THE COLD STARES Share Live Performance Video for Latest Single ‘Got No Right’, New Album Out Now

Indiana blues-rock outfit THE COLD STARES have released ‘Voices,’ their explosive new full-length album, out now via Mascot Records. Self-produced by the band and recorded almost entirely over the course of just two days with engineer Mark Needham (Taj Mahal, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Walk the Moon, Fleetwood Mac), ‘Voices’ stands as The Cold Stares’ most mature, eclectic collection yet, balancing gritty muscle and tender emotion in equal measure. To celebrate the release, the band has shared a live performance video for the album’s latest single “Got No Right,” an upbeat jam about not being able to leave a bad relationship for all the right reasons. Watch HERE.

“We approached ‘Voices’ as each song being an idea or a film to itself, giving each effort its own ‘voice,’” guitarist/vocalist Chris Tapp explains. “I think they still work well together, but provide the listener a little bit more of a journey through the course of the album than we’ve provided in the past.”

For the past ten years, The Cold Stares have toured the world relentlessly as a duo, blowing away audiences across the US and Europe with a fierce, blistering live show that belied their bare bones, guitar-and-drums setup. Now, the band is embracing a whole new kind of chemistry as they launch their next chapter, adding a third member and channeling the classic power trio sound they grew up on with their explosive new album. “The chains were off when we made this record,” says Tapp. “Suddenly, all the parameters that had dictated what we could and couldn’t do just disappeared and we were free to create whatever sound we wanted.”

That sense of total artistic liberation lies at the heart of Voices, which pushes The Cold Stares’ signature mix of blues, southern, and hard rock to bold new heights. It would have been easy for Tapp and drummer Brian Mullins to simply crank the volume here, but instead they make the most of bassist Bryce Klueh’s arrival by getting more nuanced and adventurous in their approach, chasing a raw, unvarnished sound that manages to feel both vintage and modern all at once. Add it all up and you’ve got a gutsy, cinematic record that’s as honest as it is exhilarating, a high-octane dose of unadulterated rock and roll that tips its cap to everything from Cream to Led Zeppelin as it reckons with love and loss, sin and redemption, hope and regret.

A lot of these tunes deal with really personal things that have been on my mind for a while,” says Tapp. “I just had to live enough life and get enough experience under my belt to know how to talk about them, to know how to feel comfortable opening up those veins and sharing whatever came out.”

Characters fueled by similarly desperate longings—for hope, for purpose, for comfort—turn up throughout the record. The haunting “The Ghost” features Southern Gothic and western overtones, while the epic anthem “Nothing But The Blues” wrestles with hard times in a down-and-out town. The release of ‘Voices’ follows album singles “Throw That Stone,” a cinematic track that channels some of the greatest artists in gospel blues, and “The Joy,” which draws from Pink Floyd as it revels in the happiness that comes with finding your true soulmate. “This song takes a step outside of our normal catalog and tackles the topic of finding happiness after heartache,” Tapp explains.

Track list

  1. Nothing But The Blues
  2. Come For Me
  3. The Joy
  4. Lights Out
  5. Got No Right
  6. Sorry I Was Late
  7. Voices
  8. Waiting On The Rain
  9. Sinnerman
  10. Throw That Stone
  11. It’s Heavy
  12. Thinking About Leaving Again
  13. The Ghost

Launched in 2012, The Cold Stares got their start when longtime friends Tapp and Mullins agreed to team up for a fill-in gig that caught them both by surprise. With a sound far bigger than any duo should rightfully have been able to create, the pair of Kentucky natives began turning heads almost immediately, releasing a series of acclaimed albums that landed them on the road with the likes of Larkin Poe, Rival Sons, Reignwolf, Spoon, Grand Funk Railroad, and Thievery Corp, among others. American Songwriter praised the group’s “hard-won commitment, honesty, and intensity,” while No Depression hailed their sound as a “roots rocking firestorm,” and tunes from their albums turned up everywhere from ESPN and TNT to the hit video game Cyberpunk 2077.

After wrapping up touring for 2021’s ‘Heavy Shoes’ (their fifth studio album and debut release for Mascot Records), Tapp and Mullins returned to their adopted hometown of Evansville, Indiana, with a decision to make. The band’s sound had been growing increasingly elaborate in the studio, but unless they wanted to start playing along to pre-recorded backing tracks onstage, they were reaching a point where they wouldn’t be able to faithfully replicate their tunes anymore as a duo.

“We’d been a two-piece for a decade, so it wasn’t something we took lightly,” says Tapp. “But we’d also known Bryce for a long time and knew he’d fit right in.”

