MORRATH is a Polish death band formed by members from thrash metal band Prowler in 2020. Fans and reviewers of debut EP defined their style as being close to the American scene, comparing them to bands like Morbid Angel, Deicide, Suffocation and Incantation, also including elements taken from styles like slam and classic grindcore. Lyrics mainly cover topics like inner struggles and anti-religion.

Band is going to release their first full-length titled “Centuries of Blindness”. Krzysztof Kostencki from Tetra Wave Studio (SOTHORIS “Wpiekłowstąpienie”) is responsible for the production of the album. The album cover was created by the band’s bassist Mieszko Jankowski. Date of release is scheduled on April 20, 2023 and will be released in Europe by Metal Is The Law Productions and in America by Diabolus Production. The pre-order of the album is available on the band’s Bandcamp.

Band commentary about the album: “With “Centuries of Blindness” we want to express our understanding of death metal – our favorite genre, it expresses our feelings and emotions, our views. No less important was the willingness to release an album that will be good and worth returning to it – we have dreamt about it since Prowler times, at the beginning of our music voyage, when we even could not play our instruments”.

XANXIA Sign with Wormholedeath for Re-Issue of “Maha Kalpa” Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 12, 2023

New Jersey-based experimental metallers XANXIA are proud to announce their partnership with Wormholedeath Records for the reissue of their highly acclaimed album “Maha Kalpa” on May 5th, 2023. This will be a new chance for fans of extreme metal music to discover Xanxia’s unique sound.

The album tells a universal tale of time and consciousness inspired by the idea of a great cycle of Yugas, originating in Hinduism. Beginning in the golden age and spanning all the way through the decline and destruction of the universe and its eventual resurgence, Xanxia outlines a miraculously complex story of the nature of being.

“We are very excited to be releasing our album, Maha Kalpa, through WormHoleDeath Records,” says the band. “We couldn’t ask for a better team to work with to get our music out into the world. Our main goal was to express ourselves musically in the most authentic way possible, and we feel we have done that with this album.”

The album was recorded mostly at Xanxia’s home studio, with the exception of the vocals, which were recorded in a studio owned by a close friend of the band. The end result is a collection of crushing rhythms, expressive, dynamic melodies, and dark, unnerving drones and growls, all coming together to form Xanxia’s unique sound. Their music is an ode to authenticity and passion, and their fans appreciate them for that. With “Maha Kalpa”, they have created something that is both unique and inspiring.

Tracklist:

  1. Kalpa
  2. Satya Yuga
  3. Treta Yuga
  4. Dvapara Yuga
  5. Kali Yuga
  6. Devadatta
  7. Seventy One
  8. Pralaya

Xanxia is an experimental metal band consisting of Adam Zuccaro and Jason Mingalone. Their main goal as musicians are to express their passion for music by creating only what comes most naturally to them.

VULTURE INDUSTRIES Reveal New Track ‘Saturn Devouring His Young’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 12, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Vulture Industries. Leave a comment

Inspired by what I consider one of the most disturbing paintings ever made, the track deals with power-hungry old men and their ruthless disregard of life and consequence in their quest for a glorified place in history.

The above description by Bjørnar Erevik Nilsen’s of “Saturn Devouring His Young”,  the newly released track taken from VULTURE INDUSTRIES upcoming album “Ghosts from the Past”,  is certainly  very apropos of the situation in which the world finds itself today, and you can hear it by either streaming or downloading it now from a variety of services at THIS LOCATION.

Written at a time when the band was undergoing considerable changes in their personal lives, coupled with the arrival of the Pandemic, and all the turmoil that went with it, VULTURE INDUSTRIES’ fifth full-length album “Ghosts from the Past”, understandably took longer than normal to write.

Despite struggling to find a sense of direction, the band’s lineup of Bjørnar Erevik Nilsen on vocals and keys, Eivind Huse on guitars and vocals, Øyvind Madsen on guitars, Kyrre Teigen on bass and vocals, and Tor Helge Gjengedal  on drums , have produced an album that is essentially a piece of their collective soul.

It was a struggle well worth undergoing because  the band’s fifth full-length album is their strongest to date, and  marks a new direction for VULTURE INDUSTRIES, one that tends more towards the darker side of hard rock but which still maintains their  unique and unmistakable sound.

“Ghosts from the Past” draws on a kaleidoscope of influences; from dust-riddled Spaghetti Westerns accompanied by Ennio Morricone, past the monochrome melancholia of apocalyptic post punk, through deep valleys and steep hills shrouded in progressive darkness, and a Nordic Noir looking to solve the unexplained murder of the truth.

It mirrors all that was going on around it, and reflects the fear of a world spinning out of control, and the sense of powerlessness in the face of a world order that is falling apart. Only to be replaced by old ideas imposed by autocratic warlords with no goal in mind other than their own power and legacy.

