WOBBLER’s Lars Fredrik Frøislie Reveals Single ‘Et sted under himmelhvelvet’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 30, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: LARS FREDRIK FRØISLIE. Leave a comment

Up until now, LARS FREDRIK FRØISLIE was known as a member of Prog Rockers WOBBLER, but thanks to Karisma Records the keyboard player will release his debut solo album “Fire Fortellinger” on the 2nd June.

Inspired by renaissance music, 70s prog rock, especially from Italy, Norwegian 90s black metal, British rock and heavy metal  from the 60s and 70s, as well as folk music, jazz and psychedelic rock, Frøislie has created an album where each of its four tracks tells its own story, and today fans get to hear one of the tracks, “Et sted under himmelhvelvet”, which is available to stream or download from a number of services at this location.

About the track, Frøislie explained that “Et sted under himmelhvelvet” is a dreamy song which is “Possibly set in a Renaissance Garden near Florence. But in principle it can be anywhere where it feels good to be. It is partly about travelling to a place and feeling that you have been there before – only to find out that you had ancestors who lived there long ago”.

For “Fire Fortellinger” Frøislie takes on vocals and drums, as well as a formidable array of instruments including and a few tons of old analogue keyboards such as Hammond C3, Mellotron M400, Minimoog Model D, Chamberlin M-1, Yamaha CP70B, William de Blaise spinet, Hohner Clavinet D6, Rhodes MkII and an Arp Pro Soloist. With him is Nikolai Hængsle (ELEPHANT9, NEEDLEPOINT, BIGBANG, BAND OF GOLD etc.) on Rickenbacker 4003, Fender Jazz Bass, Fender Precision and Fender Telecaster Bass.

Written during the pandemic “Fire Fortellinger” could well have been a totally different beast, one destined for a new WOBBLER album. However, circumstances being what they were, Frøislie had to work on the material alone, thereby being able to preserve a degree of spontaneity that would not have been possible had it had to pass through the band process of rehearsals and recording.

“Fire Fortellinger” thus succeeds in preserving the impulsiveness of the original, allowing the audience to hear a finished work that is partly improvised and recorded in one take, free of any click tracks, auto-tune, MIDI or too much technology.

Track listing for “Fire Fortellinger” is as follows:
01. Rytter av dommedag
02. Et sted under himmelhvelvet
03. Jærtegn
04. Naturens katedral

With artwork by Frøislie himself “Fire Fortellinger” will be released in CD, Limited Edition LP and Digital formats and is now available to pre-order from the following:

Frøislie took advantage of the opportunities afforded by the pandemic to roam the countryside and draw inspiration from Norway’s past, which he then used to create the music and lyrics for “Fire Fortellinger”:

I dreamed myself back in time, and consumed music, art and literature from the old days. The music is characterized by this, and inspiration is drawn from, among other things, Snorre Sturlason, Sohlberg’s “Winter’s Night in the Mountains” and Hamsun’s “Growth of the Soil”. It is both a search back to an apparently more primitive time; as well as a quest back to nature and away from civilization and people.
I took many trips out to Raknehaugen in Romerike, as well as trips to an old cottage in Heidal and the home districts of Ringerike (with its many Viking graves and magical landscapes), and this can also be heard in the music.

It is this fascinating creative process that Frøislie explains in video series that describes the making of “Fire Fortellinger”. The first part can be seen at https://youtu.be/qApnt1EGBvM  and the second at  https://youtu.be/wl5fB6vDBBc

THESE BEASTS Unveil New Video + Single ‘Cocaine Footprints’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 30, 2023

THESE BEASTS release a dashing video for the track ‘Cocaine Footprints’ as the final single taken from their forthcoming new album “Cares, Wills, Wants”. The crushing new full-length from the Chicago sludgy noise rock trio is slated for release on April 21, 2023 via Magnetic Eye Records. The album pre-sale is available at THIS LOCATION!

THESE BEASTS comment: “There’s a bar near our rehearsal building that is sort of a hang out for bands and a great place to catch up with friends and talk music”, bass player and singer Todd Fabian relates. “One day, our friend Shirilla told us a hilarious story about someone calling the bar and asking him to find their cocaine. Of course, he told them no, but after getting off the phone, he did look over and saw these cocaine footprints coming out of the bathroom. Once we named the song that, the lyrics became an ambiguous story about our local hangout and our friends there. We also had a listening party at the bar one night after we got our test press and filmed a lot of it for the video.”

Tracklist:

  1. Code Name
  2. Cocaine Footprints
  3. Nervous Fingers
  4. Pecking Order
  5. Blind Eyes
  6. Southpaw
  7. $10 and Zero Effort
  8. Trap Door

“Friends will be friends”, legendary QUEEN frontman Freddy Mercury sang and added: “When you’re in need of love they give you care and attention” and “When you’re through with life and all hope is lost”. These words ring true for Chicago’s THESE BEASTS.

The sludgy noise rock trio found themselves in a challenging situation while creating their debut album, “Cares, Wills, Wants.” The lockdowns, which transformed the city and the band’s rehearsal space into something akin to a ghost town, coupled with the loss of friends and family, resulted in a flood of powerful and dark emotions that inevitably found their way into the lyrics and music of “Cares, Wills, Wants”.

