“We will be playing a special Homecoming Acoustic Concert in London on the 16th of August 2023. For those who don’t live in London, there will be a special Online Livestream – so that you can join from any part of the world!

After protesting and leaving our native Russia as soon as its aggression against Ukraine began and living for a year in Turkey, we were eventually endorsed by Arts Council England as “Exceptional Talents“.

We were granted UK residency under the Global Talent Programme and moved to Britain on 17th April 2023. Following 2 months of searching we finally settled in Northamptonshire and, after almost 1.5 years of peril and uncertainty, are now ready to continue doing what we are best at – music.

The Acoustic Concert in London
To celebrate our new home, we will play an acoustic concert on the 16th of August at London’s legendary Cart & Horses – the birthplace of Iron Maiden.

This will be our first ever acoustic show, featuring our songs in a smaller setting, played on acoustic guitars, piano, cello and drums.

Livestream
The concert will be filmed in real-time with several cameras and broadcast as a livestream to watch and listen online so that fans from all over the world can enjoy it as well.

Tickets:
the ones for in-person attendance in London got sold out pretty quick;
but tickets for viewing the livestream are still available.

This is the first time we have ever done an acoustic concert, and a significant moment in our story, which YOU – our fans – are the most significant part of.

Get your tickets now and witness history happening right in front of your eyes!”

SÜHNOPFER Unveil “Nous sommes d’Hier” Album Details, Out October 6th

French multi-instrumentalist Ardraos has announced a new SÜHNOPFER work of Black Metal Art which will be released on October 6th. “Nous sommes d’Hier” explores a Medieval universe in a quest to restore the tarnished glory of the Bourbons – marching between the Middle Ages and the modern era to weave compulsive tales of dark times, remembered legends and places that resonate with the death of an age.

The title “Nous sommes d’Hier” translates to English as “We Are From Yesterday” and is a phrase which needs to be understood in terms of the Christian tradition, as Ardraos expands:

“The title stems from a biblical reference, namely the Book of Job 8:9, where it is written: ‘We are from yesterday, and we know nothing, our days on earth are only a shadow.’ This title resonates with my Art as it cuts across the relevant themes addressed by SÜHNOPFER: evoking a religious atmosphere, the death of an historical era, the feeling of not being part of the right period, and the ephemeral passage that we are all subject to. We are nothing but emanations of past and bygone millennia.“

Tracklist:

01. D.S.F.R.
02. Nous sommes d’Hier
03. Sermon sur le Trépassement
04. Pays d’Allen
05. Céron
06. Derniers Sacrements
07. Le Bal des Laze

“Nous sommes d’Hier” was composed between January 2019 and November 2020, with the main instruments being recorded in different studios. The album was mixed at NKS Studio and mastered at Upload Studio 2022 to 2023.

The cover artwork, “Roi déchu“, is by modern French iconographic artist Charles Dubus. Ardraos comments:

“Charles Dubus is very talented in representing realistic historical subjects. The main character stands in a ruined church. This scenery may be interpreted as the character’s last sanctuary after his forfeiture. His posture evokes the iconography of Job in the Bible (as the title is linked to this passage from the Old Testament). He is unclothed on the top-half of his body like Job, but his last remaining rag is a large royal cape. He wears a crown to make it even clearer that he is a fallen king, yet his imploring posture and the ray of light that illuminates him evokes a weak hope which is vividly distilled through the songs on this album.“

Ardraos grants us a last sneak peek into what’s to come:

“This album will stand in direct continuity of “Offertoire” and “Hic Regnant Borbonii Manes“. You will find Black Metal embellished with original baroque elements from Charpentier and Chérubini, as well as with touches of acoustic guitars. As usual, I made it a point of honor to carefully select and work on each song’s details to obtain a massive result: chivalrous and full of panache. I also did more choirs myself on this record. And you will hear a special guest on the song ‘Sermon sur le Trépassement‘ who won’t be unveiled yet. Finally, there is a cover song, for the first time, on a SÜHNOPFER album. It will come rather unexpected to many, but it was a totally accurate choice to transform this piece into a Black Metal entity.“

“Nous sommes d’Hier” will be released on October 6th. A first song and pre-order options will be revealed on September 4th.

Created into the deep lands of the Bourbons in 2000, SÜHNOPFER is the Black Metal project of multi-instrumentalist and sole member Ardraos (also drummer for CHRISTICIDE, AORLHAC).

SÜHNOPFER has since built up a discography of three demos, an EP (“L’Aube des Trépassés”, 2007) and 3 full-length albums: “Nos Sombres Chapelles” (2010), and the resounding “Offertoire”, released at the end of 2014, as well as “Hic Regnant Borbonii Manes” (2019).

SÜHNOPFER delivers a violent medieval and melodic atmosphere, with themes dealing with a medieval, knightly, obscurantist and religious dimension, by adding typical aspects of his powerful and glorious homeland.

Commenting on the song, vocalist Human Furnace says:
“‘Thought Crimes.’ Speed. Aggression. Attack. All the things that come to mind, sonically, when I think of this song. It’s a manic song. It makes you move. Lyrically, it’s not a political song. It’s about trying to have your own thoughts amongst an ocean of controlled marketing, algorithms, and forced tribalism. It’s a natural emotional response to being sculpted, directed, and sometimes, ordered, to believe in one thing or the other.”

Canadian kings of technical death metal CRYPTOPSY have announced their return with, As Gomorrah Burns, their first full-length album in over a decade due out September 8th from Nuclear Blast Records. The groundbreaking, extreme metal foursome emerge renewed and as vital as ever on their massively anticipated album, which continues their trailblazing path of sonic exploration and exceptionally complex songwriting, for one of their most tumultuous albums yet.