Recorded at the Conclave & Earshot Studios “Ghosts from the Past” was produced by the band and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street. With album artwork by Kim Holm and artwork for the singles by Costin Chioreanu, track listing is as follows:

  1. New Lords of Light
  2. Saturn Devouring His Young
  3. This Hell is Mine
  4. Deeper
  5. Right Here in the Dark
  6. A Strangers Curse
  7. Tyrants Weep Alone

Set for release on the 16th June on Dark Essence Records, “Ghosts from the Past! will be available in CD, Digital and Vinyl formats and can be pre-ordered now from the foillowing:

Over the years, VULTURE INDUSTRIES has been proven to have a wide appeal both on stage and with their studio output, and their stagecraft has earned them a reputation as a theatrical and hugely entertaining live act.  With plans for extensive live shows and tours in the works for 2023, the following appearances have already been confirmed:

28 Apr – Ogna Scene, Ogna (NO)

US Alt-Rockers DAKAR Reveal Track-by-Track of “Say It Again” Debut Full-Length + Artwork Story

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 12, 2023

US Alt-rockers DAKAR returned with a blast with their debut full-length album “Say It Again”! Today the band reveals the track-by-track and the story behind the artwork!

“Say It Again” track-by-track:

  1. Not Gonna Be Yo Sucka
“Not Gonna Be Yo Sucka” is the rousing opening anthem of the album Say It Again, a dont-take-shit-from-nobody call to arms that appeals to the listener’s sense of purpose (what will inspire you/to fight for which you stand?/is it for power/or to serve your fellow man?”) to rally to challenge the forces that have convinced people to fight amongst one another. The song opens with thunderous toms from drummer Luke Jean, followed by the first of many overdriven, power chord riffs by guitarists David Benfield and Darrell Edmunds. While Edmunds’ vocals run point on this track, the harmonies and balance with Benfield settle in quickly and remain throughout the LP. “NGBYS” crescendoes into the crowd chant of the song’s namesake, setting a high bar that Dakar hits like a proverbial cowbell from track to track.
  2. Chase Scene
A hook-driven ode to racing that hearkens to the band’s namesake, “Chase Scene” mixes a hard-charging rhythm riff, bending lead guitar elements and soaring, swooning vocal melodies with lyrical imagery that dares the listener to “catch me if you can”. The band expands its sound with a dreamy wah pedal-filled interlude and vocal ranges that push the boundaries of the band’s previous work.
  3. Say It Again
While it may have been a last-minute edition to the album, Say It Again’s title track serves as an excellent microcosm for the band’s sound. Driving rhythms, powerful hooks, towering vocals; Say It Again checks all of the boxes of an epic rock song. “I Said it once, you can say it again!”
  4. Over the Line
With no-frills, straight-to-the-point rock riffs and anthemic hooks, “Over the Line” describes a longview into a dystopian future resulting from acceptance of the overreach by powerful authoritarian forces into the rights and lives of everyone. The imagery of the lyrics couples with a pogo-inducing backbeat to produce chant-worthy refrains and the timeless feel of a foot-stomping hard rock romp.
  5. Come and Get It
One of the first releases by Dakar from their initial EP, “Come and Get It” is a frenetic mini-medley within one composition. The twists and turns reflect a foray into the bases songwriters David Benfieldand Darrell Edmunds covered in their guitar-focused, rock-forward sound. The lyrics are an appeal to the attraction of the speaker’s love interest, a flirty missive backed by raucous guitar hooks and chants.
  6. Ronnie Jean
Inspired by a trip to Ireland and fueled by Southern roots, Ronnie Jean is the story of two childhood misfits that grow into lifelong friends. The bouncing rhythms and chord progression are youthful and ambitious, while the chorus is an infectious sing-along that’ll have even the most serious of cynics tapping their feet.
  7. Clutches
Dakar takes a respite from pumping the hard rock for “Clutches”, an off-beat off-ramp that features the bass work of Alejandro Soto under the surfy guitar color by Edmunds and Benfield. Edmunds’ vocals denote the despair of a lover who belatedly realizes it’s over. The fatalistic tone stands in contrast to the band’s usual high-energy optimism, but hints at the depth still to come as the band releases more work.
  8. Grab Your Reigns
Uplifting, powerful riffs compliment the inspiring lyrics on Grab Your Reigns. With its straightforward hooks and dynamic harmonies, Grab Your Reigns is the perfect song to boost self confidence or inspire that extra push to conquer your dreams. “You can be who you want to be, it’s up to you to decide.”
  9. Reason
It shouldn’t take listeners long to get a sense of Dakar’s penchant for bouncing between decades of guitar ethos – sometimes, in the same song. Such is the case with “Reason”, a cautionary love tale combining vocal hooks with shapeshifting sounds that could be placed in 70s punk, 80s glam or 90s alternative. With a lyrical theme of wisdom after love lost, the band’s writing reflects a certain maturity – or, at least, the scars of hard lessons.
  10. Animal
Dakar doesn’t shy away from social commentary, and “Animal” fits comfortably in the catalog of tracks that delve into the uncomfortable – in this case, domestic violence. Drummer Luke Jean’s old-school punk beat leads the song into Darrell Edmunds’ radiant lead guitar hooks. Edmunds’ harmonies with fellow guitarist and vocalist David Benfield stand out as part of the band’s consistent sound throughout the ebb and flow of the album’s genre influences.
  11. Projection
This no-frills kick to the earworm machine wastes no time eviscerating the subject of the song as a malignant narcissist (sometimes when you’re fucking with my head/I must remind myself not to believe a word you said/accusing me instead/of killing all the skulls under your bed) before delving into the group’s go-to vocal harmonies that evoke thoughts of mid-90s new-school punk.
  12. Escape From New York
“Escape” was written as a reflection of Benfield’s homesickness while living in Brooklyn, New York. Fed up with snow in April and nowhere to stretch his legs, he packed his guitars and dog into his car and set off for home. Powering guitars, raw vocals, and southern undertones paint a clear picture “I can see it in my mind’s eye, I’m kicked back, drinking water from my spring.”
  13. Empire Dreams
What happens when democracy gives way to autocracy and fascism? When capitalism is left unfettered? You start having empire dreams… With its blues-derived riffs, screaming guitars, and Dakar’s punk rock DNA, Empire Dreams dives into the dark possibilities of what happens when we stop fighting for what’s right, and let plutocrats and oligarchs take total control.