SILVEROLLER – Feat. Aaron Keylock – Have Big Plans for Coming Months with New Music + Shows

SILVEROLLER, the new band featuring Aaron Keylock, is ready to hit the ground running with new music, a new label and a growing level of excitement and anticipation! Having recently signed to Golden Robot Records, Silveroller have big plans for the coming months with new music hitting the airwaves in spring and shows later in the year, both guaranteed to make their mark in a big way with both old and new fans.

About his decision to put together this new formation, Aaron states:
“To me a band name was the natural next step, an evolution. We wanted to step away a little from what had come pre lockdown, the people around us at the time told us a new band, new name wasn’t possible. We believe that, not only was it very possible, but also a necessity to become what we are. The name really came from a list of Western movies I was looking at, Silver Lode, The Silver Rider, Three Silver Dollars, movies like that all sounded really cool to me, Silver kept popping up! The ‘Roller’ part came from us wanting to make it sound like it was moving, like one of those big old steam trains, or a Cadillac rolling around Chicago in the 1950s, something that would bring that travelling rock n’ roll circus to life and get it on the road. This isn’t just a band of mates thrown together from the same town, this is a band of folks from all over the country who cover miles to play together, dedicated to the music and each other, with no fixed abode. None of us knew each other before the band.

The future is ours to take really. We’ll be forever grateful to the people at Golden Robot Records for putting so much faith in us and letting us follow our instincts and belief in ourselves, especially when people around us previously had told us otherwise. Now it’s on us to deliver the dream, a rock n roll band that lives by its music. The songs are everything, and we want to take those songs around the world to the rock n’ roll starved folks. We can’t wait to get the record out and let everybody know who we are and what we stand for. If you’re a fan of your rock n’ roll outfits being covered in denim, patchouli and sweat, come and join the travelling rock n roll circus.”

With their own inimitable blend of high energy, rock n roll stylings, Silveroller throw their music out with a low slung, loose hipped swagger that is seriously infectious and utterly irresistible. Their songs act as a rallying call for those that believe that the most important thing in life is to be free, with subtle undertones of protest songs from days gone by, cut live on the studio floor by the band with all the fire and aggression this music deserves.

The evolution of Silveroller is here, and every bit as fabulous as expected from these hugely talented musicians!

KÄRBHOLZ Release Video for New Single ‘Gar Nichts’

KÄRBHOLZ present the official video for “Gar nichts”, the new single from the upcoming new studio album “Kapitel 11: Barrikaden” coming out via Metalville Records on March 24th.

The last single before the new album “Kapitel 11: Barrikaden” finally sees the light of day on 24 March. A few more “graceful” sounds have found their way onto the new album, which we don’t want to withhold from you. But of course: lyrically and musically there’s a punch in the face at the end. It’s like a good boxing match…take it slowly and when the guard is down, send it to the floor with a beautiful left haymaker!

KÄRBHOLZ – Kapitel 11: “Barrikaden”

It will be 18 years in 2023 for the 4 friends of KÄRBHOLZ from the tranquil town of Ruppichteroth in Western Germany.

Some people might think that at some point the wear and tear must show. Not at all. Because: the forced break of the past two years was by no means just a stroke of bad luck for Torben (vocals), Adrian (guitar), Stefan (bass) and Henning (drums). True to the motto “The break is also part of the music!”, the time was used to catch their breath, recharge and creatively come together and reunite in the rehearsal room. Once again, the four guys were supported by the producer team Eike Freese (Chameleon Studios) and Alexander Dietz (Heaven Shall Burn, Chemical Burn Studios).

On Kapitel 11: “Barrikaden” you can hear 11 pieces. Songs that tell stories from life, sometimes in a small, sometimes in a big way. The opener and namesake BARRIKADEN, which questions entrenched social structures and interpersonal beliefs with a hard metal edge. The vehement RAUBTIER, which tries to reawaken the same. UNTER FERNER LIEFEN… “always me and my mind”. An ode to one’s own irrationality. Or also the brute EINS GEGEN EIN, which longs for peace with itself, comes to the conclusion that in the battle with itself – unfortunately – there is usually no winner, before it betrays its true, all-encompassing intention in the end. These are some examples that make clear where KÄRBHOLZ have their musical influences. There’s more “Killswitch Engage” in here than “Die Toten Hosen”. That makes it hard to pigeonhole the songs.

But of course, not all that glitters is metal. The musical range of the album is proven by songs like the poem DER ZUG set to music, the “almost crossover” brawler MUT GEGEN PERSPEKTIVE or GAR NICHTS, which alternates between bittersweet harmonies and rigorous reckoning with false friends.

