After Austrian Symphonic power metal heroes DRAGONY rewrote the history of their country with their latest studio album, Viribus Unitis, it’s time today to dive into the days when Austria was ruled by emperor Franz Joseph and his wife, empress Sisi, once more. Forget everything you’ve heard and read so far! According to DRAGONY, Austrian history took a completely different turn.

This is proven once again on their brand new single “The Dead Queen’s Race”. Together with Red Eye Temple lead vocalist Maria Nesh performing as guest singer on the track, DRAGONY deliver a powerful and energetic follow up to their epic release and provide this concept another exciting angle. Accompanied by a visually awesome lyric video, the song is now available on all streaming services worldwide!

DRAGONY about “The Dead Queen’s Race”:
“DRAGONY bids farewell to their latest album, Viribus Unitis, released in 2021, with the new, previously unreleased single ‘The Dead Queen’s Race’! The brand new up-tempo track adds another chapter to the alternative history saga established in the concept of the Viribus Unitis album, and puts empress Elisabeth, the undead Empress of the Damned, and the character of white mage Harry Houdini, in center focus. The part of Elisabeth is performed by Red Eye Temple lead vocalist Maria Nesh as guest singer, who contributes a colorful vocal mix of clean and extreme vocals to add another layer to the DRAGONY sound. Join us one more time on our journey back to our fictionalized version of fin-de-siècle Vienna and partake in ‘The Dead Queen’s Race’!”

On the album, DRAGONY are supported by well-known colleagues like Tommy Johansson (SABATON, MAJESTICA, SYMPHONY OF TRAGEDY), Tomas Svedin (SYMPHONY OF TRAGEDY), Michele Guaitoli (VISIONS OF ATLANTIS) and Georg Neuhauser (SERENITY) – just to name a few. Mixing and mastering on Viribus Unitis was handled by Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann of ORDEN OGAN in his Greenman Studios in Germany.

Founded in 2007 and after releasing three studio records, DRAGONY return to their rock opera roots on this latest output!

Siegfried Samer on Viribus Unitis:
“Viribus Unitis marks both a return to our musical roots as well as a next step into the future for DRAGONY, as we are returning to a ‘rock opera concept’ album similar to our debut Legends, but at the same time, we have evolved musically and are delivering what we consider our heaviest and most diverse album to date.

And even though we are taking a bit of a creative approach with the source material, the concept story of the album is deeply intertwined with the history of Austria and in particular with the end of the Habsburg monarchy, which is often romanticized in Austria and ingrained in our collective consciousness. We are therefore thrilled to be able to release this very special album on an Austrian label, Napalm Records, and hope that both old and new fans of DRAGONY will enjoy the brand new songs!”

Viribus Unitis tracklist:
1. On the Blue Danube
2. Gods of War
3. Love You to Death
4. Magic
5. Darkness Within
6. A.E.I.O.U.
7. Viribus Unitis
8. Golden Dawn
9. Made of Metal (Cyberpunk Joseph)
10. Battle Royale

GHOSTS OF SUNSET Release New Album “Breathe”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 20, 2023

GHOSTS OF SUNSET have returned with our latest fix of melodic hard rock – Breathe. The band’s duo of singer-songwriters John Merchant (former Dutch Henry frontman) and multi-instrumentalist Todd Long (previously with the Verve Pipe) had last drawn attention to themselves in 2020 with their debut EP, Headed West, and 2022 follow-up LP, No Saints in the City.

Ghosts of Sunset not only pays homage to the 1980s hair metal scene they grew up on (Quiet Riot, Ratt, Mötley Crüe, Warrant, Faster Pussycat, GNR, etc.), but for music fans whose tastes run deep, Breathe touches upon post-punk aggression, melodic rock choruses and a quirky Cheap Trick spin on top of it all. From the lead-off track, “Afterthought,” to the straight rocker “Move Along,” and pop rocker “Gettin’ Over You” they cover it all on their latest release.  The album made the Top 100 Amazon list while lead- off track, “Afterthought,” has been getting spins on rock radio.

Hear “Breathe” here: https://ada.lnk.to/GOSbreathe

The writing and recording process for Breathe was a bit unconventional, and at the same time par for the course with 21st century technology. “We did all our recording via file sharing,” says Long. “First, one of us will have an idea, and then we just start sending mp3s back and forth while building the track up. After a basic track was completed, we’d then seek out who we feel might be right to put a guitar solo on it. If they like the track, then we proceed. If they don’t, then that’s fine too. We just hoped they feel connected enough to the track to want to contribute.”

