THE ARCANE ORDER Share First Single ‘Cry of Olympus’ from Upcoming Album

Danish extreme metal quintet THE ARCANE ORDER returns with its fourth album “Distortions From Cosmogony” set for a June 9th release via Black Lion Records.

With its new experienced line-up, the band has created an epic metal album within its singular style combining the extreme, the grandiose, technical and melodic while telling the story of mankind’s eternal existential conflict between autonomy and submission. Featuring members of renowned acts such as Soilwork, Møl and HateSphere, THE ARCANE ORDER are true masters of their craft and have today released the album’s first single with the track “Cry of Olympus”.

Stream the single at THIS LOCATION or watch the video here:

Lead singer Kim Song Sternkorpf on “Cry of Olympus”:
“The Cry of Olympus is the first single from the album and probably the most progressive of the songs on the album. We purposely wanted to create a song that would work well as a first impression of the new album and a gateway into the rest of the songs on the album.

Can man handle true power or will it be his undoing? Cry of Olympus is as classical as a tale of hubris gets. A mortal challenging fate by aspiring to climb as high as one can get to fall just as far. Because all heroes can fail us. That’s what makes us human.“

Tracklist reads as follows:

  1. Distortions From Cosmogony
  2. Cry Of Olympus
  3. A Blinding Trust In Chosen Kings
  4. Starvations for Elysium
  5. Favors For Significance
  6. The First Deceiver
  7. Empedocles’ Dream
  8. Ideals Of Wretched Kingdoms
  9. Children Of Erebos
  10. Wings of Duality

The band’s upcoming fourth album is a 54 minutes long virtuosic display of THE ARCANE ORDER’s unique fusion of death, black, tech, classic and melodic metal. The band’s skillful balancing of the epic and aggressive, the extreme and melodic and of the technical and catchy is unfolded in a dramatic songwriting taking the band’s expression to new heights, while demanding complete devotion from the listener – who are equally rewarded, if this is delivered.

In the same manner, the subject matter of THE ARCANE ORDER demands a will to immerse oneself, look inwards and to be challenged. “Distortions From Cosmogony” revolves around humankind’s eternal existential struggle of division between autonomy and submission, internally as well as externally. The album dives into the distortion and transition taking place, when humans project their incompleteness into the creation of gods and their counterparts, here on earth as well as beyond. Humans have always told stories about itself and the world with cosmogonies carrying reward and punishment as the most archetypal narratives. The album asks the eternal questions about who we are, which narratives shape us and if these will forever determine our species. These fundamental existential questions find their natural habitat in THE ARCANE ORDER’s unique, visionary extreme metal on “Distortions from Cosmogony”.

As the previous three, THE ARCANE ORDER’s new album “Distortions from Cosmogony” is recorded by Jacob Hansen (Aborted, Arch Enemy, Volbeat, Katatonia a.o.) and in addition Jacob Bredahl (Lifesick, Eyes, Livløs ao.) has recorded vocals, while the guitars were tracked in Flemming C. Lund’s home studio.

“Distortions from Cosmogony” will be released on 2-LP, CD and physical formats and can be pre-ordered at THIS LOCATION while digital formats can be pre-saved HERE

THE ARCANE ORDER is:
Kim Song Sternkopf – Vocals
Flemming C. Lund: Guitar
Kasper Kierkegaard: Guitar
Anders Frodo S. Mikkelsen – Bass
Bastian Thusgaard – Drums

SCAR SYMMETRY Announce First Album in Nine Years “The Singularity (Phase II – Xenotaph)”, Release Video for First Single ‘Scorched Quadrant’

Nine years since the first installment of ‘The Singularity Trilogy’, virtuosic progressive metallers SCAR SYMMETRY, who recently re-signed to Nuclear Blast Records, have announced The Singularity (Phase II – Xenotaph) which will be released on 9th June. To coincide with the announcement, the band have also released the video for the albums first single ‘Scorched Quadrant’.

In the wake of the announcement, band mastermind Per Nilsson comments “It brings us the utmost pleasure and pride to announce the long-awaited and much-teased ‘Phase II’ to the world along with its first single! It’s been a long time coming but I’m glad that we went the extra mile to make everything as perfect as we felt it needed to be.

The world is a different place in 2023 than it was in 2014 when ‘Neohumanity’ was released… We see the rise of AI before our very eyes and while we all look in awe at the wonders it can create it is easy to think of some very disturbing scenarios. In our new album, we once again explore these themes of neohumanity, artificial intelligence and the technological singularity from a dystopian point of view.

The AI-enhanced neohumans are waging war upon the unmodified majority of mankind who don’t stand a chance against their technologically superior oppressors, until one day, a glimmer of salvation appears in the night sky. Almost impossible to first take in; as an utterly alien mirage, seemingly out of nowhere mysterious, giant spacecrafts silently emerge from the heavens. Travelers both intergalactic and interdimensional, these ultraterrestrial beings who have been watching mankind for millennia seem to have decided to not sit idle while the technocalyptic cybergeddon is ravaging our planet.

We recently renewed our vows with Nuclear Blast and we’re very thrilled about moving on to this next phase (ahem) of our career with them by our side!

The ‘Phase II’ touring cycle starts today and fittingly, we begin with a tour supporting my former employers Meshuggah! We hope to see you all on the road soon, but until then, here’s Scorched Quadrant!”

The Singularity (Phase II – Xenotaph)Tracklisting:

1. Chrononautilus
2. Scorched Quadrant
3. Overworld
4. Altergeist
5. Reichsfall
6. Digiphrenia Dawn
7. Hyperborean Plains

About SCAR SYMMETRY

Formed in Sweden in 2004, SCAR SYMMETRY were a unique proposition from the start. Although clearly owing a debt to the pioneering melodic death metal bands of the ‘90s, guitarist Per Nilsson and his comrades were walking their own evolutionary path. As showcased on 2005 debut Symmetric In Design, the band were driven by fervently progressive and proudly melodic instincts, infusing their often brutal riffs and arrangements with wild, futuristic atmospherics, and sublime, emotional melodies that always hit their targets with ruthless precision.

As SCAR SYMMETRY moved forward, their music continued to evolve in tandem. They joined forces with Nuclear Blast Records for 2006’s breakthrough opus Pitch Black Progress (2006), and have since amassed an extraordinary catalogue of forward-thinking but irrevocably crushing modern metal. From the glossy, hyper-melodic barrage of Holographic Universe (2008), to the immaculate thunder of The Unseen Empire (2011) and the astonishing, cosmic odyssey that is The Singularity (Phase I – Neohumanity) (2014). the Swedes have blown minds and enhanced their reputation with every artistic step.

SCAR SYMMETRY is
Roberth Karlsson – Vocals
Lars Palmqvist – Vocals
Per Nilsson – Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Keyboards
Benjamin Ellis – Guitars
Henrik Olsson – Drums

Enjoy the new album, happy release day!”

Chapter III – Downfall bewitches with an innovative sound full of soaring melodic splendor juxtaposed against brooding, dark and even gothic heaviness. Exploring concepts of Ancient Egyptian history and mythology, AD INFINITUM melds a perfect balance of storytelling and technically sophisticated songwriting, spreading their wings in both areas of production and lyricism. AD INFINITUM add:
“For this album, we explored stories and legends of Ancient Egypt with, as star character and main inspiration, Cleopatra. We added some extra dimension and sounds to our signature AD INFINITUM sound to create an extra dimension, transporting the listener to mystical landscapes of another era.
