TYPE O NEGATIVE Release New A.I. Generated Music Video for ‘Halloween In Heaven’

TYPE O NEGATIVE have unveiled a darkly captivating treat for World Goth Day! Immerse yourself in the ethereal realm of ‘Halloween in Heaven’ as A.I. breathes new life into the track. Written by the band for their friend Dimebag Darrell, the video features Dimebag alongside John Bonham, John Entwistle, Bon Scott, Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, George Harrison, Jim Morrison, Elvis and the Green Man himself, Peter Steele. Fans of the band will also spot a cameo from collaborator and friend of the band, Tara VanFlower (LYCIA).

TYPE O NEGATIVE’s Johnny Kenny comments:
“An artificial intelligence video for an artificially intelligent band!”.

Corinne Larre (Twisted Hooves Studio) who used A.I. and created the animated music video shared the following:
“When Nuclear Blast asked me to make this video using artificial intelligence, I was eager to explore the thousand possibilities offered by this new technology. I ended up using a combination of two platforms: one that generated images and the other transforming said images into video.
The lyrics left the field open to a lot of experimentation, leading to this universe both eerie and kitsch, which I hope pays homage to the band. The real challenge was the integration of legendary artists into this imagery. It’s hard to explain to the A.I. the small details that make them unique as humans. In the end, hundreds, even thousands of iterations must have been made for this video!
As an artist, I think it is necessary to remain humble when using artificial intelligence as the topic has quite rightly caused some ethical debate in the creative world. In my opinion, these creations should not be seen as artistic works in their own right, but as the first steps of a technology that will revolutionize audiovisual creation in the coming years.”

MIZMOR Announces New Album “Prosaic”, Shares Video for First Single ‘No Place To Arrive’

Portland, Oregon based one-man blackened doom metal act MIZMOR has announced its new album “Prosaic”, slated to be released on July 21st via Profound Lore Records.

With the track “No Place To Arrive”, MIZMOR has unleashed the first single today. The song is released alongside a brand new music video directed by Zev Deans, which you can watch here:

MIZMOR on the new album: “The idea behind ‘Prosaic’ was to make an intentionally less conceptual, more slice-of-life record. I wanted to make an album that was less precious and obsessed-over, more honest and real; less grandiose and more human.“

He continues: “I found it an interesting challenge to find the line between ‘you can do better’ and ‘you’re beating a dead horse.’ I tried to make my process more efficient and even fun at times. I simply wanted to share, but if that meant exacting all-out perfectionism, I wasn’t going to make a record. Right now I’m interested in making less self-indulgent music. The themes are the absurdity/futility/purpose/meaning of work, mindfulness/consciousness/living in the present moment/shedding illusions, depression/acceptance/contentment. This is the first MIZMOR album without any content relating to god/atheism. You also won’t hear any shrieks.“

“Prosaic” track listing:

  1. Only An Expanse
  2. No Place To Arrive
  3. Anything But
  4. Acceptance

Founded in 2012, the content behind MIZMOR is that of the existential – primal and innate musings about cause, purpose, self, and god. It is the search for light and truth, or the fact that there is none. It comes from an embittered, burned, confused, and broken heart. It is the fight for survival when reason and foundation has turned to nothingness. It is the crashing down of towers of falsehood and the freedom that comes through a certain kind of grief. Ultimately, MIZMOR is the manifestation of a long-felt depression whose end is not in sight and with four brand new tracks spanning over 46 minutes, another intimate chapter of MIZMOR is about to be revealed.

“Prosaic” was written, performed, produced, and recorded by A.L.N. at Albilith Studio in 2022. Mix by Sonny DiPerri at Octopus Beak and master by Adam Goncalves at Telegraph Mastering. Stunning artwork by Bryan Proteau.

“Prosaic” is now available for pre-order at THIS LOCATION

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: SERVANT. Leave a comment

With their impressive debut “Blessed By The Light Of A Thousand Stars”, Germany’s SERVANT were one of the black metal surprises of 2021. These days, the quartet has now completed work on the follow-up, which is more than capable of fulfilling and even surpassing the expectations raised with the debut.

“Aetas Ascensus”, the title of the second album, will be released on 07 July on MDD Records!

Musically, much of the new material seems more furious and wild, although melody and harmony will again form the cornerstone of the almost 50-minute album. Aetas Ascensus is a complex piece of music, bursting with a wealth of details. Those who already enjoyed the Scandinavian Black Metal influenced debut will love the successor! A look at the cover is attached, a first musical taster of the new material will be available soon – stay tuned!
