The current advance HOWLING GIANT single ‘Sunken City‘ taken from their forthcoming album is streaming here:
HOWLING GIANT – Despite Nashville’s reputation for assembly-line pop country, the town called Music City is a place of deep history, where brilliant songwriters and virtuoso session players keep dozens of musical legacies burning bright. Nashville’s preeminent fuzz-psych power trio HOWLING GIANT live in the pocket of that lineage. HOWLING GIANT formed nearly ten years ago. From day one, the trio locked into a musical groove of thunderous metal, proggy acrobatics, psychedelic flourishes and soaring melodic vocals, telling stories of fantasy and adventure with such sheer force of will that they seemed capable of opening a window to other dimensions. As an enticing taste of things to come, HOWLING GIANT release the digital single ‘Sunken City’ from the upcoming album before hitting the road.
HEAVY TEMPLE crashed forth like a roaring mastodon in a thunderstorm with their first official full-length, “Lupi Amoris,” an album with all the markings of a landmark record. As progressive as BARONESS but unselfconscious, as heavy as FU MANCHU but more adventurous, this Philadelphia trio throw every lever in the riff-metal machine, yet also wield lyrical concepts that register on literary levels. “Lupi Amoris” offers a one-way trip through wide-open spaces and deep forests. HEAVY TEMPLE came into being on the 2012 winter solstice in pursuit of the pure fun and joy of playing heavy music, at first performing locally in Philly, then gaining an excellent live reputation which led to tours alongside RUBY THE HATCHET, MOTHERSHIP, ROYAL THUNDER, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY and THE OBSESSED. Invitations to notable festivals included The Maryland Doom Fest, Psycho Las Vegas, and Decibel Metal & Beer, among many others. Although HEAVY TEMPLE leverage all the trappings of traditionally male-oriented metal (to the point that their sound could proudly sport a full beard), the powerful presence of frontwoman and founding member High Priestess Nighthawk merges their glorious heaviness with a strong thematic line of feminine strength. “Lupi Amoris” is Latin for “Wolves of Love,” and finds the Philly outfit aligning with a Red Riding Hood who is freed from the traditional bonds of what’s expected. Proving that it’s quite possible to hammer out gargantuan stoner doom and still say something about life’s realities, HEAVY TEMPLE make a fierce and much-needed statement with “Lupi Amoris”, and at these volumes, the world is guaranteed to hear it.
Hot off the heels of their critically acclaimed full-length album Bleed to Life, alternative metal rockers VONAVIBE just revealed a new music video for their epic rock/metal ballad “Hold On“. This is the fourth music video taken from their new full-length album Bleed to Life which was released on May 26, 2023 via Eclipse Records. The video was directed by John Margetousakis. The album was produced by Dyon and mastered by John Christodoulatos at Sweetspot Productions.
“Hold On is a song about a love between two people that haven’t met yet” says lead vocalist and guitarist Dyon. “We all walk alone in an endless sea of people, through a reality on repeat hoping that someday we will meet a person that will end this repetition. And when we find that person we hope that the repeating reality has not altered the nature of being true. Life can be cruel and unforgiving and sometimes it is quite easy to forget who we really are and what we really need in order to be happy. So easy, that happiness can hit us between the eyes and not even feel a thing. The two dancers are portraying the tale of a couple. They meet, and come closer and closer. Until they are one, feeling what each other feels, sustaining through blows until one day they realize that it was all just a dream, only to wake up in a black and white reality.”
The new album by Vonavibe is entitled Bleed To Life. The band’s third release contains ten amazing songs and it was released worldwide on May 26, 2023.Bleed to Life is an album that redefines the sound barrier at least in terms of raw power. We often informally refer to that massive rhythm guitar, bass, and percussion vibe as a “Wall of Sound,” and the first bands that come to mind are Black Sabbath and Metallica. More veritably, the “Wall of Sound” was introduced in the 1960s by record producer Phil Spector, who invented a dense orchestral studio aesthetic made of layering, echo, spill, and mono. Currently, Vonavibe have sonically restructured this idea, and Bleed to Life does not simply give us a “Wall.” It builds us a grand fortress. Besides the addictive hooks, intricate dynamics, clever drum pattering, and diverse vocals, the guitar interplay on Bleed to Life, is exceptional. Part of this is a result of the technical production, writing, and studio performances, but more viscerally, it feels to the listener like becoming a tidal wave, a volcano, a hurricane, pick your simile. Of course, rhythm chords and repetitive riffing are often used as mere background to the verses, choruses, and platform solos, but Vonavibe create a world where the rhythm guitar is unique like a “vocalist,” with the lead guitar becoming an exotic superhero.

Vocalist/guitarist Andy Clarke shares his insights:
“In the haunting melody of ‘Thy Nazarene,’ we delve into the profound impact of human actions upon one another. It urges us to reflect upon the consequences of our choices, often underestimating the lasting effects they may have. Conversely, ‘March of the Worm’ grants us an intimate glimpse into specific relationships, examining how the behaviours of others can become deeply ingrained within us. The overarching theme of futility gracefully interconnects both tracks, emphasising that regardless of our actions, the ultimate destination remains the same: nothingness.”
