Multi award-winning Blues/Rock/Americana/Roots artist Dom Martin is pleased to announce the release of “Daylight I Will Find” – the second single taken from his highly anticipated third studio album “Buried In The Hail” released by Forty Below Records on 22nd September 2023. The album is available to pre-order from  https://www.dommart.in/pre-order.

“Daylight I Will Find” is released today on Friday 4 August 2023, and available to stream HERE.

“Buried In the Hail,” Dom Martin’s third studio album, was recorded at Golden Egg Studios in Ireland and produced in Dublin by Grammy-Nominated producers Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy and co-produced by Dom Martin. Very much steeped in the Roots, Americana, and the Blues genres, many of the tracks on the new album possess an almost cinematic theme.Dom admits the new album is the first complete work that he’s recorded which he is 100% happy with and proud to release. Says Dom, “Buried In the Hail is the kind of album where the more you listen to it, the more you will get out of it.”

“It’s all about the music,” says Dom about the new single ‘Daylight I Will Find’. “Sweet and simple really.” There’s no soft option for a good life. Life is full of challenges, and it’ll drive you insane if you let it. It doesn’t matter what it is. You must find your own way through it and in one piece! Find your own daylight. We all have it! It’s you! Love yourself.”

Why the cover of Willie Nelson’s “Crazy”? “When I was a kid, I always loved the song, my Aunt Breda was a Patsy fan, I think I liked it most probably for the key change, I was shocked when I later found out it was written by Willie Nelson, what a guy! This version is how I felt at the time, I had the music and these lyrics just fit in more ways than one.

Dom will tour the new album throughout the UK and Ireland in October and November 2023 and Europe in June 2024. See tour dates listed below.

ALBUM TRACK BY TRACK

1 – Hello In There
So many songs could have been made with this one. In many ways this album is about the mind and losing it. It ’s also about accepting its function. That you ’re a little crazy and that ’s okay! I used this for the intro as it ’s such a nice calm before the storm compared to the 10-ton catastrophe on a 50-pound chain feeling from a few of the others on here. The children laughing in the background really made it. Children ’s laughter is one of the most beautiful sounds in the world and I’ m glad I could include it in here.

2 – Daylight I Will Find
It’s all about the music. Sweet and simple really. It ’s no soft option for a good life. Life is full of challenges, and it ’ll drive you insane if you let it. It doesn ’t matter what it is, you must find your own way through it and in one piece! Find your own daylight. We all have it! It ’s you! Love yourself.

3 – Government
I’m not too sure what to say about this one lyrically. I ’m not political. I ’m not on any side. I believe in right, and something is not right with the current world order running of things but as for the song, it has a very Celtic feel to it. My Irish ghosts, influences and banshees are howling the wind at my back as if to tell me to stay away from explaining this song faithfully.

4 – Belfast Blues
I’m a Belfast native. I love the place and the people. Just about every family has lost blood on the streets here yet it ’s still a great place to witness. As we’d say there’s some characters about so there is! The song is about the days I spent playing the pubs and clubs in Northern Ireland. Getting in fights, fires, getting robbed, getting drunk and beaten and just generally misbehaving. Being an animal. I was a different person back then. I’ve become a lot younger now than I was back then and am finally living a life.

5 – Crazy
I usually have at least one cover on my albums, and I wanted something I could relate to. I wanted something I could identify with, and the lyrics are just it! I played this completely broken down, out of my mind and titanically heartbroken. It was written by Willie Nelson and made big by the beautiful Patsy Cline. As a cover song I think I’ve done a pretty good alternative version that does hold a feeling of that crazy, deeper burning love and the loss of it that makes us all a little… unhinged.

6 – Unhinged
This is a song about feeling unhinged by society, finding falseness in people who greet you with smiles and leave you with nothing.

7 – The Fall
It’s hard to write any one thing about this song. The fall of society comes to mind. It’s about people and what we do to each other. The timelines of history. It ’s not too late for us though to keep it positive and I still have tons of hope for the future. I’m not just talking about my own future. We all need to be a little nicer to each other, that ’s all. It ’s that easy. Or we are going to fall…

8 – Howlin’
I love the music of Howlin ’ Wolf and I wanted to pay my respects to the man. This one ’s for you Wolf!

9 – Buried In The Hail
Going deep into your own mind can be dangerous. It can be difficult even to get to the dangerous part, you can get stuck in there. Your own locked room. I was stuck there for a while but I got out, though I do go back from time to time. It’s about revisiting the horrors that I have encountered and the experiences I have lived through so far. I always leave these situations feeling a bit raw, a little edgy. You need to be broken into pieces with unknown substances and possess a bag of pure emotion to write a song like this. It ’s an acceptance that a part of life has had to be cut off to make it out alive. For example, your leg is stuck and the water is rising… cut it off!

