In 2021 the band played some shows with Jinjer in Germany and Switzerland. A year later, the band played a 4-week EU/UK tour with American cult band Mushroomhead.
Los Angeles-based dark melodic metal outfit Witherfall proudly presents their newest musical endeavor “Insidious”. The song marks the band’s first new music since critically-acclaimed album Curse Of Autumn, which was released in 2020 and saw Witherfall entering the Top 20 of the official German Album Charts as well as admirable positions in Billboard’s Top New Artist Albums and the Billboard 100 chart.
With “Insidious” the band lead by Joseph Michael (vocals) and Jake Dreyer (guitars) opens up a fresh chapter and offers a first glimpse of what to expect from their upcoming fourth studio album, tentatively due in early 2024.
“After a crazy writing and recording spree that had us crisscrossing the USA and working in five different states. We present to you perhaps the most involved Witherfall production to date”, says the band. “‘Insidious’ is the first single from our 4th full length album. The song was birthed at four in the morning under a foggy full moon in a stream of consciousness with the central theme and musical landscape written/improvised in a single take. The contrasting consonance and dissonance in the composition takes listeners on a decent into madness. The song was recorded with all analog instruments and was Co-Produced by Zeuss. The video produced by both Bradley Cooper and Cig Neutron represents the pervasive malaise and general sense of division in our current culture. We wish we could say no puppets were harmed during the making of this video…”

Witherfall was formed in Los Angeles in 2013. Joseph Michael (also of Sanctuary fame) and Jake Dreyer (ex-Iced Earth/Demons & Wizards) built their new band around drummer Adam Sagan (RIP) and accomplished bassist Anthony Crawford (Allan Holdsworth, CHON). Since then, the group have released three highly regarded albums: Nocturnes and Requiems (2017), A Prelude to Sorrow (2018), and Curse of Autumn (2021) and an ep Vintage (2019). Not one to cut corners, Witherfall enlisted famed drummer Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats, Steven Wilson) on Curse of Autumn, ensuring the foundations of singles “As I Lie Awake,” “The Other Side of Fear,” and “The River” were second to none. On the upcoming album, Minnemann returns to the fold with an album-only appearance, while drummer Chris Tsaganeas (Wax Owls) and multi-instrumentalist Gerry Hirschfeld (Willie Nelson) Witherfall’s newest permanent members.
Every Witherfall album is a defining moment. From the moment Nocturnes and Requiems thundered across metaldom to the group’s wine endeavors (Tempest Red Blend) with Charlie & Echo Winery, their video collaboration with Cig Neutron (Devil’s Workshop) on “The Other Side of Fear,” a beer partnership with Adroit Theory Brewing Company (Shadows Black IPA), and custom Funko Pop set, Michael and Dreyer have made Witherfall their mission. The journey to this point hasn’t been without toil and upheaval. Determination, however, is the key.
Witherfall are guitarist/songwriter Jake Dreyer, vocalist/songwriter Joseph Michael, bassist Anthony Crawford, drummer Marco Minnemann (recording only), drummer/percussionist Chris Tsaganeas, and keyboardist Gerry Hirschfeld.
DeathWave Records was created by Witherfall headmen Joseph Michael and Jake Dreyer as a vehicle for their music and other projects. Look for more exciting and trailblazing releases from DeathWave Records in the future.

“Breakdown” is a cracking hard rock statement and the first single from “Lost Tapes Vol.1”, an album full of previously unreleased TRAPEZE song gems from Tom Galley’s private archive – Great songs finally seeing the light of day! – The song is from the band’s last phase in the 90s and still sounds tremendously fresh and contemporary today. The lead vocals are by Glenn Hughes, who delivers a vocal masterpiece on “Breakdown”.
“LOST TAPES VOL.1” will be released on November 24th on Metalville Records.
The tracks on “Lost Tapes Vol.1” are a collection of previously unreleased TRAPEZE songs compiled by Tom Galley, brother of TRAPEZE founding member Mel Galley. The tracks are from various recording sessions, starting in the early 70s until the band’s break-up in the 90s.
The tracks not only prove how good the various TRAPEZE line-ups were, but also capture the passion, energy and enthusiasm in the making of the songs themselves.
“Lost Tapes Vol. 1” contains a total of 14 songs that are just as first-class as the well-known tracks on the band’s albums. And some of these tracks will probably become classics in the same way. “Lost Tapes Vol. 1” offers the opportunity to hear TRAPEZE with all its original energy, and shows that there was much more untapped potential lying dormant between the musicians involved than had previously been assumed.
TRAPEZE never stood still over the years. If time and circumstances had been different, we can well imagine the heights this unique band could have reached.
