Following a storming headline show at Power Trip Festival in California last night, metal icons JUDAS PRIEST announced on stage the arrival of a brand-new studio album entitled Invincible Shield, set for release on March 8, 2024, via Epic Records. “Panic Attack,” the first single from the album, will be released this Friday, October 13, 2023. The album is now available to pre-order here.
Power Trip festival took place at the weekend and saw the biggest names in metal gather for this sold-out event, where everyone from Metallica to Iron Maiden and AC/DC performed alongside the mighty Priest. Their surprise on-stage announcement was made to 200,000 fans at the festival and sent a shockwave of excitement amongst their loyal followers across the globe.
The undisputed hardest working band in metal will also be embarking on a world tour in 2024, the with the UK leg kicking off in Glasgow on March 11th and includes a show at London’s OVO Wembley Arena on March 21st.

Recall that the cover was drawn by the great Francesco Bernardis, with whom Mr.Jack has already collaborated several years ago, for some projects belonging to the world of Horror Music! The cover brings back a lot of 80’s female features (musical years that our artist loves so much), with that touch of modernity (small tidbit, the designer, was inspired by the face of the artist’s wife). Such big works, as you know, deserve a lot of work, and precisely for this, the artist, together with all the guests, are giving their best in the studio! His long journey, within the music scene, seems to have no breaks, always looking for new ideas, new collaborations, lead the artist to a continuous exchange of ideas with great friends, artists! What to expect from this new work? Well, work is going great and it will really come out a new album full of new things and good music!

When CROWBAR first hit the metal scene in 1991 with their debut, Obedience thru Suffering, the metal world was going through significant change. The arrival of grunge had been eating away like a cancer in genres both Metal and the L.A. scene dubbed “Hair Band”. It seemed that all things Metal would disappear. Fast forward 32 years and CROWBAR are still touring in both Europe and America, and the grunge scene that had nearly wiped out all things Metal, has all but disappeared.
I caught their October 4 show in East Nashville, Tennessee, at The COBRA.
When CROWBAR is on, they are always hitting on all 8 cylinders. This show was no different. The band took the stage and instantly demanded respect with their signature sludge filled riffs and hard-hitting bass and drums, supporting the onslaught. The house was sold out, and even with a limited capacity, the crowd was worked into a frenzy from the energy emitting from the stage.
Opening with the energy of Conquering, you just knew that CROWBAR was going to kick everyone’s ass! Following it up with High rate Extinction, the crowd brought their own energy during the entire set. A highlight is always Planets Collide which brings even the dead back to life with that signature riff that only Kirk can conjure. The night was filled with riffs, madness, and horns in the air, and it is like that each and every show CROWBAR puts on. One would never know that it was the night before the tour would end. The energy was high! Kirk rallied the crowd, Shane brought that mean muggin’ bass playing that is all his own, Tommy was on point with his drumming and Matt, as always, brought heavy, solid guitars.
Kirk was kind enough to talk with me a bit about future plans. His project with former CROWBAR bassist and friend, Todd Strange and former Type O Negative members Johnny Kelly and Kenny Hickey called EYE AM, will be releasing a new song soon, DOWN will be entering the studio, and more greatness from CROWBAR is to come. 2024 looks to be shaping up very nicely for “Nawlins” metal!

CROSSBONE SKULLY—the exciting new multidimensional project led by mastermind Tommy Henriksen (guitarist and musical director for Alice Cooper’s band & member of Hollywood Vampires)—have today (October 6) released their incendiary new single “The Boom Went The Boom,” featuring Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen,across digital platforms. The track is the second taste of new music from CROSSBONE SKULLY’s debut album due in 2024 via Better Noise Music.Legendary producer Mutt Lange emerged from retirement to executive produce the album and was reunited with Collen on this track after having produced and co-wrote several of Def Leppard’s monumental albums. “The Boom Went The Boom” is available today digitally HERE and a lyric video highlighting its rebellious message is streaming HERE or below. A music video for the song will premiere on Friday, October 13 which will reveal the lineup for CROSSBONE SKULLY’s live band.
CROSSBONE SKULLY also announced the first of what will be a series of limited-edition 7” vinyl singles. This first 7” vinyl will feature “The Boom Went The Boom (feat. Phil Collen of Def Leppard)” and a yet-to-be-announced B-side track and will be available exclusively to order through the band’s Spotify page HERE. Each will come with a limited-edition signed copy of CROSSBONE SKULLY’s “Thing #1” ashcan comic. Proceeds from the sale of the limited edition 7” vinyl will be donated to the 501(c)(3) charity MusiCares who offer preventive, emergency, and recovery programs for musicians and music industry workers in times of need.
Describing the new track, HENRIKSEN says: “Like dynamite beneath deceit, ‘The Boom Went The Boom’ reveals the truth’s explosive power in song, shattering masks and echoing the reckoning of lies, for when trust erodes, The Misfits Will Rise!”
“I love the Crossbone Skully record and I’ve always loved Tommy’s voice, especially as we’ve got to sing live together a few times,” shares COLLEN. “I’ve always wanted to hear that voice on something like this, so here it is, finally! I’m totally thrilled to be a part of it!”
CROSSBONE SKULLY’s debut single “Evil World Machine” was originally released onthe soundtrack for the 2022 thriller The Retaliators (Better Noise Films) and its music video was premiered later that year at Fan Expo in San Francisco. CROSSBONE SKULLY also represents the band’s mascot and main character of their graphic novel and animated film, “Thing #1,” which were also revealed at Fan Expo. For the film, HENRIKSEN enlisted several of his bandmates and friends for voiceovers on both the album and the upcoming film including A-list actor Johnny Depp and rock icons including Alice Cooper, Nikki Sixx, Joe Perry and Kane Roberts.
The forthcoming debut album features HENRIKSEN on vocals and bass and was recorded by a sterling group of musicians including guitarist Tommy Denander (Alice Cooper), keyboardist Jamie Muhoberac (My Chemical Romance, John Mayer, Seal), bassist Chris Wyse (Hollywood Vampires, Ace Frehley, the Cult, Ozzy Osbourne), drummer Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper, Hollywood Vampires), the late UFO bassist Pete Way and producer/mixer Mike Plotnikoff (AC/DC, Cher, Aerosmith).