10 – Lefty 2 Guns
A short story of a hitman. He ends this show by killing the parts I can ’t have anymore and he buries it all in the album cover and there’s nothing that can be done about it.

11 – Laid To Rest
The last gasp of music, the outro. Again, like the intro, I could have gone any direction with this one. It has a certain end game feel to it, a finality. Everything may seem personal on this album and a lot of it is, but it wasn ’t by design, as these songs are how I felt, and they are all played from the heart to heal and move on. A “refresh” of some sorts, to let go of the past as there is no future in history. Laid to rest says that symbolically with its silence.

HOWLING GIANT Release Title Track + Details of Forthcoming New Album “Glass Future”

Nashville, Tennessee cosmic stoner metal trio HOWLING GIANT has revealed the title track from their sophomore full-length “Glass Future”, which is scheduled for a release on October 27, 2023 via Magnetic Eye Records. The pre-sale is available at THIS LOCATION!

The second single ‘Glass Future’ comes in the shape of a high energy performance video, that is now streaming here:

HOWLING GIANT comment on the single: “The frenetic energy of ‘Glass Future’ is part of the overarching theme of our new record”, guitarist and singer Tom Polzine elaborates. “We’ve dabbled in apocalyptic songs through a scifi or fantasy lens in the past, but wanted to explore those themes in a more immediate way this time. Like the angel falling in the song: the world is fragile, don’t drop it.”

Tracklist

  1. Hourglass
  2. Siren Song
  3. Aluminium Crown
  4. In a Hurricane
  5. First Blood of Melchor
  6. Glass Future
  7. Tempest, and the Liar’s Gateway
  8. Sunken City
  9. Juggernaut
  10. There’s Time Now

Every song on HOWLING GIANT‘s sophomore album “Glass Future” tells its own story. Yet even without an overarching concept, all could exist within the same universe. Such crafty lyrical world-building is hardly surprising coming from a trio of enthusiastic fantasy and science fiction aficionados. “Glass Future” downright asks to inspire a book or graphic novel, even as it explodes with furious energy and thunderous acrobatics.

Musically, “Glass Future” offers a continuation and evolution of all the elements that made the debut album “The Space Between Worlds” (2019) such a success. HOWLING GIANT entice classic metal and hard rock to interact dynamically with spacy, prog-infused passages, desert and psychedelic metal moments, rock organs, catchy hooks, and top everything off with soaring harmonized vocals.

HOWLING GIANT hail from one of the most legendary places for music on earth: Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Despite the city’s reputation for assembly-line pop country, the town called Music City is a place of deep history, where brilliant songwriters and virtuoso session players keep dozens of musical legacies burning bright. Fertile ground, then, for a preeminent fuzz-psych power trio who consciously live in the pocket of that lineage.

Following a trilogy of EPs, “Howling Giant” (2015), “Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 1” (2016), and “Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 2” (2017), HOWLING GIANT delivered their debut full-length “The Space between Worlds” in 2019, which to the delight of their rapidly growing following and critics alike more than fulfilled the promise of the early releases.

To bridge the time until their new album, the trio released the “Masamune & Muramasa” split with Sergeant Thunderhoof in 2020 and the “Alteration” EP in 2021, the first releases with bassist Sebastian Baltes, the son of German metal legends ACCEPT’s former bass player Peter Baltes, fully integrated into the band as a co-writer.

HOWLING GIANT take a gargantuan leap forward with “Glass Future” that brings their outstanding musicianship and golden-throated triple vocal attack fully into stride. Nothing to do but try to keep up and enjoy the stunning sonic scenery along the way!

The beauty of Gaerea lies in the directness and simplicity found within their florid tapestry of extremity and aggression. Whether it is in the less-polished aural dynamite of their self-titled EP, or in the lustrous textures of ‘Mirage,’ Gaerea is building a mighty edifice of underground metal. With talons dipped in the inky blood of black metal and scraped across the flesh of human suffering, Gaerea is leading a charge into the future of darkness, and all those who find beauty and power in the dark side of existence would do well to take heed.

GLENN HUGHES to Perform Classic Hits from 50th Anniversary of DEEP PURPLE’s Legendary “Burn” Album on Upcoming U.S. Tour

Photography by Eric Duvet

GLENN HUGHES, the former bassist, and singer of Deep Purple, known to millions as the ‘Voice of Rock’, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and the front man for rock super group Black Country Communion, is pleased to announce an evening celebrating music from BURN and other classic hits from Deep Purple’s rich back catalog – during a tour that will mostly see him co-headlining with guitar great Yngwie Malmsteen.