With “Cares, Wills, Wants”, THESE BEASTS deliver the massive debut full-length that their steadily growing following has awaited in the wake of the band’s promising first two EPs “Salvor” (2016) and “These Beasts” (2019). Founded by three friends in Chicago, the type of somewhat goofy guys that you might find in any bar or bowling alley across the windy town, it was their mutual love for hard and loud guitar music, and inspiration from such acts as local heroes THE JESUS LIZARD that set them apart from others and bound them firmly together.

Not content with just listening to music and having played in other formations before, singer and guitarist Chris Roo together with drummer Keith Anderson had already joined forces to create music when bass player and vocalist Todd Fabian moved to Chicago. He soon turned out to be the missing link on both a personal and musical level, and out of this friendship, THESE BEASTS came into being in 2015.

The trio started playing locally and quickly gained a reputation as a fierce live act that led them across the United States and earned them a spot at the prestigious Day of Doom Fest in New York. With  “Cares, Wills, Wants”, THESE BEASTS aim to continue their conquest of the Americas, but also have every intention to jump across the pond.

“Cares, Wills, Wants” is an emotional rollercoaster ride in the clever disguise of a sludgy noise rock album. THESE BEASTS invite all their friends, old and new, to join their cathartic experience and begin healing through hard music with a brain. Let this record roar!

Line-Up:

Chris Roo – vocals, guitar
Todd Fabian – vocals, bass
Keith Anderson – drums

SCREAMING BONES Signs with Wormholedeath Records for Reissue of “And It’ll All Be Good” Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 30, 2023

Solo instrumental heavy psychedelic project SCREAMING BONES has signed with Wormholedeath Records for the reissue of its latest album, “And It’ll All Be Good,” on April 28, 2023.

The album takes the listener on a journey through psychedelic guitar sounds, sweet hypnotic flute tones, and heavy riffs, creating a unique sonic landscape that engages the senses and captures the imagination.

Mike Ludwig, the mastermind behind Screaming Bones, stated, “The best things in life happen out of the blue when you don’t expect them. My music being distributed through Wormholedeath is a dream come true. I feel happy and welcomed in the WHD family, thanks for taking me on!”

“And It’ll All Be Good” is a result of endless sound experiments, digging into the very nature of sound creation, sound enrichment, and sound sculpturing. The album features classic guitar-dominated tracks such as “Ghost Ride” and “Leave Me Alone,” but also takes guitar sounds to a different level when sounds are repeated endlessly while being warped and twisted in crazy delay lines and dystopic reverbs as can be heard in tracks like “Dragonfly” or “Hive Song.”

The tracks on “And it’ll all be good” don’t have a common theme, but each of their musical seeds has been born in a dream-like state, and some of them have grown to sonic monsters that had to be tamed to create repeating patterns and themes that take the listener onto a musical journey they have not taken before. The music on this album is a gem, a flower, a tree that grows a bit more every time you listen to it. What seems like random chaos at first becomes a warped melody of unreal beauty.

Screaming Bones’ music exists to fill your headspace. It will take you on an endless journey if you are willing to let yourself immerse in the music. The music will touch something deep inside you when you listen to it and let it unfold.

“And It’ll All Be Good” tracklist

1 – Ghost Ride
2 – Dragonfly
3 – Raindrops
4 – A Space Opera, Pt.1
5 – Early Morning Brain Chaos
6 – Leave Me Alone
7 – Hive Song
8 – A Psychedelic Tune for Your Afternoon Tea
9 – A Space Opera, Pt.2
10 – Sleep Well, My Friend, Sweet Dreams

Experience the hypnotic rhythms and haunting melodies of Screaming Bones’ ‘Ghost Ride’ come to life in a mesmerizing visual journey – watch now!

Finnish VOLUCRINE to Release Third Album Later in 2023, Three Singles Already Out

VOLUCRINE are a Finnish alternative metal band with an undisputed attitude and a style to match the erratic human mind. The band make their music with a therapeutic mindset and aspire to resonate with just about anyone with its humane themes; there are no dragons flying or swords clanging in the band’s lyrics. Born from the grey shadows of their hometown and the coldness of Kymijoki, Volucrine’s strength lies in its ability to combine Finnish melancholy and sense of melody with the expressive language of te chnical and modern metal. Deep and personal lyrics accompany the crushing low guitar parts and rhythmically versatile drum arrangements. The ensemble is tied together with a dialogue of extreme vocal styles, so that not a single tone from the palette is left uninterpreted, from the black of Kouvola’s licorice to the grey of the concrete walls of Volucrine’s hometown.

The band have been working diligently on their new album “ETNA” and two singles from the upcoming LP have already been released, in addition to a relentless cover of Blur’s classic “Song 2”. The title song “ETNA”, which borrows its name from the volcano, introduces Volucrine’s more classic mid-tempo and riff-oriented style, accentuating the band’s return to a heavier expression, while the corona-era power song “Combatant” boldly pushes into the realm of modern alternative and contemporary metal. The band have updated their arsenal and 7-string guitars have taken the lead to create the band’s heaviest album ever! “ETNA” is bound to be released later this year.