KÄRBHOLZ – Kapitel 11: “Barrikaden” is a good 40-minute musical journey through the various corners of the KÄRBHOLZ cosmos, but without ever losing itself. An album that usually only reveals its musical complexity at second glance, but in the end leaves you feeling good and sends you on another journey of discovery.

Kapitel 11: “Barrikaden” will be released on CD, vinyl, as a fan box and digitally.

Prediluvian (plural prediluvians) One who lived before the Flood; an antediluvian.

YOSSI SASSI & THE ORIENTAL ROCK ORCHESTRA have released their new album “PreDiluvian” today, March 13th, available now on all digital platforms. To celebrate the release Yossi Sassi has revealed their second single and video ‘Armaros Fall’ feat. Ross Jennings.

“Prediluvian”, is the new album by Oriental Rock / Metal innovator, YOSSI SASSI, together with his “Oriental Rock Orchestra”. This is Yossi’s 6th solo album, and the 5th since leaving “Orphaned Land” (after composing & recording ‘All is One’), the oriental metal band he co-founded, and created a worldwide genre.

The new album includes 12 new tracks, electric, acoustic & diverse. “In the new album I’ve ‘drifted back’ to my electric guitar, and it is full with loads of guitar riffs, alongside our unique blend of oriental
progressive rock”, Says Sassi, “The album’s title and concept relate to a period in time chronicled between the fall of man and the genesis flood. History just keeps repeating, and while writing and brainstorming, I felt this would be a proper framework to gather various feelings and capture some of the essence of this current period in humanity. In 2002 I created the successful ‘Mabool’ album and concept along with my brothers in ‘Orphaned Land’, so it felt only natural to go back – before the flood. Playing and creating with time, and as usual, the clocks keep melting”.

The album includes a guest apprance of Sassi’s longtime friend and musical collaborator, the amazing Ross Jennings, the lead singer for “HAKEN”. This is Jennings’ second appearance on Sassi’s albums and the joint song, “Armaros Fall” hits as an offical single and video with the release of the new album.

Watch ‘Armaros Fall’ video below.

The album was recorded at Black Rock Studios in the Island Of Santorini, making the exclusive mediterranean venue a musical home for Sassi and the gang, as this is the 3rd album recorded on the Island. “One of the most amazing things about creating our music and albums is the privilege to deepen our friendship”, says Sassi, “Whether it’s waking up in the morning and naturally sliding into a sunrise jam by the sea or in the living room or after dinner late at night, sharing ideas into the small hours. It’s the bond that makes us create better music”.

About DieHumane:

DieHumane was founded in Galveston, Texas at the end of 2020 by Joshua Vargas and Greg Hilligiest as a way to deal with the loss and isolation of that year. From there it snowballed into something massive, with Garret West (former vocalist of Anova Skyway) being recruited on vocals, Rick Hunolt (former Exodus guitarist) being recruited as the lead guitarist, and Sal Abruscato (former Type O Negative/Life Of Agony drummer, as well as chief musician in A Pale Horse Named Death) being recruited on drums.

DieHumane is a band that swims about as far away from the other fish as it gets. Combining elements of doom metal, jazz, industrial, blues, and prog. Imagine if Celtic Frost got into a car crash with A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, and Type O Negative while listening to Pink Floyd on the radio. DieHumane is heavily rooted in mood and atmosphere, from the brooding to the cathartic, from the hopeless to hopeful. Love them or hate them, it’s a musical ride that you can only get from them.

DieHumane – The Members:

Rick Hunolt – Lead Guitar: A former member of the pioneering thrash metal band Exodus, Rick is one half of the legendary “H-team” featuring him and Gary Holt. Rick eventually stepped back from Exodus in the early 2000’s to raise his kids and makes his return to music with DieHumane.

Garret West – Vocals: A man of many talents, such as an actor, musician, and stand up comic, Garret is a versatile vocalist and the original singer for the up-and-coming prog band, Anova Skyway.

Joshua Vargas – Bass, Rhythm Guitar, Piano, Programming: A filmmaker, documentarian, and music video director who has worked on videos for bands/artists such as David Vincent (of Morbid Angel/Vltimas,) Down, Goblin, Skinlab, SOiL, Leonard Cohen, and many more.

Greg Hilligiest – Keys, Programming, Guitar: A multi-instrumentalist and electronics wizard, Greg is the kind of guy that could write you a beautiful song, as well as program your stereo to eat you.

Sal Abruscato – Drums: Founding member and former drummer of the legendary goth metal band, Type O Negative, as well as the former drummer for Life Of Agony, Sal also fronted and was the main songwriter for the doom metal band A Pale Horse Named Death. There’s not much to say that his mark on metal music doesn’t say for itself. In DieHumane, Sal returns to the drum kit and brings the Italian thunder!
