After massive praise from fans and the media for their previous albums “Forget the past, Let’s Worry About the Future” (2016) and “The World is a Rabbit Hole” (2021) and sold out concerts all over Norway in 2022, “Special Agents” is perhaps their most anticipated album to date.

To record this album Pil & Bue went back into Cederberg Studios in Kristiansand, Norway where they also recorded “The World is a Rabbit Hole” and created this emotional and sonic rollercoaster of an album that is a tribute to all the everyday heroes out there.

Pil & Bue comments:
We want to acknowledge people that include and take care of people around them. It is a very philosophizing album, that to a certain degree comment on how we all seek detachment to become who we really are. All humans want to feel freedom and happiness, if so, just for a little while. We need more kindness and justice in the world. And those themes will never leave our lyrics.

Co-producer and mixer Christer André Cederberg comments;
“This album has it all! Raw energy, pure music joy, anger, sorrow, humor and hope. It is heavy, punk, dynamic, beautiful, melancholic, and experimental! What more can you ask for?”

ABOUT PIL & BUE
With one of the best vocalists from Norway, Petter Carlsen, on vocals and guitar, and Gøran Johansen slaying the drums, they are an explosion of hard rock.

With subtle, but pronounced references to artists like Placebo, Deftones, Sigur Rós, Anathema and Mars Volta, Pil & Bue delivers “Hard, gloomy & joyful music…” (Metal Hammer NO) based on topics like memories, childhood aspirations, use of imagination, video games, and the intriguing online rabbit holes.

The band´s raw and melodic music quickly struck a note with Hollywood director Tommy Wirkola who included the Pil & Bue single “You Win Again” in his now cult-status movie “Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival January 2014.

Also, their single “Fire” from their second album “Forget the Past, Let’s Worry About The Future” is featured on the end credits of Hollywood/Netflix blockbuster “What Happened To Monday” (2017).

Pil & Bue released their acclaimed third album The World is a Rabbit Hole in September 2021, an album which got rave reviews: 6/6 Scream Magazine (NO), 5/5 Metal´art (FR), 5/6 Norway Rock Magazine, 5 Altaposten, 7/10 Metalhammer UK og 11/15 from http://www.betreutesproggen.de.

SLEEP SIGNALS have announced THE SINKING SHIPS TOUR: PART I & II, which begins February 15th in El Paso, TX at Sun City Bar & Event Center and concludes on May 14th. The tour is in support of the band’s new single “One Life” that releases to all major platforms on February 17, 2023. Pre-Save “One Life” HERE

Tickets and VIP for the tour are available at www.sleepsignals.net

Resiliency. The trials we face in life define who we are. Sleep Signals has been no stranger to adversity throughout their career, having dealt with a plethora of misfortunes culminating with a devastating bus wreck in 2021. During a tour with POD and From Ashes To New, the band’s bus was hit by a semi truck, destroying all of their equipment and causing severe injuries to several members. But through all of the setbacks, the band has remained dedicated to sharing their story and bringing their unique perspective to the rock/metal genre.

Blending their ability to create strong hooks with their high-energy song-writing style, the band manages to meld influences ranging from pop to hardcore, creating a soundscape that leads the listener on a journey filled with raw emotion. When you hear a song, you feel the song.

After an extended hiatus in 2021, the band returned to the stage in late 2022 and immediately began selling out shows across the Pacific Northwest. In 2023, the band was back in full force, touring nationally supporting the release of a new single, “One Life.” The single is heavily influenced by the challenges the group most recently experienced and follows up the band’s 2020 radio single, “Fireproof,” that climbed the charts, landing on Sirius XM’s Octane and over 80 FM stations across the U.S.

“Sleep Signals embodies the same DIY hustling ethic that Ice Nine Kills has used since the beginning. Great songs, and a work ethic that is quickly making this band stand out” says Spencer Charnas of (Ice Nine Kills).

Alex Varkatzas (Ex-Atreyu) adds, “Seeing Sleep Signals’ tireless work ethic and energetic live shows nightly, it’s only a matter of time before this band is a household name.”

Finnish symphonic doom/death metal band DEPRESSED MODE released a new single Dead & Living. This single was suppose to be part of Words of Death EP which was already recorded but was unfortunately destroyed bacause of hardware failure. So, this brand new single and earlier released re-recorded version of Suffer in Darkness are the only tracks survived from the planned EP.

