THE REVENANTS Release New Single/Video ‘Los Angeles’ from Upcoming Debut Album

THE REVENANTS have released the next single a few days after the release of their first song “Ghosts”. The journey leads to “Los Angeles”. The Stuttgart-based trio around “End Of Green” singer Michelle Darkness shows from the beginning that they want to make a lasting impression.

The album “Ghosts” will be released on 21.04.2023 as a DOUBLE-CD-DIGIPACK with 20 songs and is on presale from today. Pre-orderers of the album can look forward to a few special features!

Michelle Darkness already lent his voice to nine “End Of Green” albums, which is certainly one of the rock voices with the highest recognition value in Germany!

Spring 2018. No big intro, no fanfare and no sensational announcment.
 
The two longtime soulbrothers, italian-rooted guitar wizard Fabiano Arganese and 
Marc Ayerle, guitarist, producer and live sound engineer for decades, started to jam around in Marcs own klangmanufaktur studios. There was no plan, no concept, nor any rules or genre typical limitations.
The guiding light was the music itself, the song was taking control over the path which shall be followed.
After the first weekend session, four songs were written and completely recorded. A great glimpse of delight, which led to further deliberations. So Marc decided to ask one of his best and nearest friends, Michelle Darkness, well-known voice of Southern German Gloomsters “End of Green“
(Marc is doing their live sound engineering for nearly 20 years now), to try some vocals on those.
It was a perfect match. The Songs began to breath and it all started to gain contour. The rest seemed really to be predictable. The songwriting and production went like a breeze. 20 songs were finished and … The Revenants was born!

DAWN RAY’D Share New Single + Music Video ‘The Battle of Sudden Flame’

Liverpool, UK’s DAWN RAY’D have shared their new single The Battle of Sudden Flame and an accompanying music video, directed by JG Visuals. The Battle of Sudden Flame is the second track to be taken from the black metal trio’s upcoming third album, To Know The Light, which is due out on March 24 via Prosthetic Records.

Speaking on The Battle of Sudden Flame, the band comments: “The lyrics to this song feel very relevant to what we have seen the police do in 2023, but has there ever been a year when that wouldn’t be the case? 

“One of the ways working people have been able to tell the stories of their lives is through folk music; documenting labour struggles, the lives of revolutionaries, and all the abuses those in power commit against us. There is no break between the past and the present, this is a true story told in the best way we know how. Folk music isn’t a synonym for ‘accoustic’ or ‘twee’, it is the music of our real lives, we the folk down here struggling. 

“It isn’t controversial to hate an institution that brutalises women, torments the poor, murders people of colour with impunity, covers for the abusive rich and crushes dissent. 

“We don’t have to justify our opposition to the police, that is the burden of those who choose to support them.”

To Know The Light is a departure from their previous missives in more ways than one. Although still overtly political, the lyrics take on a more personal slant than before. Lyrically, To Know The Light traces the band’s own journey through anarcho-nihilism; from anger, to despair, to a radical acceptance of the darkness all around us, settling on a new understanding of liberation and joy. Whilst much of the thematic content is rooted in rage and resistance, there are also elements of positivity to be found throughout.

Recorded at the Station House in Leeds, in what can arguably be described as an appropriate repurposing of an old police house, and Mynetaur Studios with production by Mark Mynett (Rotting Christ, My Dying Bride) and additional engineering by James Atkinson. DAWN RAY’D have crafted an album high on production values with clean vocals, rich layering and many melodic passages of majestic theatricality, all without compromising intensity.

DAWN RAY’D define folk music as a way to document the injuries, abuses and real-life stories of working class people; a way to disseminate information that would otherwise not be accessible. Sonically speaking, too, they incorporate elements of traditional folk music into their music – notably within the harmonies and layers on tracks such as Requital and Freedom in Retrograde.