Billed as “Glenn Hughes Performs The 50th Anniversary of Deep Purple’s BURN Live”, Hughes will perform classic hits from the legendary album, and the addition of Deep Purple MKIII and MKIV songs.

Glenn’s band will feature Soren Andersen (guitar), Ash Sheehan (drums) and Ed Roth (keyboards).

‘It was 50 years ago, in the summer of 1973, that the BURN album by Deep Purple was written at Clearwell castle in Gloucestershire UK,” reminisces Hughes. “It was recorded in October in Montreux, Switzerland.”

Continues Hughes, “We all became one in this centuries old castle in the UK countryside, it felt like Deep were a new band, with David (Coverdale) and I as new members, we couldn’t wait to start working on new song. The atmosphere was electric, in such amazing surroundings.”

“All the songs on Burn were written in the crypt/dungeon, underneath the great hall. We worked on a new song every day, and we were in the flow. Musically we would play, and work out ideas, and David and I would come up with vocal melodies that would later have lyrics. I remember it like it was yesterday.”

“As you could imagine, Ritchie Blackmore was in full prankster mode, Jon had warned me, and he rigged my room one night with a speaker that was hidden, and had ghostly voices delivered to my bedside.”

“The title track was the last song to be written. We came back from the pub, and went down into the crypt, and magic happened.”

Concludes Hughes, “It’s time to celebrate BURN, and I’m really looking forward to seeing you!”

DEEP PURPLE – THE STORY BEHIND “BURN”
Burn is the eighth studio album by the English rock band Deep Purple, written and recorded in 1973, and released in February 1974, the album was the first to feature then-unknown David Coverdale on vocals and Glenn Hughes, from Trapeze, on bass and vocals.

The album was recorded in Montreux, Switzerland, in November 1973, with the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio. With the addition of David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes, Purple’s hard rock sound became more boogie-oriented, incorporating elements of soul and funk, which would become much more prominent on the follow-up album, Stormbringer.

Burn hit #3 on the UK Albums Chart, #9 on the US Billboard 200, and #1 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Norway.

In 2004 Burn was remastered and released with bonus tracks. Coronarias Redig was recorded during the Burn recording sessions, used only as a B-side for the Might Just Take Your Life single in 1974. It appears as a bonus track (in remixed form) on the anniversary edition re-release. The 2004 remix version of Burn was later used in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.

In 2005 an unauthorized documentary about the album was produced as part of “The Ultimate Critical Review” series. It featured brand new interview with the original Deep Purple Mk III bassist and vocalist Glenn Hughes.

Lead single Might Just Take Your Life, released 4 March, was Deep Purple’s first UK single in two years.

The phenomenal title track started things off at full throttle, actually challenging the seminal Highway Star for the honor of best opener to any Deep Purple album, while showcasing the always impressive drumming of Ian Paice. The fantastic slow-boiling blues of Mistreated’s greatness qualifies it for the highest echelons of hard rock achievement, and therefore ranks as an essential item in the discography of any self-respecting music fan.

GLENN HUGHES – BIOGRAPHY

Glenn Hughes is an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the MK 3 line up of Deep Purple. He spent the formative years of his career as the beloved bassist and vocalist of the group and performed on the classic albums Burn (1974), Stormbringer (1974) and Come Taste The Band (1975).

The vocalist/bass guitarist/songwriter is a true original. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. Stevie Wonder once called Hughes his favorite white singer. The first important band Hughes was a member of that achieved notable success was Trapeze.

In 1973, Hughes joined Deep Purple. The trailblazing hard-rock legends had just weathered the departure of vocalist Ian Gillan and bass guitarist Roger Glover, but guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, keyboardist Jon Lord and drummer Ian Paice continued with the addition of Hughes and David Coverdale.

Since 1992, Hughes has toured extensively in Europe, Japan, and South America in support of solo albums. He’s recorded four studio albums with the multi-award-winning supergroup Black Country Communion featuring guitarist Joe Bonamassa, keyboardist Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater) and drummer Jason Bonham, son of the late Led Zeppelin legend John Bonham.

In 2016 he released his critically acclaimed solo album Resonate featuring the rock radio hit “Heavy”, and in 2017 he released Black Country Communion’s fourth studio album “BCCIV” to ecstatic reviews.

In 2019, Glenn joined the Dead Daises as their lead singer and bass guitarist, recorded two albums, Holy Ground (2021) and Radiance (2022) and toured the world.
