In 2004 VREID arose from the ashes of WINDIR after the tragic perishing of Terje ‘Valfar’ Bakken.  From the very start Vreids mission has been to explore new musical paths and soundscapes. They continuously push their music to the limits and continue to grow musically.

This adventures journey has resulted in 9 albums, brought them to 25 countries, and have had them playing over 500 shows.

From its tumultuous inception, the Norwegian metal scene has always been about pioneering. Leading the black ‘n roll movement in Norway, VREID are the perfect example of that.

After almost 30 years playing together in Ulcus & Windir, and almost 20 years under VREID‘s mighty banner, the Sognametal brigade are back with bombastic new track Flammen!

Listen to the single here: https://orcd.co/vreidflammen

The first new musical output from VREID since their critical acclaimed Wild North West project from 2021.

Flammen (eng. – the flame) shows the true DNA of VREID’s musical universe, where classic heavy rock ruthlessly intertwines with atmospheric Nordic noir.

It is the result of spontaneous combustion of creativity; and was written, recorded, and released just within weeks, in the early summer days of 2023.

A standalone song that truly embody a band where the flame of passion burns stronger than ever.  Life is now!

VREID:
Sture Dingsøyr – Vocal & Guitars
Jarle Kvåle – Bass
Jørn Holen – Drums
Stian Bakketeig – Guitars
Espen Bakketeig – Keys & Vocals

ABOUT VREID:
VREID have always chosen a course of constant evolution, marked by thematically denoted phases regarding their often historically inspired lyrics.

This became particularly clear with the albums “I Krig” (2007) and “Milorg” (2009), which both revolved around concepts dealing with resistance and liberation of Norway during World War II.
On the following three albums, “V”(2012) , “Welcome Farewell” (2013), and “Solverv” (2015), VREID where heavily influenced by the mythology of their Norse roots.

And in 2018 on the album “Lifehunger” the band successfully blended elements of 70’s rock, 80’s classic metal, and Norwegian black metal into intoxicating and hard-hitting black ‘n roll. The album also featured a remarkable guest contribution from SÓLSTAFIR’s vocalist Addi Tryggvason on the track “Hello Darkness”.

In 2020, when the world came to halt, VREID kept on rolling.

They launched their own beer through Balder Brewery, an immediate success where all the first batches sold out. And in June 2020 VREID invited fans worldwide to their home region and hosted a massive streaming concert among the beautiful mountainous surroundings of the Sognefjord.

The concert, ‘Into the Mountains of Sognametal’ has sinced bee viewed by over 140.000 people from over 40 countries.

VREID have hammered out their success partly by being a heavily touring band. The four-piece performed more than 500 shows in 25 countries so far. Their everlasting march to conquer new territories has led the Norwegians to headline tours in Europe, North America, Japan, and India.

Finnish metallers KAKSONEN have gotten active after a ten-year hiatus and releases a new album. “Universumin Kuningas” (The Emperor of the Universe) is an opus about humanity – of immortal fury in a mortal body. The epic growth story starts from hubris and limitless belief in one’s omnipotence, on top of which realities of human existence are poured, such as generational burden, the challenges of human relations, and the confrontation of one’s insignificance. In the end, one has to accept the limitations of life and their place in the world. In music, this diversity of life is interpreted through violent outbursts, but also lighter atmospheric and epic landscapes.

Listen to the album on music services: https://push.fm/fl/kaksonen-universuminkuningas

The four-piece band Kaksonen (Antti Lähdesmäki – guitar, Ville Koskivaara – bass & vocals, Tuomo Rinkinen – drums, Miika Vainio – vocals & guitar) was founded in the Äänekoski nuclear fallout area around 2007. The goal from the get-go was to play energetic and world-embracing heavy music that would truly speak to people regardless of background or ideology. During the following six years, the band played countless furious gigs and released a bunch of recordings. Life eventually led the childhood friends apart across the Nordic countries, and the project was put on hiatus for nearly ten years. Now, activated again, the band is in a more fierce form than ever before with a more focused vision of the band’s vision of metal music.

Tracklist

  1. Jättiläisten maa
  2. Vihasta tehty
  3. Sielunsyöjät
  4. Kaukana kaikesta
  5. Kuolema

SERVANT Release “To Crown A Beast” Video Clip

July 7th sees the release of “Aetas Ascensus”, the second album by German black metallers SERVANT.

On the 9 new songs, many things seem more furious and wild than on the debut, but at the same time more melodic and emotional. Lyrically, the album deals with a variety of religious texts, whereby gnosis plays a major role here and also the politics behind. So the album also contains songs about emperors and kings who have fallen prey to madness and have helped to destroy themselves and their empire.
The first sample from the 48 min long album, “To Crown A Beast”, is now available as a video clip on the MDD YouTube channel. The final tracklist of the album is attached. “Aetas Ascensus” is already available for pre-order as CD in stores and some mailorders and will also be released on vinyl a little later in the year. Stay tuned!

Tracklist

  1. Aetas Ascensus
  2. Of Asceticism And Ecstasy
  3. To Crown A Beast
  4. Empire Of Madness
  5. Mater Hominis
  6. A Spell To Dethrone
  7. Prayer
  8. Seven Sins To End The World
  9. Licht

THE DAY WE LEFT EARTH Release New Single ‘Paradise’

THE DAY WE LEFT EARTH has grown from clarity to clarity over their debut year. Latest single together with Dead By April raised the bar and the two bands are leaving for tour together this fall. The album plan for TDWLE is set, and will be released in early 2024. As if this wasn’t enough, The Day We Left Earth have also signed with a bigger booker and have  joined the roster along bands like: Lacuna Coil, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility and Evergrey.

Today, THE DAY WE LEFT EARTH are releasing their 7th single from the upcoming debute album and the new single ‘Paradise‘ is a fierce and emotional metal song with a clear theme of the destruction and change of our planet earth.

“After all these sci-fi movies you would think we would see the warning signs”.

Although this is said with a slight grin on the face from the singer Martin Bjerke, there’s some serious thoughts behind the notion. With hauntingly beautiful lyrics, big range vocals and a smattering metal foundation ‘Paradise‘ is the perfect metal tune.

‘Paradise’ is out now on all streaming services!

It was never about starting a band. It was just a few old friends getting together to play music for fun. They would meet once a week at a small house deep in the Oklahoma woods they called Ringo Manor. They played old songs, told stories and laughed a lot. Before too long they started writing songs and as the story goes, when you put a bunch of musicians in a room together…they started a band.

Hillbilly Vegas released their first song just a few months after their first jam session at Ringo Manor. A local DJ played that song during his air shift and then it got weird. A Nashville record executive was driving through the area at the very moment that local DJ was playing that first Hillbilly Vegas song. He called the station and just an hour later they were offered a record deal. That fast! Yes, the band is aware that happens to be one of the sub plots in the movie Wayne’s World but it happened. Just like that! Since that wild day the band has charted 5 country singles, along with 2 top 10 and 3 Billboard top 20 rock singles. HOLY CROSSOVER!

Hillbilly Vegas has headlined their own tours as well as a support act for a who’s who in the music world including; Blake Shelton, Travis Tritt, Alabama, Lee Brice, Blackstone Cherry, Wynonna, Kentucky Headhunters, Hellyeah, David Allen Coe, Joe Diffy, Granger Smith, Billy Currington, A Thousand Horses, Insane Clown Posse, Molly Hatchet and many more. And to think it all started in a little house in Oklahoma called Ringo Manor.