Commenting on the impending record, vocalist Matt McGachy says:
“I’m excited to finally unveil ‘As Gomorrah Burns.’ It’s an album that we have been crafting for the past five years. A meticulous endeavor that we are proud of. It’s the perfect medley of oldschool Cryptopsy with a few modern twists. We’ve leaned heavily into the grooves and let some of the riffs breathe just a little more than we have on the past few releases.  I’m really stoked about the new era of Cryptopsy”

As Gomorrah Burns Tracklisting

Praise The Filth

Today, CRYPTOPSY has unchained the record’s first single, ‘In Abeyance,’ and accompanying video for which was directed by Chris Kells (THE AGONIST, BENEATH THE MASSACRE).

McGachy adds about the new single:
“‘In Abeyance’ is conceptually about feeling isolated while being emerged in a new environment. The hunt for a sense of belonging while mourning a previous life. Musically, it’s a slap in the face. It’s a banger that appears to be straightforward yet remains ultra complex.”

EQUILIBRIUM Release New Single + Video ‘Shelter’

It’s been silent around the EQUILIBRIUM camp for quite some time, but today, the German modern metal virtuosos can finally share the news that fans around the globe have been waiting for: The five piece releases their new single ‘Shelter’ today!

“During the last months, we contemplated much on what EQUILIBRIUM means to us – musically and lyrically. And even though there are some important parameters shaping our style, we usually just start writing without questioning the process at all”, states bandleader René. Powerful gutturals, sharp riffs, and a unique blend between modern and folk metal – ‘Shelter’ presents the six-piece as the much-proclaimed phoenix rising from the ashes, ready to shine for the next three decades of EQUILIBRIUM. “We are very motivated and inspired and full of ideas”, closes René. “We want to create music without any compromises and just want to bring the feelings that we had in the studio to the stage. Currently, we’re continuously working on new songs and new shows.”

The song was written and procuced by René Berthiaume and Cleo Tiger, mixed by Robin Leijon and René Berthiaume and mastered by Dom R. Crey at the Splendid Waves Studios.

The song has an important meaning for the band as it doesn’t only herald the beginning of EQUILIBRIUM’s next chapter in their successful career. It also introduces the band’s new singer Fabian Getto as a driving force for the metal veterans’ future. René states about the new singer: „We did an open casting call and Fabian sent in a vocal performance of ‘Renegades’ that caught our attention. There was something special about him and we had to follow this intuition. Right from the first meeting we had an incredibly good connection and a productive and creative day in the studio. It seems like the person that we were looking for with our public casting call finally found his way to us.”

Watch the new singer in action in the new music video for ‘Shelter’, directed and produced by Hammer & Tiger Productions:

About EQUILIBRIUM:
By blending a furious modern metal sound with elements of traditional folk, Germany’s EQUILIBRIUM have created a distinctive sound that is enthralling and spiritually up-lifting.  Since its foundation in 2001, they have proven to be one of the most innovative and durable groups in their genre, touring the world several times over and adding to their legacy with every performance.  Now, as they enter their third decade together, EQUILIBRIUM is as creative as ever, creating some of the most inspired music of their career.

EQUILIBRIUM’s longevity can be largely attributed to their willingness to grow and evolve, consistently exploring new sonic territories and revealing different sides of their artistry with each release. But the core of their appeal has remained consistent: harsh metal presented with vast cinematic soundscapes that speak to the entire human experience.

In spite of its often dark tonality, EQUILIBRIUM’s music is meant to evoke feelings of hope and confidence.  They incorporate aspects of many different musical cultures, focusing on the things that unite us as people, rather than the things that mark us as different.

CARNIFEX Announce New Album “Necromanteum”, Reveal Single for Title Track

Posted by tarjavirmakari on July 9, 2023

Nourished by nightmares and the throbbing pulse of pragmatic terror, CARNIFEX have returned with their ninth full-length studio album, Necromanteum, out October 6th via Nuclear Blast Records. After existing as a band for over 18 years, CARNIFEX continue to experiment with fresh song arrangements, and adding a unique sense of atmosphere to their inherently deathcore foundation.

Decades ago, wealthy intellectuals began installing psychomanteum in their homes; a secret room completely filled with mirrors, or a single mirror, and in complete darkness, in order to speak to the dead in other dimensions, and gain their knowledge. It was often used as a healing tool to help dissolve grief, or considered a form of prophecy. Necromanteum presents the concept: what if you could use that kind of room to speak with death, itself? What secrets of the world could you uncover from a direct conversation with the grim reaper? Not a monster, but a fellow intellect.

Today, the band releases the title track ‘Necromanteum’ which broaches on these existential topics. Watch the music video directed by Jim Louvau and Tony Aguilera.

CARNIFEX’s Scott Ian Lewis comments, “Necromanteum is a truly special album that all of us in the band already love. Spend some time in conversation with the other side of life, enter the Necromanteum…”

Stream the new single ‘Necromanteum’, here: https://carnifex.bfan.link/necromanteum-single

The recording process took place over the course of several weeks with producer Jason Suecof in Florida, and saw the return of live drums since COVID-19 restrictions made doing so on Graveside Confessions impossible. Mastered by Mark Lewis in Nashville, TN, the album was also co-produced by vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron. The cover artwork glows with an emerald and lavender fog; a ghostly energy erupting from the depths of a cemetery. Designed by renowned comic book artist E.M. Gist, this gateway represents the questions we ask about what lies on the other side of reality.

Below is the Necromanteum track listing:
1. Torn In Two
2. Death’s Forgotten Children
3. Necromanteum
4. Crowned In Everblack
5. The Pathless Forest
6. How The Knife Gets Twisted
7. Architect Of Misanthropy
8. Infinite Night Terror
9. Bleed More
10. Heaven And Hell All At Once