Merchant continues, “The opportunity to make a follow up full-length album was an absolute blessing and a daunting task. Unlike some writers, we’re always hoping our influences are noticeable, but we want them to be surprising and revealing as well. With this set of songs, we wanted to keep the door open for anything that moved us. They tell you where they want to go and we are open to whatever gets them to their destination. These songs take listeners from such sweeping landscapes as an Asian spy adventure, to something as internal and personal as the struggle of loving someone battling addiction. The musical compositions are as important as the lyrics to tell the stories that need to be told.”

Deko Entertainment president, Bruce Pucciarello, states on signing the band, “Todd and John offer up a wonderful collection of new tunes on their new album, Breathe.  Every entry is extremely well written and performed…definitely going to be listening to this one for a long time!”

THE MON: Ufomammut Bassist/Vocalist Announces Second Solo LP “Eye”, Feat. Guests from Neurosis, Amenra & More; Video for New Single ‘Where’ Out Now

THE MON is the solo project of Urlo, who is most widely known as the lead vocalist, bassist, synth player and one of the founding members of the heavy psych Italian band Ufomammut. He is also one of the three minds behind the poster art trio Malleus Rock Art Lab, and one of the operators of Supernatural Cat Records.

The aim of THE MON is to reach the boundaries of a spiritual soundscape in which the music becomes purification and atonement, a way to bring out the world that is inside the human soul. Where Ufomammut creates mind-expanding, heavy psychedelic, almost other-dimensional sounds, THE MON is far more intimate, looking inward, as Urlo explores and examines his innermost thoughts through music. THE MON builds layers of brooding sounds which sometimes unfurl at a glacial pace and other times lurch with rhythmic propulsion, each piece distinct, densely packed, and all-consuming in their evocative atmospheres.

THE MON’s debut LP, Doppelleben, was released in 2018, and in the years since released a digital audio/video EP My Rotten Heart featuring Colin H. Van Eeckhout (Amenra). Now, 2023 sees the project prepared to release its second LP, Eye.

By comparison to its predecessor, Eye is more introspective and denser, the new record built around electronic soundscapes and acoustic atmospheres that take you on a sonic journey where the songs flow nonstop into one another. While Urlo performs the entire musical foundation of the album, he is joined by a cast of special guests, with vocal/lyrical contributions from Steve Von Till (Neurosis) and Colin H. Van Eeckhout (Amenra), and Francesca De Franceschi Manzoni, as well as violins from Sarah Pendleton (Subrosa, The Otolith), and guitars from David W. (White Hills).

Eye was written, performed, produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Urlo at The Howl, Italy, and the artwork completed by the Malleus Rock Art Lab collective. While choosing a singular genre for THE MON’s Eye is surely a difficult challenge, one could classify the album as heavy dark folk electronic.

The first preview of THE MON’s Eye is a video created by Malleus for the track “Where”,
watch the clip now streaming here:

“Once Doppelleben was out, I wanted to write something different, go deeper into my emotions, create a more intimate and particular album,“ Urlo comments.

“I started building up acoustic parts, playing around just guitar and vocals, or  bass and vocals, and then I began structuring sound layers that would reinforce these sonic bones.
Then I invited some friends to create something special for me and for those who would listen to the record, curious to see how my music could be transformed by some of the artists I respect a lot, like Steve Von Till, Colin of Amenra, Dave W. of White Hills and Sarah Pendleton of Suborna, now in Otolith.

The final result is a very important album for me, a little pearl that I am incredibly happy to share with that world that has been a great inspiration for me. EYE is my third eye, my conscience. It’s a challenge, a record born in a period in which we were forced to stay closed in our homes, blocked in our thoughts by a situation that changed our lives and our relationships deeply. Suddenly we found ourselves in a different world.

This record is dedicated to what could have been, but it is simply what is now: our present.“

Supernatural Cat will release Eye on limited 12” colored vinyl, digipak CD, and all digital services on May 26th. The album pre-sale is now available at THIS LOCATION!

LIV KRISTINE Presents Official Video for New Single ‘In Your Blue Eyes’

LIV KRISTINE presents the official video for the new single “In Your Blue Eyes”.

The second single from Liv Kristine’s upcoming studio album “River Of Diamonds” (Metalville Records – street date 21.04.2023). The catchy midtempo song impressively brings the extraordinary voice of the queen of Scandinavian Gothic Metal to the fore.

The video for “In Your Blue Eyes” can be watched below.