Citing influences as genre-diverse as Chumbawumba, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Propagandhi, Lankum, and Crass, it is evident that the message is still as important as the music. The thread that runs through all these bands – and many others – is one that allows for creative expression around common themes of class struggle, freedom and resistance. Much of the lyrical content is poetic in structure and delivery, but never at the expense of straightforward language when necessary. The album’s cover continues this theme of directness, featuring a photograph taken in France by Remi Moon, with additional artwork and layout by Ethan McCarthy. The image features a silhouetted figure in front of a fire at a protest. 

Consider this an invitation to disregard preconceptions about DAWN RAY’D and the genre(s) within which they reside. Consider To Know The Light as not just a rallying cry but a sincere offering of a new way of looking at the world.

Born in 1981, Alberto Rigoni is an Italian bass player and composer, internationally known for his career as a solo artist and as a member of the metal band BAD As, The Italians, Natural Born Machines Lady & THE BASS, co-producer of the Vivaldi Metal Project and member of progressive rock band TwinSpirits (no more active).

Between 2008 and 2022 Alberto has released worldwide 9 solo album (Something Different, Rebirth, Three Wise Monkeys, Overloaded, BASSORAMA, Duality, EvoRevolution, Prog Injection, Odd Times, For The Love of Bass, Songs for Souls), spanning from progressive rock metal to fusion. His albums also features legendary musicians such as Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Kevin Moore (ex Dream Theater), Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson), Marco Minnemann (the Aristocrats), Göran Edman (ex Yngwie Malmsteen), Michael Manring, Nathan East, Lee Sklar and many many others.
Alberto has been featured on the cover of magazine such as Bass Magazine (Japan), Bass Musician Magazine (USA), Bajos Y Bajistas (Spain), Basistas (Poland), TOP BASS (Poland), Bassiste Magazine (FR). Moreover, on March 2015 the prestigious Bass Guitar Magazine (UK) released Alberto’s CD anthology called “Into THE BASS”.

Alberto has also recorded for several international artists such as Italian pop singer Alexia and he is also playing bass for Canadian rock singer and songwriter Kim Bingham (ex-Nelly Furtado) and The Italians, sharing stages with artists such as Alan Parson, Suzanne Vega, Jørn Lande, Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore and others.

In 2016 founded a new metal band called BADASS (now called BAD As) with which released three albums (More Pain More Gain, Midnight Curse and Crucified Society).

On December 15th 2017, Rigoni together with bassist Jeff Hughell (Six Feet Under) released a new studio project called Bassists Alliance. The first album “Crush” will feature top notch bassists such as Michael Manring, Adam Nitti, Steve di Giorgio, Colin Edwin, Mark Mitchell, Scott Reeder, Dmitry Lisenko, Brandino BassMaster, Ryan Martini, Leonid Maksimov, Tony Grey.

In 2019 founded a new AOR band called “Natural Born Machine” featuring famous Pink Cream 69 singer David Readman. Their debut album “Human” has been released on February 19th 2021 by Pride and Joy Music.

ALBERTO RIGONI and MICHAEL MANRING released their highly acclaimed “Grains of Sand” album on September 15th 2022. The album features Mark Zonder (A-Z, Fates Warning) on drums and legendary bass player Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big) + special guests Stuart Hamm, Adam Nitti, Mike LePond and Bryan Beller.

The wait is almost over! Metal greats DELAIN are finally back with their eagerly-yearned-for new studio album, Dark Waters, out tomorrow, Friday, February 10 via Napalm Records! To celebrate this milestone of a bright future to come, the unit around mastermind Martijn Westerholt reveals their final single, “Queen of Shadow”, together with a hauntingly beautiful official music video.

The track merges the orchestral and synth-focused soundscapes DELAIN is known for. It weaves melodic heavy guitars that intertwine with orchestral lines and vocal melodies, marking another powerful example of the fresh new sound that presents the crystal clear voice of frontwoman Diana Leah – shining bright like the early morning sun of a yet untouched day.