About the artwork the band shared:
“An ode to analog, the extreme close-up photo of the guitar amplifier tubes point to the intent of the band to refrain from heavy digital music production influences such as synthesizers as well as the current paradigm of an eternally “plugged-in” society.”

“Say It Again” was recorded at Friends of Friends Studio in Jacksonville Fl, engineered, mixed & mastered by Brok Mende, who apprenticed with Butch Vig!

The band shared on “Say It Again”:
“We’re really thrilled with the way it came together with Brok”, said Edmunds. “Things clicked right away, and I think that comes out clearly with the work.”

Benfield: “It was a lot of hard work, and it’s great to be able to share this with everyone.”

More on DAKAR:

DAKAR is the capital of Senegal. Dakar is a rally race. Dakar is also an American rock band from Duval County, Florida: named after the street in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Jacksonville where it was founded by David Benfield, Darrell Edmunds and Luke Jean in 2019.

Benfield and Edmunds initially based their songwriting in the style of 90s guitar-driven alternative hard rock with 2020’s Come and Get It EP and evolved from there, incorporating indie, punk, modern, and southern with an unabashed penchant for pro-democracy, anti-facist, pro-diversity, and anti-racist themes.

In 2021, Dakar followed up with their EP Over the Line, leading off with a raucous dystopian cautionary title track blending overdriven classic rock guitars with an anti-police state theme reflecting the sentiment of the previous year’s political strife in the U.S.

After a few attempts with a fourth member, the band recruited bassist Alejandro Soto and recorded their debut full-length, Say It Again, at Friends of Friends studio in Jax with engineer Brok Mendes. The band was unanimous in their account of the nine-month production process as arduous, but gratifying.

Of all the meanings of Dakar, the boys prefer the name derived from the Senegalese local Wolof word meaning “whoever settles here will be in peace”.

EVERMORE Release Video for Third Single ‘Queen of Woe’

EVERMORE have released a video for their third single ‘Queen of Woe’, taken from the band’s new album “In Memoriam” coming out on April 21st via Scarlet Records.

Watch the video below.

Evermore rewrite the traditional rules of European power metal in an extraordinary, unique way.

With the 2021 debut ‘Court of the Tyrant King’ they showed off some remarkable skills; now ‘In Memoriam’ takes their ideas, songwriting and overall artistic approach to the next level.

While always adopting a heavy and aggressive tone, Evermore’s stunning melodies weave around each other and create songs that are smart-structured and yet always catchy and radio friendly. This time, the Swedish band even used a church choir to add another sonic layer to the sound.

Lyrically wise, ‘In Memoriam’ may be perceived as an album about people and the everyday struggles that affect us all – “For those who lost their voice in the dark of night – Compassion is the flame that leads you home”.

The end goal of Evermore is to create music that makes you feel “something” and creates that sense of empowerment, uplifting mood and motivation that is so strongly associated with the metal genre: you own the story!

  • recorded at MWC Studios; produced and mixed by Marcus “Mackan” Alfsson; mastered by Svante at Chartmakers West
  • artwork by Christoph Peters

EVERMORE are:
Johan Haraldsson – lead and backing vocals
Johan Karlsson – lead and rhythm guitar, bass, keyboards, orchestration, backing vocals
Andreas Vikland – guitars, drums, orchestration, lyrics
