Finnish atmospheric alternative rockers AMBASSADORS OF ETERNITY are currently working on their debut full length album to be released in 2024. Now they release new single and music video “Dark Asylum”.
It is a melancholic and atmospheric rock piece. Spiced up with a progressive epic twist and big chorus. A story about solitary drifting soul. Music video is created by “Unreal director” Sami Heinonen.
The band was established in 2020 by Toni Laroma (Ex-Ajattara, Ex-Ancara, Northern Discipline, IGIGI), Sammy Salminen (Ex-Ancara) and Seppo Nummela (Dead Shape Figure, Denigrate, Ten For None) from the decision to finally make music together. The guys had already known each other and now felt like the right moment to do something different.. Samuli Kiviniemi (Haven) was the only choice for the drums. AoE released their first EP ARRIVAL in 2022 and played their debut gig with Spiritraiser at On the Rocks club in Helsinki. Because of the covid-19, the band did not tour, but worked with new songs. New album will be out in 2024.

Another new band that is packed to the brim with experienced musicians from the Norwegian music scene has found its way onto Is It Jazz? Records, the Bergen-based offshoot of Karisma Records that is developing a reputation for nurturing some of the latest and best arrivals on the Jazz scene, as well as attracting some very well-established artists.
The band in question is THE VERGE, a four-piece unit that started life whilst its members were studying at the Jazz Academy in Trondheim.
Comprised of Emil Storløkken Åse (PHOENIX, EMIL STORLØKKEN ÅSE SOLO) on Guitars , Aksel Rønning (COSMIC SWING ORCHESTRA, AKSEL RØNNING TRIO) on Saxophone and Flute, Alf Høines (CARAMEL 11, LEON RØSTEN TRIO)on Electric Bass, and Ingvald Vassbø (KANAAN, JUNO) on Drums, THE VERGE’s lineup is very definitely not short of creativity and enthusiasm.
Together they have created an intense and energetic debut album that draws its inspiration from extreme improvisational rock and dreamy noise/dronescapes, and offers more than a nod in the direction of free form jazz. It is an album that promises to be vibrant and multifaceted, one where the ability of the individual musicians to interact with one another is front and centre.

May 5th, BEYOND ALL RECOGNITION are releasing their EP ‘This Is Dubcore!’. This special collection of five tracks features the band’s pioneering sound that helped define the genre of Dubcore, a combination of metal core and dubstep that Beyond All Recognition helped create. The shredding metal riffs and desperately angry vocals combined with the electronic metal production creates the unique sound that only Beyond All Recognition can bring forth. As if that wasn’t enough, all five songs are produced by Dino Medanhodzic, a swedish producer and songwriter who has experience of working with some of Sweden’s biggest bands.
May 12, 2023 sees Hamburg-based metal maniacs, GODSNAKE, release their sophomore studio album, Eye For An Eye, via Massacre Records. Following a previously-shared, first album appetizer, “The Sickening”, today, the band has unleashed a lyric video for their second single “Story Of A Ghost”, featuring Wayne Dorman of thrash metal titans ONSLAUGHT on a guest guitar solo!
“This track is about the individual demons and ghosts that people have to deal with. Very different, personal tormentors that make one’s life hell, even if other people can’t understand or relate to it at all,” the band comments.
“This general placeholder can be filled and brought to life by practically any listener. Addictions and dependencies, phobias or traumas, depressions and diseases, all this can be the subject here. Musically, a very powerful and fast, compact and heavy song. The shortest track in the band’s history, with a playing time of under 3 minutes. For the guitar solo Wayne Dorman from the UK Thrash Metal legend ONSLAUGHT could be enlisted.”
Contemporary heavy metal with significant references to some of the big old masters: straight, hard, riff-orientated, but never missing catchiness and hook lines. The reptile that is GODSNAKE has been up to mischief in the heavy music scene since 2015 and has successfully established itself in the metallic jungle. Torger (vocals), Stevo (guitar), The Walt (bass) and Sidney (drums), who were already involved in the album Poison Thorn, were reinforced in 2022 by guitar wizard Pepe (Ancient Curse, Sons Of Seasons).
With their second full-length album, the 5 musicians want to prove and renew the very positive feedback of the debut and thus maintain their place in the ranking. 10 new songs in 47 minutes – straight in your face! Versatile, heavy, catchy, and very powerful, that’s what GODSNAKE stands for.
Like their much acclaimed debut, Eye For An Eye was recorded and produced in the LSD studios in Lübeck by mastermind Lasse Lammert (e.g., Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Wind Rose etc.).
The motto for the cover and artwork was ‘never change a winning team’, so the band was once again able to win over Björn Gooßes / Killustrations (including Amon Amarth, Death Angel, Hatesphere) for the design duties.

Heavy modern rockers VONAVIBE just revealed a new self-titled music video and single entitled “Vonvaibe“. This is the second music video & single taken from their upcoming LP album Bleed to Life which will be released on May 26, 2023 via Eclipse Records. The video was directed by Peggy Psarrou. The album was produced by Dyon and mastered by John Christodoulatos at Sweetspot Productions.
“Given the significance of the track, we needed to make the video equally special and showcase what Vonavibe is all about” says lead vocalist and guitarist Dyon. “For this reason we opened up our vault and dug up some of the best footage from the band’s entire lifespan, whether it was pro-shot or simply taken with a mobile phone. As a result, this music video is the accumulation of the band’s course over the last 5 years. We wanted bits and pieces of live performances as well as time we spent in the studio performing, rehearsing or during a sound check. The video is something more than just a timeline projection, however, it is a reminder that whatever curve balls life throws at us, we can always bounce back. How we started playing in small clubs, making leaps to bigger venues and eventually landing gigs in some huge festivals supporting acts such as Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons or Monster Magnet. We almost lost it all after my motorcycle accident and had to take a painful three and half years before we were able to set foot on stage again. Vonavibe is an animated portrait of the band, and also the meaning behind the band’s name. …every fright that may lie, never lost is Vonavibe. Vonavibe, a sense of hope.”
The new album by Vonavibe is entitled Bleed To Life. The band’s third release contains ten amazing songs and is scheduled for release on May 26, 2023.Bleed to Life is an album that redefines the sound barrier at least in terms of raw power. We often informally refer to that massive rhythm guitar, bass, and percussion vibe as a “Wall of Sound,” and the first bands that come to mind are Black Sabbath and Metallica. More veritably, the “Wall of Sound” was introduced in the 1960s by record producer Phil Spector, who invented a dense orchestral studio aesthetic made of layering, echo, spill, and mono. Currently, Vonavibe have sonically restructured this idea, and Bleed to Life does not simply give us a “Wall.” It builds us a grand fortress. Besides the addictive hooks, intricate dynamics, clever drum pattering, and diverse vocals, the guitar interplay on Bleed to Life, is exceptional. Part of this is a result of the technical production, writing, and studio performances, but more viscerally, it feels to the listener like becoming a tidal wave, a volcano, a hurricane, pick your simile. Of course, rhythm chords and repetitive riffing are often used as mere background to the verses, choruses, and platform solos, but Vonavibe create a world where the rhythm guitar is unique like a “vocalist,” with the lead guitar becoming an exotic superhero.

The first chapter of the warriors’ glorious return can be heard on the debut album, ANGUS McSIX and the Sword of Power.
