Following CATHUBODUA‘s impressive debut EP in 2016, their first full-length tells the tale of the creation and destruction of a war goddess – from high hopes, power, and dreams, to love lost and how to deal with an eternal burning guilt. These intense emotions are musically displayed in a more grandiose and intense way than the band ever did before, incorporating more ideas and influences from heavier metal genres this time. CATHUBODUA vocalist Sara Vanderheyden tells us about the song:

“Contemplate the enormity of wielding divine powers. Imagine an eternity, witnessing your loved ones die, witnessing the decay of the world before your very own eyes? Would you try and change the world for the better?

This song is a linchpin for the album’s narrative: even our gods seem to be human and can suffer from hubris and anger – and that absolute rage is embodied in this song. A bombastic arrangement of minimalist orchestrations provides the perfect canvas for the metal elements to resound. Unprecedented soaring riffs and thunderous blast beats, unheard by Cathubodua before, converge in a symphony inspired by the dark depths of black metal themes, bearing raw, edgy contours that mirror the lyrical essence.

The song encapsulates the essence of feeling wronged by life and being worthy of receiving much more, certainly when you have the divine authority to seize it. It draws inspiration from those profound moments of mental desolation, profound loneliness, and overwhelming depression—moments where one would grasp at any semblance of relief, even if it leads to the addiction of destruction.“

The band’s new album “Interbellum” will hit you in the face, not just emotionally and lyrically but musically. This time, the guitars are allowed a way more prominent role on the album and generate a massive driving force that carries you through the stories. CATHUBODUA‘s first full-length magnum opus is raw and heavier than anything the band has ever done before, without compromising on the epic violin melodies, the heavenly orchestrations and vocalist Sara’s immense vocal range! 

The album was produced with Yarne Heylen at Project Zero Studio, and was mixed and mastered by Erwin Hermsen at the Toneshed Recording Studio. The stunning artwork has been created by Jelle van Loo.

THE CHRONICLES OF MANIMAL AND SAMARA Return with New Single + Video ‘Mysterium Tremendum’

The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara (TCOMAS) are proud to present their brand new single and video for ‘Mysterium Tremendum’. Written and recorded between December 2022 and October 2023, the new track merges metal and classical music, and contains section sections with classical piano and a full orchestra. 

Andrea Papi on the new song:
“I would describe “Mysterium Tremendum” as being ‘Opera Metal’. It contains musical and lyrical elements that gives the work a perfect combination of ‘heaviness’ that is both melancholic and brutal.”

Daphne Ang, commenting on the orchestral sections of the new song:
“The song contains a large section with a full orchestra, which took a long time to compose and arrange. It was a real challenge, but it was mostly a rewarding experience, as we made it purely a TCOMAS effort.”

The song explores the concept of ‘mysterium tremendum et fascinans’. I came across this concept in Das Heilige (The Idea of the Holy), a book by Rudolf Otto”, Daphne Ang notes. “It is the raw, enduring, and barbaric pain that pierces deep into the soul, which may then develop into something pure, beautiful and glorious. It is the totality of the highest and lowest points of our existence.”

Accompanying the new single, the duo have also delivered an animated music video for ‘Mysterium Tremendum’, created under their video and visual production arm, TCOMAS Studio. Set in warring Ancient Rome and Medieval Europe, the video combines traditional 2D and 3D animation with AI video technology to recreate the life story and journey of the anti-hero’s experience of the ‘mysterium tremendum’.

The new single and video provides a first glimpse into the pair’s return, arriving after two frenzied years of activity during which the duo dropped two full-length albums. Described to be one of “the most important British-based bands of the decade” (Ever Metal), their pioneering performance of poetry in heavy music has become a form of expression that has become synonymous with TCOMAS. Their debut album, Full Spectrum (released February 26, 2021), captured the imaginations of new listeners with their blend of electronic, rock, metal and poetry performance, most notably “Love in the Time of Pestilence“, which graced several official Spotify playlists (Alternative Metal, Progressive Metal). In their sophomore album, Trust No Leaders (released July 1, 2022), the duo further refined their niche and innovation – “Heavy Metal fused with literature, poetry, and art” (FemMetal).Dubbed by TUTV! as “architects in sound and vision” for their visual inventiveness. ‘Unfolding‘ was recorded in Studio Soundport in Ulricehamn, Sweden by Micke Andersson – who also produced, mixed and mastered the album. You can also hear him sing backup vocals and playing synth on ”Forever never ends” and piano on ”Pieces of me”.

VNTER was formed in Gothenburg, Sweden in November 2017 by singer and guitar player Andy. Since then they have done a lot of interviews, radio and live shows both in Sweden and outside of Sweden. With their explosive, high energy rock made for both big and small stages the now aim to get a bigger audience. The band is also an extension and continuation of the previous band White Limo that had a few successful years and was put to its final rest in 2016. Andy took the best songs that were written and released with White Limo, gave them a make over and re-recorded them as VNTER which became the first album ”When it all comes down”. Previous to that they released two singles ”Make it up” and ”Queen”. They have now just finished a brand new 5 song EP that is more commercial than they ever done. The band challenged themselves and a unique, brave, huge sound came out of it. You probably have heard it before, but then again you probably haven’t. Recorded, produced, mixed & mastered in Studio Soundport in Ulricehamn by Micke Andersson who have a hand in the bands two previous albums.

The last album ”Overcoming” was written and recorded with only one member in the band (Andy) and was determined that VNTER was now a project where invited friends could come and join the recording sessions and live sessions. However Andy decided that it´s way more fun to have band members and begun the search in the early 2023. And after two years hiatus from where the band was on hold and all the existing members left in one way or another they are back with new music, three new members Oliver Gonzales on bass, Alexander Weding on drums and Rickard Borg on lead guitar, new energy and more determination to play huge shows. The mission from day one is to deliver in every aspect, both live on stage and on tape. Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Muse and Queens of the stone age. These are the influences that helped form the shape and idea of the band and the will to play worldwide. That and a constant drive to be better, do more and write really good music. ”If you take the blue pill you will wake up in your bed believing whatever you want to believe but if you take the red pill you will stay in VNTER´s world and they will show you how deep the rabbit hole goes”.