Otto Salonen comments:

“This is a new song which was composed right after our Decade of Silence album. It was quite different from our previous songs, so I was a bit insecure about how it’s going to sound, but after drum recordings by Marko Tommila, I was sure it’s going to be loved by fans worldwide!

Due to hardware failure, this is it for our Words of Death EP. In other words, all the remaining songs were destroyed, and won’t be released.”

Depressed Mode was established in 2005 by composer Otto Salonen. Signed a contract with Firebox Records for two albums in 2006. First album “Ghosts Of Devotion” was released in 2007, and received really good reviews throughout the media. The second album “..For Death” released in 2009, was a success, and a step towards more symphonic death/doom metal, with great reviews as well.

Otto Salonen begun composing DM’s third album in January 2020. The lineup for the new album consists of Otto Salonen, Teemu Heinola, Henri Hakala and Iiro Aittokoski. Veronica Bordacchini from Fleshgod Apocalypse took over the female vocals for the third album.

The album was recorded and mixed at Ansa Studio by Teemu Heinola and Otto Salonen during 2021.

In autumn 2021 Depressed Mode signed a deal with Inverse Records for the third album titled “Decade Of Silence”. The album was mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios Helsinki. Long-awaited album was released on May 6th 2022.

Finland’s HANGING GARDEN Release Eighth Studio Album “The Garden” on March 24th

“The Garden” is the eighth studio album from Finland’s melodic, multi-metal outfit with female and male vocals, HANGING GARDEN. The album is set to be released on March 24th via Agonia Records.

HANGING GARDEN formed in 2004, starting out as a heavy, doom-oriented project. Roughly two decades, seven albums and a couple of line-up shuffles later, the band shifted to a more melodic, contemporary sound, surrounded by a veil of melancholy.

The compositions are dark, atmospheric & emotional, and concomitantly lean towards open-minded and playful musicality. While entrenched in metal’s doom, gothic and melodeath branches, HANGING GARDEN displays a versatile, many-layered style of playing, packs female & male vocals, and draws influence & inspiration from music and art, far and wide.

Artwork by Kalle Pyyhtinen

The new album – “The Garden” – dives deep into atmospheres both “tender and harsh, devilish and serene” and “embarks upon a journey to mankind’s spiritual roots, contemplating the fragility of our technological society” – as poetically described by the band. “There is a kind of energy in the songs that there wasn’t before,” introspects Toni Hatakka of HANGING GARDEN. “A feel of hope to contrast our old friend the despair, a strong notion of action against the familiar melancholy, or maybe a light amidst the comfortable gloom…” Read Toni‘s full comment below.

“After almost two decades of dwelling in the musical and lyrical thematics of despair, loss and melancholy, I had the feeling that our next release could have some room for hope and light as well – of course not forgetting our trademark-ish somber aesthetic. The approach we decided to take was to weave a story of how humanity would still thrive, still find meaning, after the world as we know it has finally met its end.”

“Exploring the rituals, belief systems, connection to nature, finding purpose in just being and surviving were the cornerstones of how The Garden came to be. Another strong theme is that of dreams; since childhood, I’ve had this recurring dream world with a silent feel of stagnation, colossal constructs of rust, the action of journeying to the unknown, and lush nature. This is where I also draw a lot of what ended up on the album. The lyrics written by Riikka also amalgamated into this aesthetic perfectly. Even the name was given to me in a dream. Back in spring, I had a dream where our keyboardist Nino and I had a talk about this being our Magnum Opus and that we should call it The Garden. Such a powerful notion could not be left unheeded, and so the album had its name. The Garden is at the same time familiar and atypical for us. There is a kind of energy in the songs that there wasn’t before, a feel of hope to contrast our old friend the despair, a strong notion of action against the familiar melancholy, or maybe a light amidst the comfortable gloom. But in the end, this is us.”

“The Garden”, the follow-up to “Skeleton Lake” (2021), was produced by Jussi Hämäläinen (vocals, guitars) and Jarno Hänninen. The album was mixed and mastered by the latter at D-studio (Beherit, Shape of Despair).  Cover artwork and new band photos are by Finnish artist Kalle Pyyhtinen. “The Garden” marks the return of new-old drummer Antti Ruokola, last seen in HANGING GARDEN seven years ago.

HANGING GARDEN may appeal to fans of Swallow the Sun, Ghost Brigade, October Tide, Katatonia and Type 0 Negative.