She started off in her enchanting style and angelic singing-manner with five albums composed by Theatre of Tragedy (1993-2003), her own releases „Deus ex Machina“ (1998), „Enter my Religion“ (2006), „Skintight (2010), „Libertine (2012) and „Vervain (2014), next to five Leaves’ Eyes albums (2004-2015), which gained the bands worldwide attention and recognition.

In 1993 Liv Kristine embarked on a unique and courageous musical path, exploring, redefining, making way, until she became one of the most recognizable voices within the worldwide female voice metal movement.

Her autodidactic way into music and career reflects her strong individuality and courage to create with a free artistic heart, inviting her audience to experience musical and tonal aesthetics on a highly individual and elevating level.

She rose to world-wide fame already in the early nineties with her Norwegian band THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, moreover, as a solo artist, then in the new millennium with LEAVES’ EYES and various projects. For more than 25 years, she’s been and still is a fine inspiration for artists and bands worldwide within her authentic brand of Goth, Metal and Rock, being nominated for the Grammy Award (2005). Her musical achievements are numerous, e.g. a GRAMMY AWARD nomination for the song “Nymphetamine” in cooperation with Cradle of Filth, 500.000 records sold with THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, touring more than 50 countries, including repetitive hits in the official charts with her solo releases and her follow-up band LEAVES’ EYES, as well as European club, DJ, dance, rock and alternative charts. She also lent her voice to title tracks for popular TV series like “Tatort” and “Schimanski”. LIV KRISTINE has released more than 15 full-length albums with her bands since 1995.

VULTURE INDUSTRIES Return to Dark Essence Records for Fifth Full-Length Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 20, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Vulture Industries. Leave a comment

Dark Essence Records have announced that VULTURE INDUSTRIES will be making a very welcome return back to the label’s roster, and that preparations are under way for the release of the band’s fifth full-length album.

Rising from out of the ashes of the Goth band DEAD ROSE GARDEN in 2003, VULTURE INDUSTRIES established a lineup formed of Bjørnar Erevik Nilsen on vocals and keys, Eivind Huse on guitars and vocals, Øyvind Madsen on guitars, Kyrre Teigen on bass and vocals, and Tor Helge Gjengedal  on drums.  It was a lineup that gelled right from the outset and has remained unchanged for two decades now.

Releasing two critically acclaimed albums, “Dystopia Journals” and “The Malefactor’s Bloody Register”, and touring extensively during their first four years, VULTURE INDUSTRIES perfected their stagecraft and forged a reputation as a theatrical and hugely entertaining live act.

The release of “The Tower” in 2013 and 2017’s “Stranger Times” demonstrated just what a wide appeal VULTURE INDUSTRIES has, both on stage and in the studio.  The fact that the band collaborated with a variety of artists undoubtedly aided in their audience’s growing enthusiasm, but it also showed how many established names, both musical and artistic, wanted to be part of the VULTURE INDUSTRIES experience.

The only other official release since then was 2019’s single “Deeper” in 2019, which became the band’s most streamed song with 1,5 million plays on Spotify, and “Matpakkevise” on Jubaleumsplate, which was a tribute to the Norwegian artist Knudsen og Ludvigsen.

It was then that the world as we knew it changed with the arrival of the pandemic and halted any plans any band may have had for tours and new albums.  Although VULTURE INDUSTRIES did enter a state of creative hibernation, they did, nevertheless, manage to spread some happiness amongst their fans by producing and streaming shows from historic locations around Bergen, one from the town’s last public brothel and the other from a historical cloth factory, along with some Covid-Safe concerts in Norway.

With the world opening up again, VULTURE INDSTRIES played a number of festivals during 2022 which whetted the band’s appetite for creativity, and, with a renewed enthusiasm, they entered the studio and began finalizing the composing and recording of “Ghosts from the Past” which will be released in June of this year – more details will follow.

The following live appearances have so far been confirmed for VULTURE INDUSTRIES this year:

15 Apr – Kvarteret, Bergen: 20 year anniversary (NO)
28 Apr – Ogna Scene, Ogna (NO)
16 Jun – Vaterland, Oslo (NO)
17 Jun – Good Omens, Trondheim (NO)
28/29 Jul – Artmania Festival, Sibiu (RO)

More information about VULTURE INDUSTRIES can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/vultureindustries/ and on the band’s website  at http://www.vulture-industries.ne

A video of VULTURE INDUSTRIES performing the track “Strangers” from the “Strange Times” album can be seen below.
